i would like to install google prey or similar apps to be installed as an system app, or default app so when you factory reset the device it is already installed with the user and configuration, are the tutorials "installing app as system app" the ones that will work?
any tips for where to go or what to do? thanks

Hi!
I did search and was hoping to find a 'Titanium Backup' section within XDA all I saw where threads in various sections. So if there is one and I should be posting there just let me know!
I will explain my situation;
I'm have a Nexus 5 that is unlocked and rooted. Within Google's update last night I had to reboot my phone and all of a sudden com.android.ui force closes and nothing worked. I wasn't able to tap on any app, app draw, dock .. nothing.
Here's where my ignorance comes to play. Could I have restored my phone from a backup which was only 3 days old without having to wipe it?
Yeah, I wiped the phone, re-rooted and let all the Google apps update and I'm bringing down my Titanium backup from the cloud to the device to restore my apps from it.
So could I have done this in a better way? If there is the next time I'll do it!
And is there some definitive guide on Titanium Backup? I followed a YouTube tut and it appeared to be have captured what I needed but I feel that there's more to it! I just feel I should be using that app to backup more than just my apps + data.
Hope you can help!
Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave,
Unfortunately I would suggest to do first a wipe cache/dalvik cache before trying a factory reset.
Restoring apps system with Titanium is not really recommended (become worst than before). I tried and had many force close on system ui during the test.
regards,
P.

I'm bit past that point. I wasn't restoring system app .. just user apps + data. That's one thing that I caught on to when I was learning about backup up was things NOT to backup and system apps where one!
Somebody in the G+ Xposed community told me to wipe cache was well. And my reply was the same that if the UI has force closed and nothing is responsive then how can I do this?
You'll have to pardon my ignorance as this is the first time I've encountered a problem like this. I've been pretty blessed so far! =)

does the Nexus 5 comes which a standard recovery where you can do it ... otherwise install a custom recovery.
but if you could access to titanium application with the constant popup, it has a option to clean cache.
good luck

The other source I'd tapped told me since I have a custom recovery that I able to wipe cache and dalvik cache as well. This person has had the same issue.
So ... I learned something new today! =)
Hope you will get a full functional phone after that
also don't backup/restore system app files/ ie messaging> call log etc between different versions or different types of android

Yep, I said that third post down! =)
Only thing was I was expecting to be able to restore from the cloud. Instead I had to copy everything from the cloud back down to the phone.
Phone works though.
But in my case I was told to get into recovery which I had done but after that had no idea what to do. Wiping and restoring was a bit premature.
Hi,
I am looking for a developer that would be able to create us a custom ROM for the Nexus 5 that allows us to have pre-installed apps on the device that remain after being factory reset.
Any developers interested please let me know.
Many thanks

Just use titanium backup and restore all apps with one click
For pbb files, you can copy paste it to your computer.

Ok thanks, just to give you some more information, we are looking to use these phones as rental products, but we want to pre-install a number of helpful apps on the phone. When the customer returns the phone we will factory reset the device to ensure none of their information is stored on the handset but we want to keep the preinstalled apps for the next customer.
This process will be being done by none technical staff so we're looking for the simplest and quickest solution.
Thanks

It isn't hard. Maybe using TiB (titanium backup) you are able to convert the apps to system apps and then they will remain. But devices will need to be rooted for that. You could hide the SuperUser icon or alike but the complexity level arises since its a launcher feature (hiding icons).
Or the apk's can be stored within the internal memory and re installed quickly after factory reset?
One thing that I have always thought would be good, is that apps like Prey and other tracking apps actually have /data/data/<app Dir> moved to system so they can survive a reset. Keeping an app on system is one thing. Making an app store it's data in the ROM is another..
You don't need a custom ROM for that. All you'd have to do is convert the apps to system apps, placing them on the system partition. A factory reset only erases the data partition, not the system partition, so the apps will remain.
Hello, let me explain my situation
I am using Lenovo a850
I've rooted my phone, granted supersu access to root explorer, be file explorer, and a few of other apps and still, can't delete bloatware. I need to do this, because my phone came with 30 useless Chinese apps, they are taking about 350mb of my internal storage. Same thing happened when I tried to change Boot logo.
When apps that require root asked me for access, I granted it, but when I tried modifying files, an error occurred.
I need to delete these apps, because they are taking a lot of my internal storage.

Just to be clear, I tried many other apps like Root browser etc. but same thing happens
I guess that I've made some kind of mistake that I'm not aware of.
Thanks for futher assistance!
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you tried using an app like Titanium Backup to remove the unwanted apps?
Thank you for your reply
I've tried that, but same thing, app is "deleted" until I exit titanium backup, when I come back in it, apps are back there. I've tried removing them with recovery exploit, but after reboot, nothing changes, app is still there.

Ok. It might be a good idea to ask the A850 community to see if anyone who is experienced with the device can help you. You can find the A850 device forum here:
Lenovo A850
And within it there's a q&a section here:
A850 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Go ahead and ask your question there.
Good luck!

I've a problem with the GT-S7562. The device does an automatic reboot. The problem is that if I delete applications they will show up again after the reboot ( same apps, same files and same settings) every time I delete apps or files or change settings everything goes in vain once the device reboots. I've tried to do a hard reset and a recovery still doesn't change anything; same apps, same files and same settings. I've tried to flash a ROM; same result once the phone boots I'm still on the old ROM with the same apps, same files and same settings. What do you recommend?
Please I really need your help!
