I am trying to change a sm-920t to an sm-920r4. I would like to use this phone with us cellular but because it is a 920t it's not possible. Is there a way to root the phone and change this? I'm familiar with Odin and changing firmware but I don't know about changing models? Any help appriciated.

Hello,
I have checked several threads and didnt find anything specific, so i am going to try and explain myself. I have a SM-G920I phone (galaxy s6), bought in America. I am living in Europe and I have unlocked the network with a code gotten from Samsung. The network and band works great and there is nothing wrong with it even tho the European g920f firmware and g920i have slightly different band/modem.
My friend has a g920f and I have checked in depth her phone and it is exactly the same as mine in everything.
So yes, I want to flash a g920f firmware on my g920i firmware. Please, don't mind why I do it, it is not relevant to my experiment.
I have flashed a modified kernel to my s6 (Droid 5.1.1) in order to root it and back my efs up. Once that is done, I know that if I brick my phone, I can bring it back as long as I have the efs. So okay, I flashed a g920f firmware (Mm) and it failed. I did some research and i guess that there is a file in the md5 which recognizes that my phone is not a g920f and rejects the updating. I have read about pit files and I have seen that all of them set different partition sizes, so I guess that may be another reason why I can't flash the 920f firmware -some file is larger than the current g920i partition-
My question is, if the g920f and g920i phone are TOTALLY equal in hardware, why does it fail? Please, don't give me a silly reason. I am expecting a technical reason.
Also, if I flash on my 920i a pit file according to the g920f firmware, will I be able to flash the F firmware later? If not, why?
Don't worry about band or modem. I will be happy if it gets flashed without any network. It is an experimental thing (i can always go back and flash a g920i firmware)
Thank you!
Hi All,
I have a moderate experience in flashing firmwares and modding my samsung devices over the years.
I have recently purchased an S7 which is unfortunately a SM-G930V model, i thought it would have been the SM0G930F which would have made life much easier.
I want to know if it is possible to get the original Australian firmware or even generic stock firmware on this device?
My issue is with the network settings where i have manually put in APN settings my match my carrier and 4G coverage in australia.
If not am i able to just flash a different baseband to this device preferably Australian?
I have read that flashing a different model firmware will soft brick the device, i just want some insight before i start breaking things, also what are my options.
Much appreciated, thanks, Will
You have the snapdragon s7, you can't flash the exynos 930f firmware on it, you can only flash the american firmware. You might have luck with the 930u unbranded firmware just do some research on it.
Thanks mate,
I'm going to flash this firmware using ODIN, do you know if it will be successful?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/xda-community-love-g930u-t3415875
not sure how to check my bootloader version etc
No clue, goto the verizon subforum and see if anyone flashed the 930u firmware on their 930v.
Just tried to flash the firmware to my phone and recieved an error, the phone is now stuck at download mode with error:
sw rev check fail : [system] fused 3 > binary 4
this means the bootloader won't accept the firmware?
LOL, guess ill try another firmware.. Any ideas?
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930V and I cannot receive and send MMS.
I am in France
I made several adjustments in the apn, but in vain.
So I want to flash the phone to see if it solves MMS problems.
Problem, I can't find the right files for the file.
I installed this one
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s7/firmware/SM-G930V/VZW/download/G930VVRSBCTC1/329889/
And that installed a VERIZON overlay and that wasn’t what I wanted at all and it didn’t solve my problems.
Can you tell me the right files without operator overlay?
thank you in advance
Hello
can you tell me that original firmware version to this phone?
thank you
Nobody knows ?
Your best bet would be flashing the G930U firmware, it's the generic non-carrier specific firmware intended for carrier unlocked phones. It would have the best chance working in Europe.

Make sure you flash all 4 files (AP, BL, CP, CSC), make sure you use CSC and not Home_CSC, this will wipe data but it will be necessary to fix your issues

It looks like you have an g930A (which is AT&T) as your PDA version, where it should be g930V or g930U. Make sure you download and flash all 4 files (BL, AP, CSC, CP). You can get the unbranded firmware from the same place you got the other at samobile. That is the G930U firmware.
Hello,
I come back to this subject late.
Here is the model number
Apparently it's an SM-G930V
Can I flash with this one?

thank you
Am I wrong or not?
Thank you

You cannot flash because the bootloader version is B11. Most threads don't mention the bootloader issue, either because the thread is old, or not enough people updated their firmware to experience the issue.
I started a thread about it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/question-rev-b-11-bootloader-t4167637
Hi!
I have a Galaxy A12 model SM-A125U with TMK region csc limited to Metro T-mobil
I would like to flash the phone with a firmware for the unbranded phone XAA region CSC.
The new model firmware is SM-A125U1_XAA
I don't know if I will brick the phone since it is network locked to Metro Tmobil.
The unbranded model # has a "1" after the model # but I am hoping it is the same model only unbranded.
Any suggestions or knowledge shared will be appreciated.
I apologize if I posted in the wrong place.
Thanks

In theory, it "should" be safe as long as the binary of what you are flashing is not lower than the binary what is currently installed on your device. Keep in mind that flashing the X firmware will not have any effect on unlocking the device and will not allow you to activate the device on a different network.
Thanks Droidriven,
I don't know how to check the binary of the file nor what it is.
Can I flash the firmwareto my phone with odin even though my bootloader isn't unlocked?
I downloaded drivers, Odin, and everything else but my CSC code is TMK (metro PCS) which i do not want due to all the bloating....
How do i set it up to be like carrier unlocked with no bloatware, im not sure which CSC code i need for that
I am using Frija to help me find the drivers I need
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Also does the Baseband version matter when flashing?
