My brother got a Honor 8 FRL AL10 in China as a gift from Honor company and he asked me to change the Chinese Android to English if it's possible. My knowledge of such "operation" is very limited and following few guides I have managed to root the phone using the TWRP and SuperSu.
Now I'm kinda stuck here and don't know what to do next. I don't even know if it's possible to do it, I have used the search but in my eyes there is a ton of data which I don't understand and it makes me anxious tbh. So I want to ask you guys here to tell me in laic english what are my options right now. Is it possible to just flash the "english" version without all the chinese apps because I would rather stick to the stock ROM for now. I've spend all day with 1000 tabs open reading about stuff I can't understand :crying:

Have a chinese honor8, want to transfer android to "normal, english", phone rooted
you didnt had to do root for that, its just a selection of language in settings
or if you wanted an international version of software, you shouldve tried the official method,, or any official english firmware,
since now you have rooted and on twrp, go on and flash any custom rom available..

I just bought a new Huawei P8 GRA-UL00 from China and currently the device has GRA-UL00C00B153 build EMUI 3.1.
I live in Europe and even I have chosen the English language settings, the device still has many Chinese specific notifiers, apps, and some other stuff and as you know, there are restrictions on google services, play store, etc..
I searched over the forum and also some other resources to learn whether it is possible to modify the phone as to be purchased in Europe. After I read many discussions, I am now highly confused.
Do I need to unblock and root the device for removing the Chinese stuff or is it also possible to do it by finding and installing a European firmware (if exists) from the manufacturer?
I will be pleased if you guys can help me in this issue.

I live in France and I have the same problem on my P8 GRA-UL10 with a B183 China ROM version.
I can easily upgrade to an other B173 China ROM version but I can't upgrade to B143 General ROM version.
How to install a B141 General ROM version ? Do I have to unlock the bootloader ?

Your best option is to select the ROM produced for Europe.
After preparation ROM root the phone and then unlocking the bootloader downgrade supplier.
Most likely your problem will be solved.

It was a hard task but I unclocked the bootloader of my GRA-UL10 (I also root it) but I can not upgrade my offical B173 China ROM to a official B143 General ROM, I see this message hpics.li/4d8b21f

I'm totally new with modifying phone software... So please me gentle with me and give detail instructions. Probably all information is already here in forum, but really do not know which bit I should do/read.
I have got MT7-TL00 and would like to get it upgraded to 5.1 or something.
And most importantly can version be changed to european? Its partly in English, but lots of Chinese.
So is TL00 Chinese and TL10 and like other region version? Is hardware identical, so I could somehow get version changed?
I read few posts and it mentioned rooting flashing etc. so really do not know how to start...
I googled for MT7-TL00-TL10_EMUI3.1_Android5.1_B354.zip, but could not find working download. some links went to Chinese pages.

Copy the update.app 'dload' folder in the root directory of phone. And then manually use update app on the phone?

I just got my new honor X2 / Mediapad X2 from aliexpress a 703L 32GB 3GB Ram model.
it's lock screen / it's own play store and others are chinese even setting english australian on factory reset didnt help.
I see an update is waiting for me, Android 6 and the UI v. 4.0 B211
I dont know if I should update as I dont want to be locked from installing a custom rom, as Android 6.0 might be hard to install a custom rom?!
Currently Android 5.1.1 and B112 Rom, are installed

next what is impact of bloatware ?
also how abt jio & other networks of india work on it ?
once you root you can uninstall all bloatware
im chinese honor8 ,FRD-AL00,it's not work, no TWRP recovery,just eRecovery,vol+ vol- power to update.app,check id failed,prohbit install TWRP when use command line

get the things working on your chinese honor 8 and make it completely compatible with the India if yes.. please help me out

Just signed up and new to this world. Recently purchased an Oppo Find X2 Pro only to realize it is the Chinese ROM, model PDEM30. Huge disappointment ???
I desperately need your help in either switching to the global ROM or a custom ROM that will help me get rid of the very irritating Chinese apps and allow me to use apps like Google's Find My Device.
Any help or your kind suggestions will be very much appreciated.

I will be the sad one to tell you as no one seems to want to do so: there's no way to switch to Global ROM on PDEM30 model
The only thing you can do is to get rid of some of the bloatware using ADB but the limitations of Chinese software will stay :/ This community has been trying so long to flash the Global ROM on the Chinese version... without success.
Well i managed to flash the BETA Android 11 on the Global Firmware, and i rollback to Android Q but with CPH2025PU version as the Beta is too laggy and it worked except now my sim card is not detected...
I will try when Oppo will release a new European Firmware
