Is there a way to Schedule Always on Display OFF at Night?
It would be great if you could do this or find an app??
I massively extend my watch battery life, by doing the following:-
During the day Always on mode set to +7 brightness. Wrist gesture feature enabled
At night I have setup Do Not Disturb between 10pm and 6am. Always on set to off. Wrist gesture feature disabled.Brightness set to +1. So at night to see time you have to press the top right button.
Trouble is I have to go through a ritual of selecting these settings before going to sleep and when I have woken up - it would be nice to have these settings scheduled????

You can optimise it a bit: with do no disturb mode on, the gesture is automatically off. And put the brigth to 1 is also unusefull, as you have to wake it up manually and very few times at nigth.
Anyway, I am with you. I have asked several times to Samsung to add a nigth auto mode based on schedule (I have S2) disabling AOD and enabling do not disturb, with no action by them.

Hi,
Are there any news?
Heard something about Tasker for the S3.

Nestade
I am considering switch from Huawei to S3. Huawei automatically switches off the AOD if being laid for a while.
Does Samsung do this?
The S3 will turn off the screen and cancel notifications the moment you take it off your wrist.
I like to use the sleep tracker but like others when it comes on at 2 AM it's like a flashlight in the dark. It would be nice not having to turn the display down to 1 every night.

Any tips on wearing s3 while sleeping?
First night I wore it, no problems. Second night and the battery completely drained. I had just finished charging it so it started at 100%. S health shows data for four hours.
Thoughts on what could drain it so fast?
Non-LTE model, AOD on, brightness at 7.
You need to change your settings before you go to bed!
Turn off wrist gesture.
Turn off AOD
Set brightness to 1/2
I also set do not disturb between 11pm to 6am
It would be nice if there could be an app where you could schedule all these settings would save you having to do them before and after sleep??
Thanks, don't forget to shut off sensitivity setting. I forgot that I was playing with it yesterday and left it enabled.
You would think if they can detect when you are asleep it could automatically turn on dnd and set the screen to off (only turn on when a button is pushed). No need to schedule anything
Personally I'm not sexually attracted to my watch so I would never think of doing such a thing.
Is there any way to quickly set the phone to do not disturb, switch the wake up gesture to off? I like the sleep tracking feature of the watch, but I hate getting alerts in the middle of the night, or when my watch keeps waking up. It would be nice to have a single switch or those controls on one screen to put the watch in sleep mode basically.
I use quiet hours... Don't know if such app exists ...

There is an app in the Galaxy Apps called Theater Mode. it is a widget. one tap and the screen goes very dim and is muted. it cannot turn off the AOD (Gear won't allow it). You can also set a schedule for Do Not Disturb (settings > device > do not disturb) so it turns on/off automatically on your schedule...
Can't you swipe down from the top and hit do not disturb?

yes, you can. and you can also set it to a schedule so you don't even have to swipe down and select it twice a day...

go to settings > device > do not disturb; from there select "turn on as scheduled" and then go down to "days" "start time" and "end time" to set your schedule.
wasn't aware of scheduling feature, so i'll look at that. The other issue with sleeping with the watch on is the screen lighting up. I have to also go in and turn off the auto wake up gesture, but even that doesn't prevent the bezel from turning and lighting up the screen.
So I can manually mitigate most of these issues, but it's several manual steps every night, then again every morning. Just seems like a small fix that could make it a much more convenient thing to use.
Silly but useful solution: I wear a wrist sweatband over it at night. I don't even notice it and it saves me an elbow jab from my wife in the middle of the night.

I use the Theater mode app (very dim screen) and turn AOD off... if the screen does happen to come on during the night due to bezel movement, it is not even noticable (at least for my wife and me!)
Theater Mode is great but does that also Mute the S3? If so it is not a solution for people, like me, that use the watch as an alarm clock.
Hi,
since yesterday i have a HW2. Usaly im a wearable user like miband, garmin, Fitbit...and brand new in the android wear universe.
- there are no "nightmode" ?? Do not disturb and shut down your Display between 10pm and 6am setup?
- there a no sleep tracking per default? I try sleep as android. But that lights the display all the night with "Sleeptracking" - and in the morning there are not data
- no altimeter, no barometer per default? (see it on the S3 frontier per default)
A lot of questions and not enough answers

On the clock screen pull down a little shortcut menu that contains airplane mode, sound, theater mode (turns the display black until you press the power button), do not disturb, settings.
There are no sleep tracking. There is though a app called "sleep as android" you can download as you mentioned.
Barometer and altimeter can be showed in some watch faces
Thanks. Today was the second night that sleep as android crashes after 4 minutes on my OP3
Yesterday i had to charge the HW2 2 times - that a but to much. Have to optimize that thing.
Today i try it at my desk. Sleep as android crash after 3-6 minutes on my handy. Dont no why. This log-logger from the faq dosent make a file. Very anoining.
Heart Rate sensor while a bike round. Im not sporty. If my wrist is wet....i get ~70Bpm. If i try that it shows me like i feel. 140Bpm and more. Go ahead and my wrist is wet again....plays start from the begining.
The first 10 Minuites are NOTHING...till the time i dry my wrist.
Today after 11 hours I had only 15% left of the watch. But it was down to 40% before I did a 20 min run with endomondo on the watch and listening to music with bluetooth headphones while running. I also hade a sim card in the watch and the display set to always on. So it was heavy usage. But I did not run for long time..
Air pressure/Barometersensor look not calibratet or whatever. Here we are at 1022hpa, whatch show 1009. Yesterday 1020hps - watch show 1009hpa
Hi
Is there any way to have the AOD go of automatically at certain times, say through the night,at the moment I'm having to switch it of at night manually,I don't require it then.
Cheers.
In the settings menu, you can set a schedule for when it should appear.
Put your phone face down

The S7 Edge had a feature that would allow the AOD to change to the edge location, which was very convenient. There was a schedule setting. I wonder have the AOD set to show normal on the face from 7am til 10pm. At 10pm, the AOD would change to the edge location. You could choose whether to have the edge show on the left or right side. I have sent 4 requests to Samsung asking why this feature was removed, especially since the S7 & S8 are running the same version of Android. There response each time was that they did not understand the question.

I turn it off/on with the help of Tasker. It turns off after midnight and turns back on at 7 am.
Settings/ lock screen and security/ always on display/ set schedule
This is the setting I was referring to. Mine is set to 6:00 am to 2:00 am which means that between 2:00 am and 6:00 am the AOD display is turned off.
I noticed this on my S22U XSA updated to one UI5.1. Sleep mode (designed to turn off notifications, etc) turns on an alarm at the end of sleep mode.
Even if I change sleep mode to tell it not turn on an alarm, the next day, it is back with an alarm on.
Does anyone else use sleep mode who has seen this?
Does anyone know how to provide feedback to Samsung?
Well...I experienced the same and this on both the S21 ultra and the S22 ultra since the update to UI5.1
Been playing around with it and it seems that the sleep mode triggers it.
I have now do not disturb activated and sleep deactivated.
So in effect do not disturb does the same as sleep mode that all notifications, calls etc are blocked unless you allowed different. At the end do not disturb goes off without an alarm. I have it set for the full week including weekend,
I have not really understood the idea of this sleep mode except that it has more options than a simple alarm.
I couldn't turn off the alarm today ... Pressed so many times and nothing happened.
Had to unlock and exit the app.
I discovered this by accident the other day, super irritating "feature" imo - I already have an alarm set (which, through the magic of Tasker and intents, triggers my Home Assistant server to do a bunch of other stuff) and I figured "sleep mode" would be more like DND, but nope. Sleep Mode got disabled reeaaall quick.
