Game controllers on Pixel not working - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

So I've successfully connected a PS4 controller to my pixel, both through bluetooth and wireless connections. However, when I try to use it for games or any input at all, the controller does not do anything. Is this a problem with Android 7.1 or with the Pixel? What should I do to fix it?

Noticed the same thing. Tested on my Nexus tablet and worked fine. Must be a 7.1 bug or pixel bug

What application are you using for this? Sixaxis?

None, just trying to use the controller. It should work without emulators.

Trouble bt pairing to my PS3 Sixaxis controller

Hi everyone. I really tried to do my due diligence on this before I posted. Everything I've read seems to indicate that ICS can pair PS3 controllers natively, with no need for the Sixaxis Android app, and no need for rooting. But I simply have no succeeded in doing so. I was trying with an older controller from the first generation of PS3s, and though that perhaps it was too old, so I went out and dropped $60 on a new official Sony Sixaxis Dual Shock 3, and I'm still have no luck. I have tried plugging the controller in by USB to the dock first, because some people seemed to indicate that that would help the two devices pair better. And while plugged in by USB, it works fine, I can map the buttons in emulators and use them with no problem. But when I unplug the control pad, hit the Sony button in the middle, and let the TF700 search for devices, it never finds my controller. It's found a Wiimote with no problem, but then of course it wants a pin, and that's its own problem. It's even found my Xperia Play on bluetooth, so I know it's not the bluetooth hardware. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Sixaxis obviously won't work since there's no root method. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is in fact a root method (look for debugfs, don't have the link handy), I use sixaxis and have my PS3 controller paired to my Infinity the day I got it.
I was able to use my PS3 Sixaxis controller on my TF101 with ICS (via bluetooth), but not on the TF700 for some reason.... It only seems to work while cabled (with the TF101, after using it for a minute as a "wired" controller, it automatically paired itself via bluetooth - after the first minute, you didn't need the cable anymore... Not sure why it doesn't work on the TF700. Strange...

It seems like (for whatever reason) Asus did not include the drivers for Ps3 controller in TF700. On my Prime and OG TF, it would automatically pair after using it once over USB. Not a big issues though as I had already purchased Sixxas app.
SixAxis app works great to connect the PS3 controller to the device, but it does *not* satisfy all requirements that the built-in drivers that other tablets and CM9 does. For example, I am an OnLive subscriber and the PS3 controller does not work whatsoever with SixAxis. However, I can plug it in via USB, or use a Xbox360 controller and they work great. This isn't a HUGE issue at the moment, but I did have dreams of having multiple Ps3 controllers and plugging the 700 in to my 60" on occasion. I have also found that when using the PS3 controller even with SixAxis' gamepad emulation, it often doesn't allow the right analog stick to function. At the moment, this is working much worse than on my TF101 w/ CM9 on it.

I wish I could run OnLive here in my country, because as far as I can tell, the app should behave exactly the same with OnLive when the 'Preferences->Gamepad Settings->Enable Gamepad' option is enabled. Evidently there are some differences that are causing issues. I'm not sure what problem you're having with the right analog stick, but you should ensure that you don't have any touch profiles enabled when in native gamepad mode, as they will override the gamepad inputs.
Can we expect Asus to resolve this (Bluetooth built-in connection) along with JB?

Don't get your hopes up.
About the only "viable" way I could see ASUS doing this would be if they made and marketed their OWN controller that could also be used with teh PS3 systems. But that would be still a limited market and would not be financially viable for them.
Well I thought I let you guys know pairing PS3 via the dock is working Idk if it's jellybean or clean room 2.3 feature but I have out working so far, check it out

Works also with stock JB.
Confirmed JB works
Just confirming that the JB update includes the drivers to use the SIXAXIS controller. I just got my TF700 and it wouldn't even detect the controller in ICS in the bluetooth menu, but it did respond when it was plugged in via USB.
Just updated to JB and plugged in the controller. As soon as I turned it on it added the controller to the paired devices list in the bluetooth menu and now it works flawlessly!
Cheers

Controller paired but not working

I want to connect my ouya controller to my Huawei Mate8. Everything looks fine and the controller is paired, but I can't make it work in any apps on the phone. I also installed controller setup app with the same result. Anyone know what the problem could be? It's updated stock rom and I have tried several controllers.

Using ipega game controllers with XZP

Hi all,
I have an ipega game controller (can't remember the model number) that used to work with my Nexus 6P. It's got issues connecting to my XZP though. It connects and works for a while but after that, there're no more inputs from the controller. The controller is still connected (via bluetooth) and shows up as an input device in the emulator (SNES9x Ex+) but it doesn't seem to be registering input. I've tried connecting my XBOX One controller to the XZP as well but it doesn't work. Is there something wrong with my set or is this Sony's doing?
EDIT: Turns out that after updating the phone with the July update, the controller works now. That's really weird but I assume something messed up with the previous one. This seems to be the only change I noticed with the phone that made it work. No matter how many times I restarted or paired/unpaired it wouldn't work.
My Xbox One v2 controller works fine via bluetooth and I use an app called Tincore Keymapper so I can use it in games.
Had a hard time finding an actually working app but Tincore Keymapper does the job amazingly.
Unless I totally misunderstood your post.

Ah. Mine doesn't connect through bluetooth. I have a USB C to Female A and I plugged it in through the cable. It used to work on my Nexus 6P. I'm wondering if it's because of the lack of drivers...
I'll go check out Tincore Keymapper though! Maybe that will help thank you!

[PAIR] Dualshock 4 over bluetooth

I tried to connect the DualShock 4 to my Oneplus 6 via bluetooth but after 30 seconds working properly, an imput lag appears and the controller becomes unusable.
I have searched the network and the error is common in many devices, but they all solve it with an application called Bluetooth Auto Connect.
But in OP6 it does not work, neither version 4.2.2 nor 4.5.4, none of the options that you select inside the application solves the problem.
Is there any way to correct it?
I have Android 9.0.2 rooted with Magisk + XXX 4.0 module.
thanks

What rom are you using? For me it is working on Omni except the x button... I tried changing the keylayout and everything but the x is not working. on my Nexus 5 it is working properly.

ow boy, I had this problem with the input lag on my nvidia shield device. I also used the bluetooth auto connect app to evade input lagg.
Interrestingly enough, I found out that a dualshock v1 works without problems and reduces input lag, but if I used a dualschock v2 the input lag kept coming back, therefore my sollution was to use a dual shock v1 version.
I just bought an iPega 9099 bluetooth gamepad and i must say that i am impressed, no latency at all, you can fin it for 25$ on amazon or aliexpress or gearbest, really happy with my purchase

hmm interesting, never tested on newer android systems like nougat or pie, only used on my shield tablet which has 7.0
on nougat the v1 was the only sullotion, but to be honest it is unacceptable to have input lagg on anny android system.
I hope there is a way to fix this !

Dualshock 4 no working

Dualshock 4 does not work after pairing. No game works. When I try to disconnect, I have to turn off bluetooth because it disconnects indefinitely. Can anyone check it out? I apologize in advance for the language, but write from google translate.
How old is the controller? From the launch ps4?

5 monat. PS4 PRO. The Samsung S7 works well.
Okay, then it is not the controller. The launch ps4 controller had a problem connecting to newer devices. I can't connect my old ds4 to my old s8+, p20 pro etc. The newer controller works. And your controller should be fine. Might be a bug in the Oneplus firmware.

This is definitely a software problem. I reported a bug on the oneplus forum.
