Build is still compiling. But it looks like it'll compile fine this time. Last time I tried it failed in the start. But whether or not it'll boot is a different issue. Since I don't have a S4 anymore someone will need to test it for me.

Definitely some sort of beta if it's Oreo. Let's see if someone has the guts to try and install.

If it's oreo I believe it is beta of some sort.
Digging into the build.prop shows nothing important only "n related info" so the Changelog might be miss leading so I updated first post to maybe

We seem to be having a miscommunication, with honor 9 you need 3 files to flash
1. update.zip (I have)
2. update.full.stf-l09.hw.normal.zip (I have)
3 update_data_full_public .zip (The file needed) the one in op is not for L09

It doesn't exist and it differ from releases
I guess it's included in eu zip since if you check the size the eu is 500mb bigger in stock update.zip
But has 500mb lower in data file.
So it is no big deal

This means because the third file isn't for Honor 9 we can't flash EMUI 6 on Honor 9 yet?

It is for honor 9 and i can say this is a good build. Because it's a roll back build. To N.
It is still for honor 9. Because it's "offline" package that's why you only get 2 zips.
This means that a beta program is most likely up

So I'll just need to flash only those to files (on EU version of Honor 9)?
- update_full_STF-L09_hw_normal.zip
- update.zip

Will I have to factory reset my phone if I want to go back to official build or update to official EMUI 6 when it's out?
If someone successfully flashed it, please share screenshots (video is even better if possible)
So since apparently no one rooted their p20 yet and I heard it wasn't possible since no boot dumped yet.
I'll provide this https://mega.nz/#!jlBFWSwR!wzozF9Zi189upCm6mCVjTDEUcG9SpDHbNOPewKJ7so8
Magisk patched boot. (oh yeah you read right!)
All you need to do is obtain your bootloader unlock code.
If you somehow fail getting the bootloader code or getting wrong code. I can write up a thread for how we did it.
Unlock the bootloader and flash ramdisk with
Fastboot flash ramdisk CLT-L29-MAGISK.img
They reboot. Simple right?
This has been tested on a demo unit (C652) and works well!
We even dumped oeminfo!
Enjoy.

work in p20 lite ?
Hello everyone;
Someone tried with an official version of the P20?
Since there is no procedure in case of brick phone, it would be better to be sure that it works each time before starting ..
definitely will try this once i get my p20 pro

It's a copy-paste guide, don't use it.
And it's originally not even for Oreo, as they use 'recovery' partition rather than 'recovery_ramdisk'.
ok, thank you
I suspected a little.
However, just before I had the P20, I had an Oneplus 5T under oreo and it was still a partition recovery as usual. I rooted the Oneplus 5T by flashing the recovery quite normally: "Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" then under twrp, flashing magisk.zip. No use of a recovery_ramdisk

It's certain. abd very logical
In the meantime, it is not very clever for these sites to offer fake tutorials because people in a hurry could try the adventure and end up with bricked phone, for a long time.
In any case, I hope that a formal and tested procedure will see the day soon, that we can have a little fun!

Has anybody managed to get a Viper4Android Magisk module working on the P20 Pro yet?
Can someone explain me better the flash method ?
I have a P20 pro (CLT-L29) build 8.1.0.107(C432). european version.
Now to root I download the package.
I've already unlock the bootloader.
How to do other Step to flash ?
I see the photo. They are in magisk manager ?
or I must flash in a powershell on my PC ?

Nope the photo shows Magisk working already.
You'll need to fastboot flash ramdisk imagename.img
Also ill patch P20 ramdisk (yeah forgot I had it on mega)

It's not working on my Huawei P20 CLT-L29 C432 running EMUI 8.1.0
Unlocking the Bootloader works as described using the obtained unique unlocking code but after patching the .img file there doesn't seem to be root/SU available on my device. I would stay away from this as of now!

Yes I meant I tried the root checker Apps from Playstore, Titanium Backup root etc. to verify the Magisk .img was flashed properly and works but just doesn't
