My wife left the window open near my only laptop that have, and a thunderstorm came through.......well you no the rest. Dead laptop after it completly dried, I get power but a driver is stuck in loop mode, so only the boot screen shows up. Well my question is do anybody on xda developers no how, or no anyone who knows how to change roms using only a wizard. I have a t-mobile mda (waiting for the fall for new pocket pc releases) with current wm6 rom crossbow reloaded 1.7. Would like to change to mfrazz xda6 (the real wizard window mobile 6 rom from ngenetics) rom. I thought I read somewhere that someone changed there rom with their pocket pc from the SD card. Please read my question thoroughly. I no theres a method by using a card reader and entering bootloader.....and so on, and so on. I have no access to any type of computer ( until I buy a new one ), and I need instructions or someone point me into the direction for changing my rom with just my pocket pc. I will continue to search forums, google, or whatever myself until we get and answer to this. Thank you all for reading my new post, and helping out in any form or fashion. Oh yeah I forgot to mention; please do not post or respond with any negativity. I no it say junior member ( noob) next to my users name , but i'm a grown ass man so respect me like one. Remember i'm the senior noob.
This is a little off topic, but have your tried booting your laptop and then pressing the F8 key before the Windows boot screen is displayed? From this screen you can try the "Last Known Good...." or try to boot into safe mode. If that doesn't work, you can try booting from your Windows CD and doing a repair installation of windows? If you can get power and it sticks at the boot screen, then some of your boot files may be corrupted. I'm assuming that you have Windows XP. Hope this helps. I don't know anything about flashing ROMs from the SD card, but have heard something about that in this forum or HoFo.
STOP TRYING TO TURN IT ON!! you're making it worse. trust me.
i work as a computer technician, i fix machines that have been spilled on all the time.
shut it down, take it somewhere to have it fixed. it might be dry on the OUTSIDE, but the inside is either
1.) still wet
2.) corroded chips that are shorting out
the only way to really tell, is disassemble it. take everything apart, REMOVE ALL ELECTRICITY to the computer, and check to see where the liquid is and what damage it has done. if you see corrosion spots, get a soft bristle tooth brush, run the part under water and use mild soap to brush it off. rinse it off, then let it dry for 48 hours minimum.
do not do this with the hard drive, optical drive, or LCD - just PCBs.
i've had dozens of computers come to me that had an entire cup of soda/beer/tea/coffee/water, etc. on it and was able to get it working. Water is the easiest to fix, as there are no sugars or anything to bond to the components.
its not the liquid that causes the problem, its the electricity running through it.
lol at this point i think im more worried about your laptop, and i am pretty sure there is a way to boot off of an sd card but im not sure, im sure somone here will know
h4ck must be a member of the geek squad!
my sony vaio laptop
when I saw my laptop it was soak and wet. I removed the keyboard pad, and unscrewed all the screws. Yes there was water on the inside, and I tried to dry it as much as possible. Went on vacation came back three weeks later. Before there was no power, when I return home I turn on my laptop and voila, it comes. I hit the f8 key and started it from its last known good config. System restarts but a small blue screen appears, then disappears. So I return to the bootscreen option and started it up in safe mode with networking. Everything came on in safe mode in a smaller screen size. I went to start/computer system/vaio recovery. Now this is were I messed up. Insted of using the last good config. check point, I used complete system recovery back to its normal state the way I bought it. all programs and software will be deleted.(just like a hard reset for pocket pc). It did a complete recovery of my hard drive c, and restore everything to factory settings. Now when it restarts a message says its missing some files and to repair this hit the "r" key and insert the windows xp cd-rom disc. I did this but it won't boot from the hard disk for some reason. Then after some time from trying to boot from the cd-rom disc, a small blue screen appears with the message: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati2dvag. The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. please check your hardware device vendor for any driver updates. technical information: *** stop: 0x000000EA (0x81cB2440, 0x81E0A440, 0xF896DCB4, 0x00000001) ati2dvag- beginning to dump of physical memory-physical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance." Sorry guys for the long story but thats everything. I know this is a forum about PDA's but i'm just responding to the response. By the way have anybody found anything yet?
I won't flame you, but this was posted in the wrong forum regardless of what ROM you are using to flash to your device. Just keeping things clean.
Yeah, you're on the right track. You need to make a note of the file it says it's missing and the directory path. Then boot using the XP CD and choose r for recovery console. Depending on the number of windows partitions, you may need to choose the correct partition and provide an administrator password. After that you will see a DOS-like prompt. Copy the missing file from the XP CD to the hard drive. The command should look something like this:
expand d:\i386\missingFile.ex_ c:\windows\system32
D: is your CDROM and C: is your hard drive. Make sure you copy it into the directory that you made a note of earlier.
Also, here is a link that talks about an infinite loop problem with ATI drivers http://www.sightsea.com/pghpchd/pages/infinite_loop.html
Hi,
After a mounth of problem caused by my mini-usb connector, I weld it this morning. But, I cannot sync it by usb anymore. I have to sync it by bluetooth. Anyway do you think there is a possibility to upgrade it with an SD card or another solution?
I thank you.
Hi,
My first thoughts would be..
"how am I going to charge the battery",
pointless pursuing an upgrade in the circumstances?!
STI
I don't see charging being an issue, as he may very well have power even if not data running on his connector, and even if that's not the case, there's plenty standalone battery chargers on ebay. Not the perfect scenario, but grab a second battery if you don't already own one and it's suddenly way better than tossing you uni.
About the SD card ROM loading...
I've seen a few posts on it, but I reckon the SD image is always created by dumping the current loaded ROM.
So, I imagine you'll need someone else so make you an SD image of the ROM you need/want.
As for the actual dumping of the OS, I never did it, so I can't really help you there.
It's not about the uni, but here's this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=899768&postcount=8
Still, as I told you, I believe you'll need a third party to supply you with the ROM dump, and even then, be damn careful that you both have the some devices (i.e. both G3 or both G4) as it probably matters.
Take this as a hint in (what I believe is) the right direction. By no means I can guarantee that this is the only way to go about it.
Best of luck!
I have the same problem with my HTC prophet device...since i upgraded to wm6 , problem came when I activated Wm5torage
I can still charge it with my usb cable but nothing more...I`m looking to download an SD image backup from somebody
If somebody can help ...
I have the same problem, having replaced the socket it also just now charges and shows in windows as an unknown port. I have checked all the connection on the PDA motherboard and everything appears OK when measured with a meter. As windows recognises that there is a port there, it seems likely that the clock and data are available. If this is the case, it should be recognised. I can only assume that somehow the OS has become corrupt. This seems to be quite a common thing, and it would be nice if someone could throw some light on why this happens.
If the clock and data are available, meaning that the two computers can communicate, you should be able to reflash the device, since Bootloader mode circumvents the OS, and the RUU has it's own drivers for communicating with the device, evidenced by the fact that it shuts down ActiveSync to avoid interference.
Try putting the device into bootloader, then initiating a flash. If there's something, anything, wrong with the dataport, the RUU will be unable to flash. If the ROM Upload starts, the it will probably finish too without a hitch. And you'll have a new working Uni.
Also, it is not possible to flash via SD card, since the SD port can only be used with the appropirate drivers loaded, and that's done by the OS. Flashing is done while in bootloader mode, which circumvents all of the OS, and uses a separately stored on board program to access the main ROM, screen and dataport.
It is possible to flash a new Rom via the SD Card.
It does however require another device to dump the image onto the SD Card first.
Search the forum and you will find specific details on the procedure.
I believe Midget made a post about the process not so long ago.
Also could all peeps please keep these sort of issues in the upgrading section, you are more likely to get better answers there.
This forum is meant to be purely for WM6 on the Universal.
Cheers,
Beasty

Whoops sorry am getting a little off topic here. Anyway boot load will not work so port is probably faulty. Got a version of WM6 on it anyway, so will use as is.
I have been looking at an low cost tablet to tinker/play/abuse. I can't see spending 400-500 on a tablet that I will break/brick while playing around with. I was looking at the superpad/a8/flytouch2/etc, then I found the superpad2/flytouch3.
Anyone have any input or suggestions about this device.
I have had mine a week or so, which this is my first android device. I like it so far, but, not that many prople have them yet so I am afraid to start *tinkering*. I have been trying to find a official forum thread dedicated to the tablet, but cannot. The tablet runs froyo ok at most. The mic is awful, speakers are less output then my blackberry. The touchscreen could be somewhat more responsive. I am having a hard time rooting without a usb to usb. The tablet has some potential in the sense that it has 512 mb ram. The tablet does not run flash. I am waiting for someone to develop a honeycomb rom, which is tablet oriented.

I figured it out, but have not done it yet because the stupid usb to usb cord. All I have is micro and mini usb to usb.
First, you must declare your application as "debuggable" in your Android Manifest. To do this, go to the android website and go to devoloping then device. What I am not sure about is how to find the right driver for the ft3 that will allow you to see the system files and write to the android manifest file. If you are able to view and write to the android manifest, then that will enable the devolopers setting to actually enable the usb debugging. In essence, you have to enable the settings to enable the usb debugging. As soon as usb debugging is enabeled, then you can run Z4root.
Just ordered mine from Ebay last Sunday, so hopefully it will be here soon. Any estimates? I have a feeling there is a growing community for these tablets, because they really are a bang for your buck.
Well, it turned out to not be made by "Gnome" so I'm thinking we have all been shammed. Anyone that bought it, including me, has a knock off of a knock off in their hands. :/
Good Evening!
Any more progress with rooting this device?
I am having an impossible time trying to tether my Windows Mobile Phone to this device without Ad-Hoc Network Cababilities!
Thanks, Audi2Audi.

I just received mine and in one week I manage to root it, there is a program will makes you enabling the USB debugging, after enabling the USB debugging then I used the z4root to root it. the program for USB debugging is in the market I forget it's name since I'm new to android but search fro "root" or "rooted" then try the programs for that.
but now I played with the system and it's stopped in android logo. I press the MENU button mean while I pressed the POWER ON button then the system interned the recovery mode which has a default process by automatic recovery only with out any interfering from my side. also it's not working.
Any body has an idea how to format it from the laptop?
Just an update:
I think this is the program to enable the USB debugging:
Button Savior (Root)

I would post the links to a guide to successfully root this device and to the "official" (such as it is) tech support site for the Flytouch3 / Superpad 2. However, forums rules...
Contact me at [email protected] and I will forward you the links if you wish to have them...

JUST NEED A ROM CHIEF
don't know where else to post
i have purchased a flytouch 3 tablet.it has gps and needs an antenna which is external and a seperate piece.i would like to open the case and install an internal antenna.this antenna would still need to be powerful enough to grab the satelites (gps internal antenna available on ebay).don't know if this is doable,no electronics experience, just a thought.
then i was thinking of using the external space on the case from where the external gps antenna mount has been removed.i would like to connect a stronger dbs external(swivel)antenna to the wifi to extend my signal.
should you have a moment,thankyou.
i have a link on another computer, but if i remember, search for disassemble superpad 2.it has written instructions how to take apart the flytouch 2.there are two versions, one with screws and one without.mine has screws. i believe it to be the same case, minus the second tf slot.other take apart searches yielded little info.
to confirm, button savior and z4 worked for me to root.

Please be carefull when you open the device!
When you break your device, it's your problem
01. remove the 4 cover plates with a needle, then the 4 screws
02. you'll need a flat knife with a (about) 5mm blade
03. put the knife with the 5mm blade close to camera into the pad
04. lift up the display with the knife
05. lift up the display with a screw driver from inside the pen holder
06. unplug the touchscreen plug carefully
07. unplug the tft carefully
have fun!
poke around the same link and there are more instructions for the non screw version.as well as clips and tips.
Teardown
Hello guys, my first post here.
I bought mine on mar 26th from this store
ankaka . com
it was us$ 170 for the tablet + 25 for airmail shipping
I'm waiting for its arrival anything near 3 weeks and I'll post here
details when i will get hand on it.
For our friend who will install the internal GPS, please give us a kind
of teardown for the tablet with picutres!!
cheers, Denis
Sounds like an interesting operation...
Good luck & success!
Flytouch 3 has 5000mah battery, more nand (4gb), only one tft slot, froyo, usally comes with external gps antenna. I think there might be a option or two more that I missed. I believe these will become super popular if the hardware is generic enough, to warrent more development.

You can find firmware update here
Link for firmware is http://www.4shared.com/file/11HgaFfO/Disco_10inch_android22_2011031.html
To install the firmware, download the .zip on a PC from the link below. Extract the contents of the zip on a PC and copy the two files to the root directory of a formatted TF-Flash Card. The two extracted files must be placed in the root directory of the TF-card. Insert the card in to the Superpad2 FlyTouch3 and power on the tablet. The installation will be automatic.

Hi,
First of all, great site you've got there, been checking it ever since I laid my hands on my first htc g1.
Secondly, and I hope I'm not double-posting about an issue already raised, as I've screened the threads quite thoroughly.
Here's the issue I have with my MK808B.
I've tried to start it with a USB ubuntu pendrive plugged into the USB OTG (I had saved some files I wanted to transfer, didn't realize it would mess things up).
Regular start up with this hdmi key is Google tv screen > android screen > home screen.
I get stuck at android screen, no matter how long I wait.
Out of nowhere, I tried to use another 2A power supply, as this had been advertised on other threads, no sucess... I also tried to start it with a paperclip pressing the reset button, didn't work...
Honestly, I don't know what to do exactly, I think it might have tried to boot ubuntu out of the usb stick...
I think I have no option left but to flash it (thus losing all that is installed already on it).
Is there any trick that could restore things the way they were? Any suggestion welcome.
Thanks for your time and help.
Solved by flashing
Hi,
Since no mgic trick happened to save the day, I was left with no choice but to flash it.
Used rockchip batch tools, crossed my finger so the stick wasn't a clone with the mediatek chip, flashed stock plus goodies rom, waited 10-15 minutes, and voila!
good as new, got rid of the chinese apps I couldn't even log on, but got a full wipe of my data.
Hello,
Surface RT won't boot at all. No spinning circle on boot and Recovery drive is not working. Only Surface logo on screen for several hours.
the usb recovery drive is ok. i have tested it on other surface devices.
Warranty support was declined because of some scratches on screen, so that unfortunately is not an option.
Is there any other way of recovering?
thanks
If you can't even boot to USB? No, not really.
If you actually managed to scratch the Gorilla Glass screen, it sounds like the device may have been pretty abused. In that case there could be internal damage. They really aren't user-serviceable though, sadly. Did you ask for help at the Microsoft store? They may be able to help even if they won't replace it for free.
Power it off.
Turn it on, when the Surface splash screen appears, turn it off.
Do that 3 times, on the 4th time let it boot, it might boot into recovery.
I have tried alot of these steps
but still seem to have issues
is there anyone I can send my surface to who will just wipe it and can deal with bit locker protecting drives?
i made thread mentioning and ex employee was allowed to set up surface rt he was fired didnt give us his password or bitlocker info. So now it seems we are screwed
Have you tried holding vol+ and power for some time? This fixes not booting most times. After that, try power on normally.
same problem with no luck yet
have tried every single step in exact timing , but no luck ... just "surface" logo and cannot get to recovery image that is on my usb drive for the rt version pleasse please help ... i am thinking of an hardware problem that may affect the usb drive , however, the usb led is on meant it gets power
Have you tried these steps?
Surface RT or Surface 2 won’t turn on
thanks alot xkawer for replaying ...
my surface rt is turning on but it stuck on the surface logo .... the real problem is that it cannot pass the logo screen and connot boot from the recovery usb ....
hope to find a solution please ....
I also have a surface rt with the same problem. I took it to the Microsoft store and they said that it would need to be reset. Unfortunately their price is about the same as purchasing a new one. I'm trying to repair it following the steps that Microsoft has posted on their website. My question, am I creating a bootable image correctly on a usb? The steps that I followed were to format usb (8GB) to FAT32. Once format it, I copy and paste the zip file that Microsoft told me to download onto my usb. Now this is the part that I'm confused because the Surface doesn't boot into the USB drive. Am I not formatting the USB correctly or is there something I need to do with that zip file?

Dear android serpent , If you are extracting the zip file content into the USB flash after formatting then your are making the USB absolutely right , I am making the USB in exact way .. It works on other devices but not on mine . That is confusing a lot ...
I really don't know what is the problem .. My device had just restarted and I get in this strange mode . However my USB in 100% working before it got restarted ... No comment !
You may need to mark the flash drive partition as "Active" before you copy the files onto it. That was required in the past at least for many BIOSes to boot off external storage.

Hi; My Surface Pro is doing the same thing after taking the 8.1 update It froze on IE and had to be force shut down. It is out of warranty and I didn't create a backup usb image as I was waiting to install 8.1 before doing so. It's only right that if MS software bricked it they should repair it at no charge.

surface RT..
I have never seen anything other than the surface logo with no "spinning wheel"
I have tried the 3 reboots, booting normally on the 4th...volume up and power for days .....the keyboard boot options (backspace, win key +everything, F8, F11 for the hell of it..) I tried holding down in different sequences every possible combination with power, volume up/down and the windows soft key (onthe tablet)
I have created USB's with a kingston 16GB, a sandisk 8GB, sandisk cruzer 16GB, a USB3 128GB, and a micro 32GB card in a USB adapter. I extrated 2 different zip files to them all after formatting fat32, using diskpart to make the part active. both oft these compressed files were from microsoft that I downloaded after registering the device.
I tried formatting the sticks with a USB format tool as opposed to win 8. I tried 2 other compressed recovery images I found elsewhere. Furthermore I I attempted 2 different ISO files and 2 different IMG fliles using rufus, usbit, and universal USB installer...both 8.0 and 8.1 recovery images/ISO's/ZIPS. At first I observed the access light on the USB Drives blink once right after booting but now no light at all...for the hell of it I even tried to connect it to a win 8.1 machine via 2 different USB-USB cables I had.
Please advise if there are any other options??
thank you for your time...

When did your surface rt break. Mine seem to have done it after a software update this month. I have tried everything as well no luck.
Well the logo means it hasn't got enough power so you may have damaged the battery or charging circuit. that isnt something fixable by most people. Perhaps contact the shop purchased from and conveniently make no mention of the fall, see if they swap it as a faulty device. Have you tried powering it on while connected to the charger? At last you may check out if Windows Boot Genius works.

thank you for your time and reply. I always have it plugged into power when troubleshooting. it does charge and will stay on that logo screen for several days without power. although, i purchased the cheapest power supply i could find on amazon (10.99) , it does charge and holds the charge. I will definately try the windows boot genius. I am an ex navy avionics tech therefore I can perform any component level repairs necessary, I just wanted to wait until it was 100% necessary to crack the case. Was hoping for news of the magic reset button on the mobo or a bios flash option. again, thank you for your time sir..

I had the same problem and could not boot it from a recovery file. In the end (after being told it was a write-off) I had the ICT guys where I work take out the battery and put it back in. It took about an hour to open the unit and as soon as the battery was out and put back in it worked! It was an update that caused this problem.
Just want to know if this worked

I had the same problem and could not boot it from a recovery file. In the end (after being told it was a write-off) I had the ICT guys where I work take out the battery and put it back in. It took about an hour to open the unit and as soon as the battery was out and put back in it worked! It was an update that caused this problem.
