What is the best email app out there. I currently use the stock email app and have tried k9mail but I don't like the way either of these deal with folders. I would like to find an email client that can actually work with folders. Any suggestions?

I personally like the pure series thats available in the market it allows you to combine your sms, email and gmail all on one widget with options for skins and such. Also allows for manual and automatic refresh I like it alot been using it for several months. good dev support etc.

Gmail is the best by far
What I was looking for was an email program that had better nested folder access more like you have on the iPhone. I gave up my iPhone for the Hero but their email program had much better folder control.
I use Gmail. Once you understand how to use labels to mark your mail folders are no longer relevant.

Gmail won't do exchange though, will it? I have the stock mail app set to 'as items arrive', and I seem to remember the gmail app won't do that (admittedly I haven't played with that app in awhile).
Googles Labels are very similar to Folders, once you understand them. Take a look at this:
http://lifehacker.com/5513040/gmail-adds-nested-labels-sneak-peek-to-labs
Also, with Gmail on my Hero, if I have Gmail open on the browser on my laptop, I can actually see the emails come in faster on the phone, and then within 30 seconds on the laptop.
I would say, give it a try, set up an account and see what happens.

I have used Touchdown for Exchange and it does support Push email if your exchange server does. It isn't too bad, and there is a trial in the market.

Well my goal would be to be able to use one app for gmail and exchange. Right now I'm using k9 for gmail (I hate the gmail app and don't really like the stock mail app either) and stock for exchange.
I'm looking for a good email widget for CM7 RC2. I just synced my work exchange account with my phone and tried K9 but it was giving me an IO Error (no idea what that mean). I've tried looking for any type of widget, but not really finding anything good. You guys have any suggestions?
Have you tried K9 mail?

I have, but it gives me an IO Error on my work exchange account.
I primary use Google email app for email client on my smartphone and didn't bother with Samsung email app. Gear 2 can't really get detail email when uses Google email app where I can get the actual email (text only) with Samsung email app. Does anyone know? If it can be configured with Google email app. Thanks.
Reqall app will work with gmail. Not free, but not expensive. Only option right now. Give it some time and you might have more options later

Yes it absolutely can, and its ultra easy, just set up a new account and use your credentials. When using the samsung app you can read the full email on the watch.

Anyone know how to get the old stock email app working on pixel? I've installed an old apk but as soon as I try and open it, it says to use Gmail and points me that way. Makes me feel like I'm using an iPhone.

I just got my phone set up yesterday. Are you saying there was a different default e-mail app on this phone at some point? Mine only came with the Gmail app. Seems strange to me to not have Gmail be the stock email app on a Google phone.
Doesn't exist anymore

What this guy said. It's been phased out and its features have been moved to Gmail.

Wow. Thats too bad. Guess I'll have to wait for a custom rom to use it again. Its still in Cyanogenmod builds, maybe its in gapps. Anyhow, I really liked keeping it separate from gmail.
Yeah. You may be able to build it from source from CM but sounds like a pain.

Why not just download another email app. Like Outlook, that one works well with all email accounts.
I'd strongly recommend K9 as an email app. Been using that since my G1 and it's still outstanding!
K9 or blue mail works great, I've used k9 for a long time, just switched over to blue, very hard to decide which one is the keeper ?

These guys are not actually correct.
The "stock" email program STILL EXISTS, and in fact, is actually INSTALLED on Pixel devices from factory!
BUT, google has merged its UI into the GMAIL program.
So you have two options if you want to use the "stock" email program;
1) Set up your IMAP email account through the GMAIL program,
2) DISABLE the gmail program, and guess what happens? The "email" program launcher icon shows up in your launcher!
HOWEVER, it really is a much better idea to use k9mail instead. It is far more feature rich.

Neat, I didn't know that! Still gonna use K9 myself but that's pretty cool!
Aquamail would be my recommendation for a mail app. Easily the best and easiest to use of the six or eight that I tried...

That's a good find but unfortunately doesn't work for me. My mail server wont play nice with the Gmail app so I can't even get it configured. I still tried to disable Gmail but didn't see the stock email app. I then installed a stock email apk and it installed but still gives me the same screen saying that Gmail is the new everything app

Aquamail Pro is nice, arguably better than K9, although it was just acquired by MobiSystems so who knows how future updates are going to look. Large companies acquiring small, indie developer projects does not usually end well for the app.
Security-wise, Aquamail, K9 and Nine are about the only third-party apps I'd consider.
I know this thread is now almost 2 months old.
what I"m looking for is a mail app to keep my gmail separate from my 2 exchange emails - and it MUST integrate with a calendar widget.
I haven't found one that works best. I liked the old "Mail" app - I could left swipe to delete, right to options - all your reply, reply-all, forward options right at the top of each message, rather than the options dots.
Outlook won't get sucked into my Google Calendar.

Aquamail - I tried just about every top email app. Also needed it to support Calendar, works perfect. I use the paid version and can't imagine a more customizable Android email client. Absolutely outstanding. Extremely reliable too.
Use Nine for Exchange. I've been using it for years, best Android email client.

Yeah, definitely for Exchange. I still prefer K9 for IMAP (easy to have lots of aliases) but Nine is definitely where it's at for Exchange. Great integration to Calendar and more!
It seems that only the Lollipop branch of the stock email app 7.0-x is merged into Gmail. Earlier versions of the stock email app, targeted for KitKat like email app 6.3-x, are still working. I am on CM 11 and the fresh installed email app 6.3-1218562 seems functional and wants to be configured with an email account.
However, regarding security concerns it may be still better to use an alternative mail client like K9. I ask me now how that one performs on low-level phones with weak hardware. All these super-rich features of that nice K9 mailing app needs surely hardware power. I noticed a similar behavior also on more recent Gmail versions. These are far more hardware hungry then older ones. That's the reason why I like the stock email app, - it seems lightweight and fast.
Hi,
I realized that there's no default email app on my Phab 2 Pro apart from the Gmail app.
I don't want to integrate my POP3/IMAP or Exchange email with Gmail.
What can I use as an email application ?
Thanks.
Nine is the best email app available in my opinion.
you mean there's no email app installed on P2P apart from Gmail ?
And which "Nine" are you suggesting ? Is it the one from "9folders" ?
It seems "Nine" from 9folders is not a free app.
I am looking for a free app as I am used to from all other Android devices.
Why isn't there any free one on P2P ?

You can use it for free without paying for it. I payed the $10 because I wanted to support the dev, but you don't have to. My employees all use it without paying.

I have checked Nine.
It does not support POP3 or IMAP; Only Exchange.
What I want is a simple email client for Pop3 and/or IMAP
Is there any ?

I really need help on this.
There are many email apps on market. But I really need one which is light and good. As in plain android.
I don't understand why P2P does not have one preinstalled.

thanks for nothing...
Sorry, my Phab2 Pro (PB2-690Y) came with a generic email app so, either you have a different phone or you can't see what's in front of your face. Either way, I can't help you

the generic email app on your phone (Phab 2 Pro) takes you to Gmail.
Sorry bud I tried to help you with the only email app that I know of, Nine. As for finding an email that works for you some times you just have to jump in on your own and test apps until you find the one that fits your needs.
Hello there!
I've noticed, that sent e-mail are not saved/moved (don't know which mechanism should be) into "Sent" folder. Well... they are, but they're just available from phone - there's no sign of e-mails on webmail or directly on desktop e-mail application (like Thunderbird or eM Client). Does any one experience similar issues?
my email app working good , sending and incoming mails all are good
Is your email account setup as IMAP?
Besides, I remember there's an auto BCC in the Settings menu that you can set to always auto BCC yourself...

I don't have this exact issue, but I noticed that any email more than a week old seems to be removed from the app and has to be searched for manually, especially the starred emails. I'm using a Yahoo account for mine though.

I'm not the OP, but the stock mail app is just a portal to these various email servers. For some reason though, the stock app doesn't continue to store messages older than about a week and you have to search the email server to retrieve them. It's annoying, but it works.
I tried using the Gmail app, but it lacked some of the features I use in the stock app. I also tried inbox and Yahoo's own app but neither of them would connect to my work email account.
So just like the OP, I'm having some issues with the stock app but it works better for my needs than the others. If you're also using the stock app, please chime in with your experience.
