Bricked device? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Greetings
I got a new Mate 9. Unlocked BL and flashed TWRP. Then I recognised that not all apps are installed (I think because of the cust parititon missing).
So I want to reinstall original firmware on Mate 9.
If I try to use eRecovery it says "getting package info failed".
If I try update.app in dload folder, HWOC folder or update zip it says "Package does not exist".
FunkyHuawei sais server busy and my transaction ID is not found..
Any solution I can restore my Mate 9 again with original firmware / maybe root it then?
THANKS!
Robin

I had the same problem with FunkyHuawei yesterday. It's fixed now and FunkyHuawei also fixed my bricked Mate9!

can you please the tutorial how to revive please? ???? mine is dead

My honor 8 refuse update

hello, i will try to explain my problem :
My honor was bricked by an error of flash.
I have "repair" it by a way found here on xda : flash boot.img, cust, recovery, system, and after i have could make the update by dload.
Then all was ok under the firmware LO9C432B131.
But now, i can't update to B360...
Before my brick, i had the ota update to B360... but now i have nothing....
If i try the update by dload, it says : "problem compatibility"
I have downgraded to B120 and ota update was good for B131. But nothing for B360
If someone can explain me...thank you so much (actually the phone is no rooted and relocked)
Hi there. Go through the entire rollback procedure and you will be fine: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-downgrading-unlocked-rooted-twrpd-t3549281
Put the update.app file in a folder called dload on a SD card. If you haven't got one, flash twrp in fastboot and when in twrp you'll be able to transfer them to internal storage from your pc. Then follow the instruction above. That's how I unbricked mine. Good luck.

Yes, but I believe the issue comes from manual flashing of partitions. I have also tried that when my phone was dead and the recovery and eRecovery always threw "package incompatible" error. I think restoring the entire file system to factory condition (which happens during the rollback process) is the sure best way to fix all issues.
Thanks for your answers,
I finally got the update with the charlie app...(not easy this method !)
But now i don't know if ota will be ok...
I will perhaps do the rollback as you said to restore the entire file system...

You need roll back package for L29. It will be around 90 mb. Put it in dload folder in sdcard. Then go to dialer and type *#*#2846579#*#* and then select software upgrade. It will reboot and will undergo that process or you can do that three finger process. Once it is done you can reboot back to your OS. This time put the B1xx or B3xx firmware in dload folder and try to do that again. It will go back.
In my case I went back from L29C432B560 to L29C432B180 doing this way. I am saying this from my personal experience. Key here is the rollback package from Huawei. It is there in one of the threads or you can google Huawei rollback package. Once you get that you resolve your issue.
Another thing I observed is locked bootloader.
Hope it works out for you.

Go to this link
http://m.huawei.com/mymobile/consumer/support/downloads/index.htm
And select the last one L29C900B500
That is the one I used.
If that code doesn't work then try the 3 finger rule
After you do with this rollback package
You will once again come back to nougat
You can check the build number if the process is successful.
Then you have to dload again to B180 or B3xx
Hope this works for you

Don't think it will make any difference. You may try to install update.zip (EMUI 4.0) via twrp.
Just checking. Is your FRP unlocked?

I had the same problems.
option 1
I downloaded stock B560 zip files
flashed it in TWRP
next I locked the bootloader
now the dload to rollback - worked. buildnumber - changed
then another dload to B180 to go back.
after that I did dload to B190
updated to B560 using system update. then I flashed kangvip B577 and its all good now.
my phone was debranded to L29c432 so I used these files.
you have to get the right set of files for your phone model especially stock firmware.
roll back package from here
http://m.huawei.com/mymobile/consumer/support/downloads/index.htm
locked bootloader and stock recovery did the trick for me.
hope it works out for you. :good:

You can change by switch off your phone then press volume down and plug in your usb cable. It will bring you to bootloader mode. From there it will tell you bootloader and FRP status

Reverting to stock [SOLVED]

I have been trying to revert to stock with no luck. What I want to do is install the latest update, but I can't because I had twrp installed. I flashed the original recovery. The problem is when I try to use eRecovery I get "Getting package info failed" error. when I try to download the b385 full update for the FRD-L04 I get a dead link. I was able to download the rollback package, but will I be able to get back to the latest version after I install the rollback package? when I try to use other update packages for my phone I get "Incompatibility with current version" error. Do I need to lock my bootloader in order to update? The good news is that my phone works fine, bad news is that I can't up date.

Thanks for the link, I just been to heck and back with this phone. first I uninstalled Magisk. After that my phone wouldn't boot, it would just hang on the blue screen after the initial boot screen. I tried to find a stock boot Image for my version. Once I installed that my phone would boot loop so I managed to get into fastboot and flash TWRP. Once in TWRP I restored my B360 backup and got my phone working again. Then I flashed the stock recovery. Tried to boot into the stock recovery but that wouldn't load. Some how I got it to install the rollback package and now i'm at version B300. Good news is I'm back to stock and can boot int the stock recovery. Time to see if I can update to the latest version.
Edit I think I might have a problem. It won't let me update also it shows my phone as "FRD-L04C900" not "FRD-L04C567" is there any way I can fix this?

I think you will have to restore you oeminfo partition backup through twrp.
On mr FRD-L09, I had to relock my bootloader, then get the rollback package and put the .app on my SD card and hard flash it, then do the same with the rom .app file. Thet got me back to stock marshamllow, and I just let all the updates run through until I'm now on the latest.
Stock is missing some bits, and has some irritations, but the camera is sooo much better than custom roms, and GPS works, as does Android Pay etc. I've not bothered rooting, AdGuard does the ad-blocking and the rest is liveable.
Well I think I'm my phone is screwed. I can't boot into recovery and when it boots it bootloops once and then it is stuck on the "your device is unlocked and can't be trusted. Fastboot still works fine I can lock and unlock the bootloader. I can flash Recovery and TWRP in Fastboot but neither one will boot. I think I might have flashed the wrong update or it happened when I flashed the rollback package. I want to try DC Phoenix but they won't let me buy credits because my PayPal account is unverified. I have downloaded the "Honor 8_Firmware_FRD-L04_Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1_C567B122_United States_Nonspecific" from the hihonor.com site. I extracted it and flashed the recovery, boot, and system image through fastboot. The phone still won't boot into recovery or boot into the OS. Is there a way to fix this or is it time for a new phone.
Thank you everybody for your help.
Ok my phone is fixed. What I did was buy 15 credits for DC Phoenix and flashed the "Honor 8_Firmware_FRD-L04_Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1_C567B122_United States_Nonspecific" package. When I rebooted my phone it automatically went into ERecovery and downloaded and installed the B162 update. I was able to fully boot after that It updated to B360 and then B388.

How did you flash the file you mentioned above? Did you put it on the SD card and used TWRP?
Also, what is so special about that file?
I have the L14 (64gb US version) and just about the same exact problem you describe.
If you have any extra steps that would help me recover mine that would be great.

I followed the instuctions for the honor 7. I would recommend finding the full update firmware for your phone. It took me a lot of googling to find it. Make sure it is the correct firmware, you need to match the numbers before the B-- for me it was (FRD-L04C567) and for you it would be (FRD-L14????) I hope this helps.

After you flash the firmware, you must format data with emui recovery, and it will boot up
After trying different methods, this one works
Download

2. Honor_8_Firmware_FRD-L04_Android_6.0_EMUI-4.1_C567B122_United_States_Nonspecific
Put on dload (sd card) #1 after shutdown the phone and put on the folder dload (Sd card) #2. after reboot your phone starts with android 6.0

Ok so i had the exact problem, im not sure if this will help but what I did was flash my cust recovery system and boot through bootloader, I then put the dload folder on my sdcard with the update.app in it, from there I put my phone into download mode so hold all 3 buttons until it goes into download mode. Once there it will automatically install the update.app, and you should be good to go. If not than go to recovery mode do a factory reset and wipe the cache and see if that works.

How to downgrade firmware?

I have a new SHT-AL09 with 172 firmware and a locked bootloader.
This firmware prohibits DC-Unlocker from reading the bootloader unlock code.
How do I downgrade to a previous firmware?
Try HuRUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/unbrick-mediapad-m5-install-otas-t3856312
You should be able to install TWRP even with locked bootloader. Download the full OTA and follow the HuRUpdater instructions.
Has anyone tried it yet?
Don't want to be the first, since I do not feel too comfortable and I am awqy for a few days

I think there is very little risk. Even when the downgrade fails, you should be able to just flash 172 again with HuRUpdater to restore back the original state. Don’t try to rollback too far, install the last version prior to 172 and try dc unlocker again.
I asked on a german Forum and got the response that TWRP cannot be installed with locked BL - which I find somewhat logical - however, I am reaching for the unlikely event that I can get an open Bootloader somehow....
I am a little confused by the instructions. I have to put the TWRP.img in the folder on the SD Card together with the HuRUpdater.zip file and the firmware zip files. But then what? How do I flash anything?

I cannot flash TWRP with my locked bootloader. I get an error FAILED (remote: Command not allowed) when I try this when the M5 is in fastboot mode: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img

Absolute prerequisite: unlocked bootloader
I don't have this so is there another way to downgrade the firmware?
OK, bummer. You can try the dload method, not sure if that works for downgrades though: dload

Firmware Finder apparently does not work with EMUI8 anymore.
And there is no rollback package available for the M5.
I have always found a solution for these kind of problems on XDA (and I have had a bricked device or two) but for the moment I am at a loss.
Guess I will have to learn to live without root and with the stock Huawei firmware...

Sorry mate, tough luck. ? I think the hardware of the device is pretty nice, but the stock firmware is so full of crap and spyware, totally unacceptable.
when downgrading using dload, check for xloader version first.

From my latest findings:
Bootloader need to be unlocked for DOWNGRADE to sucess in firmware mode with a working dload service repair firmware.
With locked bootloader you'll only be able to DOWNGRADE in eRecovery mode with the latest firmware approved (It will be a downgrade only if said version is the latest approved fetched in eRecovery and inferior to yours current)
I did not find yet how the latest firmware shown/available in eRecovery is fetched into eRecovery. I think it happens in normal mode sometimes when you're connected online. You'll then have to reboot later to eRecovery to be shown...
Now, for your SHT-AL09 B172 with august 2018 secutity patches, the only way to downgrade is to get your unlock code and vice&versa.
Luckyly, third-party sellers are just starting to provide working bootloader's unlock code online for around 30~50€.
New devices are supported.
You just pay, gave them Model ID, IMEI1, Serial, Product ID and you'll get your code within the next hours.
You just pay, gave them Model ID, IMEI1, Serial, Product ID and you'll got it within the next hours. I already tested it on few devices.
FunkyHuawei does it for 130€ per device with other services included.

I am also interested in rooting M5. Where you able to downgrade the tablet from B172 to B161?
No
I am also looking for a way to downgrade my Mediapad M5.
I have Hauwei MediaPad M5 CMR-AL09 (C432) currently running 8.0.0.192. dc-unlocker does not work with this version so I can not unlock bootloader.
This is what I have done:
* Format external sdcard into exfat. I used my Ubuntu Linux computer for this, sudo mkfs.exfat /dev/sdx1.
* Put the empty sdcard into the tablet.
* Download android app "Firmware Finder for Huawei" and I choose CMR-AL09C432B161 (8.0.0.161) FullOTA-MF. Downloaded that into update.zip file.
* I use android app FX File Explorer to get read/write access to the mediacard and to create the dload folder.
* I used android app FX File Explorer to extract only UPDATE.APP file into mediacard and the dload folder. The file is around 4.2GB in size when extracted. I also tried to put all files into dload folder but with the same result below.
* Open dialer and type in *#*#2846579#*#*. Go to software upgrade and choose SDCard upgrade. The tablet will now restart and do the downgrade.
* Problem now is that it goes into 5% and then fails.
Am guessing there is some protection to downgrade into 8.0.0.161 version.
Guys.. Let's solve this. :crying:

Hmhm. I downgraded my Mediapad M5 Pro from 8.0.0.172 to 8.0.0.161
This is what I did:
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...uer-huawei-mediapad-m5-ab-08-2018.892304.html
(short paraphrase of my downgrade-"guide" at android-hilfe.de)
1) check xloader-version
2) Download the potential downgrade from androidfilehost.ru (this worked for me, again, M5 PRO (CMR-AL19), Europe! https://androidhost.ru/byu )
2.1) The structure inside is firmware-name>software>dload
2.2) copy dload onto your SD (root directory)
3)The downgrade-process
3.1) power off the device
3.2) Volume up AND down AND Power Button for some seconds
3.3) Downgrade should start! If folder is not recognized, a Pink screen will appear - just do it from the start.
After rebooting, you should then have the version you wanted to downgrade to.
I have done this several times ( accidently updated once or twice )and it worked without any trouble.
The 5% thing: it stayed at 5% for quite some time. But it always went on after some time, at least for me
I read somewhere, sometime ago that with Firmware Finder the security check that is somewhere included in the file is not removed and therefore you cannot use those files. It seems imperative to me that one uses androidhost.ru (no guarantee that this information is right - so feel free to correct me )
ah, sorry only now I realized that you specified CMR-AL09, we had someone do it for SHT-AL-09, sorry :-/
but why don't you try the files from androidhost.ru (download the correct firmware! I linked the one for the M5 Pro! )
Thanks kev1807 for the input.
I tried the firmware you linked to for Huawei MediaPad M5 CMR-AL09 (C432) version 8.0.0.161. It did not work.
I found the version 8.0.0.190 on androidfilehost.ru and that worked. So I have now downgraded from 8.0.0.192 to 8.0.0.190 but that will not help me much. Downgrading into 8.0.0.161 still does not work.
I was on 8.0.0.192 and manage to use the file
"Huawei MadiaPad M5 CMR-AL19 hw eu Cameron-AL09A 8.0.0.190(C432) Firmware 8.0.0 r1 EMUI8.0 05014XYB [androidhost.ru]"
I have tried these packages but they have not worked.

ok, there is a more recent EMUI stock firmware (B520):
Honor6X-BLN-L22HNC675CUSTC675D2B520 (8.0.0.520) - Shared with pCloud
Keep all your files safe, access them on any device you own and share with just the right people. Create a free pCloud account!
e.pcloud.link
you can use https://www.dropbox.com/s/via9iigwa5q37rf/HWOTA_BLN_Eng.zip
to install it. Some infos about that here.
You should be able to use dload official update, and somehow "Huawei updater" software or "Huawei Firmware Finder" soft or app, also to instal it.
BUT ANYWAY, you should have stock recovery already with the build you install to get EMUI 8 !!! Did you check? That would be the case, after installing the above B520.
If not, look inside those B520 zip files (using "Huawei update extractor" software for update.app if I remember well, google "Huawei update extractor" for all infos), you will get recovery .img files. Flashable with Fastboot or twrp recovery.
But I thnik you are already on stock recovery, or will be after B520 update

Hello, I am having trouble using the DC-Unlocker software. I am trying to follow this tutorial from their official website to unlock the bootloader of my Huawei Mate 9 Lite (BLL-L23) but HiSuite does not seem to work. It shows a pop-up saying "HiSuite will be installed in your device" and then another saying "Instalation error. System version is too old". And then nothing happens, and HiSuite doesn't even recognize my phone.
I have Android 6.0 Marshmallow and I'm trying to upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat. Also, I have EMUI 4.1.3, and if I'm not mistaken, I should be able to upgrade it to EMUI 5.0.
EDIT: HiSuite seems to have installed the drivers 'Android Adapter PCUI' and 'DBAdapter Reserved Interface' despite the error, but not the 'Android Adapter Modem #2' one, and I don't know how to install it. I'd like to know I have everything needed to proceed successfully before paying the 4.00 €.

the tutorial you're following is the good one.
What is the OS version of your computer ? try another one!
Try also to install diectly the huwei drivers without hisuite:
Huawei_Android_USB_Driver
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.

Thank you for replying.
My PC runs on Windows 10, so I don't think that is a problem. I could try a Virtual Machine with another one though, which one do you recommend?
As for the instalation, do I have to uninstall my current drivers in order to install the ones you are providing me? Or does it not matter? I will try them ASAP.
P.S.: I found this thread in the DC-Unlocker forums of someone saying not all phones have the 'Android Adapter Modem #2' drivers and it should be possible to read the bootloader code of a Honor 6X without it (I am assuming that Mate 9 Lite == Honor 6X at this point). Should I trust this?
I apologize for the amount of questions, you just seem like an experienced person, and I thank you again for taking the time and having the patience of answering.
