Dear XDA members,
MediaTek is a leading manufacturer when it comes to mobile processors just like Qualcomm. They are responsible for bringing quad core CPU's like the MTK6589 among others. We have been waiting for a very long time for MediaTek to release their Kernel Sources so that we may tweak, mod and further development of the roms in our devices. The sources will allow us to port custom roms and kernels like Cyanogen ,Paranoid , AOSP, MIUI and AOKP among many others. This will be a major game changer for this processor as they prepare to launch the 8-core MTK processor.
My request to all those who see this(developer or not) is to take a second to vote, spread the word on any other forum and maybe this time they will hear us. Support our cause

Porting Android KitKat 4.4.2 [MTK6582] to another [MTK6582]

Lenovo has releashed Android Kitkat 4.4.2 for S650 which they to many devices with ecactly the same specs (MT6582, dual sim, qhd resolution) more than 20 devices with the same specs... devs can port this rom to many devices.
There is also an CWM flashable rom here for Lenovo S650 with Android Kitkat. But at comments you can see that actually you have to flash it with TWRP

As you can see these two phones have almost identical specs, what needs to be done to port Kitkat from valecia to S208 i think both use 3.4 kernel too?

I'm also highly interested in this, as i own a X9S myself. It would be great if anyone could give hints on how to port ROMs for this chipset.

Glad we got Aosp base which is CM12/CM12.1 And Luckily I Found a 32bit Arm Version ARMV7 Of Goophone IOS Roms Which based on android phones
Android Version of rom is 5.1 and OUR CM IS Android 5.1 Too So I Came here asking for backup in development of this rom and port of it

Wow Did not expect this and well am still trying although that adb does not detect my phone i want someone to logcat me with details after installing my port which i will provide after some hours or maybe 1 day cause it gets stuck over boot screen

i need help to know what makes the rom bootloop although all porting i done is 100% correct

But the reason for bootloop
Maybe, it is the The Bootloader...
You need to revert back to the old bootloader if u want to use 4.4.2 based roms...
The bootloader was updated to 5.o just before the lollipop update...

I think this is a Kitkat Bootloader
Needs to be installed through odin

Dude why don't you wait a bit till you get those files on MM or LP and base the ROM on DeadMan's CM13... The older CMs are really laggy, with no camera, and Yamaha driver issues, huge battery drainage also... I'd recommend you not to work on those, where as the CM13 is almost bug free, at least no noticeable bugs, And the devs are great, they could help you a bit too if we ask them nicely enough... And both the ways I'd love to test your Roms... May it be KK or MM

am still doing the big tests to port over a MTK Chipset Rom To Exynos both are Arm V7a
and installation tutorial will be there
and am trying on both bases Kitkat and lollipop cause both at least have AOSP CM Bases
And Boot Loader of LP Works for Other kitkat Roms But Will Do Still Try and update you guys

Would it be possible to put the Vulkan API in Custom ROMs with Android Nougat on Vibe K5? I know that his GPU supports Vulkan and Android Nougat brings native support. However, no Custom ROM has ever run Vulkan on it.
Custom ROM for the Moto G4 Plus of the same Vibe K5 GPU running the Vulkan. So, you developers could do this great favor for us? You've helped us a lot, but it would be cool to implement the performance.

Request For custom ROM

Can anyone make a custom ROM for -Lyf water 1 ?
Lyf water 1 running with android 5.1.1 with 2GB of RAM.

If you want someone to make a ROM for that device then you will have to buy another device like yours and donate it to a developer so he can build the ROM, developers can't build ROMs for devices unless they have the device on hand. If they don't have the device they can't build ROMs for it. If a developer already on owned that device then there would already be ROMs for it, since there are no ROMs for your device then that means no developers have it.
If you can't donate a device to a developer to build a ROM for it then you'll have to learn to do it yourself.

Do some Google searching to see if the stock source code is available for your specific device model number, if it is not available to the public, ROMs can not be built for the device.

This device is 3 years old, if there isn't a ROM by now then obviously no developers own this device, otherwise, they would have already built the ROM.

You won't find anyone to do it for you unless you buy another device like yours and donate it to someone that is willing to build it for you, they can't build a ROM without having the device on hand to test what they build before releasing it.
You will probably get a ROM sooner if you learn to do it yourself, otherwise, you will probably never get a ROM.

So, the two of you are basically saying that you don't really want to learn anything.
You are saying that you would rather have someone else that does know how to build a ROM to take the time, time that they probably can't afford to lose, out of their day and devote that time to building a ROM for your convenience and for a device that they probably don't even own?
Read my post above, none of the developers that know how to build ROMs have this device. If they did, there would already be ROMs for your device. Developers do not build for devices that they do not own or do not have in their own personal possession.
This means, if you want a developer to build a ROM for this device model number, you will have to go buy another one of these devices then find a developer that is willing to build a ROM for you and then donate that extra device to the developer so they can build a working ROM for that device. They will need the extra device because they will need the device in their own hands to test the ROM as it is being built so they can work out the bugs and issues to get a stable ROM.
If you cannot afford to buy an extra device and send that device to a developer or if you just refuse to donate a device to a developer, then you need to get to work doing your own research on how to build ROMs so you can learn how to do it yourself. Otherwise, be prepared to never have a ROM for your device.
