Hi there,
I know this post is related to another user but I wish to relock my bootloader for another reason and was wondering if you could help me please?
I have TA backups, and what I am trying to do is to restore the DRM keys via the RootKernel tool; however, everytime I flash it via FlashTool, I can never figure out if it worked or not?
Could you tell me if there's a way to check if the DRM keys have been restored on an UNLOCKED bootloader please?
Also, can you tell me how to relock the bootloader, as well as restoring the original TA so everything works fine again please??
Thank you for your help

Edit: I've found out how to relock the bootloader and restore TA, but I still don't quite know how to check if the keys are installed when on UB?

got the same problem as OP. anyone know how to get camera work with lock BL and stock FW.???

The same problem here, I've re-locked the phone and installed the stock Nougat ROM using Sony's PC companion, so no TA backup and after that every time I open the camera, it says ''Error: the camera may be in use by another application. please close the other application and try again.'' It's also the same for developmental Marshmallow ROM that I've installed by EMMA and even with the boot-loader unlocked the camera quality is really poor and doesn't save the picture it takes. So have I messed up the DRM security keys as part of boot-loader ? How can I fix this ??
I found this in Sony's developer site:
''Once you have unlocked the boot loader, you will not be able to revert the device back to a locked or original state or restore the DRM security keys.''

May I borrow your TA back up and DRM keys for my F8331 ?

Dont use someone else's TA Partition. It ain't going to work.
Why don't you simple re-open your BL and flash a Stock ROM ? What is the benefit of re-locking if you lost your TA Partition ?

Picture quality is the same as stock unlocked if you flash androplus kernel

You got an update on your Xperia M2(d2305) to 4.4.4.So you didnt unlock the bootloader. Right?
First when you root your phone that makes a file name su in your system.Factory data doesnt change system folders. So you have still root access.
All you need to do is;
-install supersu
-Get into setings
-Click unroot botton That remove your root access.
i am not sure but if you instaled xposed you may need to remove it.You can find it in firmware options.
(Just in case: to relock the bootloader Connect your phone (into flash mode) to Flashtool and click the "BLU" button )
Good Luck
@XlseS
Did you try to relock it with Flashtool? There was option for that i did it on my Tipo.

I had an update to 4.4.2 via PC Companion, so files are all there.
If I reflash my phone, will the TA partition get reflashed too? In other words, will it get back my DRM keys?
There is method with TA script to backup and restore TA, but if I have backup of original ROM that came with my phone, so I'm asking will it do the job, because I have TA.img without md5sum.
Another reason is this one: http://www.xda-developers.com/restore-lost-functionality-on-your-unlocked-xperia-device-part-two/
Camera seems to get loss of functionality with removal of DRM keys.
EDIT: The answer is: nope. TA partition must be restored first.

[Q] Root with giefroot ? It's possibile?

Hello to everyone
I've a question and a idea.
Can I root my Xperia Z3 with this tool? http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/giefroot-rooting-tool-cve-2014-4322-t3011598
If It's possibile i think to downgrande (with the first firmware founded on this thread) my phone to Firmware < October 2014 (kernel and system) , after root with this tool, save the DRM Keys, upgrade to the last firmware, unlock the bootloader and remake the root and at last restore the DRM Keys It's possibile?

Yes its possible, but why would you unlock the bootloader just to restore the DRM keys straight afterwards? That relocks your bootloader and will prevent custom kernels from booting
Bacause I'm interested to the last stock firmware so, If I root the phone white this tools and after upgrade to the last stock firmware the root will be deleted or not?

Ok, I see what you mean. Yes you will lose root if you upgrade to the latest firmware. However, to get root on an unlocked bootloader you need a custom kernel (even one based on stock is custom) so as soon as you restore the DRM keys you will no longer be able to boot.
The best bet is to
downgrade
root
Install recovery
flash a pre-rooted firmware of the which ever version you want. You can create this using PRFCreator_v0.8 (Just google it) and it will take about 7 minutes to make it.

[Question] Unlock bootloader risks

Hi all!
I have my Xperia M2 with the latest firmware: 18.6.A.0.182.
I want to root it, and install a custom recovery, and i know how to do all of this through this forum. But I need to unloock my bootloader.
What's the problem?
If you go here: (i can not post links, the developer sony / unlockbootloader) and warns you:
Important note! In order to unlock your Xperia™ M2 you need to be on software version 18.3.C.0.37. Also beware that booting this device the first time after unlocking the boot loader may take a long time.

I don't know why this...
Searching in google, the people recomends to use flashtool to unlock the bootloader.
What will happen if i intend to unlock it and something goes wrong? I don't know how to solve a soft-brick withouth an unlocked bootloader.
Thanks for your help.
Hey, first do it the official sony way flashtools doesn't work for many including me when i unlocked my bootloader. http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
Second if anything goes wrong, just reflash your firmware (jellybean, kitkat, lollipop whatever) through flashtools and it will be back to stock.
Unlocking your bootloader there is not much which can go wrong.
Btw, you will lose your DRM keys. 2 of them i think for buying stuff through ps store.
Also if you run into problems post here we'll help.
Now I have root with KingRoot. If I make a backup of TA partition i can restore DRM keys when I like it, no?
And the magic question for me is: How I flash original firmwares if the bootloader is locked? I only need locate the right FTF and with flashtool is enought?
Thank you!

Yes you can restore your DRM keys backup if you want in the future.
And if you want to flash a FTF on locked bootloader you can use Flashtool by Androxyde or Xperia Companion.
Ok, thank you all, I'll try to backup DRM keys and unlook the bootloader and I'll post the results!

Can't flash 7.0

I got a unlocked bootloader XZ dual 8332, download tft from Xperiafirm, and at the end of flash session i got a erro :
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]01/025/2016 17:25:54 - ERROR - Have read only 524256 byte(s) instead of 780004 byte(s)
01/025/2016 17:25:54 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted[/COLOR]
What does it's meanning ? My phone got a "update failed" when turn on now.
Do we need check some "check box" or anything before flash a tft file ?
And is anyway to relock bootloader if we want repair by Xperia Companion or update through OTA ?
Thanks.
AFAIK flashtool is not compatible with 7.0 yet and there is no way to relock your bootloader yet.

When you flash a modified kernel with drm fix your drm is working. When you relock your bootloader your phone got factory reset itself and drm still in your phone.
Try to update via ota
After that because you are unlocked try to flash flashfire and install supersu to be rooted and searsh to drm fix file and flash it manually from any root file manager.
Another step
Uodate your unlocked phone ota update
Restart you phone
It should be working now with no drm fix
Poweroff your phone
Enter falshmode (power button + volum up) you see a purpul led
Enter adb and flash supersu sr5
It should work after flash drm manually
Try and reply please

So much wrong info here.
Firstly, once you unlock the bootloader the TA partition where the DRM keys are stored is formatted. They are gone forever. Relocking the bootloader does not bring them back. The DRM fix replicates (Not 100% fixes) the missing functions and this fix only works on rooted phones, which you cannot have with a locked bootloader.
Secondly, do not try and update OTA with an unlocked bootloader. It could brick your device.
Are there any known issues when unlocking the boot loader?
A: Yes. When you select a device, any known issues for that device will be displayed. In addition, the following generic issues have been reported:
•Some users have experienced problems when they are accepting over the air upgrades. Therefore we do not recommend users to accept over the air upgrades, after having unlocked the boot loader. For additional information, check out the XDA Forums for hints and tips from the community.

Everything you wrote is absolutely correct.
PC companion detects that the device is unlocked & OTA's automatically fails to install.
So apparently, relocking & updating is possible but relocking means you can no longer use the stock camera anymore.

Yes, that is what I said. There was still a vulnaribility in the MM firmware (Dirtycow) so if you can find a FTF for MM, then you can flash that with flashtool and use the dirty cow exploit (Thread in general section) to root.

Looking back I can only see threads about temporary root. I was positive you could root on marshmellow….maybe some more gooloing required

Yes, you can achieve temp root on marshmellow, that is how the TA backup tool work. I was pretty sure from there you could install arecoevry and flash a stock based rooted rom with a stock kernel. So its a system root not a kernel root, but this is going back a couple of years as since nougat this exploit was patched and only unlocked bootloader root was available.
But there the XZ can be downgraded to MM so its possible.
Oh, I've found it, maybe later I'll try it ... Thank you for the help bro ...
since xz came out on Android 6.01
so downgrade to ADROID 6.0

If you relock the bootloader you cannot use a modded kernel. You have to keep the bootloader unlocked.

Yes, on android 6 you can temporarily root to backup the TA, then you can revert back to any version of android and unlock the bootloader to flash a custom rooted kernel to gain root.
However, if you restore your TA it relocks the bootloader, meaning only a stock unrooted kernel will work.
So, use flashtool to flash a MM FTF and use the TA backup tool to backup your TA. Then just unlock your bootloader and use a custom rom.
Ohh now I understand, thank you for your explanation bro and I hope I managed to try it
Does it work with Sony Xperia X Performance

4.Flash rooted stock rom
