Hey guys this might or might not be answered already i looked and couldn't find what i was looking for, anyways, i am looking for ROMs that have the Auto-Enable Data option available so that i can have data off at all times and whenever i get an MMS it auto retrieves it. Data automatically turns on to retrieve the MMS and then turns off when it retrieves it. Almost everyone 5.1.1 ROM has it except OOS but i haven't found one MM or N ROM that can do that. I have also seen that ROMs with the Messenger app don't have that option or it doesn't work. It looks like the google MESSENGER app but really isn't. But the MESSAGING app from ROMs does have this option, like stock 12.1 for example. If anyone could help me out or test this on whatever ROM they are on i would greatly appreciate it.
You can use tasker app which will toggle your data on and off after some interval which might help as there is no more option available
I guess that could work. Thanks

does anybody know of an app or function which allows me to selectively enable or disable 3g data access for certain apps?
I would need to have e-mail and calendar sync operating in push mode (i.e. all times on/connectable), but would like to suppress data connections for some other apps when there is no wifi connection.
i don't have (don't get) an unlimited data plan and android/some apps seem quite talky =). And I only have 100-250megs/month available.
I know there is an iptables firewall available for certain ROMS but it has not (yet?) been ported to Samsung Galaxy. Furthermore my guess is, a firewall would generally disable access, not only on 3g connections.
ty in advance
im in the exact same position you are with the same phone haha.
i would also love to know whether it's possible because i have a feeling the weather widget im using is trying to get information when i dont want it to.
My guess is, that the weather widget is just one of many =)
Hope there will be some positive reply on this
UltimateJuice, the pay version of the free JuiceDefender has a feature that can enable/disable data per app that is currently running. On top of that, it has a plethora of data on/off options that should be looked into regardless

that sounds not bad already. do you know if it is possible to set some access-blocking based on connection type?
TY
I don't have the pay version myself, but I don't think it has rules for connection type. What exactly do you mean by connection type?

It does the have controls for automatic turning on WiFi based on certain conditions, but it doesn't look like it gets to the point of being app-specific.
I think it's easier if you consult the official website, lol http://www.latedroid.com/2010/01/juicedefender.html
Any other ideas? Cus that seems to be a taff one
Am I thinking in the wrong direction?
APNDroid is not a solution since it essentialy kills of all traffic over GSM and e-mail + calender sync is a must have for me...
Check out DroidWall in the market. It seems to work for me. I enable all apps to be able to use wifi and disabled most apps via 3G

Droidwall only runs in some ROM´s, in those which includes certain modules in kernel compilation.
It´s not working on my HTC Desire custom ROM, so i bought JuiceDefender weeks ago and happy at the moment with its works.
Hey guys,
I have a very weird problem. I am not able to use any app like whatsapp, snapchat on cellular data. Though I am able to use google now and search easily on the same data. Just the apps do not work. What could be the reason for this ?
Thanks for your time
maybe some sort of carrier lock? do google services get connected (white icons not orange in the quick settings tile)?
If I am remembering correctly both of these apps were having issues on kitkat, I am not sure if they have updated or not. You can search around this forum but I saw this thread without a response so I thought I would give my view.

Hello, I have recently started having the same issues with my F6 not being able to load any background data as well. I believe your solution can lye within the apps that are being used. I Use a stock ROM too for my phone as there are no others out yet for it, and so, I also use ROM toolbox. This morning i could not for the life of me remember what i was doing to make the phone function this way, but remembered that i was dabbling with the DNS and server operations on ROM toolbox the night prier. I was a bit frustrated that there was no easy answer posted anywhere online (google) and had to figure it out myself.. (not so bad) . and since i have been constantly figuring out my ROMS abilities on STOCK I have acquired much knowledge for the F6 root and recover operations. IF you are having problems with any data being transmitted between apps and have been disabling ads through ROM toolbox be sure to make the right changes. For when you wake up to having no data app connection and your clearly connected to the internet it can become jarring.
hope this helps
Hello,
so i used the search for this but could not find anything @ google or here... So since I updated to 5.0 (or higher versions) i experience a big delay in receiving messages over the internet. This does not appear when i'm in any wifi.
It's something like "disable background data" => only if i start an app it will connect and get messages / mails or whatever. When i just leave my phone somewhere (without wifi) it won't receive messages (like from whatsapp) [or only with a big delay]. Where does this come from? Background data is enable and no network restricted. And as I said, it works perfectly in WiFis.
Thanks and have a nice weekend,
Cloud2F
It works fine for me.

How often are you rebooting? I think it happens with a runtime of some days. I have the feeling that Apps are closing in the background. This happend for me on stock and custom Roms. But again strange, that on Wifi i still get messages....
Hi
I am using samsung galaxy j7. I am facing a problem with it. Normally we get all the msgs directly flow to our whats app but i only receive msgs when i open whats app. When i checked in settings/data usage/whats app, i found that restrict back ground data was enabled. So i disabled it but after some time it automatically enbled. This is happening everytime. Every time i disable it, it enables itself.
Pls help me and give some solutions to overcome this problem.
Thanks in advance
