Whatsapp messages - Samsung Gear S3

Does anyone knows why i can't see full conversation on whatssapp from a person on my gear s3 ? I can only see the last message !

Yeah its terrible annoying. its not just you. Its the retarded Samsung who doesnt seem to know how to make software. Things like these are the reasons why tizen isnt becoming a success. And it seems like samsung doesnt give a **** about it either because i allready mentioned this on every channel they got. And only thing they reply is: its a shame that you feel this way, we hope you enjoy the rest of the features on the gear s3.
So it seems we are stuck with the fact that when someone sends you a message on whatsapp followed by a smilie you will Always need to pick up your Phone to see what the message was. Because there is no freaking way of knowing what that was looking at the gear.
I really wonder what the quality testing team of samsung was saying/thinking when it happened to them on the gear s3... they must have thought "Ahh well.... only a billion people use whatsapp nowadays, who cares that it doesnt work like it should!"
i guess i will end up using my old moto360 soon if this isnt fixed. the notification system on the gear s3 is a mess and samsung isnt planning to get it fixed.
Just got an update of tizen today with a fix... guess what they were fixing the world clock with 2 countries i have never even heared of LMFAO. Thats what they are fixing atm.. stuff no one uses!

The fact is that on facebook messenger i can see the full conversation !
They are fu..ing retarded if they don't fix this problem !

didnt know it worked with the facebookmessenger almost no one uses... I wonder how it was on the gear s2? was it as ****ty as on the 3? or did it work?

It actually has to do with Whatsapp itself. The "Read More" option used to be there in an older version of Whatsapp (I forgot which) when the notification shows up on Gear S2. After that version of Whatsapp, neither images or "Read More" will show in the notification.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/help/notification-whatsapp-read-t3313024/page3
Try this.
After I bought it I did not have any conversation in Whatsapp,to make my idea of how it works. Hopefully you all to be well.

[Q] MayMyRun-- Gone from Gear Manager

It appears that Samsung is removing apps from Gear manager that were actually useful to be replaced by gadget apps that really don't do much.
Called Support to ask what happened to MapMyRun, one of the original fitness apps available. The answer- probably pulled by the developer they say!
Why- I ask? They don't really know, just speculation. I asked how I would replace it if I had to do a reset since right now it still functions and is in my list of apps, the answer is you can't.. Bottom line the answer is that I am SOL. By the way this is for the US market and if it is still around in other markets please post something.
I think it is time to return the Gear 2 and cut my loses. We can't even keep the apps we have much less get any good new ones even with $1.25 mill up for grabs! Ashamed because I really like some of the features but am beginning to believe that what we have now is about as good as it is going to get with Android Wear out and the Apple and Microsoft wearables in the near future. Don't even mention the rumors about the Gear 3 to go along with the Note 4!
I got a Gear Manager update today to 2.1.14071502 but MapMyRun still doesn't show. I got it earlier and hope they pulled it to finally add heart rate monitor support for the Gear 2.

If it was pulled by the developers, then Samsung should now, not just guessing.
I bet it is their app store screwing things up.
I have seen it for my own apps too, suddenly many users an't see the app anymore.

S Voice connection issues

I got a Gear 2 yesterday. Using it with a GS6. My only gripe so far is how long it takes to initialize or use S Voice. It was fairly snappy at first, but now it won't initialize. I tried restarting both devices and unpairing/repairing them. No improvement.
Any tips?
40 views of the thread and no help, so I guess S Voice sucks on the watch as bad as it does on the phone.

Wish I had an answer. I had noticed the same thing from time to time. I tried showing it to my girlfriends brother today to talk him out of getting the iWatch. He asked me how to send text messages and I tried sending one as a test. At first it said that it was not able to connect but then it connected but it said that it couldn't hear me. Really annoying!

Thank you for the affirmation. I guess I have to just decide if it's worth keeping if it can't do one of the major reasons I got it. I guess I would like to know if people's experiences with Google Now on Android Wear is any better. I honestly don't get why Samsung keeps pushing S Voice. Even on my Galaxy S6, it's still rubbish.
S voice is crappy but works for the basic things. I've got similar connect issues too. Resets help me, but it's frustrating
I checked out the motor 360 with Google wear and it was slow, and I found the interface clunky.
So I think we have the better device right now. Jumping to another phone will not get u the best... I think they all suck in their own way because all this is new. Imo

So what did you decide, keeping it? I'm hours away of return this as well, getting frustrating. Seems like it works 30% of the time, but it's the only watch with a camera and I like taking quick snaps while I'm out traveling or family parties.
If I can get faster s voice I'd be happy!

I had that for the longest with MM using my Note 5. I sent the watch into Samsung twice for this issue and they replaced it twice. Once I got the 2nd watch S Voice has worked without issue. There were a couple times where it said it sent texts but never did. It could have been a connection issue but 99% of the time it works flawlessly.

New to Gear S2, using non Samsung phone

Hey guys! So I just joined club Gear S2 and so far I'm enjoying...for the most part. Some things I am curious about, though. I currently have the HTC 10. I am getting notifications for the most part no issue when my phone is locked. Some things I'd like to know is about other apps. I'd like to download Hangouts on it as the Buddy app is so limited. I've seen some places that say you can download the Android Wear app and use it on the Gear S2 but when I go to do this it doesn't seem to connect. Hangouts seems to be the best option when it comes to voice-to-text. Any other cool tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Tips and Tricks found *UPDATED 11/28*

Hey all, Just got my LTE variant and have been fiddling around with it and have discovered some things. Wanted to post here and let people know what I've come across.
So far I have discovered:
-Gear works with Rooted Devices (at least with my Note 4)
-Samsung Pay from Gear works with Rooted Devices (Can't add my Discover Card yet, planned support for hopefully end of year)
-You DON'T have to use the default texting app in order to send/receive/reply to messages from the S3. So far, the apps I've found that support this are Google Hangouts, ChompSMS, Textra, and Google Messenger. It does have a few hangups though. This thread states the methods I used to achieve this and the hangups observed by doing this.
-You can control phone music from the s3, but cannot stream to it...yet.
-Gear seems to auto lock when removed from wrist. Unable to tell if it's based on the lack of heart beat or sense of movement. Not an issue, just making aware.
-Gear supports AOD (Always On Display). The type of display given is based on the watch face currently in use, so it would appear your watch face must have support for it otherwise it will default to a stock face (needs testing). Using AOD will shift pixels around to prevent burn in every time you go to wake the watch. Have lightly tested and can verify it shifts. Will be testing on my next charge cycle to test battery life and burn in potential (trying to test as much as I can within my 14 day period of which to exchange for another device (lemon law)
So far that's all I've come across and will update this page accordingly with more information. Please feel free to add yourself anything you have discovered so we can let the rest of our Gear toting brothers and sisters know these tips and tricks.

The Samsung Pay you use is a baked in app that is part of the Samsung Gear app. I have in installed on my rooted Nougat port on my HTC 10 and it works perfect. You don't need the official Samsung Pay app installed on the device at all. It seems as of now, that Samsung thinks the security on the watch is enough to allow you to use it side by side with a rooted phone. I hope it stays that way, because I have never been able to use Android pay because of the Root issue.

Did you keep the watch @Naturesretard?
I have bought the Gear s3 and would like to connect with my Samsung A9 Pro (sm-A9100), however, when I checked the passkey for both sides, the s3 and a9 pro keep connecting but no further....
Does anyone has such situation? and what can I do....
ps. My A9 pro was rooted and some defaulted samsung app were forzened before.

Yes I did. However have been very busy since getting it and have not had time to update the thread. I've tested a few additional features and even a skin from Skinomi to protect the watch. When I have time tonight I will try to update what I can.
What I can say now, the watch feels a little lackluster, but since it's my first wearable, and it works for what I bought it for (messaging/calling, Samsung pay) it works great. But there are time I worry I'm not using it to its potential or it's just in its baby phases and doesn't have many apps yet.

I just picked mine up a few days ago a and that sums up my feelings also. It's my first smartwatch and I've been wondering if I'm using it's full potential. I haven't been thrilled with the battery life but I have been playing around with it a lot and have only charged it a couple of times. Hopefully that will improve when I finally decide on a watch face that I can live with, I think I've changed the face a couple of hundred times.
Samsung Pay is available on S3, the only difference is that if you bought the BT version, it'll requires that you have the phone nearby for the 4GLTE to make the payment or such. If you have the LTE model and uses that, then you should be fine.

Correction, BT version can do 10 transactions without the phone nearby for Samsung Pay. After that, you need to sync with the phone to get another 10.

I use it. Seems to be working fine for things like notifications. Although it doesn't seem to work for making calls or sending SMS from the watch.
It's crap to use on the M9 as I do quick little replies with my Smart Watch all day and not being able to do that was a huge deal breaker for me.

this is the only thing that bothers me so far. if you get a text and try to reply on the watch, it just tells you to look at your phone. hoping Samsung gets that straightened out at some point, but not counting on it anytime soon... I love this phone, but I will be checking out the s8 when it comes out...
My S3 and Mate 9 work fine...Notifications, text messaging, phone calls, Samsung Pay, etc...Work Flawless. Makes me really love me S3 and Mate 9. Especially in my office.. I have to leave my phone on the edge of the desk or no signal, an incoming call I just answer on my S3....
you have the possibility to download watch faces from Samsung Gear ? You need to log with a Samsung account user id ?
how is that working ?
Lol, I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about. My Gear S3 Classic and my Pebble Time Steel work perfectly with my Mate 9. Maybe browse the S3 forums and read up? Whatsapp works great with W-History app. I use textra for my SMS app and all replies work (hands down the best app to use for SMS/MMS - you guys really need to do your research and not use stock SMS apps - most are garbage, sorry).
Again, tinker and do your research... You'll realize your devices have much more potential than you realize.

I do too, but it works for me to do that. Then again, I don't do SMS, I do Hangouts, LINE, and email, mostly. SMS is too costly where I live, so nobody uses it.
Gear S3 (Frontier LTE) works and functions properly with my Mate 9
I have the U.S. unlocked model of the phone, which is running a slightly different firmware than the European model.
When my Gear S3 is connected, I get constant disconnect messages throughout the day, even when the phone is right next to the watch. It will work for the most part when it is connected, but I received a call the other day and my watch kept ringing after I answered the phone, which has never happened on any of my other phones.
I have also had issues with my Fitbit syncing. It will just disconnect and not reconnect. So, I think the answer depends on which model of the phone you have, at least for now.
Some question I also wish to know as I'm planning to buy Gear S3 Frontier in the future too.
1. I'm confused in people saying making call and receiving SMS don't work, and some say work, exactly which one is true? Is it that you can accept call but can't start call from the watch?
2. Any one that uses What's App, Wechat, Hangout, specially Facebook Messenger etc, are you able to do reply to these apps(like in notification area)? Like not only the quick message, to be able to type manually on watch and reply (Voice or Keyboard)?
Thanks.

Thanks opasha,
I just loaded Textra and I can recieve and send texts from my Gear S3.
The only issue with SMS is that you can't reply from the NOTIFICATION on the watch. You can, of course, send an SMS from the contact itself, but for a quick "on my way home" or "yes that sounds good" from the notification on the watch, can't do it if you have it paired with the Mate 9, whereas it worked great with the S7 Edge.
I was not able to make a call through the Gear when connected to my Mate 9 (BT Gear version).
But actually after a reset of the Gear, that I didn't do when I swapped from S6 to Mate 9, calls are working
And as it has been said, you can use a third party sms app. (Thanks to @opasha, I installed Textra which is pretty cool, even if it deleted all my sms...)

Yes, you can download Samsung Store to get (all) the apps on your Gear.
To do so, you do need to log in on your Samsung account.

I had the S3 installed on my previous phone, a Samsung Galaxy S4 and it would go through my battery in less than 4 hours.
(M9Pro - LON-L29, B156, Android 7.0 EMUI 5.0, rooted using the TWRP, PHH superuser method by XDA's raimondomartire)
I had the install issues with the S3 software. It would install and say it was installing and never stop. So I rebooted - the app had installed. I did this for all the other related apps and all worka well. No issues.
Mine keeps telling me that it cannot connect to server. I had to sideload the app after a samsung rep told me on live chat that it would not work on the mate 9 in australia.
This gets weirder. The day after, Samsung Pay suddenly starts to work and even gets as far as to ask me to add cards. When I try to add a card, it says the card is incompatible even though my bank lists it as compatible.
Had a half hour session with a Samsung Rep who stated that as the S3 was bought here and the Phone was bought overseas (Chinese stock), the phone loaded Chinese Samsung Pay plugin and it is looking for Chinese bank servers and of course my Bank doesn't exist there.
Short of finding an Australian stock ROM and flashing it (No idea where), if appears I am totally out of luck with Samsung Pay.
Anyone have any ideas please?
