I'm the system admin at my employers and as such use an IPSEC XAuth PSK VPN on my mobile to connect in if a problem occurs when I'm out of the office and not near a laptop. This has always worked successfully in the past (Nexus 5x, Nexus 5, etc).
However I've recently moved to a Pixel and the same configuration fails to complete the connection. Viewing live debug information on the security appliance has shed no light on this, and sadly the NMF260 build hasn't resolved the issue.
Currently there is a bug raised at https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=226180, however given the low priority assignment I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on any under the hood changes in 7.1.1 in this area (DH Groups, Encryption changes, Dead Peer Detection support, etc.). I've had a look around but not found anything useful so far.
Anyone else in a similar boat?
NB: it's worth noting that my home L2TP / IPSEC VPN continues to work perfectly.
I see that you had little luck here too T_T
Today the trial version of vonscilla ended for me, which left me out of our Cisco based xauth psk VPN.

Regular people would never understand why I carry 4, 5 phones with me. It's for the very reasons you mentioned. I have different phones to monitor and troubleshoot front and back ends of my corporate firewalls.

Curious, if the VpnCilla app trial was working for you, why didn't you just buy the full version?
I've used it for years with great success on several platforms, well worth the little cost of it.
I am only moving away from it due to security changes in our network which will require the use of mobile duo authentication shortly.
Just looked it up, paid $4.99 in July 2013 for a tool I have used with great success for years.

I'm the same way.. sometimes. As a sys admin have the company petty cash pay for it, though the price is really less than a draft beer on happy hour. Bite the bullet on this one and save the outrage for the expensive $100 principles. It will be worth the peace of mind, imo.

Yeah, well... the phone is mine, no company phone or account
Only thing that keeps me from buying it is that i had no need for it (for now), and we are upgrading the old networking hardware. I believe we will end up with cisco anyconnect.

Anyconnect works well but be careful of split tunneling. I fought with that for some time and finally called TAC support. Perhaps by now it's better documented and easier to configure. You're getting an ASA I presume?

We're stuck with Fortigate and their woeful support for now (I've had a ticket open for 5 months currently at European Director level).
Trialing Meraki at another site which is so far pain free.
Had the same Problem with my pfsense/opnsense appliances. I never got a working connection with my pixel, so i switched my vpns to ipsec ikev2 with mschapv2-eap, which is way more reliable. Shame on Android, no native client available, so you need the strongswan app

First - enjoy your vacation, but on your return if you have the opportunity to contact pixel support it might help move things forward.
I contacted Pixel Support using the "Contact Us" chat link on their UK site: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/?visit_id=1-636205345232990126-3550376135&rd=2#topic=7078250 and explained the issue, referencing the bug tracker.
They followed up by email and requested I provide logs from the Pixel showing a connection attempt and provided the following instructions (which involve switching Developer Options on - this additional settings menu should be hidden after the next OTA).

Has anyone heard of such a thing or thought about developing one for it? I know the iPhone has one, which makes me sad if they do and we don't.
I was searching for the exact same thing. Sadly, there is no iSlsk for Android, but there are some awesome alternatives.
TubeDroid - It downloads audio/video from a YouTube video. It works flawlessly. Just search for the video, then choose "Download Audio", and after downloading, the .mp3 file will be active in the music library. One thing, the app is commercial, but that shouldn't be a problem. PM me.
iMusic - It's a free [sort of] app. Works just as Slsk does. Trying it out, but it works. It's off the market, but you can go to the developers site [greencode.me] and scan the QR code.
It's free to download, but the free version of the app only gives you a limited amount of search results. Just so you know.
Music Junk - Some people recommended it. I'm not sure how it works, but theres only one way to find out.
That's it. I mostly use TubeDroid for everything, but having an alternative is always good. Take care.
tubemate is on the market, and its free, and constantly being developed and improved.

None of the options above mentioned are soulseek native client with all its inmense data base of songs....
+ 10000! Please, anyone can develope an apk that connects us p2p with soulseek, the hugest music data base of the planet?
Help to make android the best OS! It's true that ios had a soulseek client via Cydia, it was developed by an Argentinian geek when the ios was in its 3.0's. But he stopped to do it unfortunately, this is the only implement I've seen that has ever had an iPhone but never has had the Android in its glorious short history ...

okay, so I have been a fulltime Soulseek user since it's inception.. what 11 or 12 years ago now. I even still use the original client. I have been searching for a proper client since my first Android hack on my Sony Xperia x10a. That's when I first came across Goseek. It cost $2.00, and it seemed so experimental by the actual description that I just never bothered.
For me SLSK isn't just about the music database. Of course it's immense, yes but its the users , and the rooms that make slsk what it is. So I am looking for that in my client, not just a music downloader. its the community. the friendships, the rooms are the soul of the little bluebird. I am going to check out this Goseek now, as it is free now. I will let you know my opinion soon ok. cheers

There are now soulseek clients, both official and unofficial.
The official one is basically slsk qt, and the unofficial one is goseek.
However, although both installed apparently correctly, and all the onboard functions and features appear to work, when it comes to finger tapping on the desired search result/s to begin the download of music file, however much u tap that finger on your screen, nothing happens.
Not even a notice to tell you there is a "fail" somewhere or anywhere in the process.
I am only guessing when I say that unlike my favourite soulseek client, soulseek nt, which only need be installed on a pc or laptop, username and password entered, and voila (firewall may need opening), and it just fully works. No (for non-experts) time consuming port forwarding needed.
So yes, apps exist, but for myself, but NO, THEY DONT work for the average. User, and perhaps don't work for anyone.
If anyone has advice for a "non-geek", will u please let me know know?
Thank you.

I know it's been over a month now since your post. Did you find a fix for GoSeek via Nougat?
Of course Iphone has one, they always get everything and android gets left in the dark, fast forward 7 years later and literally, nothing has changed.
Whoever said goseek works perfectly, clearly has an eye for unfinished garbage thus the android world we live in. Sad when you cannot do something as simple as set a custom path to your music sharing folder which for me is /storage/emulated/0/music but goseek insists I use /storage/emulated/0/goseek even though it is empty, and scanning for media is absolutely useless.
There is no official slsk qt for android, don't know where anyone is getting that from. As for the unofficial goseek it is quite non-functional at best and as mentioned above has been abandoned for some time now.

I don't agree at all. Goseek was messy and poorly designed, a lot of work to do it had. And the worst is that it crashes from Nougat onwards.
But before it served me to download countless of music on my mobile when I was away from my pc.
Pleased dev, fix it!!

I just activated the free trial after following the instructions in the first post of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757991
I did have to input a new payment method in Google Wallet, and even though there was only US based addresses it accepted my address (I used the Zip Code and phone number for the Empire State building!). I was fully expecting it to fail, but it works, and my gmail account now has the All Access trial attached to it.....

Tried it yesterday and giving it another go now. Struggling at the point when I click the free trial banner, it constantly takes me to my music library. No prompt for payment or even starting the trial. I managed to activate my account through a VPN a few months ago without any problems, but trying to get this pass is proving to be a right pain.
I did it via the web page, not on my phone.

I've been doing the same.
Changed my payment method's address (the zip code / state at least) to an American one but still no luck.
Just managed to do it. You have to edit an EXISTING card just by changing the address. Adding a new card with an American address didn't work.
Just change the address on any existing card you have, start the trial, and then change it back.
Is this not going to cause problems on the account when it officially launches in the UK? I've found that kind of thing before.
worked well for me!
Confirmed working here. Signed up through US VPN, Tesco's credit card, and Empire State Building zip code/tel no.
Peachy.
What do you think will happen if I leave it to run past the free trial. Will I get charged in US dollars? Might be cheaper than getting ripped off when it comes legit to the UK.

.
I'm not sure, but if they didn't do a full check including address when the payment method was set up, I don't think they will for such a small payment. I also think $7.99 (£5.25) will be considerably less than the UK subscription.
I guess that since I signed up using a US VPN, the transaction was conducted via a US website and hence not subject to UK fees. You know, a bit like taxes. I mean, if it's good enough for Google...
Worked for me. Nice one

I have a feeling I know why I can't get it working.
I still have a remaining £0.08 Google Play balance on my account (from the Nexus 7 promotion) and so I can't change my account's default location (in the settings menu on Wallet). I have followed everyone's steps rigorously and I still don't even get past the initial "Sign up" banner.

Cool thanks - wondering how this would work with an iPhone... does it work running on the mobile version of the site or is it limited to the Google app?
It runs through the desktop site and the app, as long as you have signed up to the subscription I can't see why it wouldn't work on the mobile website too.

Ok, so this was a huge problem on the Mediapad X1. Where huawei's memory manager kills apps in the background. Why do we need task killers today Huawei? Please stop
On the Mediapad X1 there were a bunch of apps like Google Hangouts that would get killed even though you tell it not to get killed via "Protected Apps", having your texting app not run in the background is bad as you can imagine. So now I have an X2 and it seems like this Protected App thing actually works better, however I noticed today that the bluetooth services were getting killed in the background as it would not pair with my car until I turned on the screen. Because these are built in services you can't "Protect" them.
Just posting this here so hopefully Huawei can see it and fix it
But seriously, they should just use the memory manager built into android and not try to monkey around with, we don't need task killers any more.

I am on an X2 now and yes, it appears to be working so far (Using SimplyText), I've only had the phone for 2 days however so I am still testing, but this was the main reason I almost didn't buy and X2 because of apps shutting down all the time on my X1 in the background.
What tweaks are normally required?

I have had Textra recommended to me as a work-around for MMS texting glitches. I am used to that now and will try it but if I have problems I will try your app. By tweaks I just meant that so much of what most of you do is not what a "regular" cell phone user would know. I had no idea there were memory manager things I might need to address. (I haven't done that before). That is why I am here. To learn about new things and to be prepared as much as possible for when (at this point it is "if") my 702L gets here!

You have to go into startup manager and check each app, protected apps and trust each application, add it to startup, and in permission manager you have to trust each application. I agree though, I wish this didn't exist as there's no need for it. If you're rooted you can take it out but you'll lose the Do Not Disturb mode as it is baked into it.

I was rooted on the X1 and getting rid of the Power Manager still made stuff die in the background, it was pretty irritating. So far with the X2 it mostly works. As far as I can tell only bluetooth dies (Which I can't add to any of those apps as its a system app)
The X2 is such a better phone than the X1. I hope Huawei keeps on top of bug fixes. With a generic android memory manager this phone would be truly awesome.

I got my X2 today from fashioncoconuts on eBay and everything is good. It even came unlocked. I'm liking these eBay sellers.
Edit: after I did a factory reset it said the bootloader was locked. Now when I use Google Maps it tells me I must update my Google Play Services. When I do my Google Account Disappears and my Play Store doesn't open. I'm beginning to dislike Huawei's implementation of their apps. Blocking certain apps from being installed is totally lame on Huawei's part. Now the waiting game begins for my unlock code. I'm giving them three days. If not both phones are going on eBay and I'm done with Huawei. Rant over.

Good Ole fashioncoconuts. They raised the price big time by the time I was trying to jump in and also told me when they answered my message that they were temporarily out of stock. You got a GREAT deal on that one! Worth the wait!

Yeah. They told me they shipped it out on the 5th and didn't until the 15th. Now I know why. They raised the price too right after I bought it. A lot of these eBay sellers jack the price up way too high. No one should pay more than $399 for it. I'm just glad it came already unlocked. It seems Huawei is no longer sending emails to people with the unlock codes anymore.
I use bluetooth in car, and it connects automatically without turing screen on. There must be some other issue.

Ok, this morning bluetooth connect up fine (I'm on B108)
But I noticed the Lux (screen brightness app) had stopped in the background.
Services shutting down in the background was a huge issue on the X1 and for the most part seems to work on the X2 but it seems some things still get killed in the background once in a while even though they are "Protected Apps"
I'll keep monitoring and see if I notice anything else...
If you are having issues with Titanium Backup while you are restoring (if it stays at 0%), then try this.
Possible Solution to T.B:
1) Go to settings > General > About Phone > Software info
2) Press build number 7 times
3) Go to Go to settings > General > Developer options
4) ACTIVATE USB DEBUGGING MODE!
5) That's it. It shouldn't get stuck at 0% anymore
Hope it helps :good:
If this doesn't work, use the method found in Post #11 thanks to @buzzboy for finding it!
Congrats on figuring that one out.
Gonna try this out!

Good luck! This worked for me.... sadly by the time i did it, i had already deleted all my data since i thought it was corrupted LOL
No go. ?
Thanks for the suggestion. It has to be something recent because this just started to happen out of the blue.

Yeah i know. Did you give it at least about 30 seconds on the box showing 0% and see if it moves? . If it didnt work, then i will change the title to "Possible Solution"
It seems that Google f***d up something.

Started happening to me yesterday, using Pixel XL. Very frustrating. USB debugging was already on.
Edit:Happening on my Nexus 6p also!
Have emailed the developer, i suggest you do the same.

Same here, not working. I tried also the "Auto Indirect" mode in PREFERENCES / APP PROCESSING MODE of TB Pro. I did a new install of SuperSU. I did a full clean install of the system. Nothing works. I cannot restore my Apps anymore. The only way to restore the backup is to use the INTERACTIVE MODE, which doesn't allow batch processing but it works as workaround.

I suggest everyone to email the developer.
I've literally been pulling my hair out over the last 24hrs over this!
Flashed different ROMs, Restored my device to factory state, with no luck.
I've found a temporary fix for myself.
1)Settings--Google--Security and turn off verify apps.
2)Turn off verify apps over USB in developer settings.
3)Restore using Titanium.
4)Turn security settings back on.
It Seems google has beefed up their secuirity.
The Guys on the substratum theme thread are having a similar issue.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/substratum/projekt-substratum-t3423623/page180
It seems to work on my Pixel, obviously each device has different settings.
Then i will change this to possible solution instead of just solution lol. Sorry guys. My solution still working for me though... Im using weta 4.7.3 rom. I cant confirm nor deny that google did something to alter the functionality since i didnt try to go back to a version of weta where TB worked fine. (and there is no way i will do that now lol. I still feel the pain of loosing all my data for good)

Uh yeah! Thank you. That's it! Good enough as workaround as we don't need to restore every day!

I was so pi$$$$$ed yesterday!! It just so happened that I was flashing a new ROM to my device yesterday (which I do waaaay too much, I think I have a problem lol) and suddenly wasn't able to restore anything through TiBU. I spent the better part of last night trying various things, all the while thinking that my device was seriously messed up this time!! Heh. I was kind of stressed. Just a tad. And I think I owe my wife some flowers after work today because she wasn't very happy with me for being on my phone all night, yelling and screaming and cussing... you get the idea I'm sure.
Anyway, this works in case anyone else needs confirmation. And for the record, I don't think this is an issue with TiBU because I even tried earlier builds. I agree with the others that it seems to have something to do with something Google implemented... Not very happy and seriously hope it's just a big oops that gets resolved soon. Either that, or TiBU gets updated to work-around the new security measures!

Glad it helped. I too was a little stressed and my poor kids paid the price! I think I owe them a bag of sweets or two.
I've filled out a form to the developers with the possible fix and relevant commits needed to workaround this issue. Let's hope they pay attention.
Thanks to the OP for opening this thread in the first place.

like bypassing the smart lock or prevent the google locked phone? if so just go to accounts on settings and go to google and then remove the account from the device. After that you can flash without remorse. :silly: . Although you can also flash with the google locked phone and still been able to bypass it.

Yep... It's a JavaScript error. Try a different or older browser. For me, it didn't work with Firefox and Chrome on my desktop, and also failed with Chrome on Android. I finally got it running with Firefox on Android.
Maybe they want to make sure you're a worthy beta tester...

No experience with OP devices.
Customer service reports and cutting short device support put me off them.

Personaly i don`t agree, i`ve had the the 3/ 3T/ 5 and support is terrible. They can`t get the camera software/ processing up to par and and after only 6 months your device is allready obsolete. Would never buy a OP again. Nokia fills the gap between OEM devices and the Pixels by creating a new affordable Nexus line, imo a golden move for all android purists.
I've got the Beta, and the only issue I have is the 'xxx is running in the background' alerts (which are part of Oreo anyway, and annoying rather than a showstopper), and lock-screen display is not showing the number of e-mails and texts unread.

i read that you can roll back to 7.1.1 from 8 Beta...in this case will the phone be reseted? i wanna give 8 a try bot do not wanna set the device from scratch again.

Roll back is full wipe. Not something I'll be doing anyway. Sticking with oreo
I also updated to Oreo, so far i have found everything snappier.
Just hope they get the ringtone volume back to nougat levels.
camera seems to take slightly sharper images, but no increase in speed taking shots.
All in all this phone is what the pixels should be, all phones should come with a memory card slot.
