Notification Drawer - Lenovo Phab 2 Pro Questions & Answers

Anyway to customize the notification drawer? Something more material design like? The notifications are God awful.

Nope there isn't a way to customize the notifications. Hopefully their update coming in early December will fix that or let us customize at least.

I HATE what they have done to the notifications,I had to just turn those off on my lock screen, thats how much I hate what they have done.... where can we let them know to fix this?

Wrong lockscreen

Once every 2-3 days, I 'll get the weather lockscreen, instead of the one I have chosen. It's not annoying, but have you guys noticed anything like that?
go to the weather app-> settings-> untick the last option

Yes I do. For me it's a little bit odd.
It's not persistent though since once I unlocks it and put the phone into standby and wakes it up again it's back to the screen I have choosen. But once in a while the weather lockscreen pops back up again.
Oh.... so it's some kind of notification for todays weather? And here I thought it was some kind of bug... heheheh
Now I just wish there was an easy way to put the weather widget on any kind of lockscreen... so far I haven't got to customize the lockscreens with widgets...

Notifications

Hey there, new member and new nexus 5 owner here
First, let me apologise if this thread has been done before, I did a search but didn't turn up the kind of results I was hoping for.
I've come over to android/nexus from iPhone and one thing I'm missing is the iOS notifications.
I've tried a few android notification apps so far with various successes and failures but none have been able to do exactly what I want them to.
The apps I have tried are;
NiLS - Great lock screen notifications but no banners.
NotifierPro Free - Great banners but no lock screen notifications (if these two could both work at the same time I would be 100% happy but unfortunately NotiferPro seems to block NiLS from displaying lock screen notifications).
Notify Me! - This is what I'm using at the moment. The lock screen is ok, the pop up notifications are ok although there seems to be some delay before a notification is displayed which was not the case with either NiLS for the lock screen or NotifierPro for banners.
If anyone has any suggestions for apps that do both lock screen notifications AND banners I'd love to check them out
OR if anyone knows a way I can get NotifierPro and NiLS to play nice with each other that would also be rad.
Thanks
Try SlideLock. There's even an option to make your notification bar look like iOS with the dots for signal strength

You could try using Dashclock for lock screen notifications. Download and load up any extension you want for whatever app. I've been using Dashclock combined with light flow for a long time and I found that's the best so far, for me anyways.
Only problem is its not really Banners like what iOS has but it's a better alternative.

[Q] Disable heads-up notifications on L?

I have a rooted Nexus 5 and I flashed the factory image for Android Lollipop. I like the clean design but I don't really like the heads-up notifications. You know, the white pop up at the top that covers 25% of your screen. I'm trying out QKSMS and I see a little icon when I get a message, that's enough for me so I don't need an extra notification. It also sometimes pops up when I receive something from Facebook Messenger, but not always for some reason, which is also quite annoying. So is there any way to disable the heads-up notifications? Thanks in advance!
Agreed. I prefer notifications to be discreet. I don't want the contents of private texts to pop-up onscreen if I'm showing something to a friend/co-worker. It would be nice to be able to choose between the Kitkat style of scrolling ticker text in the status bar and L's heads-up notifications. Or to turn them both off and simply have the app icon appear in the status bar, requiring a notification shade pull-down to view the contents.
Choice is good.
I dislike it because often I can't deal with the notification straight away, but still want it in the notification draw for later. With these heads up notifications (which I get for EvolveSMS) I can't get it out the way without it being completely dismissed, it's annoying.
This could be solved with simply adding the function that swiping up will send it to the notification draw
Yeah I'm currently inclined to stick with KK until I know that the worst aspects of Lollipop can be controlled. Obviously in the absence of Xposed on ART it's difficult to make little tweaks here and there.
Heads-up is right at the top of my list. I have always liked how notifications NEVER attack my screen space in Android 2.0-4.4 and I'm not about to go along with a regression to iPhone-like behaviour. When I can disable it globally or on a per-app basis I'll be much more comfortable with the idea of upgrading.
My other biggest concern: The old Silent mode functionality was to allow user-configured audible alarms, while shutting off all other audible notifications and silencing all vibrations. The new modes, you have to choose between a None that also silences alarms, or a Priority mode that lets vibrations leak through.
It's kind of hilarious actually, this is the first time in history that I've been dragging my feet on an Android upgrade when all my less techie friends are upgrading. In the past I'd be proud to be the first one to upgrade and show it off to everyone stuck on the old version.
So, a few weeks later... Are there any ROMs or mods that allow users to disable the heads up feature entirely across the board?

I hate heads up, they are very intrusive, i prefer something more discreet...
I apololgize for bumping this old thread, but has there been any update with this? I'm looking for an SMS app that allows you to disable the heads up style pop-up notifications, but also allows you to reply from notifications. Textra and ChompSMS allow you to disable heads up notifications on Lollipop, but they dont allow you to reply from notification (like EvolveSMS, QKSMS). I'm looking for an app that incorporates both features. Any luck?
With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!

[Q] Disable/Remove Heads-Up notification in Lollipop, WhatsApp's specially

I really did not like Heads-up notification. It covers important screen area and I don't want to dismiss it only to continue what I'm doing.
Is there yet any way to remove/disable it? Further, if not, is there a way to actually make it happen, such as modifying some system apks? I'm willing to go through it only to disable this annoyance.
Looks like this rom has the option of disabling all heads-up notifications: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/rom-cataclysm-nexus-5-t2518660
I don't think your device is a Nexus 5, but you could try asking the developer how he did it it or something. But it is not available on the AOSP original rom.
Hi Gabriel, thanks for the answer. I've got a Nexus 4. I'm gonna ask the developer.

There is for some or other reason the has tied it to the notification tone, set it to silent then the heads up should stop and return to the ticker and led notification but with out sound.

Notification and Lock screen

So now that we have the new cm12 officially released i am having some issues with the new way notifications and the lock screen works.
To explain:
Whats annoying to me is that when i set my phone to vibrate only (so set sound profile to all) but with the settings to not show the messages on the lock screen, i cant see if i have any notifications at all.
The top notification bar will instead show my provider instead of the icons of lets say whatsapp.
Is there a way to change this?
Next to that have to admit that the priority thing is confusing to me,, i'm never sure what means what and what will actually happen with which setting.
The other issues is the lockscreen, i have a pattern protection setup, and waking the device up should bring me to this screen and not an extra useless lock screen where i have to swipe up so i can do my pattern.
I know its nice if you need quick access to an app like camera, but i dont want it.
anyway to change this?
i have no answer, but i also would like to change the way notifications appear on the lock screen.
i miss the icons in the notification bar. i don't want to see a large rectangle letting me know if there is a text or other notification.
the speed at which the pattern appears is cute the first time, but after that it's excruciating. would like it to just appear.
