Okay so I've tried rooting my galaxy s4 multiple times, and none have worked. I have a mac and verizon is my carrier, and the software on my phone is 4.3 jellybean. for whatever reason my phone never properly roots and at most it will just download superuser, which in the end tells me can't work. someone please help!!
samsung 4.3 version is come with knox feature that will block all app to access the root.
this also happened to me when i try to root my note 2 a couple days ago.
tried a lot of method on google to disable that knox but still failed.
the last attempt that i do is completely install a knox free custom rom and it's work very good until now, and you may try it.
you may search the custom rom for your s4 on this forum and choose the most suitable for you
How on earth can he install a custom rom if he doesn't have root access?

You need to find your baseband version and find a root method that is appropriate for the version you are running. Not every (and rarely any) root methods work for more than one baseband version on the Verizon S4. Knox will not stop you from rooting your phone.

hello. I need the exact instructions that actually work to root my galaxy s5 5.0. the root methods on forums never work and I know exactly how to root the phone. but no one gives all the information on exactly how to do it. this is a replacement phone. I had the last version of Android rooted but the instructions on rooting that didn't work also and I had to use an app. I see where people have said you need Android bootloader but bootloader doesn't work through Odin. So can't actually put a custom recovery like TWRP on the phone using Odin. Is there another method that people aren't telling us that actually work or is there an app that can root. Had to use towelroot on my last phone because the rooting method never works. And I have been flashing ROMs for years on multiple phones so i know what needs to be downloaded. Just method can't work for everyone ununfortunately. If anyone has any information on how I can root my phone now that I'm on Android 5.0 would be much appreciated. Or if it's impossible to root the phone now that I'm on Android 5.0. If anyone can tell me that I would appreciate that too. Thnx

Hi
Ive just bought a S6 Edge SM G925F on 6.0.1 and was wondering what benefits i would get from rooting
The phone still has warranty until june 2017 so im unsure weather to root or not
Cheers
If you dont know what the benefits are you should not root as you will not benefit from it.
What I mean is that its probably not worth the risk if you have to ask because you dont know anywhere near enough to use root to its potential.
If you want to get some nice Features like Xposed, Titanium Backup or Flashing custom Roms, root. If you are satisfied with your device as it is, let it unrooted. I rooted too and i love to test out new custom roms like Alexis Rom, Noble Note 7 Port.
Undoubtedly.
Android is meant to be rooted ^^
Could someone point me to the correct root tutorial
Thanks

Boot into download mode, open odin, flash cf-auto-root OR Flash twrp instead of cf-auto-root and then install supersu.zip from there

Hi there,
How are you?
I'd like some guidance please on rooting and installing a custom rom on my Samsung Galaxy S5.
The model number of my phone is SM-G900I (the australian variant which I purchased outright from the Samsung Store) . I'm currently using a stock (official) rom Android 6.0.1 with the November 2016 security patch.
So far I've come across
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700073 and
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699648
The only difficulty for me is that I have a MAC and therefore will be unable to download ODIN.
I've also attempted to download and install http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/ on my MAC though it doesn't seem to be compatible with my OSX El Capitan.
If I was able to successfully download and install a ODIN or Heimdall alternative, would I be able to install a custom recovery?
Will towelroot work? for the actual rooting of the device?
In order to download custom Roms, can I only get them from the Galaxy S 5 Original Android Development link?
Thank you.

Looking for a google frp bypass also if anyone knows how.
Ok the past week iv pulled all nighters trying to root this s727vl. I have also did ton of of research and have found out the root method for 6.0 marshmellow and how root is obtain has drastically changed. I have easily rooted every device iv owned from 2.0 to 4.4. What if found out is the device is easier to root than 4.4 and 5.0. The problem is that the 2 root methods are not currently possible at this time because custom recovery is needed to flash supersu.zip. twrp and cwm have not made a compatible apk for our device. And the second root method which requires eng.boot don't have one for our device's either. The good news is that twrp is completely open source and there is a guide here on the forum on how to recompile it for your device. I will be giving it a shot. Dont wast your time with iroot, kingroot, srsoot, towel root, unlock root, tunesgo, and about 5 more that i cant remember the name.. i will keep everybody posted on my recompiling twrp. It's going to be a awhile though.

Any luck yet I sure hope so I've been doing the same thing trying to find a root or recovery I got another one just like the ones were working on that I dropped and cracked the glass so I'm going to use it as as the test subject.
Wondering if you had any success rooting this one. Honestly, I'd just like to use the mobile hotspot.

Hey,
Do you still have the link to the factory firmware for the sky pro?
I am having a weird problem with my new phone, if you care to look at my only post you can read my description. If not I could use that firmware. Mine must be corrupted or some **** because factory reset wont fix my problem. Thanks!

I've been studying this phone for a while and waiting for a root method. TWRP would be ideal, but it doesn't seem to be a priority for those with the talent to do so. In my research today, I may have stumbled upon what appears to be a means to root this phone (or any phone). Instead of looking around for "root", try instead to study and learn about Magisk. It seems to be the new preferred way to root newer devices. TWRP would make it easier, but there are instructions to use the stock firmware download and the Magisk app to achieve root for practically any device. Even if there is no TWRP available.
From what I can gather, Magisk modifies the stock Boot.img file. Once modified, it will allow you to switch root on and off much like we have in the past. It also has the added benefit of "hiding" from the OS, so the OS is not as likely to become aware of being rooted. It remains rooted even after Updates.
Have a look at this link for a better explanation and a basic how-to:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/how-to-install-magisc-twrp-locked-t3599926/page2
I post this so that the rest of you can try it as well, hopefully soon so we can compare notes and hopefully leverage each other's success. I'm downloading the Stock firmware now. This is NOT a "run a magic program and it roots my phone idiot-proof method", but it doesn't seem to be overly-complex either. Good luck and please report back.
