[Completed] Wiped all system data, now stuck on cwm custom recovery mode - XDA Assist

I am a complete newbie to rooting. I followed the kingoroot guidelines and rooted my Idea Aurus 3 phone. Root was success. The next step I did was downloading custom recovery and cyanogenmod ROM from here to my memory card
I flashed the custom recovery with flashify. The next step I did was wiping all data from the device by entering in to recovery mode (including cache and everything)
I was hoping I could simply install zip from sd card. But when i click on this option, I cannot find my sd card nor zip file (I checked most folders including emmc, etc, sd-ext and couldn't find SD card. The custom recovery name is Phylz touch 6
Now basically I have a phone without OS and all I can do is accessing custom recovery. I don't have a back up too
I can also see an error log "Cannot mount custom path"
I formatted the memory card to exFAT from exFAT 32 hoping that would work, it didn't help as well.
Also tried to connect phone to pc using USB (thinking I can move rom to system memory), but wouldn't detect phone memory
Now, is there any way to get this fixed? Any help would be awesome
Thanks!!!

[Q] TWRP , can't find SD in install

I had issues with the last CWM release so I decided to try TWRP. I use Rom toolbox Pro to get into recovery and wiped all to flash a new rom. Problem arose when I went into" Install" program of TWRP, I could not find my SD files. I change from root to SD card and only saw twrp, cwm and upper level. I tried many ways , but could not get to the files in my SD card. Any help would be appreciated...
Check in /data/media
If your stuff isn't there its gone. If you don't have any ROM zips and you have already wiped system you will need to setup and use ADB to push one.

Have you tried formatting your SD Card with an external card reader, then loading the files?

I tried an earlier version of TWRP and my SD card popped up fine in the Install section. Maybe it's me.... but I dunno the latest versions of recoveries CWM and Twrp have had bad sections....

TWRP Recovery 2.4.4.0.

I cleaned my tablet tf300, to install a newer and different rom, now i can't get twrp to see my microsd card to install the rom, how can i get the rom file to my internal sd card to proceed, as i can't get adb to work either, i've no idea how to copy the files to internal to get going again.
Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure the SD card is mounted in the "Mounts" section of TWRP.
I did that but it won't stay in that mode, keeps on reverting to internal.

Did you try unmounting the internal, then mounting external?
I have zero luck in getting it to stay on external SD, I've tried to unmount the internal and then mount the ext sd, so I am stuck. I don,t even see USB mode when I hold volume down and power, the only option is recovery Android and wipe data, so I don't seem to be able to get the zipped rom i want to install copied where I can use it.

Thats how the new bootloader works, fastboot protocol is enabled the second you boot to that menu. So make sure you are on the patched 2.4.4.0 recovery.
I've downloaded a patched version of the twrp 2.4.4.0, but i can't access usb function to use fastboot or any other method to get the patched file to my internal storage on the tablet. Any ideas as how to transfer the needed file? Hope it's not bricked beyond repair. Plus my pc fails to install device driver, i am stuck at the starting screen that says "the device is unlocked" and asus logo.

[Q] Not sure where im @?

Hi I'm a little bit confused and lost between stock recovery, cwm, rom manager and my new SD card.
I browsed 100s of threads and watch alot of good and some not so good videos but 'im still not sure what my best next moves are and why some things dont work.
I have a
Sansung GT i9300
Anroid 4.1.2
Baseband I900XXEMC2
Kernel 3.0.31-1032335 [email protected]#1SMP PEEMPT Mon March11 ..KST 2013
Build JZO54K.I9300XXEMC2
I wanted to use apps like Titanium BackUpPro and Avast so I rooted my phone flashing CWM v3.55 via Odin and have been using it with out any problems for a while.
Then I decided that I would like to flash a custom rom like cm and I downloaded Rom Manager thinking it to be the right tool... ?
I let Rom Manager flash the latest version of CWM recovery 6.0.4.6 ...
but when I look on the apps on my phone I find CWM v3.55-Chainfire ? and
if I try to update I get directed to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
When booting in rcovery mode my phone enters the android system recovery e3 and I get an Error message:
E:faild to mount /data (invalid agrument)
What exactly does this mean ???
Should I try flashing CWM 6 non toutch via Odin or flash back stock ROM?
I thought I would try backing up to an ext SD card so I orderd a SanDisc mircosd 64GB card but the problem still remains.
I still cant back up my ROM using ROM Manager or CWM
Why ? What happend?
I tried formating the SD card with ROM Magager but SD card fails to load. I tried formating with gparted fat32. Still wont load...
The ext SD card shows up in the file exlporer on my phone just fine but
I can't seem to be able to get Rom Manager to recognize it and CWM recovery isn't working.
So instead of backin up my exsiting ROM to the SD card maybe it would be a better idea to install CWM and CM to the SD card
and keep my ROM on the internal SD as it is???
I tried creating a bootable ext sd card with CWM and CM like here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_acclaim
but when it comes to booting the phone in recovery mode I still get the E:faild to mount /data (invalid agrument) message....?
How do I boot from ext sd card?
Whats my next best move?
I have a working rooted ROM on my local SD card with all my apps backed up in clowd. But my recovery mode issue remains to be resolved.
and I have a 64GB ext SD card with CWM and CM on it but I can't install with Rom Manager? because SD card fails to load.
Thanks for trying to follow so far!!!!

First option:
1- Download Philz recovery from: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300/philz_touch_6.07.9-i9300.tar.md5
and flash it with odin 3.07or newer
2- Downlad SuperSu root from: http://vk.com/doc167892454_171297436?hash=877f29ccdb4e944a70&dl=28aabb49a7217e1962, copy to your device, go to recovery mode and do 'install zip from...'
Second option:
1- Download CF-Auto Root from http://download.chainfire.eu/229/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip, extract and flash it with odin (that should enable root permissions in your device).
2- Download CWM Manager from PlayStore and do a flash, or better- flash the Philz recovery as above (you don't neet the root file)
Follow the Odin packages instructions...?

Yep, follow it,
And yes- both backup and exSD use (called sdCard0 in the recovery), here's the developer's thread & guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
Easy way to flash CWM or Touch wiz is to download EZ-Recovery from the play store, open the app scroll to recovery, click recovery and choose which one you want and click flash. Done. I personally like TW.

[Q] Can't flash from SD Card

Good evening, XDA :cyclops:
I am having issues flashing from recovery!
Some device info: Motorola Xoom WiFi, fully stock and fully updated, unrooted, bootloader unlocked today, device wiped multiple times. This is my first day trying anything custom on this device.
I decided today that i wanted to go custom on my Xoom today and update it to KitKat via this method.
I have downloaded all the required files per the mentioned guide. While in recovery i go to apply update from USB drive, but it is not finding any of the downloaded files from the guide.
What I see is
Code:
Android system recovery <3e>
Choose a package to install:
/sdcard
../
The ../ is my only option to click and it obviously returns me to the main recovery menu.
All the zip files are on the root of the SD card, not in sub folders. I have confirmed via PC and another phone that the files are indeed there. I tried with a different, fresh, formatted (fat32) SD card, but I'm getting the same results.
The Xoom is indeed reading the SD card, confirmed via settings>storage.
I've tried using adb, but it's telling me the image isn't correct, but it's certainly possible I'm missing a step with adb.
Code:
C:\Xoom bootloader unlocker2>adb reboot bootloader
C:\Xoom bootloader unlocker2>fastboot flash R.A.H._TWRPv2.6.3_BigPart_selinux.zip
unknown partition 'R.A.H._TWRPv2.6.3_BigPart_selinux.zip'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'R.A.H._TWRPv2.6.3_BigPart_selinux.zip'
Yes, the zip is in that folder. I thought maybe I'd root first, so I tried that method with the root zip, but I'm getting the same error.
Is there something I can do to repartition this device and get it rommed, or am I doomed to use it stock?
Thank you for your time!
I found some information stating that I need to enable the SD card, but since I'm running up to date SW, and I can see the SD card from settings, I'm assuming that this isn't the case, correct?
I'm still stuck. Anyone around who could give me some advice?

It appears the XOOM does not like SD Cards that were formatted using Windows
(or perhaps Quick Formatted using Windows).
Using a 4GB FlashDrive formatted as Fat32 using Linux (i.e. Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit boot CD)
resolved the issue.

[Completed] [Q] How To Fix vold.fstab in Maxx GenxDroid7

I have Samsung Maxx GenxDroid7, which has very low internal memory (<200 MB). I have an external micro SD card of 16 GB, but still couldn't install many apps due to insufficient internal memory.
I read on the Internet that if I modify vold.fstab and replace the word "sdcard" with "sdcard2" then my external SD card will act as internal memory.
So I rooted my phone and installed Superuser, but I haven't installed ClockworkMod recovery or any other custom ROM yet.
Problem Description:
I installed ES File explorer on my SD card and allowed root access to it via Superuser. I then went to /system/etc/ from ES file explorer, edited vold.fstab and replaced the word sdcard with sdcard2.
When I restarted my phone the external SD was no longer accessible. ES File Explorer is also gone, so I cannot undo the change that i did. I tried installing ES again from my data connection, but the installation fails (and the phone reboots immediately). I am not able to install any new apps.
I am unable to access my external SD card, so I can't put anything there via PC or via recovery. I tried pressing the power button +Volume down to go into system recovery mode. I see only these options
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
When I try to select the second option, it says "installation aborted" as the SD card is not accessible. I tried to select the 3rd and 4th options, but that didn't help either - I think factory reset will not reset vold.fstab.
I only have the default apps and Superuser now. I somehow need to find a way to get write permission to /system/etc or to /system/etc/vold.fstab.
Can someone let me know how I can edit this file again? I don't have an original vold.fstab
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you tried formatting the sd card back to its original state?

I think the best idea is to ask the person that wrote the guide you followed in the first place how to reverse what you did.
