Root and sim unlock the solution? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 secondhand off someone who was selling it - he said that he didn't like it and wanted a different phone. At first, it worked, however a day or so later, there was no access to the carrier network and I was unable to receive calls, make calls or send texts etc.
I contacted the carrier and found that it was reported STOLEN. I'm now stuck with a phone that is call barred and banned or blocked from the network. Plus, since it was originally locked to the carrier, I can't use any other sims.
I have tried two different third party unlock codes, both different companies had refunded me as they were unable to find unlock codes.
Would a phone root and sim unlock be the solution? If so, what are some resources I can refer to?

Sorry but you won't get any help trying to unblock a stolen phone, even if you state it was not you who stole it
You should be trying to get a refund / help find the original owner

[Q] I can't find sim unlock code for Samsung Note 3 n900W8

Hello XDA-Developers,
I am at my wits end. I can not for the life of me find a Sim Unlock code for my Samsung Note 3 N900W8.
I will start from the beginning... I purchased this phone from a woman who is the manager of a telecommunications in London ON. She listed the phone on Kijiji as "Brand new in box, unlocked!". I met her at a kiosk for my carrier to test the phone on one of their sim cards. It turned out the phone was sim locked. She seemed nice enough and genuinely surprised when it came up sim locked. She said she had received the phone as a promotional gift from her company, but didn't like the size of it and wanted to use her existing phone. She asked me if I would prefer to have her get it unlocked or she would take 50$ off of our originally agreed price to put towards the unlocking cost. I opted to get it unlocked myself, my mistake lol.
First I had to find out which carrier it was locked to so through a process of elimination I figured out it was locked to Bell. I contacted Bell and asked to get a sim unlock code from them. They said that they have no record of my phone in any of their data bases and that I should contact Samsung and confirm that my phone is locked to Bell. I contacted Samsung who confirmed that my phone is locked to Bell. I contacted Bell again and they put me through to tech support. He was a nice guy, but didn't give me the answer I wanted lol. He said that because my IMEI is not in any of their data bases that there's no way for him to give me a code. He suggested flashing a different kernel and it would remove the sim lock? I'm sorry I am not that knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff. Anyways, I have taken the phone to 3 reputable phone repare shops in my area and tried cellun******.net. All have said that they can't find an unlock code?
You guys are my last resort, any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You!

[Q] Send Phone to be Unlocked

I have a Japanese handset, a Kyocera Digno S (model KYL21). It was purchased and used in Japan. I would like to have it unlocked for use in the US, but my previous carrier, KDDI au, refuses to do anything. And seeing as how the phone is uncommon I am unable to find an unlock code. I have read that I may be able to send the phone to a third-party company to be scanned and unlocked but I haven't been able to find any such companies via Google.
Does anyone here provide such a service, or alternatively, can anyone here recommend a company that will scan and unlock my phone?

SM-G930T Galaxy S7 T-Mobile SIM locked

Hi everyone and thanks for the time to read this.
So, recently I purchased a Galaxy S7 from a co-worker. After bringing it to my house I realized it was SIM locked to the T-Mobile carrier. He bought it already used and sold it to me, so I can't unlock trough the T-Mobile customer service.
After an extensive search on the web I found a few paid solutions (unlock sites, Chimera Tool, some android apps). But since I live in Brazil and not the US they end up costing three times their original value due to money conversion.
I found out that you can extract the unlock code from the phone itself through some softwares ( i.e Chimera Tool). So I ask you: there's a free way to do that? I appreciate any help, thx.
Tl;dr: Need a free way to unlock SIM without contact to carrier (T-Mobile)
HI.
I a having this same problem expect. I am however from the usa. I moved tmoblie has no service in new area. They refuse to unlock my model is sm-G930T. Please anyone with any odeals on this problem let me know...
After searching a lot I found a website that fixed the network lock for me. It was also cheaper than the competition. unblockmysamsung.com

Are SIM Unlocker Websites legit?

I've been looking everywhere for some way to bypass the "Enter Unlock Network Code" that shows on my phone, preventing me from changing to another carrier, but have had minimal luck. Now, I completely understand that cell providers do this for free typically, but here's my situation:
I bought a phone from a friend thinking it was paid off but turns out it wasn't. After contacting the cell provider (ATT), I found out there were several hundred dollars still owed on the phone, and I would have to pay that off to be able to unlock it. Turns out this friend switched networks himself so he hasn't paid any of the bills for ATT.
The most legit website I could find that does this is simunlockremote, com. I contacted the people there and they said it would cost 41$ or so to get the code. I just have no idea if this is legit or not. I have spent hours calling ATT, messaging my friend, and looking up how the hell I can get around the unlock network screen. I'm even looking to rooting this new phone if I have to, but it's a Galaxy S9 running 9.0 so there aren't many thorough guides showing how to safely root the dang thing.
Can ANYONE help me?
TL;DR: Need to unlock phone that hasn't been paid off. Does simunlockremote work?

Bought a phone, checked IMEI online was clean, phone unable to connect to sim card.

With my Bday money I purchased a A32 5g off of FBM for $140, bought a month of service, got the t-mobile sim delivered and popped it in and it did not work, called T-mobile and some foreign speaking sale associate who could not comprehend anything other then her preset phrases told me the phone imei was "blocked" even though the look ups say it is clean. Well I have no idea what to do about this other then to stalk the guy who insta blocked me after I asked him to unlock the IMEI, and was wondering if you guys would be able to help with my options. Also wondering if it may just be network locked? which I couldnt figure out which carrier it would of been used by, it did have the tmobile app installed tho. IDK..
Wouldnt mind doing roots or what ever to get it running, just not sure which direction to go.
An IMEI - what is comparable to a chassis number - can't get locked / unlocked

Click to collapse
So that crosses out my thoughts of it being a sub branch like metro or something and network locked to only metro then?
