Anyone successfully get a bootloader unlock code yet? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Many of you know, you have to be logged into your HiCloud account and wait two weeks to be eligible to get a bootloader unlock code from Huawei.
Unfortunately for me and others, it seems that a factory reset restarts that clock. So although I have made sure to sign in every day for the past 14 days, it looks like I'm on day 3. I guess this is the price I pay for all of my tinkering?
I'm curious if anyone has been able to get an unlock code, and if so, how?

I'm @ 14 days today, still not getting the unlock code either. Hurry up DC-Unlocker

Can you PM me your Hangouts? I have some questions about it. Particularly, does the notification on your phone show that you've been logged on for 14 days when you go to HiApp -> Me -> Personal Space

Strange, I don't have the Personal Space in the Hicare app. Can't see at all how long I've been logged on.

Sorry, what I was asking applies only to the Chinese version. I'm not sure how the unlocking procedure on an L29 would be, as I haven't got one.

Guess that would explain it ?

Hi @duraaraa,
Just curious! Where would you see that unlock code? Where is it supposed to "land"! I have both HiApp and HiCare apps but I am clueless about how this unlock code is going to materialize!
Thanks.

You must make a request at huawei's site.
https://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/index
Log in, then choose Download, then choose to request bootloader unlock code.

FYI, everyone. I can more or less confirm some bad news. As of present it's not possible to get an unlock code for the (Chinese, maybe also International) Mate 9, even if you've had it for two weeks. I hope someone proves me wrong, but I've looked as much behind the scenes as I can with their bootloader unlock code generation website, and the result is, it's looking for a code but can't find it. I'm guessing Huawei hasn't updated their database or something. I'm trying to get a hold of the very elusive bootloader unlock support people, but not much in the way of a response from them yet. If I hear anything useful, I'll update here.

I just got my code from Huawei via email after sending them a thousand emails.
I will put a guide on what to include to get it.

It's already been up in the other thread, but here you go: http://pastebin.com/RYSvQq21

I called Huawei (Switzerland) concerning the L29 bootloader, and they asked me all the questions (EMEI , S/N, etc...) and they told me that in the next 2-3 days i should get the bootloader information on how to unlock my bootloader.
I'll keep you updated if this is true.

All users who buy a new Huawei or Honor as of today will not be able to unlock the bootloader having the door closed to the installation of ROMs. For those smartphones already marketed there will be an unlock limit: 60 days from today, but it does not work anymore. We will see if the manufacturer ends up retraining and gives the freedom to change what you want, assuming the risk of damaging the mobile phone, which is why it is yours.
It is not good to leave aside the developers and the most mobile fans that are around. I do not understand why they have changed their mind, that someone explains why they think they have made this turn

Actually that's not all correct. Devices Huawei/Honor released after 5/24 will not be able to unlock bootloaders. If you purchase a device within the 60 day period you can still request an unlock code. If you buy a device after the 60 day period you won't be able to retrieve an unlock code.

Fatal error??
goes blank for a week or more
..
Is this a permanent decision ? Without the unlock codz, there is no way to flash custom ROM ? no anyway ? :crying:
that`s good to know...i was planning to buy a View 10 but not under These circumstances. If Huawei/Honor doesn`t let the customers decide, what to do with their device, i son`t buy their stuff.
It`s the same with Nokia btw....
Have to say as someone who bought a view 10 on day one, this is VERY disappointing to hear. I haven't done it yet as I am new to all of this and wasn't sure what to do. Guess I will have to unlock it now. Well, no more Huawei/Honor for me.
This is definitely my last honor or Huaweii product.

The unlock code is based on your IMEI, so you should be able to unlock the bootloader whenever you want. I took the code for my device just in case. I haven't unlock it yet.
I am waiting for you to fix the page to unblock the bootloader, before it went blank and now it lets you type your IMEI, product id, sn ... but when you send it does not do anything, it gives a verification error or ¿?, I don't know, the fact is that it still does not work

Just request it via email from any Honor Support site, Germany for instance sends them out. All they need is your IMEI and S/N
The email for the German support site: [email protected]
You should be able to write it in English, if you want to be on the safe side you can simply run it through Google translate and paste the German translation into your email too :fingers-crossed:

Thank you! Try todo send email to China support , because the Spain Support can't do It, they told me:
"We checked your IMEI and it shows the phone is from China. Unfortunately, we cannot give you the bootloader, code since we only provide them for the region of Spain or Europe. You'll have to wait until the website works again or contact Huawei China"
I asked for China email support and I can't to be able to find the email. I send one but I think that is not correct. :crying:

Just be patient since they don't work on the weekend. I sent them the email on Sunday and had my code by Monday early afternoon :good:
Let's see if it's true. This error comes out on the page:
English page: "If you have any questions about the unlock code application, please contact us" :silly::silly:
China page: "Your IMEI number is not linked to your account"
Have to wait!!
Thank you!!
Good mobile but very bad support if you bought in China, I do not buy anything from China.
From the support of Spain and from Germany can not do it, they send me to the Chinese support, which does not work (http://consumer.huawei.com/cn/support/service-center/).
Within a year or two hopefully, when they stop updating it, I will not be able to install a ROM. They think I'm going to buy another Huawei or Honor, but no.
The problem is that I do not like mobile phones with Notch or rear fingerprint, or rear glass because I fall quite.
When a brand says one thing and then another, it has no honor, it does not honor its brand
I bought the phone a few days ago and I have not tried anything of what they say, they are making me dizzy, it is complicated they put it.
I will have patience but I have my doubts of being able to get it.
I want to sell it but I like a phone that it comes without Notch, that it is made of metal, with Jack and with a fingerprint in front; there are not many mobile phones like that ... what could I buy with these features?
Huawei say that:
Dear xxxxx,
Thank you for contacting Huawei Support.
We are unable to send boot loader code via email and can only be obtained through our website.
If you would want to unlock your phone, you should meet the following conditions:
1. Please register your Huawei ID in our official website http://emui.huawei.com/en/ on your phone.
2. Log in and logout your Huawei ID continuously for 14 days.
3. Each Huawei ID should not apply for the unlock code more than fifth time within 6 months.
If you meet the criteria, please go to https://emui.huawei.com/en/unlock_detail and click the 'download ‘button to login your Huawei ID other than any other third party ID to apply for the unlock code. Please contact us by mail or local service hotline as following if error message appears.
TEL: http://consumer.huawei.com/en/contact-us/index.htm?tag=hotline
Mail: http://consumer.huawei.com/en/contact-us/index.htm?tag=email
Please submit your mobile model, SN, IMEI/MEID and error message in your e-mail. We also need to know that your phone is rooted, it can be out of the best working state and some of the functions may not be able to work normally. In addition, the system is vulnerable to be invaded by viruses once your phone is permitted to unlock. For the lack of testing, third party software may not be compatible with your phone. Unlocking will bring unexpected negative impacts and the device will be not normal, and cannot be restored, Huawei after-sales service office will not provide warranty service for your rooted phone, and you may bear the cost. So we strongly advise you to think twice.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you better. Please help us by taking a few minutes to tell us about the service that you have received so far. We appreciate your feedback and want to make sure we meet your expectations:

So ... why don't you follow the instructions in the email? Doesn't seem too hard to me and if you want to unlock your bootloader you'll just have to take a deep breath and get started :good:

Bootloader unlock - Huawei update - ACT NOW if you want to unlock!

As many of you will know Huawei pulled the unlock bootloader site. People have since had mixed results emailing them directly for the code. I emailed them for the unlock code yesterday (11th June 2018) and recived the reply copied below.
It certainly clears some things up. Interestingly the bootloader site is back up, albeit for a limited time! You lave 60 days from 24th May before they stop the service! https://emui.huawei.com/en/unlock_detail
When you go to unlock via the link they give you this warning: Screenshot https://photos.app.goo.gl/2kcJ2J9gXWpwE8XN9
Personally I think it is a bad move on Huawei's part . If you've not unlocked bootloader and intend to do so I'd jump it it ASAP!
Thank you for contacting Huawei Customer Care.
In response, we would like to inform you that starting May 25th and until July 25th (for 2 months) – the EMUI website will get back the bootloader code search function, for products released before May 25th.
Starting July 25th 2018, the Huawei official policy (as per HQ decision) is to not offer bootloader codes to customers anymore in order to avoid issues that may appear due to ROM flashing, and thus maintain the user’s experience.
The website can be reached here to obtain the bootloader code : https://emui.huawei.com/
We hope this information should prove useful. Should any questions arise, feel free to contact us again.
We remain at your disposal for any other inquiries that you may have.
Best regards,

Oh I'll crawl back under the rock from which I came haha
Does *applying* for the code alone void the warranty? OR can I apply and receive a code, but only void the warrently the moment I unlock it?
Aye there's a few threads about this, I've got one myself.
And I agree with everything in your OP mate.
They'll probably in the future start allowing unlocks.
No one wants a locked down android phone and when it hits their pocket they'll know that.
Unfortunately for p20 pro owners the damage is done and the lack of ROMs is testament to that.
Perhaps if they'd just released one damn variant without all the madness they've forced upon us there would be less problems flashing ROMs I mean look at Oneplus, they actually had twrp as a part of their official root method on their site for the longest time haha and here's Huawei putting their finger up to the people who've done more for Android than anyone.
Apparently we're only 1% of their customer base?
I promise you they'll lose more than 1% sales when the next flagship is released as there will be zero ROMs on here when it does and none of the enthusiastic users here to create a buzz about it.
Beginning of the end and the birth of another Apple.
They'll learn, just like HTC did, if a little late.
Hi everyone,
This is my first post here but I have been swimming through your posts since ever I think
I have a Chinese P20 Pro (CLT-AL01) and I have been trying to obtain the code from the EMUI webpage but no success. I entered all the info that demands but it doesn't give back the code. It shows a message like if you have any problem with the unlocking process just contact us. Maybe it's because the phone is Chinese? Happened to someone?
I contacted them via huawei email today, I will wait a few days and I'll see.
Btw I am trying to rebrand it to the EU version.

Thank you for contacting Huawei Support UK.
In response to your question, we inform that requesting the bootloader will not void the warranty, If you use it, then yes the phone will not have warranty anymore.
Should you require the code, please provide us with the following details:
Device model:
Serial number:
IMEI:
Product ID - dialing *#*#1357946#*#*. If not available, the invoice should be attached.
Reason for the unlock code:
We are looking forward for your reply and let us know if you have any other questions.

They are making excuses for not giving me the unlock. The worst thing is that I registered the huawei account on the phone yesterday, so in 14 days it will be July 24th and that day they will stop giving the code
Huh?
Can't you just log into the EMUI-Site from the first post and request your code there? It worked for my device a few weeks ago. It was quick and easy.
@walkerx Huawei Support Germany insists that even requesting the code voids the warranty. Of course this is bull and not even legal, but whatever floats their boat I guess.

I got that email response from their UK Helpdesk and told them the reasons for it was due to the lack of updates for the devices, incompatibility with certain apps and that they allow UK network operators to take over your devices even when purchased as sim-free, unlocked out of contract and unless they change their attitude towards the UK users and not reverse the unlocking bootloader decision then I will no longer purchase another Huawei device.
I may not unlock until after I swap phones to another model, but I always want that option and do not agree with it being locked down.
I'm also thinking of logging a UK petition online to prevent network operators in the UK from taking control off our devices and re-branding them and deciding whether or not and when we should get updates as these should be left to google or the manufacturers not the network provider. Also like with Apple devices wifi calling features should be standard and work for all networks not just limited and they should not require a specific firmware supplied by the operator for these to work - should be done by network setting only
I'm totally with you on this point. Fortunately, in Germany, most (not all!) providers don't force any unnecessary crap on an unlocked device and don't mess with the firmware. Some do, however.
I would also prefer to be able to unlock an reflash whenever I want to, or get rid of the forced on G-Apps, or fully use tasker to control the device (which you need to be rooted for some certain things).

I just got my code from Ministry of Solutions. The guy was really cool and had my code in ten mins.
At first I was very hesitant, but after the price-drop down to 20 USD(18 euros) I decided to bite the bullet.
The guy was really responsive and the process took about 10 minutes; I decided to pay through paypal.
My wife will be away for the weekend so I'm going to root the hell out out my Mate 20x.
I guess the only thing left to do now is to actually try the code.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Bootloader code reader

Hi folks,
So like many I am in the boat of wondering what Huawei's current future is and not wanting to wait around for any more bad news.
I have searched hi and low for a service that is actively providing bootloader unlock codes and have spoken to each and every one of them that I could find and all I have found are dead ends.
Logically speaking, these codes were being made/generated one of two ways.
1st - Someone who worked for Huawei was providing them and making money doing so.
2nd - There is indeed a way to generate them, with the right information.
The second seems to be the most logical answer truthfully, otherwise I could e-mail support and bribe someone lol. Anyways I refined my search to looking for bootloader code readers.
This came up - http s:// octoplusbox.com/en /products/huawei-tool/
( had to put weird spacing so that link would post, remove the spaces.)
Now if links are not allowed in here, then it is the Octoplus dongle that claims to be able to read bootloader codes for any Huawei device.
It claims to be able to
Supported Operations and Features*:
Read Info
Direct Unlock
Read Bootloader Code
Reset FRP
Reset Huawei ID
Factory Data Reset
Repair IMEI A/B
Repair Bluetooth MAC
Repair Wi-Fi MAC
Repair S/N
Repair Board S/N
Repair Vendor Code
Repair Country Code
I was wondering if anyone has encountered them? Has this worked? Its 90$ and truthfully if I knew it would work I would go for it, but I'm not dishing out that much money without knowing something.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I thought official service centers allowed the user to unlock their bootloader at their request.

I had not heard that! But I will reach out to one near me and try this out.
I think the closest one is a few hours away but maybe they can do it remotely?
Thanks for the tip!

I wouldn't be so optimistic about it. Maybe some offer it but i can bet that the vast majority of authorised service centers will refuse to help.

As an update!
I spoke with several authorized Huawei Service centers and they said no they cannot specifically because they were authorized by Huawei to repair phones and that they could not alter the phone in that way.
With that being said, I spoke to someone who was on the level about unlocking the bootloader, and he recommended I call a place locally.
Spoke with their software guy and he said yes they can do it. I am going in to try and will update once I find out if he is for real or not.

Ya, just found that out.
Found a local guy though who said he could. Am going to go find out!
Bootloader unlocking from Huawei will not happen again unless they get hit financially, which so long as people keep buying locked down devices simply won't happen..couple that with the bans in place and honestly I can't see it..
As with the bootloader code cracking. I'd say it's possible but you probably need a key which generates it, not sure if they'll ever be available..
The vast majority of p20 pro owners have either accepted it or moved on.
Shame as it's not a bad device.

Basically lol, or they are hoping that the ban will fall through and things will calm down.
I will update once I find out if this guy really can do it.
Other perk may be that if Huawei releases their own OS, they may unlock the bootloader, in theory it would require to.
Here is to hoping.
I am curious if that guy unlocked your bootloader.
So does the Octoplus Huawei Tool Dongle the OP has linked to actually give bootloader unlock code?

Well that was my question. I emailed them and have not heard back yet.
Something like that
It looks like the Octoplus Huawei Tool can't read bootloader code. I have checked https://octopusbox.com/eng/features/models but the CLT-series only support reset FRP lock. You can see this by hovering your mouse over (or tapping) the model.

I came to the same conclusion and pointed it out in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/how-to/funkyhuawei-bootloader-unlock-codes-t3936814
Hope people do not rush into buying this device before doing a bit of research...
Omg
Oh my god, such a suspense... Did you manage to get the unlock code ?
I am so desperate to find it. Hoped DC unlock client would manage to do so
but it failed pathetically.
Unfortunately for P20 Pro only "Reset FRP" feature is supported.

FunkyHuawei bootloader unlock service now available again

FunkyHuawei has now the Huawei bootloader unlock service available again.
Can it be trusted? Price is now 190 USD
funkyhuawei.club/buycodes
Not so much the question of whether it can be trusted, but who the heck is going to shell-out 190usd just to get code?!
The phone's not even worth that much these days

FunkyHuawei is very patient... 190$ for one code... idiot...
FunkyHuawei again. How many times do you people need to be taught that FH is a scummy website?
190$ just to be able to root it? You can clearly forget ROM development on the P20 Pro and not even that would makes the price reasonable
No point, the phone is hardly worth a free bootloader unlock as there is nothing you can do with it.

This.
Good news but Jesus fkn Christ, 190 ? What yen? That's absolutely taking the piss.
I'm one month away from contract ending. Going to give this to my mum, shell like the camera.
OnePlus 8 for me.
One thing to note though, if funky has unlock codes then others should too.
I have the direct number for someone who did have unlock codes so I'll reach out to him and see if he has any..prices are a lot lower..
There are still some decent ROMs for the P20 Pro, AOSIP, Lineage.
Which is more than enough for most people..
No idea what this would mean if you went to EMUI 10 though..
The chap I have seen says they haven't got codes so I would not recommend paying anything
He has said that they have had a lot of luck with unlocking the bootloader via a tool.
Here's the number
Announcements in the whatsapp group
Could be cynical - but who is this FunkyHuawei group run by - perhaps Huawei themselves?
@dladz is that person offering bootloader unlocks currently? Are you saying they are the ones with the tool or FunkyHuawei?

Honestly besides FF you would have to go back to Funky, tbh if they've left your phone in a state where it won't update then they need to advise at the least.
