FM radio app - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

What firmware do I need to stay on to get a working FM radio? (not streaming service). Does the U firmware support it? Or it's on the stock? Need this info before I settle for the s7

The t-mobile firmware supports it, I can't speak for the others.

I'm on the SM-G930U 6.0.1 and it does not have access to FM radio chip, so says NEXTRADIO

SM-G930T on 7.0 for me, and Netxradio works just fine with headphones.

How did you get 7.0?

It's a beta. There's a few of us that got into it

I do not have the S7 with me yet. You could ask one of the users to pull the APK for you.

This is one of those selling points that T-Mobile shoulda used. Reception is actually better than what I was getting on my HTC One M9 (shocker). Now if we could just root it. LOL!
Thanks for the head's up, all!

This is my Sound Mod Thread for S7
This is for Flat and Edge versions.
If your model is not compatible with the mod, upload your stock mixer_gain.xml and mixer_paths.xml located on SYSTEM/ETC and i do a specific mod for your model.

@zubi182 - Wouldn't we need root for this mod? I don't think we will be seeing root on our model.

Yup
Can we just remove this thread.
Can we revive this thread now that we have root, this sound mod looks amazing!!
@zubi182 Verizon has root! here are the mixer paths for SM-G935V
Now that we have root, just use Flashfire to install Viper4Android. That's what I did, and it works like a charm.

I don't recall all of the steps, but you need to disable stagefright in buid.prop, and the sound alive apk. I can't remember the page/forum I found it all on. Search S7 Edge Viper4Android on Google, that's how I found it. I had 8 teeth pulled today and am ****ed up on pain meds, at the moment, so I'm fairly useless. The amount of underlined words, due to autocorrect, on my screen, is ridiculous lmao

Stock LG FM RADIO APK?

Does anyone have this? The sprint version only has nextradio and it nodata/basic tuner doesnt store favorite stations.
Try this. Extracted it from my H955. Attached the apk. This FM radio apk is for Android MM 6.0.1
Uninstalled the FM radio on my phone and then reinstalled using the apk I attached and it worked, so if there isn't some compatibility issue between the sprint version and international H955 then it should work.
Good Luck.

thanks, but it didnt work. it gave me an error message saying theres a problem parsing the package
Huh. That sucks.
I don't have any other ways to test it right now. I'm also using Marshmallow and not Lollipop, maybe that's also something.
I wonder if your carrier just doesn't want you to use the lg fm radio xD
Anyways, have you enabled unknown sources from security?
If that doesn't work then try enabling usb debugging (Longshot but worth a try)
After that if you have antivirus enabled then try temporarily disabling it? I'm not saying you have to, just worth a shot, up to you.
If none of the above work then it might just be the incompatibility between the h955 version and your own phone.
Edit: Apparently I forgot, that if you have unknown sources disabled it won't let you install it anyway so meh...

The error he got means it's an apk made for marshmallow, which won't install on lollipop
On my H955 MM it works great

Huh... Had a feeling it might be that...
Thanks for the confirmation. Sweet to know it works on MM :highfive:
So reverted to stock 5.1.1 cause I wanted to do it anyways and got the fm radio from there.
If it was a firmware issue then it should technically work. Either way atleast they're both up here if anyone should need them for any reason.
Attached the 5.1.1 FM Radio to this reply.
If you still need it then good luck. :good:

I tried it with H950 5.1.1. It installed and ran but no sounds. O well. thanks for the apk.
Hmm, tried the same thing with this version. Uninstalled the app, reinstalled the apk I uploaded, plugged in headphones and it worked fine
I want to say that it might be different phone version compatibility issues but then again it ran on your phone so now im clueless :silly:
Edit: Plus I doubt LG would make different apps for different phones like that anyways :silly:
@Azure Potato
Thanks the 2nd apk worked. i think it might be the mm version that threw it off as i did all your steps & still nothing, but sprint model LS996 has fm capability but just no stock fm app, and instead uses nextradio app.

Yeah, seems like it was the MM and LP incompatibility as Bert98 pointed out. Glad to hear it works for you. :good:
Gotta add edits to the posts now to indicate which apk is for which os as maybe someone else needs them. :silly:
Doesn't work on H950. When I turn it on it displays these messages:
Mock: RadiN
Mock: Audio_Activate
Mock: UNMUTE
When I click on Scan it says
Mock: Scan
It mocks me too much.

Roms for u.s galaxy s7

I'm a complete noob here so I'm sorry if I'm using the forum wrong. I appologize if I am. I've looked all over here and online and couldn't find anything but was wondering if there are any other custom roms for the snapdragon variant of the s7? Thank you all and sorry if I posted anything wrong.
check out the echoe rom its a very good rom http://www.echoerom.com/
That's what I'm currently on right now. Sorry I should have clarified other than the 2 that I've already seen on here.

Snapdragon doesn't have a unlocked bootloader so those are really the only roms there are
I figured as much. I wasn't completely sure though so I just thought I'd ask. Thank you though guys!

Sorry, S7 noob here; There is obviously a ton of info about this, but I'm not sure what's up to date!
Is this Android Marshmellow/Android 6? Are there are issues using this Verizon ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...om-s7-t3453441) on the Tmobile SM-G930T phone? Wifi calling work?
Also, can anyone post summary of steps? I'm finding all kinds of info, but not sure what's up to date (eg root->flash this rom with ODIN->Update APN settings to tmobile...)
Thank you!

use call speaker as a speaker speaker lol?

So u saw a mod for s7 that let you use the call speaker as a 2nd speaker so u would hear from both speakers and now that i have root I was going to try it but i coudnt find the post so maybe someone can give me a guide and links to wat i need it would be appreciated from me and anyone who also gets help from the person who post it andd I'm also wondering if it works for usa variants on 7.0 for s7 (obviously)

Still I'dont get any bugs or random reboot or etc. Everything working perfectly. One thing is, software update is not working. Just show "This version is not supported".
Edit 1. Always On Display is not working at version 4.1.37
Edit 2. Working after reboot!

You may have to update some Samsung apps for them to work. Also, night mode doesn't fully work (some Samsung apps not included in it). Also, much faster and smoother; however, slightly faster battery drain for me. All the new software is a plus though. The important bugs are similar to bugs on official betas for s9.

Thanks for the update. I will probably wait and stay on Oreo for now, but I will admit, my fingers are itching and I'm very tempted to give this leak a try. Then the part of my brain ? that handles logic and common sense kicks in again and tell me to wait.

I would suggest you using modded odin. I also had an unlocked snapdragon S8 US variant SMG950U1 as well and when I flashed the Odin files for CRK1 my device became a Verizon S8 model SMG950U...CRK1 (no longer unlocked but has bloatware). Once the base model is CRK1, you have to download 2 update.zip files. CRK1 to CRL1 and CRL1 to DRL6.
Follow the instructions from the link provided from OP on the first post.
