My moto g 3g hard bricked.. help! - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone bricked dead, It won't respond to anything, won't turn on and won't show it is charging even!
When I connect it to pc thro usb windows shows a device is connected then says "device is not working properly"
and every fast boot shows "waiting for device"
I tried everything, I don't know what to do.. can anyone help me please?
Thanks

Reinstall the pc drivers and try to put the phone in bootloader mode (press power+volume down for roughly 3 seconds.) If the phone doesn't boot into bootloader (fastboot) mode, I'm afraid you will have to send it to moto (as fastboot flashing firmware is taken as last resort).
Edit : You sure the usb port is fine? It might have been that the usb port got damaged and now the battery drained out.

I think usb debuging is off... Thats why computer not recognizing....

Your phone won't turn on? How do you expect to show on your PC if you can't even turn the device on? It sounds like either the battery or USB port is bad and the battery died so now it can't charge... Assuming of course you tried the normal stuff like cables, chargers, different ports, etc.

Similar thing happened to my phone I kept my phone overnight charging and in morning I tried to go to bootloader mode It took about 1 min to go to bootloader mode then after going to bootloader mode go to twrp recovery and reboot system and you are done remember try this whole process on charging your device if doesn't work still you will have to give it to moto hope it works

if your device is not responding when you press Power button, probably is hardware problem.

when you connect your phone in flashmode green light should stay on (press & hold vol down then plug usb in)
it should show
"device connected in flashmode"
IF you want fastboot mode
when you connect your phone in fastboot mode blue light should stay on (press & hold vol up then plug usb in)
NOTE-it should actually do bootloops....not sure why red light

Sometimes flash tool, while flashing tells me to turn on usb debugging (although its already on). So what do I do? Wait. After ten minutes(approx), device disconnects automatically and then flashtool requests me to connect in flash mode. So I disconect my usb cable and connect it again in flash mode and voila! flash begins. Worked for me, hope it works for u too..

yes thats a common mistake
on flashmode connect phone in flashmode only when asked (or like you said ...you will have to do twice)
on fastboot mode your phone has to be connected in fastboot before selecting the fastboot mode
I'm having very similar trouble, i flashed FXP CM10 a little while ago until the phone stopped receiving a signal (which has happened a few times using CM10), unfortunately the battery died before i got home to flash it again. 3 days and 7 hours later and the battery still hasn't charged, i've managed to boot into android very quickly while it's connected to a wall charger but i get nothing at all if i try and connect in flashmode or fastboot.
Is the battery dead? Is there something i'm probably missing? I figured this might go to someway with hoping the OP.
[Edit: Good news! I've plugged into USB and i can get to the battery bar with the power symbol, maybe i can get to flashmode after all!]
[Edit 2:] Noticing the phone had just enough power to get to the battery/power symbol screen, held down the volume button for about a minute till it went through that cycle and managed to get it into flashmode, installed stock and plugged it into the wall. 5 mins later i hit the power button and it's working again! Hooray!

So, when you press Power + Vol down while connected to a computer nothing happens?
Doesn't make sense that you can only get into download mode when plugged on a wallplug.
How about when you are not plugged in at all? Can you still get into download mode??

Hmmm.. Unless you can get into download mode, I'm afraid you are out of luck...
What exactly did you do when you flashed the "stock version for the EE phone? (what does EE mean?)
I don't understand how a ROM for the Moto G can screw up download mode...
Maybe you can try this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2623587
I guess this only works if you have a Moto G that don't want to power on and if you plug in a pc is recognized like "qhsusb_bulk"..
Be sure to read the thread carefully...
And adb doesn't work?
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
Maybe you need to let it charge, or your battery simply died.... try using a factory cable
If you can reach Bootloader (even in a wallplug) the Bloader isn't failing...
Sounds like a electrical problem

Cannot Enter Bootloader or Use Volume Up.

Hello Guys,
My OnePlus One screen broke, it was in my drawer for more than 15 days without charge, i connected charger for 1 hour it just went from 1% to 5% but i didnt thought much about it as my priority was to change screen, i bought touch+lcd with frame and replaced it myself, but it wasnt powering up then i tried putting the backpanel on, it then booted up to the home screen, but the battery indicator wasnt moving up i powered off the phone after that it never turned on, i researched a bit and found out the after long period of time if you dont charge your phone might have problem charging and there was one suggestion which i followed and that was charge OPO using usb cable attached to PC, i left it for somewhat 7hours and it powered on i thought it might be the problem of ROM i flashed official H2OS (regret selecting this rom) using TWRP, it was a catastrophe my phone wont Enter Bootloader or Recovery, and wont even boot to system, it seemed i hardbricked my device, i used Oneplus one recovery tool 64GB to bring my device to life but after that no matter what i do my device wont enter to bootloader as the volume up button stopped working too : tried advance reboot, powerup+volumeup, opo toolkit.
Help me, i want to root my device and unlock bootloader once again.

Is your volume up button actually broken or does it still work and can you boot into something? If it still works (hold on, this idea might be a little crazy xD) you could try completely hard bricking (no joke! you cannot get into Qualcomm download mode with a booting device) and restoring it with the msm8974downloadtool from the oneplus one unbricking guide which should theoretically fix everything that is wrong.

Even If my volume button dosent work then why wont it enter bootloader via advance reboot it just restarts to system after selecting reboot to bootloader,so i should hard brick my device once again, P.S. i have done that twice before though.

Charged down to 1% switched off and dead. Not flashing/detecting by computer

After a busy day, My phone Charged down to 1% I have put on charging and after 5% i pulled the charger out. Put an alarm and slept. After waking up in the morning I saw it was Off, I tried to Charge but red light didn't respond. I tried to switch on, the screen blinked black light for 2 seconds. Later I have tried pressing Home+Vol Up+ Vol Down, I have tried Recovery mode and Factory Mode it turned off after blinking for 2 seconds. Thats it and dead. Now no response from phone even I charged the battery from another phone and put in this. There is no screen blinking from then Onwards
I tried :
Flashing with SP Flash but when connected to PC It is not detected as Mediatek Driver 'USB Device Not Recognized' In Device Manager it shows 'Unknown USB Device' Port Reset Failed. Re installed Mediatek drivers and tried VCOM too. nothing worked.
Last year I have updated to Lollipop officially connecting it to wifi and selecting 'Software Update' in Settings. From then USB is not detected whenever I connect PC, It only charges the phone there is no option of USB Mass Storage. So I have never turned on USB Debugging option.
I never:
Tried to Root, Flash or Change ROM and any Software related works.
Please help me in this issue. How to Recover It. How to Flash it and Install any Lolllipop firmware without losing Phone Storage Data (If possible).

If you did not do any software related work, you bootloader must be locked. Which means you cannot flash any ROM by yourself. The only thing you can do right now is to hand it over to the service center. There is absolutely no other way.
But such a case is absolutely impossible if you are not rooted. If it is still under warranty, exchange the phone. Or your phone must have been refurbished at some point of time.
my problem
Is there any other way that can we do anything by ourselves rather than giving it to service center

Please help me

Hi
I've made a bad mistake which I'm hoping people can help me with. I tried updating my phone wit MIUI 8 as I had an issue with my battery. My updater app on my phone was not working so I downloaded zip file and tried doing it manually from the app. Then my phone just turned off and I'm unable to turn on or charge. None of the button combinations work and when I plug in to my laptop through usb port I get a message saying it doesn't recognise device. I've tried using unlock function on website but get error messages in chinese around ip address to malfunctioned phone number so no luck there.
Appreciate any help as I had a lot of information, apps and data that i would hate to lose. I lost my wife 3 months ago and I have some precious memories on that phone. I know I should have done a backup beforehand and that was stupid of me.
Is there anyway i get can my back in without losing data. if not then anyway at all to get my phone working.
Thanks, from a very down MI4C user
Try holding one of the power buttons(don't remember which one) and plug in the cable so the phone boots into fastboot mode. If you manage to get into fastboot boot TWRP and copy your files straight from it as it has mtp support. If your PC sees your phone as an unrecognizable device there's a big chance you can recover your data. Last hope would be to use a modified usb cable for edl flashing although this way you'll most likely lose your data.

Thanks, first suggestion doesn't work unfortunately. I have now been given permission to unlock bootloader but problem is the device is not recgonised due to usb issue.
So I cant turn on, won't charge etc and none of button combinations work. Has anyone encountered the issue with usb before. Unsure of 'modified usb cable for edl flashing'. All very frustrating.
thanks for any help
Anyone else have any ideas. Desperate here without my phone and important data
Have tried everything at this stage...utter despair. My phone just won't turn on or charge or enter fastboot mode etc
Anyone please help
The modified USB cable that I spoke of is used to force boot the phone into emergency download mode. It's baisicly a last hope flashing method that should work regardless of how broken the phone is. The only downside is that using this mode you only can flash via miflash and this will wipe your data. As for the cable you can either make one (look for deep flash USB cable schematic, it involves swapping 2 wires) or just buy one. Once you get into edl just follow the unofficial bootloader unlock guide to flash the 6.1.7 rom as it is flashed in the emergency mode.
Edit: whenever you plug your phone into your PC does the screen or led diode light up at all? You can also try holding vol- and power button and plug the phone into a charger (not PC) to see if it will respond at all. Charger gives more current so maybe it will force the phone to boot.

Thanks Adi. I don't think I will be able to make one. I've seen some threads elsewhere about getting into EDL mode, do you always require modified cable to do so?
Nohting happens when I plug it into PC, no lights etc. Tried charging using normal power supply but nothing happens either. Have even tried connecting to powerbank overnight but no power is taken from it.

So there is no "unrecognized device" popping up in windows anymore?
If so, let the phone lie for 1 more day (without connecting any power sources to it). Afterwards charge it (with a normal charger and a cable that works for another phone) for about 2 days (or until you see the notification led charging). if nothing happens you can try a different charger or an usb port for another 2 days.
If your computer recognizes the device ("unrecognized device" or just any reaction by connecting the phone) try to reinstall all the drivers (xiaomis/qualcoms, as well as adb, fastboot) and see if there is something happening.
Report back if it helped.
Edit: Did you try different cables? had similar problems with op2 (not recognizing) with xiaomi cable...
Edit2: to make sure the device is completely dead, use a linux distro (e.g. Ubuntu, ensures that there are no driver problems, you can install it on a usb drive) and a cable which surely works (try it on at least 2 other phones, if data transfer works its ok) then first install fastboot (ctrl+t to open a terminal) by copy/pasting "sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot". Afterwards hold vol- and power button for at least 12secs and plug mi4c in (release the buttons after plugging it in). Now you can run "sudo fastboot devices" and see if there is sth listed (should even recognize it in edl).

You don't need to use the modified cable as you can enter edl from fastboot, but the cable method is used to force the phone into it if you can't enter it the normal way. As for rescuing it, try the method @wertus33333 suggested.

Did it work?? Any information would be appreciated, so the next one with this problem doesn't have to open a new thread.... @colb16
Apologies for not updating, I got an answer on MIUI official forum from a very helpful member called Codex. Below are steps he asked me to follow and although it took a few attempts my phone came back to life after following below and then pressing power and volume down for numerous minutes.

Download ROM flashing Tool http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
Then download fastboot rom, if you don't have previously downloaded one. http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
extract the fastboot ROM
Select extract location in flashing tool
connect your phone
refresh
select SAVE USER DATA
