yes, this might be great news, or a great disappointment. let's hope for good news!
GSMArena doesn't seem to list the bands: http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_3_ultra_zu680kl-8130.php
An online shop (which I don't fully trust, so I won't give a link to eglobal) suggests 4G on
700MHZ 700MHZ
(B20) 800MHZ (B20) 800MHZ
850MHZ 850MHZ
900MHZ 900MHZ
1800MHZ 1800MHZ
2100MHZ 2100MHZ
2300MHZ 2300MHZ
2600MHZ 2600MHZ
which in theory covers some UK carriers (officially 800 and 2600, but some are using 1800)... but as I say, I don't trust them.
the 3G bands listed are these
800MHZ 800MHZ
850MHZ 850MHZ
900MHZ 900MHZ
1900MHZ 1900MHZ
2100MHZ 2100MHZ
which omits 1800, which is odd. I'd have thought that these phones would be multimode and be able to run 4g or 3g on a common set of bands.

I can't find the phone on amazon.de any more. I wonder if they pulled the listing after mistakenly posting it? It's still on .fr, is eur650, which US$680 or GB£555.
That makes it quite a premium. I've seen it as little as £410 elsewhere, but that would be an import.
doesn't appear to be on amazon.es either.

I just noticed that WondaMobile now list this phone, and I trust them a little more to get the tech specs right
2G BANDS GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
3G BANDS HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 / 800
4G BANDS LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 26(850), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)

if only it was possible to get permanent root, and as a bonus an unlockable bootloader, I'd have bought one!

Voice, not a problem, but the phone comes with T-Mobile data radio. I inserted my at&t SGSII sim.I even added all known APNs for at&t 3g/4g, nope...don't work

Yes. I believe the difference is that the US version has the 1700AWS band for T-Mobile. Global has the 2100 band that works better overseas.
Ok thanks I don't have TMobile or one of their subsidiaries anyway and tend to travel over seas in the summer so looks like I made the right choice anyway

I'm thinking of getting the G. I will use it in Germany for 3 wks next year, and use it once (2-3 wks) in Taiwan when I visit my friends and family. I will mostly use it in the US trying out different prepaid plans. I think I'd better get a US version, but is there any chance to get 3G in Europe or Taiwan with a US version?
Thanks.

No with the US version you will NOT get 3G in Europe or Taiwan. You will get 2G however. If you want 3G overseas you need to the global version but you lose T-mobiles AWS band support.
thanks. Is there a phone (moto x, nexus 5, or anything) that support 3G band of all carriers in all regions?

A thing that I've noticed in the reviews is that the US versions of the phone, the cases (at least the black one) has a "metallic" look on that M on the back while the Global / European version that M it's only glossy.
Just got my US 16gb model yesterday via Amazon. Back cover has a glossy black "M" logo, nothing metallic about it.
Bummer to hear this phone won't do 3G in Europe, I went with the USA model since I just moved over to T-mobile, and a lot of the 3G signal in my area is still on 1700 mhz. My AT&T phone was getting 3G in a lot of areas, but just enough EDGE data to annoy me and make me buy the G.

[Q] Wind support? [SOLVED]

My brother is looking into switching to wind and getting a new phone
From wind's website:
The WIND Mobile network uses a frequency called AWS, with bands 1700/2100 MHz.
From gsm arena regarding the XT1540:
HSDPA 850 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100
LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 17(700)
it says 1700(AWS) but it doesn't have (AWS) beside 2100 so I'm not 100% sure.
Any idea?

Yes it will work. I think most unlocked smartphones will work on those bands.
Wind's pricing has always been a steal in Canada, however their network is a little dodgy once you leave the city or if you're near a lot of concrete.

Radio / Bands support in Europe?

hey guys,
i can't really find any information if the Mi4C will work out of the box in europe. i'm in austria on a drei (three) network.
i've read stuff about LTE/4G not being supported in europe but thats dismissable for me. but will normal phonecalls and connectivity up to hsdpa+ work in europe?
thanks in advance
According to gsmarena
NETWORK
Technology GSM / HSPA / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
TD-SCDMA
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Speed HSPA, LTE Cat4 150/50 Mbps
GPRS Yes
EDGE Yes

So check your bands with this
Three (3) only works with bands 2600 and 1900 so they'll both work in the Mi4C. The only band that won't work is the 20 (800 mHz)
I posted some guides on how to unlock LTE bands in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/general/unlocking-lte-bands-t3215763
Hopefully those instructions work for someone to unlock B20. Let me know if it works!

[Question] Moto G 3rd Gen International Network Compatability

Hi all, I'm considering buying an unlocked GSM Moto G 3rd Gen, and I am trying to figure out how it will work outside the US with other network operators. The 2 areas I am interested in are Hong Kong and Ecuador.
The network specs for the Moto G 3rd Gen are:
Code:
Technology GSM / CDMA / HSPA / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
CDMA 800 / 1900 - XT1548
3G bands HSDPA 900 / 2100 - XT1541
HSDPA 850 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 - XT1540
HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 - XT1548
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800) - XT1541
LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 17(700) - XT1540
LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 12(700), 17(700), 25(1900), 26(850), 41(2500) - XT1548
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE Cat4 150/50 Mbps
GPRS Yes
EDGE Yes
GSM information from: http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
China, Hong Kong (SAR):
Code:
900 1800
3G 2100 CSL Ltd; 3G 2100 HKT; 3G 900/2100 Hutchison; 3G 2100 SmarTone;
4G LTE HKT 1800/2600Mhz; 4G LTE Hutchison 1800/2600Mhz; 4G LTE SmarTone 1800Mhz;
Ecuador:
Code:
1900 850
3G 850 Claro; 3G 2100 MOVISTAR;
4G LTE CNT Mobile 1700Mhz;
My conclusion from the data above is:
Voice/SMS/2G Data - Supported in both HK and Ecuador because the Moto G supports all 850, 900, 1800, and 1900
3G Data - Supported in both HK and Ecuador on all carriers since all frequencies for the carriers are present in the phone specs for 3G
4G LTE - Supported in both HK and Ecuador on all carriers because all frequencies listed by the carriers are present in the 4G LTE list
Could someone eyeball these specs and let me know if I'm drawing the correct conclusions or if I'm actually misunderstanding how the bands work?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Edit: I was double checking the bands listed on gsmarena, which claims both Hong Kong and Ecuador have UMTS 3G bands. The Moto G specs say HSDPA for all the 3G bands. Does the phone need to have UMTS listed for it to work or are they compatible for 3G?
