Tried to flash via Odin and now my phone is stuck in a Stock Recovery loop - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Was being kinda dumb and tried to flash the stock 930U on a new Samsung S7 because I lost LTE after doing a carrier OTA update but I didn't root, I didn't enable debugging or install a custom recovery, no backups (yeah yeah rub it in.) -- But now I'm stuck in a stock recovery loop with the error "E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)"
I think I just ****ed it up, but is there anything I can do from here? Picture attached.

Power it off. Go back into download mode (POWER, HOME, VOLUME DOWN) and flash the latest T-Mobile firmware. I think it's PK1. You can probably find it here. If not sammobile.com definitely has it.
Edit: I actually am in the same boat as you but I'm not on T-Mobile yet. I'm switching over today. I'm on the U firmware but what I did was flash the T-mobile CP file in Odin. The CP file has the modem. So I'm hoping that with the correct APN settings and the T-Mobile modem I'll have VolTe. However, I'll have to wait and see until this evening when I actually have T-Mobile.
Also, IMO the "U" firmware wasn't as stripped down as I hoped for. It still had plenty of dumb apps I don't care about. Having said that if there are a lot of T-mobile features I can't use on the U firmware I'm just going to flash the T-Mobile firmware.

Can't flash with ODIN, can't mount firmware or modem

Sprint Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P)
So, this all started with me trying to downgrade from lollipop to kitkat using ODIN.
ODIN shows:
FAIL! (Auth)
My phone says:
SW REV CHECK FAIL: [aboot] fused 3 > binary 1
After trying a bunch of things, I went into recovery mode/ and formatted everything, including firmware/modem.
Now, II was able to get a ROM running by installing through sideload, but it says invalid sim. This is the factory sim that came with my phone.
I've already tried another working sprint sim, and same result. So I know its not the card.
Also, when II go into recovery/mount and unmount/ it shows firmware and modem unmounted. When I try to mount them, it gives an error.
I thought to flashfirmware, but Odin fails every time.
Help!

My guess your phone firmware is od3 or newer. Since this is probably true it means you cannot downgrade to kit kat or any firmware older then the current one. I would suggest downloading the latest firmware which OK4 or something to that affect. It was release like maybe a week ago or so. Odin that which shouldn't fail. That should get you able to get her running. I am not sure why you'd want go back to running Kit Kat but you'd want to root the phone or re-root. Then flash a KK ROM only flash. Which would probably have to be a custom one. That might work.

Thanks for responding!
I wanted to downgrade to try an unlock method that requires 4.4.2 or earlier. But know I just want my phone back in proper order.
I found out I was using OA6. Three versions have come out since. I am downloading the latest one now (OG1). I'll let you know if it works.
You were right, a new version came out on 12/2 (OK4). I downloaded it and it flashed over! No errors!
But, it is still is not reading the sim. I can only get 3G connectivity. No LTE. I still cannot mount the firmware or modem in philz touch recovery.
Any ideas?

theres a dialer code that will reset the entire modem and all data. you may have to reactivate in the settings menu after. (takes 10 secs to reactivate as long as you are not roaming)
if all else fails. go to phone dialer type in ##SCRTN# it will reset your entire data profile. good luck

You did download the drivers for odin? Probably did but I'm just trying to cover everything. When trying to update firmware:
Make sure you get a good download.
Unzip your file and move the Tar file to your desktop.
Make sure debugging is on on your device.
Dnt use a cheap usb cord
Fire up odin
Power your device down completely. Even try a battery pull then do the 3 button combo. Power/vol down/home button all at the same time to get into download mode
Plug in your device and a com number should appear in the upper left indication box.

[UNLOCKED] SM-G935T / T-Mobile

Hi community,
A question for many of us in regards to 'unlocking' or "how to unlock" from our carriers, I have done a very simple and silly way to unlock my phone from T-Mobile.
I am currently under SM-G935U Firmware (4API3), coming from SM-G935T's 4APIA Firmware.
Follow these simple steps in order to unlock from your carrier.
***NOTE: THIS METHOD ONLY WORKS IN STOCK FIRMWARES. YOUR DEVICE WILL BREAK IF YOU TRY TO INSTALL UNDER A CUSTOM ROM***
1.- If you have previously installed a custom ROM (Echoe, Tekv2), say bye bye for now. Using Odin latest version (3.12.3), flash Stock Firmware '4APIA'. After set up enable developer options and USB Debugging.
2.- Download SM-G935U's official firmware from SamMobile or Samsung-Firmwares (Make sure you download the TMO region firmware)
3.- Create a new folder on your desktop, copy and paste BL & AP files from the SM-G935U firmware you just downloaded. From the SM-G935T stock firmware you downloaded, copy and paste CP & CSC_HOME files.
*Basically you will have BL/AP from G935U and CP/CSC_HOME from G935T*
4.- Flash these files through ODIN, but WARNING: After flashing your phone will reboot. Go into recovery mode and wipe cache/data + wipe data.
5,- You will get to see a dm-verityverification failed, no mount blah blah blah. Just ignore it. After deleting cache and data reboot again into download mode...BUT THIS TIME ONLY FLASH CP file from G935T while the CSC_HOME you will flash now will be the official G935U file.
6.- After reboot, done.
I was able to install Google Voice
Sounds promising going to try this when I get home, was having all those issues with dm-verity.
Have you tried just wiping the cache and not wiping data with success? (Dirty flashing)
Or we all starting from scratch?
since root with eng kernel makes my phone burn up and kills my battery, even with all the remedies. The g935u is an option I would love to play with.
But how did you unlock the sim? You have the unlocked versions firmware so less bloat and no carrier garbage but the phone itself would appear to still be locked to TMO. Splain.
Hi there. This firmware is so much better than the stock TMO firmware, everything works excellent. I used stock tmo firmware first APIA, next tmo G935U API3 next. I tried your way first on a S7 Edge with bad IMEI and it wasn't working. I used another S7 Edge but this time I flash all the G935U API3 firmware, it work flawlessly with one simple try. Just put AP/BL/CP/CSC and flash with the latest Odin, you wouldn't have problems. My 2 other TMO S7 Edge are on stock G935U and saying official.
Hey can make a video like you did please.

Yes indeed it is. G935U feels great, faster response, no lag at all and for some reason I get 4G LTE even with Roaming (Mexico) I am still with T-Mobile...were you able to UNLOCK the SIM?

Hey bori,
Every time I flash a custom ROM or even going back to stock, I always wipe cache/data. It is just the way I like to do things on my phone, not keeping any traces from previous ROM/FIRMWARE.
Make sure you download the official Firmware from SamMobile or Samsung-Firmware.
I heard updato is a fast download Firmware site.

Well i tried last night but ended up with the same results. Goes perfect in Odin. But boots straight into recovery even though I wiped everything and reflashed cp and home csc from g935t files.
For the TMO and other SM-G935 firmware, check out THEANDROIDSOUL.COM . They have about 90% of all firmware.

I'm not a big fan of stock roms, custom is the way but this TMO G935U FIRMWARE IS THE ****TTT !!!.
The last time I used a stock Rom was from HTC EVO 4G, after that was the Sprint S2 and I never USED ANY PHONES WITHOUT A CUSTOM ROM TILL NOW.
This TMO G935U FIRMWARE, I did a ANTUTU BENCHMARK LAST NIGHT after flashing the firmware. Mennn! The score was higher than the note 7 N9300 by 4000 points, I couldn't believe it. I did a second test samething. The battery performance is excellent.
All mine said was applied multi csc now I get lte+
Nah I didn't try to unlock it yet, I have to get an AT&T sim card or simple mobile card and see if it ask for codes. If that works that will be great for everyone ?.
Which U firmware are you guys flashing and what would be the differences between them? I'm currently on the T-Mobile U firmware.
tried this... asks code also ... but anycode can give message "network successfull".
BUT its not unlocked... still "invalid sim card inserted error" is there.
So this method works or not? I want to know before I take the plunge. Also Dm verity error doesn't sound good either. I had a note edge with that error and it was a major headache.

i was able to flash g935u firmware totally.. but didnt work for me.
Hi all. As far as I can see, the U firmware unlocked the phone. I inserted a SIMPLE MOBILE CARD into my G935T running G935U firmware, the phone boot into like recovery mod but the screen go BLUE and it configures SIM UNLOCKED SYSTEM, then it reboot and walla the phone have service on SIMPLE MOBILE NETWORK. I was very SURPRISED it works because the phone is locked to T-Mobile and only the DEVICE APP to unlock it. So at this point I'm only using the G935U firmware on my G935T, no more T-Mobile firmware bull crap. Next I'll get an AT&T SIM card and try that for 30 days.

What steps did you take to get this to work?
No matter what I do I cannot get my phone to go into the Samsung sim unlock screen after flashing in various combinations, including following the OP exactly

I know this is a late response but it's good to know. SimpleMobile has been running under T-Mobile Network, whether your T-Mobile Phone is locked or unlocked it will work when a SimpleMobile Sim is inserted.
network unlock code????

how do I copy stock image/rom s7(snapdragon)

I am buying a new cricket wireless galaxy s7(snapdragon) and to fix the one I messed up. I want to know how do I copy the stock image/rom from the new s7 and put it on the old s7. Obviously they are both snapdragon models and they are NOT ROOTED. My old s7 just reboots and reboots I can get to recovery mode and the download mode. It only boots up to the samsung galaxy s7 screen before it reboots again and again etc. the reason is because I tried to root it with the tutorial on the unlockr's site the name of the article is "how to root the samsung s7 & s7 edge (all snapdragon versions) (video)" rooting the snapdragon s7 which broke my phone so all it does is reboot. Any help with backing up my new s7(snapdragon) and uploading the stock rom/image to the old s7(snapdragon) would be greatly appreciated.
Did you try downloading an image of a stock rom from updato.com or samfirmware etc.?
If not, download it, aswell as ODIN 3.12.3 and do a complete reflash (BL,AP,CSC,CP with re-partition checked, it includes a loss of data though).
You could try AP, BL and CP only and don't tag repartition, which won't wipe your device, if you are interested in your data. If you extracted your data, a full install mentioned above is recommended though. Just to get back to a clean image and anything your root might've messed up.
It should revive your old device and you probably don't need to buy a new one. Especially if i read correctly, just for extracting a stock image, which can be found on the internet already.
Given that you might already have triggered Knox, which will probably void any warranty from Samsung, you could try re rooting or leave it stock, which should be running good on Snapdragon still.
For other G930AZ Cricket Users I went through the samething. I used odin to flash the Engboot and then the phone just kept rebooting. To fix it I did the following.
The first step is to get the G930AZ stock image using samsung switch Here.
NOTE: Using the samsung switch Emergency Software Recovery to return to stock did not work for me, but I was able to get the stock firmware from it.
The model number is SM-G930AZ.
To get the serial number (took me forever to figure this out) go to the download mode on your phone (hold the power, volume down, and home buttons) and press the home button. The S/N is the serial number
After getting the firmware flash ONLY the BL, CS, and CSC (leave out AP) using this version of odin
http://www.mediafire.com/file/2t2sjqxtogbkafk/odin_3.12.3.rar
If that successfully flashes then things are looking good. The phone will restart and probably still boot loop but thats ok. Go back into Download mode but this time Flash the BL, AP ,CS ,CSC (Include the AP). IT should flash successfully and everything should be back to normal after that.
I was able to repeat this process twice with my G930AZ cricket phone so hopefully it works.

After buying a phone on ebay and having non AT&T oem firmware, I searched all over and finally found it. Hopefully this helps people, as I could not find it on here anywhere.

Flash at your own risk. I flashed via Odin and have a perfectly running S7 active. Make sure you do the proper upgrades first. I'm no firmware expert by any means.
Sorry, your cloud file is missing BL file. Can you re upload please
I did not flash the BL. I didn't get it as I didn't need it.
I flashed the AP and modem first. After a few days of not liking the feel, I flashed the CSC to get my normal AT&T layout and apps back.
what the hell... when did this phone ever have a legit NON ATT firmwire verison?
this is boatloader 4 isn't it... meaning we can't flash down?
will someone tell me how this preforms?
Flashed it to my phone and all it does is reboot from the s7 active logo. Also i am unable to get into recovery mode, but my phone was doing this all before.

Flashed U firmware to a U1 but no Carrier apps

I have a sm-g715u1 with latest android 11 firmware and flashed the verizon G715USQU7BUC1. Both are latest ota firmware.
Odin (3.141) showed a succesful flash with all 5 bl,ap, cp,csc and userdata put in. The csc file was non home. However, I dont see any verizon apps installed. There were changes and it does show the U version software installed but no verizon apps. I saw no errors in odin and flashed it twice but no change. I did a factory reset from phone app before flashing a second time.
Not sure what i did wrong . I left the SD card in but dont think that matters.
It has verizon splash screen on startup but thats it. The phone is functional but no different than U1
Is this version (3.14.1) of Odin ok for U1 to U flashing?
Should i have factory reset before flashing? Flash from recovery and not the phone software?
Any ideas will be appreciated.

I see that i can no longer access special menus via the dial pad like I did before the flash. Its like a partial install of the userdata file or something.
So things i noticed after the vzw flash: I didnt get the full verizon bloatware and lost some of the samsung unbranded advantages. I have the vzw 4G icon and Hd voice icon during calls and had the video call option. Video calling didnt work and had to call vzw tec support to get it turned on. A ticket was opened to have it done and its now working fine. Before the flash i was told it couldnt be done so flashing to vzw must have helped here. One thing i have noticed is reception in fringe areas after flash in terrible by comparison. It now enters extended network or no signal at all where before it stayed on lte even with 1 bar and could text and call. This must be a PRL difference or something. The unlocked, unbranded version is way way better for fringe areas. In town i noticed no difference.
At this point i could try to enter recovery and wipe then direct to flash the vzw firmware again to see if i get all the bloatware but to be honest the poor signal and tower handoff with the vzw firmware has convinced me that the U1 firmware is better for me overall even if i lose the video calling after switching back.
At least with the U1 version its a little easier to experiment to see what works best.
