No man, you need to follow the guide for rooting. 291 firmware, download all the things needed in that post 2 kernels and root and recovery tool) , after you downloaded. 291 kernel and .575 kernel, you need to unpack both and repack separately with extension .ftf , copy them to firmware folder (ex. c:/users/XX/.flashtool/firmware)
In flashtool click lighting icon select flashmode and find your 575 kernel.ftf select it and follow instructions on screen, now open your recovery tool and open install.bat, now connect phone again to PC be sure u have usb debugging and mtp mode selected. After the process end your phone should reboot in recovery, flash a supersu.zip ( u can find it on xda somewhere) after you successfully flashed supersu u will get root, now switch to flashtool and flash the same way like you did kernel 291
And you're done

File Type: zip kernel291.zip - [Click for QR Code] (14.40 MB, 5270 views)
File Type: zip kernel575.zip - [Click for QR Code] (14.47 MB, 6230 views)
File Type: zip recovery_for_mm575.zip - [Click for QR Code] (4.56 MB, 6168 views)
yes it is them files sorry, ok so can i unpack and repack the two kernel files using winzip? If so could you explain how to do it so i know i get it right? regards Mark
You need to unpack the files inside a zip, select them all right click "add to archive" and add in the name of file ".ftf"

Thanks buddy one more question, when i add them to a archive, under archive format do i select RAR, RAR5 or ZIP?
ive done exactly as you have said but when i click the lightening symbol, then click flashmode the firmware selector box that pops up it does not show the .ftf files. I have put them into the correct folder
Are the kernels in ftf format?
Ex. Kernel575.ftf

yes, ive managed to sort that by selecting the zip box. Now ive donne the first part and flashed the 575 kernel and followed the instructions, got to the screen where it says to unplug phone, press and hold the volume down key and reconnect it which i then got 'root access allowed' in the log
Now the phone appears to be just turning on and off onto a black screen and when i run the install.bat file it shows:
daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
adb server version (32) doesn't match this client (36); killing...
* daemon started successfully *
But nothing else is happening other than the mobile going off and on by itself
Also in the flashtool it shows:
28/043/2016 14:43:19 - ERROR - Cannot identify your device.

You need to close flashtool first, before u can flash recovery with that tool

How do i do that it wont turn on anymore it like stuck in a loop where it turns on and off but only has a black screen when it turns on, then turns off after about 10 secs, and constantly just does that
My phone wont let me do anything more with it , am i able to go back to the start with it? What do / can i do now?
so dumb. just go easyway: unlock bootloader if not done. instal the 7.0 previewrom install fotarecovery and then u can go on and install any rom u want. so sumb to stay at 4.4.4 there is 0 benefit to be on ****ty 4.4.4 u dont nee root to have a recovery and most good rom nowadays have root packed in. recommning ExistenZ rom or the one in deelopment 14.1 unoficial CM. good day sir.

I have the same error on Ubuntu 12.04. Anyone with a solution?
Hello
I am a beginner in root and this is my first time.
I wanted to root my xperia acro s because it is recently slow and i want to explore more with my phone.
So i rooted my phone and it seems to have some sort of clockworkmod installed and i wanted to install cyanogenmod.
I used the method from this guy (not from the start) and when installing kernel, it fails.
This is the log from flashtools.
