Reserved cause I'm special

Guess I'll go first. I can confirm the VS995 works with the deodexed US996 and H918 Konverged Kernel.
Also I can confirm that the google assistant app works with the VS995 stock rom and also the deodexed US996 rom.
Nothing much else to confirm yet but if I think of anything I'll add it.

Yes I'm on Verizon. I'm using the US996 ROM and an H918 kernel though.

Looks like @twistedvip found a way to tether. Thanks...Just wish the DNS automatically configured itself. Please go by and hit thanks on his thread >HERE<
EDIT: Didn't have to do a thing. So happy......Did this method and rebooted. Laptop connected and works. No DNS changing ......

I'm waiting until it gets a little more settled. I have experience with flashing on my old G3 and unbricking it but this V20 is a little too expensive to risk bricking.

I have no problems at all. Unlocking the bootloader and rooting was pretty easy. I made sure I had everything the OP said and BAM !!!! It was done in 20 mins or so

Even experienced people brick(Im bricked right now) but thats part of the risk. My brick thankfully looks exactly like a standard failed update bootloop. So im going to try to replace through sprint.

There was a dev on the old LG G2 that said he bricked 3 devices in 2 weeks trying to get a certain ROM ported lol

Really? Well that's awesome - I'll edit my thread then. Thanks for letting me know it worked out for you! In my free time I've been just going through the EntitlementcheckService app source to see if I can change it to just simply allow us to use it without even working about changing our build.prop. From using logcat it seems like it still goes through some provisioning when it detects it's an AT&T device (even when you using net.tethering.noprovisioning=true in the build.prop).

Sorry

Well I just found a way to enable the Hotspot function and it works without having to change your provider from ATT to OPEN. I'll edit my thread in a second.

I've been using it since he released it. Haven't had any issues really. But then again I only used Bluetooth once. Still has static boot. Not sure what causes that issue..

Yes, still had Bluetooth issues...after flashing due to the instructions...and NOT wiping. So....I wiped, and don't seem to have any Bluetooth issues. I NOW have Google "Always On" issues. It won't stay on...and doesn't respond to "OK Google." Trying to do this, also makes the phone extremely laggy. I'll post the same in the actual Tilde88 thread.

[TOOL] Auto Deodex/Debloat AT&T One X

This tool will automatically deodex your AT&T One X if its rooted and has Busybox installed (one click root tool already does all of this for you). This should make it easier for folks to install modifications since we don't have a CWM .zip of deodexed files quite yet.
http://briefmobile.com/auto-deodex-tool-for-htc-one-x-att
Also, developers are encouraged to take a look at the batch commands. You guys can make custom ROM installers and such with very little effort. This will work until we have CWM.
Edit: Linux version thanks to JeepFreak! http://www.filefactory.com/file/58m4z62jgn51/n/linux-light-deodex_tar_gz
JeepFreak - This currently only works for the 1.72.X releases. It has not been successful on the leaked updates.
Downloading right now.
Will report back with results.
Edit: links are broken.

Oops, didn't realize previous poster had edited to say it.

It should work on a Rogers device, although you guys already have CWM (which is much easier/less messy). You can certainly install busybox through the market if you're rooted.

Total noob here and had to look up what Deodex does. If this article is correct, then this is mostly just useful for theming? Otherwise what would be the benefit of this?

Worked perfectly!! Full deodex on at&t hox
how is deodexing a rom going to give you anything else than whats already on your rogers device?
So flash our CWM then this tool?
caution-
just a kind word of caution to fellow users:
the first time i ran this i got a soft brick, probably because i was already partially debloated.
however,
i flashed the stock RUU, rerooted, retried this program and it seems to have worked just fine. thanks for the tool!

The biggest thing is he now has a base. I sent Scott our system dump and boot.img files and he put something together, and while he couldn't test it, I did at the risk of bricking my phone so we can all have a clean base for ROMS. You're welcome

There are zero advantages to the "average" person. None at all...
Unless you fall into these categories...
1. Screwed your phone up and half the things just don't work right because you "read something on the internet to make your phone (battery last longer, speed it up, random useless failed feature here)" and it didint quite go the way you expected it to and you cannot send TXT messages (just a random made up example). This would be a great way to fix that...
2. You flashed "Dev A's" ROM and you realized that the color (random color here) is not for you and you are about to go insane but are on the road so you can just flash this back to get back to a stock look.
3. You want to build your own ROM for personal use and you really dont know where to begin but you know what apps you DONT want in the phone. Yo could use this base to get started.
4. Your another Dev that doesnt have the experience of setting up a stock rooted ROM and may need to use this base to get started. Many people use my stock rooted ROMS across a MULTITUDE of devices because they trust that they are as close to perfect in all aspects as possible. (I was a newb once too and needed to use other stock roots).
If you dont fit into those categories... Then this rom has no value to you.

LG G3 Keyboard for CM/AOSP ROMs

Hi everyone,
I've been using non-stock ROMs for quite a while and I was always flashing LG keyboards, cause I find them really handy to use.
I had asked in the Official CM13's thread, if anyone had known a compatible LG keyboard, but no one had answered.
After some search, I found this thread, and after flashing the keyboard I found out that it works flawlessly with CM13 (latest nightly) for my G2, too. Of course I take no responsibility for any kind of problem that might occur during/after flashing the .zip, as I said it works just fine with my G2.
All credits should be given to @siankatabg who made the .zip, all I did was just search G3's forum and test if it works.
Hope this helped anyone looking to flash a LG keyboard to his/her CM13 based ROM. If the thread is against the rules, I'd like to apologize in advance, and mods, feel free to delete it.
It works on g2 too, that's nice, but should work on other cm/aosp roms.
Can you please change the title when someone report that the Keyboard works on other roms than cm13, so I don't need to make a new thread here

Well said however get twrp to work for me was a hell of a job and fear if would end up bricking my device. Just trying to be careful on this.
Better to learn from mistakes of others than to make one yourself.
I am not a developer and not sure of how to set my device back to normal may god forbid if I end up messing it up.
Hope this clarifies my question above

well... If you already have TWRP installed, do a nandroid backup and if anything goes wrong just recover form it, there is no way that just flashing this will brick your phone beyond recovery point, and even if in some way recovery got corrupted there's always a way, you can just run download mode and flash KDZ with stock rom using flash tool 2014. Anyway I went ahead and tried it myself on Lineage 14.1 ( Android 7.1.1.) and it doesn't work, I mean i did flash it and it seems that everything went well but after reboot it just wasn't there. You better off with Google Keyboard (you can get it at google play store)
BTW. The easiest way to get TWRP on LG G2 is just flash stock lollipop root it, and than flash "Autorec for lollipop", when it's done just go to recovery and flash newest TWRP available and you're golden.
Flashed the file in language and inputs in settings lg keyboard shows up but I enable it reboot still have aosp keyboard tried disabling aosp keyboard and lg gets automativmcally blacked out with it any help appreciated!!!

This looks interesting, what kernel did you install after installing the ROM itself. I"ve seen Boeffla, SmartPack, and Phoenix for TW Roms for verizon. There could be others I suppose in other threads though.
Also, did you do anything with CSC, That's an acronym that I'll have to look up and I've never had to worry about that option. Debloated as it is, is really nice, I'd say it's one of , if not, the fastest TW rom out. But I'm looking for something to debloat myself if possible as I wanted the theme engine from another newer phone like for example the s7/8/9 or note series or whatever phone, but substratum would be the shiznit.
Thanks for the reply, and I'm still collecting info from everyone else the more opinions the merrier IMHO that way not only myself but maybe others can make a decision.
I ran Phoenix 15 a while bak and it was a pain to install and use. But the theme engine worked flawlessly. I have all the files from one of the newer phones I found somewhere that after you copy them to the right places and restart your phone you can use s7 or s8 themes I beleieve.
Ahh that's cool the csc code can meke you TW ROM think your phone is something else... VERY COOL>

I like phones that look like "official", "untouched" and don't use rooted phones in everyday life.
That's why I use stock SM-G900V kernel for both CID15 and 11.
But if you have a CID15 phone, you can unlock the bootloader and use any kernel, of course.

Yes, the most obvious options are the APNs for local operators (I'm on the opposite side of the Globe from Verizon ) and some useful features as the phone call voice recorder.
But mostly I use this ROM because it's international and contains many languages - I use 2 languages besides English in my everyday life .
On the other hand, SM-G900V is a very good and inexpensive device and works just excellent with this ROM.

Nothing special.
The main idea is to use the system image from a good international ROM and the rest of firmware parts from the most recent G900V stock ROM.
Devbase idea is great and beautiful itself but I think is not that much needed for G900V.
Personally I use this ROM in stock unrooted variant.
The ROM (system image) is flashed to G900V from SafeStrap recovery.

Personally you use which rom?
My issues or quirks so far, going back to older twrp, just the right one so that my SD can be read, and I think none of the earlier versions that allow aroma to function correctly, can deal with my ExtSD that is set as internal in storage in N and O. So, I bit the bullet and tried a couple taking care to flash the correct kernel in each case. However, my efforts were fruitless, and I ended up completely wiped. And while I keep a lot backed up regularly, It had been a while but I didn't lose much important stuff but more like stuff I just don't like having to chase down, like the latest magisk, nanodroids zips, xposed, custom kernel, and so on..
Either way, after trying two different roms, Nemesis and Noise, which I was really looking forward to running, neither worked well. I can't remember making calls or sending texts, but I do remember a lot of apps crashing constantly but perhaps there's more to do that select a kernel, the one thing they ask you to select doesn't have an option for vzw. The code thing, that's probably what screwed me on both attempts.
For those who are wondering, there's the phoenix ROM in the vzw dev thread. It does have the theme engine from Samsung. I just wanted to try something like Noise or another Rom.
Also I remember downloading the files needed from somewhere to add to a stock rom to add the theme engine. There's quite a bit, but I'm almost certain this would work, for the theme engine, but I'd like to try some of the newer samsung apps.
I kinda really hate going back to to stock based rom because I have a feeling it's not going to be up to date with security patches. That's one thing I like about running Oreo, and even Nougat, there have been several dev's / builders releasing roms with the latest security patches baked in.. RR for example on AndroidFileHost, I think I saw viper, and others as well.
I'm still undecided at this point, and I'm just getting my apps back and with everything else after my accidential SD wipe when I tried to install one of the roms. That really sucked because my last full phone backup was a year ago.
Keep me posted if you guys get any of those ROM's from there working.
Well I've tried a couple and none of them have cell service of any type working for me. I've tried Noise and Unique to no avail. Unique booted fine but no service, Noise wouldn't get past the initial boot screen. This is just my experience so YMMV.
Oh, I've had excellent luck with the Phoenix ROM for CID 15 phones. Everything works as it should. But I still prefer AOSP or LOS based ROMS. If I can only get data working as it should when I'm not on Verizon towers.

Fix for Root lag Issues! OREO! Very close to stock speeds! [ENG kernel]

FOR THOSE WITH LAG ISSUES:
You will still be rooted using this method!
(I posted this on the oreo rooting thread in a reply but making a thread so maybe more can see it!
I was well aware of the lag issues that came with using the eng kernel, but it got to the point even with all the tweaks & mods (L-speed, kernel auditor, etc.) I was still experiencing severe lag (mainly doing things like listening to music and using snapchat at the same time, phone became unusable with alot of hangs and freezes!)I was just about to flash back to stock oreo because I felt that the trade off of Root for lag wasn't balanced.
But then I remembered seeing a post in one of these threads...might've been during Nougat days or more recent oreo, I do not remember, either way, flashing the stock BL in odin would fix lag completely. I was willing to give it a shot mainly because I was going to go back to stock anyway if it didn't work and to my surprise the phone booted! After everything settled after boot, I already noticed the difference, it was substantial!
Now, if you have already fixed your lag issues by other means then you don't need to read this post! but for some that still have tried everything and you still experience extreme lag, these are the steps I took to fix mine:
1. Was rooted on @jrkruse [Rom][ALL_CARRIERS_CRG2][Stock_Oreo_Hybrid] ( the lastest one which is CRG2) -------> this is the only rom I can say this works on as I have only tried it on this rom
2. Assuming you are already running his rom and not stock oreo (if you are running stock oreo then I cannot say if this will work for you or not, I would suggest going to his rom)
3. In his OP in, [Rom][ALL_CARRIERS_CRG2][Stock_Oreo_Hybrid], download the odin files (SM-G935U_G935UUEU4CRG2.zip)
4. Extract it and find the file [BL_G935UUEU4CRG2]
5. reboot your phone into download mode and flash the stock BL
NOTE: By the time I did this I was already on @jrkruse CRG2 ROM and already rooted, so I suggest the same to avoid any unseen complication! Flash the rom using his instructions, root using his rooting guide and then try this
This worked for me great! I can say that the phone is running VERY close to stock speeds and I have not noticed a single stutter or framedrops, I even tried remaking the same situation that would cause the phone to freeze and the phone did perfectly after doing this!
Let me know if this has worked for anyone else!
Edit:
This is also fixed my heating issues as well, the phone does not get extremely hot anymore
Edit 2:
along with this fix, I have L-speed set to 'Performance' profile and governor set to interactive, no other tweaks
Wow
Works great thanks for being the man

I did this on the s7 edge but looking at the s7 flat forums it looks like you can.
You'll have to be on @jrkruse [Rom][ALL_CARRIERS_CRF1][Stock_Oreo_Hybrid] from that thread (in the verizon flat forums not this forum)
Get the stock odin files from his OP (in the verizon flat forums not this forum) [G930TUVU4CRF1_G930TTMB4CRF1_TMB.zip] ----> this is what you want from his post
Extract and flash the stock BL from that zip after you have installed the ROM and rooted it with his root method
That was very helpful. I did use the suggestion you mentioned and gave noticed a difference in speed and lag. It is much more responsive
Huge difference no lag at all been running about a week now and it's running great thanks again
Just did this fix on my S7 flat and on first boot already noticed a huge difference in boot time and lag! Thanks for this!

Awesome! That's great! I saw you talking about speed in @jrkruse root thread and was going to link this to you the other day but I just didn't have the time to with life and things! I want to make this more well known to the people in that thread or actually to all S7 users! I have no idea how or why it works it just does! Was hoping to see if @jrkruse or maybe @stang5litre would try or maybe view this too! I actually first posted this on his root thread on page 64 but I didn't think many people would see it there so I decided to make a thread

Awesome! Thank you! Maybe if this fix is actually something worth noting then you can try implementing in your Rom! Orrrr maybe I'm just flattering myself but either way Thanks for taking a look! It makes a huge difference in my case and in others!
That would be awesome, I remember running your roms back in the day!

No you are still on ENG kernel, this fix has nothing to do with kernel, we are flashing stock bootloader over Oreo ENG bootloader but for some reason it improves speed and decreases lag by alot
After running this for the past two days now, I can clearly say that it has helped immensely with the lag and the heat issues. My phone is running almost as fast as my Pixel and I am no where near the heat that I used to be. I am also using L speed set to performance and I have no complaints at all. I am not usually one to fall prey to the "placebo affect" where you just think it is running faster, this actually is.

Thats great to hear! I've used this for about a week and a half now and like you said the difference is night & day, wanted to share it with everyone so they could use it too!
Hey brother wondering if you did this for the updated CRG2 update and if so did it work as good as before?

I haven't updated mainly because I don't want to wipe data and reset up phone but I'm 99% sure it should work look at at the new instructions from CRG2, but just to make sure, reflash the stock bootloader after you update anyway
I tried it on my S7 flat and it gave me a nice bootloop LOL,,,,prob just a glitch cause I did the same thing as I did before and it worked so weird.

How did you do it? Did you flash new Rom then immediately flash stock BL or did you let rom boot first?
