G920f reflash without wipe - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I wanna get back in pokemon go and my only viable option seems to be reflashing stock as unrooting don't work.
I'm running rooted stock mm with twrp and supersu and wanna reflash stock mm but without wiping my apps/data.
Can this be done? Do I use odin/flashfire/flashify/something else?
Plz help

Hi
You would have to use odin to reflash and you would loose twrp aswell as root if you go to sammobile.com and look for your device you can flash it clean
REMEBER TO BACKUP MEDIA EVERYTHING WILL GO

Ive read numerous guides now stating that flashing stock image via odin will not wipe anything. Is this true?
I'm gonna reflash same version of tw to try to clean out root issues with PoGo but i wanna keep user data...

Nexus S 4G Root issues?

I've been playing around with a Nexus S 4G that I have lying around and never used, and I've ran into a few problems, but you've all been helpful. I rooted all my old EVO 4G's without any problem, but the other day I rooted my NS4G using a one click/simple root and downloaded ClockWorkMod etc. But now for some reason It seems like I've almost lost my root? Is that possible? I still have the little unlocked symbol when booting up.
I've searched this forum and Google and haven't found anything, which could possibly be because I don't know what to look for. I've never had this happen :/
Currently running the stock 2.3.7
Nobody? I just need a little help.
Did you flash a superuser.zip after you installed clockworkmod?

Yes, it did. Thank you!
Now I just need to re figure out how to backup my stock rom on rom manager. I need to do that if I'm going to flash a custom rom onto my NS4G correct? I've never actually gone that far with my phones lol.

Okay lol hold on so just go make sure you
1. Unlocked the bootloader right?
2. Flashed a custom recovery (clockworkmod)?
3. Flashed superuser for root access?
4. Now you have a stock rooted ROM?
If you have/did all that then yeah you could backup your stock rooted ROM, you don't need to back it up but its helpful just incase you mess something you could always restore it to start all over
And you could backup any ROM you install incase you didn't know, just remember when you install different ROMS make sure to do a proper full wipe which includes data/factory reset/wiping DALVIK cache, and formatting system and boot in the "mount" option in CWM. And now I think your good lol

Unlocked Bootloader? If I boot in fastboot it says Unlocked. Is this what you mean?
I have ClockWorkMod, but I haven't done anything with it.
I have superuser from the root
and I was working with a stock ROM the whole time....
I think I'm ok lol
So I'll back up my ROM, and flash a Nightly CM9? And back that up as well? Just perform a factory data reset before doing so, right?

Yeah if it says unlocked your good to go. The super user.zip you first flashed won't be needed once you flash different ROMS, it was only needed for stock because you didn't install a ROM you just unlocked the boot loader and super user just gave you root access that didn't come with stock.
Yeah backup your stock ROM JUST in case you encounter a boot loop so you can just restore and start over, you don't need to back up CM9 that's completely your choice if you want . Its convenient though if you like CM9 but still like to flash other ROMS that way you can just go back if you miss CM9 without doing the whole setup process.
And a full wipe is
Data/factory reset
Then wipe dalvik under "advanced"
Then wipe system and boot under the "mount" option in CWM

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post links to videos or not. But I'm in love with some of the features this guy has on his NS4G
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKdyAm3CgHc
He said it was a nightly etc.
The hidden status bar and bottom menu hidden is amazing. I also like the inverted G-Mail and Facebook. Is this all separate from the Nightly ROM?

Root stock tmobile us rom.

Is it possible to root it? I have unlocked the bootloader already. It's my understanding that falshing a custom recovery wipes my phone but I see no stock roms available. How can I root it with out wiping and if it must wipe, how do I back up my rom?

i dont think you'll wipe your phone with a custom recovery..i have rooted mine without wiping data..you can back up your phone using the custom recover first..
Follow the steps in the dev section in the unroot thread
you can use MyBackUp Pro before you root. But you can't keep all thru this process. Although not wiped, I would still bu sdcard before rooting.
flashing a recovery will not wipe phone--i recommend twrp
if easier to follow thread to unroot and flash cwr. do that. you can always flash twrp later
do a lot reading on all this first, so you have an idea of what/why of flashing steps

[Q] Will flashing through Odin wipe all of my data?

I've accidentally thrown my Note 3 into a bootloop and need to reflash the stock firmware. Will doing this wipe all of my data? If so, is there any method of preventing that? I really don't want to lose any data. I think I'm already running the stock firmware, unless Kingo replaces it automatically, so I'm flashing the same firmware, I think.
If you flash stock firmware thru Odin.... of course you will lose all of your data

I tried it, and didn't lose any data. Thanks anyway.

Any way to update XtreStoLite without wiping? (getting bootloop if I don't)

Hi
I tried to dirty flash XtreStoLite 2.2 from 2.0, but I got a bootloop, so restored to 2.0.
But I got so many things on my phone that it takes an hour or two to set up, so is there any way to update without doing a factory reset every time an upgrade is available?
Thanks in advance
Via recovery try to backup rom. And later in the new rom try to restore only data
Flash this via odin.

Mind if I ask why?

Accidentaly wiped /system

thus I don't have OS anymore, so I can't boot into download mode.
I have TWRP, I think the only thing I can do is just get stock .zip ROM. But I can't find it for my G930F, I downloaded some but they are all prepared for odin, not for recovery.
Could please anyone give me a download link for a flashable stock rom?
Or any other ideas?
Thanks
You had TWRP but didn't make a backup?
Technically it doesn't have to be a stock ROM, you could just flash a custom ROM and once you've got system back then you can flash back to stock with Odin.

So I do have LinkeageOS 16 installed now, but every restart, I can't mount /data in TWRP, I have to wipe it over and over. Why is that?
Another thing is that phone doesnt detect my SIM card (on stock recovery it did detect).
iirc that's something to do with encryption, but I've never experienced it so can't be sure.
Can you tried a stock Odin flash since installing Lineage?
Are you using the most recent TWRP?

I flashed newest stock ROM and updated twrp and everything seems to be working now
Weird, I didn't have to reflash LOS.
But yeah, I will write here if the problem still persists later.
