I use Energie ROM(I do not remember which version) and the camera application is version 2012.1425.
When I used the phone with the stock ROM and I set the flash to always on it starts one of the LEDs and when it is dark the camera manages to focus very well. But with the current version(2012.1425) when the flash is set to always on none of the LEDs is constantly on and they are turned on only when taking a picture so the focus in dark places is very bad.
Could someone give me a link to older version(or perhaps a solution) where the flash set to always on acts as described?
oh yes, i do have d same problem as well.. I have constantly been using Energy ROM for quite some time now and i've noticed it since d very first time. We couldnt be happier if this glitch could be solved anytime soon. NRGZ, man we need d flash! peace y'all!
+1
could anybody post older camera version?
bump !
I've been wondering about this also. Any ideas anyone?
No-one know of a regedit to change the camera settings so that when you turn the flash "On", the LED lights up continuously prior to taking a pic (as oppose to staying off and just flashing as the photo is taken)?
I've the same problem. No solutuion?

I use Artemis ROM and it's the same with these as well. A fix would be greatly appreciated
.... up! .....
This problem is almost everywhere. I mean I only had on ROM which handled the camera this was, as it should be, and thats the original ROM. All others including the updated original ROM wouldn't allow me to use the flash as I want to.
Too bad.
Just for the record, I used several WM 6 ROMs and even more Android ROMs and now I am trough with like 6 different WP7 ROMs and none of these seems to allow me to use the flash this way.
Is this really a so hard to manage feature? I am no developer but comeon, can't be impossible. So far everything what de developers did was better than the original ones but whats with this?

You mentioned the cause already. We are not the HTC developers and we don´t have the sources of this app. So it´s nearly impossible to make the flash do what you want without having the chance to change anything

I think that this is not completely true, to have the flash working as mentioned would request the older camera driver, someone has posted them on xda but links are dead now, but a ROM cooker should be able to do that starting from an older ROM as 1.48 or 1.66 .. just think that no one is intrested

Exactly what I meant. It can be done by a Chef.
Maybe it is a lack of interest or I don't know.
ok , maybe we got it.
I asked Sir Sternas (proven chef of astounding Artemis ROM series) to restore older camera and the answer was

this mean you should flash an Artemis ROM , but since it's the most advanced, rock solid and multilanguage ,that should be just a gain.
So since Sternas is waiting for users requests, all those who want the flash working as previously please ask for that in Artemis thread and we'll finally solve this matter
good news!

I mean now since the sd card slot is working can someone tell me if anyone has been working on a rom?
Not gonna happen until Google releases the HC source code. There are lots of other threads so if you search you might find more details!
The problem is not so much the working sd card (this will help for Clockwork Recovery), but for the rom the HC source is required and that hasn't been released yet.
Once Clock Work is working, will we be able to install Froyo ROMs?
Umm, I guess you could create a Froyo ROM but the question is why would you want to?

CWM is now working on both models. You can find it in the development section.

Cool now all we have to do is wait for the hc release for some roms.

I can't imagine wanted to downgrade to Froyo from honeycomb. Everytime I start to get disappointed there is no custom ROM I can't think of why I would want one yet. The Xoom is fast, responsive, and other than the SD card, works great. Built-in host mode support would also be nice.

What are you looking for in a ROM? I've only had an android phone for a few days (thunderbolt) but most of the ROMs I see don't really apply to the XOOM. The features seem to be things like:
-debloating
-removing or updating UI layers like sense
-porting stuff from other phones
-custom kernels (already avail. on xoom)
There are certainly some things that can be done without HC source
A custom ROM would be nice that included all the following without having to jump through a bunch of hoops:
Rooted
SD Card Support
USB Host Mode

Something similar to Bugless Beast or Cyanogen. The things you mention are usually part of or included in ROM's.

[ MyTouch 4G Slide - Boot Manager Pro Compatibility ]
I'm not affiliated with Init 2 Winit Apps in any way. I'm just an average user aiming to help the community.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boot Manager Pro is an application that allows you to boot different ROMs easily (the App claims in can handle unlimited slots, as long as your SD Card supports it ). Kinda like Dual Booting Linux and Windows, two different operating systems on one computer. Boot Manager Pro is like that, you set up your default ROM through recovery and then you "Install" ROMs on separate slots, and then you boot them with a simple tap. This is perfect for Flashaholics and anyone who simply desires to test a ROM, no need to be constantly backing up and restoring different ROMs from nandroids.
This App is NOT free, you can get it from the Android Market for $2.99 [as of Feb 25, 2012]
Over the past few days I've been playing with this app, trying to get ROMs running on it. Some MyTouch 4G Slide ROMs are compatible with Boot Manager Pro, others aren't. This thread aims to list what ROMs work, and what ROMs don't work with this app. If you've tried any additional ROMs, please add a comment and let us know! Also! I recommend plenty of storage space. Each ROM would take about 1.9 GB off your SD Card. I recommend a 16GB Class 6 or 10 card. Whatever suits you best!
This App was developed by Init 2 Winit Apps. Credits and a Screen shot are attached.
Working ROMs
Pyr'o'Ice ICS Desensed 1.1.1
Pyr-o-Ice Sense 1.1.0
Virtuous Unity 2.39.0 ROM (I wasn't able to install it from ZIP, instead I had to install it from recovery, run a nandroid backup, and then restore the nandroid to a ROM Slot on Boot Manager Pro. This ROM has the original stock Doubleshot Camera)
TBalden's CM9 OpenSensation Port
Rubix ICS 5.3 (thanks dung8604)
Wildchild IcE v0.1 ALPHA (AOKP/CM9)
ICS Virtuous ROMs should work (not tested)

NON-Working ROMs
MIUI (tbalden was able to get it working by unplugging the USB, removing the battery, and rebooting constantly until it worked - if it works for someone else, please confirm)
CM7
Virtuous Infinity (thanks NovaxxBite)
Hopefully we can find a reason why these ROMs don't work. It can perhaps be the version/kernel of the Phone's ROM, who knows!
If anyone can get one of these ROMs working by Flashing them as the phone ROM from recovery, making a nandroid, and restoring the nandroid to a separate slot, please let us know!

If anyone has tried any other ROMs, please let us know! Also, messing with the Boot Manager Pro settings may enable some ROMs under "Non-Working" to work, I have yet to try it.

Good thread. Perhaps we can e mail the developers and bring it to their attention
Not sure how, but I got rubix 5.3 working with boot manager. Stock kernel, I believe.

I think I have a copy of that ROM sitting on my SD Card, I loved how smooth that ROM was but I started disliking it when it began to be stripped out of it's core functions... Like, when the DS camera was removed. Thanks for the heads up!
What's your Phone ROM currently ?

Currently on pyr o ice 1.1.1, gonna update soon to 1.1.2. I believe I was able to flash the gallery and camera zip fixes. I plan on using it mainly for tv out, and if I want really good pictures. Day to day, camera ics and/or the sensation camera that came with pyr o ice is good enough.
If you want to keep all that stuff, just use 5.2. There isn't a whole lot of difference between the two.
On another note, I've been trying for like four hours to get miui.us to load in slot 2. Still no go. I have no clue how tbalden got it to load.

I used to have 5.2, well... Whatever, I'll give it a shot later! Pyroice does have a good Camera, but it's missing 1080p recording. I use Pyroice as my daily driver, and if I need to take an HD video I just switch quickly.
I loaded MIUI as my Phone ROM, But I've had no luck getting it on any slot. It gets stuck on the Splash screen. I asked tbalden for advice and he suggested the battery pull technique, I gave
up after 6 boots... Lol!
Same here, I don't know how he got it working. I'm not even all that interested in miui, but not being able to load is is annoying. Boot manager is really flaky sometimes.

It's worth $3.00 though, It really isn't much.
I love the idea which I'd why I paid for it but it clearly isn't ready for prime time. It never works for me.

I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what, but this app is flaky for me. Can't get wildchild's ROM booting, and I really want to try it
I was able to boot CM7 selfkang via BootManager.
one thing i notices is when you first create a slot you have to make sure the screen dosnt go to sleep because if it dose it seems to stop creating the .img files and then they are not in the proper size they should be and that seems to cause issues at least for me i dont know if anyone else experienced this issues.
After the files were created successfully install CM7 in it worked perfectly for me.
Honestly, I've done everything right. This app is beta at best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Hello.
I'm flashing my wife's ChaCha with different ROMs and I was wondering if there is something better than Stock based ROMs.
I value most battery life, second memory space (have the SD card partitioned and using Link2SD right now). Don't need HTC Sense or any other bloatware.
I just need the camera to take pictures, so I can sacrifice the front camera too...
So, what ROM do you guys recommend me to try to have the BEST battery life?
- Stock based (like Hegoxen
- CM7
- SuperOSR 2.5
- CM9
- CM10

I was having problems with the DIALER draining the battery, so yesterday I flashed SuperOSR (CM7.2 based) and so far drainage issues seem to have stoped.
Will post again in a couple of days with the results.
go for ajeevlal port mate, you will never regret it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365533 Release 3 is the one you must install

as you know, no front camera, sometimes bluetooth issues, other than that, u've got a wonderful CM10!
Forget
Forget all what you heared and try ajeevel CM10.1 Rom it has everything you can imagine
Hey guys,
I hope I hope I'm not overlooking if any threads have been created in regards to this.
I've been watching the releases for a while and am still not certain which CM will be good for a daily ....
I'm currently running cm-10.1-20130309-UNOFFICIAL, this was posted as the last "Stable" that I could find.
Besides the charging issue, I'm having people tell me than when using hands free in my vehicle there's a bad echo... I think I recall reading that both of those items have been addressed in future nightlies but it's not clear to me which nightly is good to use right now with regard to External SD issues etc.
Is anyone using a rom that has the battery charging, wifi tethering, and hands free bluetooth working without other major giltches ?
I updated to the latest OTA stock JB so all modems etc are up to date.
Thanks in advance!

By definition, "nightlies" have bugs. The tradeoffs are unavoidable.
What you may want to do is get yourself a deodexed stock Touchwiz ROM and cut out the bloat.
Also, Google screwed up Bluetooth in Jelly Bean. Even stock roms are having problems.
