Newbie here.
Background: I have my Samsung Note 10.1 GT-N8000 since 2012, but I haven't touched it for 2+ years because it was still on Android 4.1. (Last week Netflix announced that we could watch it offline with Android 4.4 up, so I eventually had the courage to do sth about my 10.1)
My problems:
I was using TWRP 2.4, flashed CM13 ROM and Gapps pico. It went well except all Google apps weren't installed properly:
- If I just flashed the CM13 ROM without Gapps, upon reboot it kept popping "Unfortunately Google Play etc stopped"
- If I flashed both, it was the same, plus all Google apps were labelled "com.Android" instead.
I searched for and tried all possible solutions, and in one old threat someone suggested TWRP version matters too. So I updated it to TWRP 2.8 (also tried 3.0). Now, I have a different set of problems. I can't flash in TWRP 2.8 the same ROM that I could flash with TWRP 2.4, and it keeps giving the "error executing updater binary in zip" I've tried it million times (literally fighting it for the past 18 hours...)
I've tried the followings: wiping system/ cache before flashing new ROM, starting the entire process, rooting it again etc.
Could anyone kindly chip in? Any suggestions are appreciated!!!
Try Philz Recovery .
Nonono...don't try Philz recovery. Use the recovery explicitly stated in the CM13 instructions (TWRP 2.8.7.0) or newer (I'm using 3.0.2.0). Do not use any recovery that the instructions say is not supported, which is everything else.

Given this and the apparent lack of following CM13 installation instructions (you didn't wipe everything), I'd suggest starting over with downloading/flashing the TWRP version on the CM13 downloads page and re-downloading CM13 and and Open GApps check MD5s. Maybe a standard Open GApps install would be a good idea; you can always uninstall what you don't want.
Not meaning to sound harsh but preferable to spending another 18 hours in Einstellung. (pun not intended)

I've been updating Cyanogenmod with the Nightlies. Since the March updates, I've not been able to install gapps, even with the newest version. I've Googled on this, and I've tried everything I could find. I've made sure I had the latest version of gapps, I've wiped the cache and the Dalvik cache, and I've mounted the system partition before installing the zip. I've even done a factory reset. At one point, I was so far gone with all the different things I was trying that I had to revert back to a stock setup.
When I install the gapps zip file in Clockworkmod, everything looks fine. No errors or anything. It goes through the install process, and it completes, but when I reboot, I have no Google Apps installed.
I have a 4g Xoom (Verizon).
The different CWM versions I've had this issue with have been:
cm-10.1-20130309-NIGHTLY-stingray.zip
cm-10.1-20130311-NIGHTLY-stingray.zip
cm-10.1-20130315-NIGHTLY-stingray.zip
The latest gapps version I've been trying to install is:
gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
Thank you.
I have xoom wifi. the version of gapps I have is:
gapps-unified-jb-20130220-signed.zip
it should be somewhere in the portal as that's where I downloaded from. see it may work for you too.

Not sure if this is an option for you, but have you tried running gapps-jb-20130105-EOS-XOOM-ONLY.zip?

I did try this, just for the sake of trying something as I am having the same issues as the OP.
I flashed the latest nightly cm-10.1-20130330-NIGHTLY-stingray.zip on my Xoom and then tried the EOS version of GApps. It just bootlooped numerous times. I flashed the ROM, then flashed GApps. I cleared cache/data/dalvik with no luck, it just brought me back to recovery.
Any ideas? I know it is a nightly, so I am not too worried about it. I am just playing around.
You should try the new unified gapps for Cm, the link is listed in the OP of the cm 10.1 thread. Also, if you are using cwm recovery, try twrp. Your recovery could be causing issues
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Thanks! I will give that a try when I get home. Went straight to the CyanogenMod site to get GApps so I missed that.
Well, I made a very simple mistake. I only read the directions partially, assuming everything would work like flashing my phone or Nexus 7. I wiped data, wiped dalvik, installed the ROM and then installed GApps. I booted my Xoom and of coarse, even with the unified version of GApps, it still did not work.
I repeated the process but did not install GApps. I let the device boot and then went back in to recovery. I flashed GApps and rebooted and it works perfectly. I did not try another version of GApps this time.
Lesson learned.

Download Google appstore zip file by itself.. After flashing gapps, flash the appstore by itself as well.. Worked for me
Latest Nightly issue Camera+Gallery
I'm using the 20130609 nightly in my Everest, but re-flashing the Unified Apps from CM 10.1 official thread doesn't work. On the 20130601 nightly it works like a charm!.
Any help would be appreciated.
P.s: As an advice, I tried formatting system partition in CWM, reinstall nightly and gapps. All works fine now!
Hi,
I rooted my OPO a few days ago and installed the unofficial CM12 Lollipop based build using TWRP and everything worked just fine.
Now a few hours ago I downloaded OnePlus' official Lollipop ROM and flashed the recovery after wiping data, cache and dalvik cache. Having done so and booted the phone I went back to recovery to flash Gapps only to realize TWRP wasn't available anymore. The screen showed android's recovery interface with touch disabled. I attempted to install Gapps after copying that to the phone's memory but failed to do so.
When I scroll down using the volume rocker and attempt to "apply update from sdcard" I get an error message saying:
"E:error opening /data/media/0: Permission denied
-- No package file selected. "
Now without Gapps I do not have access to Google Play Services, sync, backup of contacts or even the Play Store.
I tried rooting the phone again, flashing TWRP etc. But no matter how many times I try the phone just won't show TWRP in recovery
So now I'm stuck with a phone without any Gapps and no Play Store from which to download even the most basic apps. APKs can't be installed either because there's no app to open them.
Can anyone help me please?
What Official Lolipop ROM ? Maybe ask in the appropriate ROM thread ?

The one OP posted on their site:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/rom-official-5-0-android-lollipop-alpha.223252/
To the OP, reflash TWRP and then flash the GApps again
Are you able to access the phone through ADB or FASTBOOT?

You'll have to install TWRP again using fastboot.
I did the same as you. I used one of the toolkits it can be done quite easily just take your time. You can actually Google Play store apk in the browser and install it.
I'd just open developer options enable debugging and plug the phone in your PC and allow drivers to install.
Then download one of the toolkits and install TWRP your bootloader should still be unlocked.
Once I found the toolkit the other night and installed it I was up and running in minutes.
Solved
Thank you all for the swift replies. I tried flashing TWRP multiple times but couldn't get it done. Then I chanced upon this link in another thread.

It's a zip file from OnePlus which when extracted will give you drivers (I didn't need them) and a ReadMe file that explains how to get the OPO back to just the way it was when you unboxed it. It's incredibly simple and hardly takes any time. After that I was able to easily flash TWRP and root the phone.

Well done.
I know you will note the ROM you flashed is an Alpha ROM. So though 'official', is still very new, as the OP advised.
Fresh ROMs can be a lot of fun to bug hunt, and a lot of time to work through, until the components are ripe, when they have heightened depth, balance, finesse, intensity and end, where the ROM has become pure, vibrant, opulent and mature; a ROM that is seamless.
The dream.

Did you unmount system before installing?
Save time and flash to stock CM11S
For anybody that is stuck in this situation as I was too. Just load the stock CM11S and perform this through fastboot.
Example >fastboot update cm-11.0-XNPH44S-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip
I need to send my Nexus 6 in for a warranty replacement so I need to run my GS3 for a few days. It's been a while since I've used my GS3 so I wanted to get it all up-to-date first. I went and downloaded the latest nightly of CM12.1 and the "stock" TK Gapps.
I did a clean flash (factory reset, format system, flash ROM, flash Gapps) and when it boots up I get constant "______ has stopped" messages from all the google stuff. After I press "OK" as fast as I can for a minute I can get to the home screen, where I can see that all of the google app icons just show the little android guy (indicating it's not installed) and when I select any of them it tells me that the app is not installed.
I tried clearing cache and dalvik and that didn't work. I tried re-flashing from scratch and that didn't work. I tried the pico TK Gapps and that didn't work. I tried the stock and pico Open Gapps and that didn't work. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but no matter what I try the result is always the same.
One time, just as a sanity check, I flashed just the ROM and no Gapps and that worked fine. Not sure what that tells me but just something to note.
Please help.
I was also forced to do a clean flash of CM 12.1 + gapps recently. This gapps file worked for me: highonandroid.com/download-android-5-1-lollipop-gapps/ (I can't post a link since I'm new).
One issue: apparently it requires flashing with a recent version of TWRP recovery. Doing it with CWN or a old TWRP will return an error. Hope this helps.
Hello.
Recently I returned my HTC Sensation XE arranged, and seeing that it had no guarantee I decided to root it. After two days in which I almost lost the mobile after having bricked, I finally managed to unlock the bootloader (although I'm still S-ON), install the latest version of 4ext Recovery Touch and give root permissions.
What happens is that looking for an Android Lollipop ROM I saw there was only one type of ROMs developed by Ivanich, and others called UnoROMs but at the end also belonged to Ivanich. Both unofficial version of CyanogenMod 12.1.
Overall, I started to download and install CM12.1 ROM with GApps and entering in recovery, but nothing was installed. I deleted cache, dalvik, data and reset to factory, but all attempts were in vain. Or almost.
When I realized that something was wrong, I looked in the ZIP of the ROM, I entered in the "/system" folder and presto!: no sign of apps, data, or other things that I think should be to make it work, only was the 'build.prop'.
Finally I gave up and tried to install Ivanich's CM11 with the corresponding GApps, and everything was great (although WIFI, that is unusable). It turns out that this ROM itself had all the appropriate files in the '/system' folder.
I thought then that Ivanich's CM12.1 ROM would be an update of his CM11 ROM and I tried to install it with CM11 as the system at that time, and I got it, but it starts out a sign saying that I had no data on the phone and to make it work I need to reset to factory. I did it and nothing happened. The recovery remained caught in the process of reseting to factory. And so over and over again. At the end I reinstalled CM11 and tried to repeat the installation process of CM12 this time making an erased of dalvik, data, cache and factory reset (which I not did at the previous), but it didn't installed, and 5.1 GApps either. As usual.
Currently I have CM11 by Ivanich (KitKat 4.4.4) with GApps, but I can't use the phone because WIFI practically doesn't work. There is a ZIP to fix WIFI that I flashed and that was fine, but it didn't fix anything.
Please can someone explain to me why I can't install CM12.1 and 5.1 GApps and why this ROM has the '/system' folder empty. There are people that have been able to install this ROM, and I can't understand how they have succeeded.
Thanks to all who help me in advance.
I unlocked my bootloader, installed the latest version of TWRP (3.3.1.0 iirc) and downloaded some Android 10 ROMs to try them out.
O tried AOSP Extender Superior OS and LineageOS 17, ALL Android 10 based, and they ALL installed Fine. The problem is that the recommended Gapps for these ROMS, WeebGapps, fails and doesnt flash.
So i tried the OpenGapps project, and It failed after saying i didnt have enougth space in the system partition, so i deleted the gapps-sizes.txt inside the zip and It finally flashes, but now the phone gets stuck at booting and never actually starts.
Has anybody experienced theses problems and maybe could give me some advice on How to get Gapps working for any of those New Android 10 ROMs?

Friend, you must first flash the ROM, then the Magisk and wipe dalvik cache. Restart, you already open the Magisk and from there you install the Magisk WebGapps. You restart and ready, the bad thing about this ROM is that it fails MMS, I still can't get a solution. regards

Thank you. I was able to flash the gapps doing that. I'm using the aosp extended rom because superior os wasn't showing the navigation buttons, even when I enabled them in the rom options.
Only thing I noticed so far is that I don't have mobile data working (WiFi is working ok)
Should I flash anything else to make mobile data working?
