I have several wireless chargers from Samsung to various other manufacturers. That includes fast chargers and standard wireless ones and nothing works other than the charger that comes in the box with the Gear S3 and my charger that comes with the Gear S2. On the other hand my Gear S3 works with any wireless charger.
I believe that the S3 uses a different wireless standard than Samsungs other products. I've tested this several times. Even resetting my Gear S3 through this testing to be sure about it all.
What's your take? This really sucks for many reasons. For one I have tons of wireless chargers that I bought online that I keep throughout my home and even in my car that I simply used to top off my Gear and S2 when the power got a bit of a low. I This no longer seems to be possible with the S3 unless we invest in a made for the S3 or S2 charging cradle.
Written with my phone without proof reading. Overlook errors please. Thanks

I agree with you. It works on my S2 charger but it seems to get a little hot, plus I get a warning to use original charger. I have 2 different Samsung wireless pads. One is the regular wireless charger first out for my Note 5, and the other is a Sammy Wireless Fast Charger. Neither one works for the Gear S3. I also believe it is not a conventional Qi charging standard that Sammy is using.

Been looking for a spare charger for work and the s2 one is about £25.
Was in a retailer who had the s6 wireless charger £25 on a display stand tried my s7 which worked then thought try my s2 which worked perfectly soon as I dropped it on the charger.
In the past heard people say the s2 won't work with.
I bought one direction from Amazon works fine on everything except my s2, wondering if it's fake or the charger doesn't always work with the s2.
Anyone tried it on there s2 ?

Mine doesn't work either. It keeps going charging and stopping no matter what position I place the s2 on the pad.
Was your a standard charger or fast charger (new desktop style) ?
I ordered and testing a new style fast charger, that does not work also.
Went into two Carphone Warehouse tested the display standard charger, 1 worked 1 did not.
Interestingly though the S2 always works on the Belkin Qi charger
There was a thread on this a year ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/help/gear-s2-charger-compatibility-t3221837
The bottom line is that standard Qi chargers can be made to sort-of-work with careful positioning, but they eventually overheat the watch or just stop charging. You can get yourself a little charge from some standard chargers in a pinch, but the S2 is basically not compatible with any but S2 specific chargers (and there are 3rd party S2 chargers that are pretty cheap).

Mine is Samsung wireless fast charger (horizontal). I also tried the QiStone+ but same thing happened (nonstop charging and discharging right away) The watch got hot so I assume it may harm the battery life
Hello,
One of my reasons to purchase Gear S3 was it Qi charging capability.
I have phone Qi phone charger in my carand I thought to use it for Gear also.
To my disappointment, the charger does not charge the watch.
The watch doesn't show charging and becomes warm.
It works OK with Samsung stock charger though.
Since Gear S3 has million of settings - is there any way to make it work with the car Qi charger?
Thanks!
No, there is no settings for it, simply, watch is not Qi charging compatible. Check this http://www.tizenexperts.com/2017/02...ers-with-your-gear-s3-it-could-fry-your-watch
Hello,
Has anyone tried charging their Gear S3 (Classic/Frontier) with a Nokia DT-900 Qi Charger?
I got a couple of these chargers when it went on clearance at my local ATT store.
I just got a Frontier from ebay (no warranty) and don't want to take any unnecessary risks.
Looking at the DT-900 specs: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/mobile/accessory/dt-900/specifications/
It would appear the charger is within spec of the 750 mA input.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I have various QI wireless chargers and for most they do not work. I have one that is a fast qi charger (10w) and it did work and the charging indicator showed on the watch. (Amazon link: http://a.co/bEck7Tr). That said, I only let it charge for a few seconds as I don't want to damage my watch. As well gear S3 had to be perfectly placed for it to start charging... so not worth it in my opinion.

It charges with my S10+ using wireless power share. I guess you can do it, but not quite recommended.
It may get hot and the battery may get damaged by using a not compatible charger.
Better safe than sorry!

My gear s3 frontier wouldn't work with power share with my original case (encased rebel series) but worked without the case. This was despite wireless charging for the s10+ working with case on.
I just got a spigen neo hybrid today and the power share works but it has to be lined up just right. My guess is your case is just too thick for the wireless power share.
Edit: make sure you turn on power share. It doesn't just work without enabling it first on the phone.

Yeah, I thought it would be like hey, there's something that could be charged and just work.
I didn't want to sound condescending but it really wasn't advertised greatly. I'm sure the buds probably have something that says "to charge with power share, turn it on first", but I haven't gotten those yet. Honestly, I'm just so happy I can charge my Gear S3 frontier with it. It's stupid that a "standard" Qi pad won't charge it, but my phone will.....
I have had the S7 Edge for the last year. Because I love fast wireless charging, over that time I collected 6 different Fast Wireless Qi Chargers. They all worked great with the S7 Edge. However, in testing them with my new S8+, ONLY two of them work. The other 4 do not work. Instead it sends the phone into a loop where it says "Fast Wireless Charging" then immediately "Wireless Charging Paused".
Again these all worked with my S7 Edge - why wouldn't they also work with the S8+? I have tried all the chargers using the same charger and power cord as well as with two different QuickCharge 2.0/3.0 chargers and cords. Regardless, the two work and the other 4 do not. What am I missing? Is there some special thing the charging pad needs on the S8+ that wasn't necessary to fast wireless charge the S7 Edge?
I would just get official one. Refurb last years model cheap on amazon

I think this may be more of a problem with their phones. I had a note 5 that did that right out the box. Would go on and off wireless charging. Even now I just put the s8 on an aftermarket wireless charger and didn't get anything at all
Mine s8 doesn't like my Otterbox case with the new leather Samsung wireless charger. I have to position it just right.

I have the same problem with my Samsung fast charger (EP-NG930). The problem only exists during fast charging. If I plug in a 5V 2A adapter it will work fine. A Samsung technician in BestBuy confirmed my charger and phone are not compatible then tried to get me to buy a EP-NG920 or EP-PG950.
Samsung's phone support wants me to exchange the phone.
I have several Qi chargers, that all work with the Galaxy S8. Will they work with the Gear S3 as well?
I've tried but haven't gotten any others to work. I suspect that the coils in the phone chargers are simply too large a diameter for them to transfer current to the receiver in the Gear S3.
Anyone knows of a reliable and safe wireless charger for the S10+?
Most claim to have overcharging, overheating and overcurrent protection and I would think the phone itself must have protection to stop the charge if the charger starts acting weird, however, a chinese wireless charger from amazon completely killed my phone.
I got one on Amazon of the brand "Pictek" and left my phone overnight and in the morning was extremely hot all day (average 45° C or 113° F), battery drained extremely fast in 4 hours then phone died completely with no way to turn it back on (I tried everything and didn't even go into recovery mode)
Also, the samsung ones don't have very good reviews either and I tried one of my samsung pads (one of the first generations, not fast charge) with my galaxy buds and they got extremely hot really quick and that doesn't happen with other wireless chargers so I discarded that one as well.
I'm temped to try something like anker or yootech but even those have a few one star reviews stating they melted or started producing smoke. I'm starting to get very paranoid with all these chinese electronics, just last year a car charger from an also "reputable" brand with a lot of reviews on amazon burned my passengers car seat when my car was like 2 months old
I use Samsung's fast wireless chargers (flat and angled) and they work great in my opinion. They have a fan located on the back to keep the temperatures down and are actually pretty quiet.
I use this charger and it's way small and works well with my Galaxy buds and S10+. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07H3QV49S/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdc

do you have the galaxy buds by any chance? I was thinking on getting the newest samsung dual charger but $99 is too much plus I prefer the ones that are like a stand (angled) instead of flat. I feel is less effort trying to center the phone in the correct position
I was also thinking getting one of the previous generation duo chargers but there are some reviews on amazon having the same problem I had with the samsung pad and my galaxy buds but they are having the issue with the Gear S3 but I was wondering if the same would happen with the buds.
ShaneB 0 stars, either defective or a fire hazard waiting to happen. Really disappointed

Okay so this is what I've been needing to charge my Gear S3 Frontier watch and my Note 9 instead of having 2 chargers on my bedside table.
The flat charger states it's fast charging; however, on my S8+, Note 8, and Note 9 it slow charged it, the fast wireless charging stand, however, did charge my devices with fast charging.
Onto the more concerning part of this review. My Gear S3 Frontier watch would overheat using the flat charger. My watch would throw an error in red to use the original charger - odd. In addition to the error, my watch would be so hot that the metal would burn my skin when putting the watch on after being "charged", which it took 4-5 hours to charge 85% up from 60%. Of course I thought it was my watch but when I used the charger that came with my watch it was fine. So in conclusion, the flat "fast" wireless charger over heats any Samsung device placed on it whereas the fast wireless charging stand worked great.
I purchase every S-line and a new Note every year, and this is an unacceptable 1st party charger.

I have a stand at work in my office that works perfect with the phone and the buds without barely any heat on either but I don't remember the brand and it doesn't say anything, just the voltage and "fast charge"

I do have the Galaxy buds and have not had any heating issues.
I hear you on the angled ones. I use the angled on my nightstand and flat on my computer stand. I'm waiting for the fast wireless 2.0 charger that stands up before I buy it.

Just to confirm, the one you have that works with both the phone and earbuds without any heating issues is this one?:

No, the flat one I use for the buds and my phone, and the stand for my phone only, for obvious reasons.
Flat:

Stand:

I've been using anker ever since, no problems here.
