Moto Z Droid Get Bootloader Unlock Code - Moto Z Guides, News, & Discussion

So, I finessed the Motorola support chat to give me the unlock code for my Moto Z Droid, which normally you can't get the code for.
Note: I said it was a Developer Edition Moto X because that one is normally unlockable, if I said Moto Z they would just say it isn't unlockable (trust me I tried)
This is also not the first attempt at getting it, it took several attempts across several days in order to get someone who would just get the code for me.
Yashwanth: Hi, my name is Yashwanth. How may I help you?
Brandon: I'm having issues unlocking the bootloader on my Developer Edition Moto X
Yashwanth: I understand your concern and I can certainly assist you with this Issue
Yashwanth: May I know the place of purchase of your device(country)?
Brandon: USA
Yashwanth: Thank you for providing that information
Yashwanth: As I understand you want to unlock the bootloader and having a issue with it. Am I right?
Brandon: Yes
Yashwanth: Okay. May I know the exact issue that you are facing?
Brandon: Whenever I try to get the unlock code through the website, it says my phone is eligible for the unlock but then it sends me to an error page
Yashwanth: May I know the exact error that you see on the screen.
Brandon: Your device identified is either invalid or was not found in our device database. Please double check your device ID. If you believe the Device ID is correct, Please try again later.
Yashwanth: Okay.
Yashwanth: Please check your device ID.
Brandon: I have multiple times and I've gotten the same error every time.
Yashwanth: Okay.
Brandon: Is there any way that you could look it up for me?
Yashwanth: Have you tried to restart the unlock the bootloader.
Brandon: Yeah
Yashwanth: Okay.
Yashwanth: May I know did you enter the string and then you got the error message?
Brandon: I got the error message after I presses Request Unlock Key
Brandon: pressed*
Yashwanth: May I know did you enter the string before you request for unlock key.

Yashwanth: Thank you for providing the information.
Yashwanth: Please give me a moment while get you the unlock code.
Yashwanth: Thank you for staying online.
Yashwanth: I am glad to give you the unlock key to unlock the bootloader. Here is the key : HBIY3M2CKSGQAAXMFTT5

OK, I'll bite. Did it work?

Will this code work for all moto z droid, or is it device specific?

Dude delete this thread . If moto see this they are gonna catch on for sure. I've did the same before with past moto devices on Verizon and was hoping no one would realize .don't ruin it for us that actually was smart enough to figure this out .

Yashwanth has just been fired. :silly:

How did you give the agent your unlock id? I gave mine to her, she plugged it into the website just like how we all tried and said it can't be unlocked.

You have to be very lucky I imagine...

Angela: I am sorry about this but you can call us about this because upon checking I cannot see the device of Moto x Developer
Me: ?? Looking for the device where exactly?
Angela: I am sorry but the bootloader for the device that you want to unlock is not available.
Angela: Your warranty will be void.
Me: That's not true. The Moto X Dev edition is made to be bootloader unlocked?? And I truly don't care about warranty, all I want is to use the device for developing ROMs.
*long pause*
Me: Well looks like you can't help me.
Angela: If you want you can try to local service centers but here your device has no capability.

Ok, so @Asisentr11 explain this:
In another post of yours in a Moto X forum, you say you found an "exploit" to bootloader unlock older Moto phones... You then ask for someone to give you their Get_unlock_code and they supply this:

I prefer he attempt to explain himself first, to be honest... Give him a chance.

Unless motorola tool uses part of the string as a universal identifier, and he just plugged certain parts in to get them to reveal the code .... no matter how I tricked the agent, they all said the id string cannot be manually unlock by any other methods without going through the website of motorola

It's all good. I was fooled by your post, and thought this was legit. I tried three times, lol.
But at least messing with this entire ordeal, I discovered something, maybe you or others can make use of:
On the moto BL unlock page, when you enter your unlock string, [whether or not you click on "check if eligible" for BL unlock], if you click on the "agree" radio button after the disclaimer, leave your mouse hovering over the button, and press "enter" on your keyboard, you get the popup caution that proceeding will void your warranty, clicking yes takes you to a blank weboage (with a web address that ends in ?rell=Yes....maybe someone can use this info for our ultimate goal?
Alsio, the initial BL unlock page web address ends in -a, the webpage where we enter the string(that I mention above) web address ends in -b, if you type in the same address with an ending in "-c", it brings up the webpage confirming that you should have received the email with the BL Unlock key.
I've even clicked on vthe check eligibility button, and before its done validating, clicked on agree radio button and pressed "enter" on keyboard, and still no dice
If anyone figures out a miracle, please inform us at this post of success and we can direct message you for guidance/details.

Let's break down the two unlock codes you said were the same.
Code 1:
990**CENSORED***#
54303632303**CENSORED**********0000000000#
A8A6035CB**CENSORED**C74E30D67F#
25C3**CENSORED**00 0000000000000000
Code 2:
9900045445590200#
543036323830393436570058543130363 0000000#
556A5D37987FAE88A376E2D11170998961337125#
383048050C0001000000000000000000
I've put the differences in bold so that you can see them easier.. Of course they will be similar, because they are MOTOROLA DEVICES. They use the serial numbers, IMEI and other info to construct the unlock data.

If you want ANY real chance for this to work you must replace the first 3 letters of the unlock code data with 990 so that it looks like it's a Moto X to them (Since I told them it was a Moto X Dev Edition and not Moto Z). You have to get lucky and find the right person and say the right things to them, they're real people not robots so there is no set way to trick them. If you honestly think I'm trolling with this entire thread then just move on with your life. There is no reason at all you should worry about it. I figured I'd share how I got my unlock code with everyone else since I couldn't find a way to even root the device, even using DirtyCow.

If u show us actual proof or a screen shot of your screen with u locked boot loader warning maybe someone would believe u

From what I experienced, every support person simply uses the same website we use to try to produce the unlock key. Entering my unlock code produces the error "not eligible", which is identical to what they told me. I even followed your chat word-for-word to see if it would make a difference, still no dice!

These are some great details! There must be some way to break down the website code to determine how this process works exactly. I tried using Dreamweaver and other tools to determine how the unlock code is sent, only to get lost in an area I am not very experienced in.
To add to the details - I had used the bootloader unlock page to unlock my girlfriend's Moto X (2014) in the past - got so excited first when I refreshed the page and Firefox filled in the unlock code field with the code from the Moto X and the message "Eligible" was displayed. (What a disappointment that was)
I tried entering an eligible unlock code to "verify", then replacing it with my Moto Z string before clicking the "get unlock key" button, just to receive the same unlock key for the Moto X.

It would be good if the OP's notifications setting was set to 'Instant email notification' by default.
There is pretty much nothing else. Anyway if you need sim unlocking the place i will send my phone to will sim unlock it for uou.
Good. Sound like I need to just get the unlock code.
BTW is there a system timer (measure how long the phone has been \ in service)?

Search here. There is already a script here that does the same and gives you the unlock code.
You can call ATT for lock code. They are required to give to you. Might take 48hrs. If it is an ATT brand phone.

Thumb rule, any typical case: 6 months from date of release of phone (except iphone) + your account standing position with them.

I don't have the link to the thread, but find attached the script, and the screenshot associated. I have yellowed out the device id and unlock code.
You need to be rooted, I think.
Before I root my device, I would like to understand what the 'cost' (not in terms of $) would be. I am not concerned with warranty.
There seem to be inexpensive alternatives on eBay ($3) that will provide the Unlock code. I realize that this is counter to the spirit of modding, however, I have a thing about understanding what the options are before making a decision.
I appreciate the responses and the help that I have received. Thank you

lost my token
submitted my token request yesterday, no e-mail since then, although i've made 3-4 requests. A question for u guys: my HOX bootloader was unlocked in the past by another guy (it's now relocked for OTA), the problem is that i don't have that unlock token. I've heard that HTC sends the token only once. Is that true? Does anyone of u received from HTCDEV, let's say, at least 2 times the token? Let's presume if i got my original token lost (erased). Any responses appreciated! Thx.

They resent me a token. Deleted the first one (never thought I'd relock) went and got a second one and stashed it on my USB drive just in case.

It won't work with an AT&T CID, which is why you're getting that error. You have to change it to SuperCID.

I wrote Huawei UK in Twitter yesterday.
Today I get the answer I am supposed to send Imei, Serial and Product ID.

The hicare app is another route to go down, successful for some, some told not allowed, and some told ok but dont get any action taken by huawei.
Depends on ur patience, if ure willing to risk waiting. Ive ended up selling mine, had it for 3 weeks and only used it to try to get unlock code through hicare.
Lifes too short to wait 1 or 2 months to get the most basic thing, just get a different phone, its not worth the hassle. Lets be honest, its only an "ok" spec phone and easy to get alternative. Huawei and forum users wont care (not being rude), only youll waste time you wont get back
Bro, I had a 7x and I saw there was absolutely NO development for the same on xda and as a result I sold it and bought it spending extra as 5t was not in stock. If you say its just an ordinary phone, I would not agree to this as I'm using it and I love the features, camera and responsiveness and I never regret the decision of buying this device.
But literally speaking, Indian Huawei support is useless and the people over there are just none other than a customer support executive who even doesnt know what is a bootloader
I have mailed them and those fools replied that "your complain is registered and this is the complaint number". The excitement goes far away after getting this kinda reply which shows a good wait time and that too, will be chance and there wont be any surity that they will understand and give the unlock code. Only this disaapoints, knowing that Oneplus has absolutely no limitations. Lets hope for the best and once I get the code, I'll chuck out EMUI forever from my device and never go back to huawei support.
My phone seems to have been rebranded by the seller.
I am using the european rom.
I received a boot loader unlock code via Google questionnaire, Europe huawei mail and Europe huawei twitter account.
But they tell you the same code number.
However, the code number can not be recognized.
i dont know if the code number is the problem or if it is the problem i tried from the rebranding rom.
i love the form and hardware in this device, but the inability to ROM it is beyond frustrating. I'd send it back if I could for a refund.

Why u people always go for scam, i withdraw 5 winner yesterday, if you think this is scam, go to telegram group mention in some thread in nokia 6, and ask people if this is spam or not
There's already a method to unlock the BL (the MD5 of your serial no.), so this can be easily recognized as a scam
Also, this was written unprofessionally. If you plan to impress others, learn how to construct sentences properly.

M not scaming okay, and if you dont have any interest then you can pass, again m saying, m not impressing people, one more thing, you are not here to judge me to whether should i be here or not.
And if the method is available then why it isn't available yet, if i m not wrong then you are telling about the worst and unsafe method where people brick there device and that only work in nougat, my bootloader key works on every platform not only nougat but oreo too
And if this is scam, prove it as scam, because i have proof that this is not scam

Scamming or not, promoting your own payed service is not allow on XDA. You better delete your thread before mod delete it for you.
Here's the reference for you. Rule 7 states that you shouldn't sell any item on XDA and rule 12 states that "XDA-Developers is based on the principle of sharing to transmit knowledge."

First, you're putting out a site literally say ”The bootloader unlock key is not free for now, so you need to buy it, and we are here to available this service to you at cheapest price." and except everyone here to believe you don't sell your "service"?
Second, the rule 12, XDA should be base on principal of sharing to transmit knowledge. Your thread contains no evidence of any usable information about how to unlock bootloader, but only a link to your own service website that demand our information.
If you really have no intention to sell us your "service", post your proof that can unlock them and make a tutorial show us how to do it, not this giveaway bull****.

Did you read the steps, what actually written there, i know you guys just click on link, you never read the steps
There is participation button on the end of the page, there is countdown timer also, there is list of winner too
You never saw that, beside that, i m posting the email i sent to those guys
One more thing, i already mentioned everything, if anything goes wrong, the moderator can down this thread, there is telegram group also, u can ask people if i have given them for free or not.
If you think the key will work on all devices, then the answer is know, for every device an unique key is generated and that only works on that device only, thats why there is no tutorial for it.
Also if you have any problem then complaint to the moderator, moderator will also see if my disclaimer and each point i mentioned here, is relating to selling service or not.. if he founds m selling then he can remove my thread
Else if you dont have any intrest in this thread then you should pass from here. M not forcing you to take a part on give away
Keeping something which is worthy but waste now, instead of that m give it as free but like lucky draw type...
Yes i was selling before, people were buying too but not now..

Do you know what's your problem? The use of "free giveaway" means you are selling them. You posted your selling page link instead of the Google form link of your "giveaway" that you put on the buttom of the page. I don't know what's your intention, but these to me are advertising and tricking people to buy your "service."
And the explanation on your site, "The key is generated through FIH server from FOXCONN", what make you, presumably owner of a Indian e-store, so special to have the access? Even if you have, what makes you have the right to sell them?
You showing no sharing of knowledge but only advertisement of your store is the reason why you shouldn't be here posting on XDA.
BTW your Gmail screenshots serves no evidence whatsoever.

There's another thread with this topic. You should contact these members. https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20/how-to/bootloader-code-generator-huawei-p20-t3913213
You ask for some stuff dangerous to share. I don't really think someone will bring you these informations. I've already seen someone switch his IMEI, serial and much more with a computer and his main goal : steal an IMEI working and not blacklisted.
Another point, someone else already tried to make a keygen without success. Maybe you are right to try if you are honest, but IMO it's not possible to generate the unlock key because it's unique for each phone and not related to the IMEI (just a way to find your code in Huawei database when they could give us our bootloader code). I can say bullshits, because I am not really developer, but that's my opinion
Sorry if my English is sometimes bad
Ps: don't take this post like an agression, it's not. But we have to be careful with our expensive stuff

Non worries for your English speaking, I understood for the risk but for this is how the keygen is make, need to have a lot of database for compare and see how it's works
I already seen the older post, but I don't think it's the way
But, you just said something important, if a Huawei database exist and it's not a key generator, so someone know the URL for this database, and maybe this is why FH and others can't unlock for now
If someone have the information, please tell to us

I think a database is existing because there is no other way to find the right code for X phone. Except if Huawei generate it themselves, but it's not the case (bootloader code is in NVROM of each phone). At this point, I think they simply use the IMEI to make research and then copy/paste the right code for someone who asked for it before they stop the service.
If I'm right, we just have to find someone who know where these key's were placed, and hoping the database has not been erased.
You seems to be good. But I cannot help you more cause I haven't unlocked my bootloader. Good luck with that, Huawei made a very gigantic mistake by stopping to provide us our bootloader code. Their phones are just excellent, but lack of liberty

I don't think its a database type thing. Mostly because if you enabled dual sim, which modify's the IMEI if I remember correct, the code changes. Which would mean its somehow based off of the IMEI.
I could also be completely wrong, but I'm just thinking out loud!
Hello it would be really cool if you manage to create a bootloader keygen, thank you for your search
