Newb Question re: Rooting - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi All,
Apologies for the dumb question.
Just got a brand new unlocked Exynos s7 edge. My main concern is bloatware.
Is there any way to root the device to clear out bloatware without tripping Knox counter?
After rooting, do I need to install a custom ROM or can i leave the stock image. If i left it as is (only rooted) would i still get updates as per normal?
thank you

[Completed] [Q] Tmobile Galaxy S5 root without triggering knox, warranty, lollipop questions

Going to cut it as short as I can, and I'll probably sound like a noob and annoying at the same time. Can I root my Galaxy S5 T-Mobile 4.4.2 G900TUVU1CNK2 without triggering knox? I don't want to touch anything (no rom or loader or anything) - I just want it to be rooted so I have some access.
If that can't be done, can I root and yet still send back to T-Mobile as a warranty replacement without them charging me?
If I were to root, can I still use the OTA upgrade from Lollipop once it comes out or does it have to be done a different way?

Hello
You can post your questions in the T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Q&A subforum. Since it's your device subforum, users with more device specific knowledge will be able to answer your queries. \

Rooting, OS downgrades, Knox, and backup software questions

Hi everyone, I'm purchasing an S6 next week and I have a few questions. I'm not a Android expert, so excuse my ignorance on some of these questions. I have been a Blackberry user for over 10 years and have a samsung tablet I sometimes use so I know enough to get by.
1. From what I have read there is a Samsung Knox which is a counter that will detect if the phone is rooted and it can possibly void the warranty. I have Att and I hate bloatware on my phones, so based on a previous post i made, it appears the only way to remove these apps is by rooting. Is there a way to flash a custom rom without tripping this counter or is it too soon to tell?
2. Lets say I keep the factory OS that came with the phone and I upgrade the OS, OTA when Samsung/ATT releases the next version of android in the future, is it possible to downgrade to the older version (or current lolipop) without tripping Knox and voiding any warranty or as soon as the phone is flashed with a new OS it is not under warranty anymore?
3. If i understand correctly Knox keeps track of how many times the phone has been flashed and if it has been rooted? If the phone is flashed with an older version of android released by Samsung/ATT is it still going to keep track of this or only when it is flashed with a custom rom?
4. Lastly what is the best backup software for backing up app data? I believe I had downloaded Keiss for my tablet but that is not compatible with S6 so Smart Switch and Helium I have read are the best options unless there are others you guys recommend.
Cheers

You will need to flash back stock recovery in order to get ota updates.
Why do you need to trip knox??
you can root the S5 without tripping Knox!!

Even with the latest os 5.0?
I used to have an s4 and back then no one has found out a way to root it without tripping Knox and I'm not going to flash any custom rom. I just want the xposed framework and lucky patcher

You can flash back to kitkat and then upgrade with flashfire to stock rooted lollipop.

Really, and how is that done. I have an S5 on AT&T running 5.0, phone was replaced through warranty for a newer version of the S5.
Towelroot didn't even work on my phone when it was on 4.4.2 through 4.4.4
So if there is any that you know how to root my phone, please let me know because I've been looking for a working root since I obtained the phone.

installing custom rom help noob

hi guys, since samsung s2 i dont use samsung mobile phones so its a long time
i bought a galaxy s6 and the original room is full of aplications i dont use, the ram avaible is a joke and the battery life isnt very good
i want to install a custom rom
im with the last ofical 5.1.1., if i install a custom rom i will loose right to waranty? there isnt any way of revert the root and count?
thanks
You can unroot the device and reflash the stock ROM, but you cannot revert the Knox counter. Whether or not you loose your warranty depends upon the laws in your country.
so its impossible for now to root, flash custom recovery and flash custom rom without activate the know counter?
Search for the engineering 5.0.2 bootloader. Unfortunately if you are on 5.1.1 already, then it is of no help.

Questions about root on Exynos

Hi guys, I'm thinking about rooting my Exynos S8+ G955F but there's a few things I wanted to confirm first.
First of all I know rooting will break Knox so no Samsung Pay/Health/etc. That's fine, but will it affect Sidesync? I use this daily and don't want to lose it.
Secondly all the info I've read suggests that rooting will break OTAs which doesn't line up with what I know about Magisk. Is there no systemless root available, or is it because rooting breaks Knox and no Knox means no OTAs? If I can't do OTAs can I still sideload updates?
Finally, should I consider any custom roms? I don't really want to be flashing an update every other week and I don't want to lose Android Pay so I'd rather stay on stock unless there's a good custom rom I should try.
