Hello I have been trying to figure this out for the past little while i was dumb and forgot to backup my efs partition. I flashed a rom and unlocked the device as it was originally locked to rogers after this my serial number is missing and i get a message saying no service. it then changes to no sim card. i think most of my problem is rooting from the missing serial number I have been looking on google and through these forums but have been unable to find something. Some help or a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

You won't get any help here as changing an IMEI number is illegal in many, many countries (including the USA where XDA is based) and therefore discussion of such methods on this site will not be tolerated.

Hi there,
As this procedure introduces ways to begin illegal activity, such as stealing phones that would get blacklisted, then changing it to another.
XDA does not condone in such illegal matter. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Mod Edit
Changing the imei on a phone is illegal.
Such discussions are not allowed on XDA

thanks.. but this is to backup and restore
i am looking for a repair for a non backed up EFS.
i didnt backup my EFS initianlly, and the EFS is corrupt and need to repair it.
otherwise, if it is possible, i am looking for someone please who has an SM-N915S who can backup their EFS for me and help me by adding my IMEI or whatever else is needed to get my phone working
2 weeks now, and no where to go. (my phone is from korea, so sending it would be a waste of time, since i cant reach anyone there anyways), so i read somewhere on the web that it can be fixed if someone has the same exact model, with a good EFS backup, then they can modify the files by changing the IMEI number stored in the backup and other stuff, and thats it.
Willing to pay to anyone who can help me

Actually I don't know how to do it either. I found out about that way after doing 3 days of research. I appreciate you offering to help but it's the how to make the changes. The efs backup is easy. Tons of apps can do that. But to edit some files and change the imei and mac address and stuff. Requires someone who has the tools and knows how to do it. I don't sadly. Wish I did.

But am willing to pay anyone who can help me that has the same phone with the efs help please

If all else fails, search for a JTAG Riff Box owner. It can repair some hard bricked devices and I believe IMEI. If it is not yet compatible with your device, unable to repair IMEI or owner lacks knowledge, then Samsung is your only hope.

Nobody in their right mind should give you their device IMEI.
It's unique to the device and a way for the carrier and authorities to identify a device, particularly if it's been cloned, lost or stolen and possibility used for illegal purposes. Tampering with or modifying (unlike repairing) a device's IMEI is illegal.
I have only heard of one (ex) XDA member "Odia" being able to repair a corrupted IMEI. I think it was a Samsung Galaxy S2 or similar. He did it remotely via TeamViewer.
Repair is the only legal way and any other method should not be openly encouraged in these forums.
Best of luck.

Thanks. But I never asked anyone for imei. All what I was asking if anyone knows how to do and I would provide him the imei to modify their efs backup. So basically deleting their imei from their backup and putting mine. Not planning or wanting anyone's imei or anything regarding their phone. But thanks for the input.

Hi,
I'd like to know how to flash my branded (Orange) Huawei modem. The model is "E5220s-2" and the IMEI "8652050207*****" . I have a debian 8 machine but also a windows 7 one if it's needed.
Thanks a lot if you could help,
Maxime
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. First,I highly recommend you edit your post and remove your imei number. Posting your imei is not recommended in a public forum as someone could use your number for bad purposes. I would suggest you find reputable sim unlock service on the internet. I can't find anything on XDA which could help you sim unlock your device that I feel comfortable linking you to.
