I did a search on this topic, but could not find an answer.
So I have the Gear S3 Frontier through Tmobile and I'm trying to put my phone (Tmobile Note 4) into silent mode with no sound or vibration, but when I do, the Gear S3 stops alerting me of notifications.
Does anyone have any idea how to mute the phone, but still get notifications on the watch?
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Were you able to find a solution? I'm getting frustrated that my phone still makes noise and vibrates when my watch is connected. Makes me want to go back to Android Wear.
I have a galaxy S6, putting it (the phone not the watch) into do not disturb mode works for me.
I put my phone on DND mode as well and I still get notification alerts (vibration + sound) on my s3.

Any help please? I already look all the options and cant find that one. On the former Huawei watch i had that feature and i like it very much, get the phone silenced when connect with the watch.
Keep your S7 in do not disturb mode. Your watch will still vibrate (or make sounds, if that's how you set it up).
So the gear S3 doenst work like the huawei watch?? When i connect the huawei watch to my S7 it automatically mute the S7 so the only one vibrating is the watch. The Gear S3 dosnt do that???

Because Huawei is a Android Wear watch, this is not. You can mute S7 with Wear but that option is not available with S3
You could probably set up a Tasker profile to mute your phone when the watch is detected / connected with bluetooth.
On your gear manager app go to settings then notification and make sure you have show while using your phone turned on. Then you can turn you phone on silent and only have the watch vibrate
Is it possible to mute the phone from vibrate/sounds when receiving a messages/notification on the Gear instead of going to them both? I figure If I am wearing the watch I don't need any notifications coming via the phone too...

Turn off the notifications on your phone samsung gear settings.
hello I have problem that make me crazy im android pie
if my phone ring there is no sound onky vibrate from phone and watch ring
I fouind the setting in phone

sounds
only when the phone ring you will see new pop up message that ask you where the ring sound phone or gear
if I set phone everthing ok
but if for some reason phone disconnect from gear all proses need from begging
in oreo its was option in dev option that disable send ring to band
now it very bad with pie
plz someone can fix that?
Hi. I am having problems with Gear S3. Some apps like YouTube don't make my Gear S3 vibrate or sound even when the options are set to do this. But some apps like Outlook, I get the notification and the vibration. The only thing that works properly is that when I receive any notification(with or without sound or vibration) the watch screen turns on and I see the notification content .Anyone experiencing this?
Ok. I fixed it right now. To solve this issue go to your phone settings->apps and notifications->(choose the app with problems)->notifications-> You will see a list with different notifications->Tap on one and put in what to do to emit a sound and vibrate. You can do this with the others notifications in that list. Sorry if I am wrong. My language is not english. I hope I helped someone. Thanks.

I just bought a Gear S3 Frontier which i am using with an LG G7.
My problem is that if the phone is not set to vibrate when receiving Facebook Messenger messages than the watch will not vibrate. if i put the phone on vibrate, the watch will also vibrate. this is the same also for normal sms.
Can i change this somehow? I would like my phone NOT to vibrate (basically just show on the screen that i got a message in FB messenger) and my watch to vibrate.

I had the same problem with the S3 connected to a Samsung phone (either Note 8 or Note 10, similar behaviour). The watch only vibrates when the message on the phone also triggers vibration. I wanted exactly the same behaviour you describe. I enabled the vibration on the phone for messages, but a Samsung phone also allows the vibration intensity to be set per type (i.e. calls, messages, etc.), so though vibration is enabled for messages, I set its intensity to 0. Now the phone does not vibrate on messages, but my Gear S3 does.
I don't know if the LG allows changing these settings similarly though...
