[Q] Importing Videos from GNex to Computer

Searched and couldnt find anything on this.
I am trying to import a bunch of photos and videos that I took with the GNex (4.0.2) to my computer (Win7 64bit). I have tried using MTP and also connecting my phone and using a media file importer (Windows Live Photo Viewer) and nothing seems to work. It is constantly freezing.
Anyone know any tricks to get this on my computer without using ADB?
Thanks...
Use a cloud service as an intermediate step. Upload the files from phone to Dropbox, for example, and download them from there to your PC.

[Q] Streaming content from PC to tab

Hello Chums,
Did a quick search here and everywhere else for that matter and couldn't find anything of help.
Basically we've purchased a trio of pads, I was testing one of them several days ago to see if it could get media from my HTPC, it could get music, pictures and videos. It was a fairly painless process, I already have home sharing on and allow devices connected to the network access to my media.
I tested in the default picture app, music app and video app > Nearby Devices > HTPC (everything showed up)
Today all the devices can see the music and pictures but none can see the videos. My videos are fully shared on the network, the homegroup is set up correctly, I've tried restarting all devices including the HTPC, I've reset the homegroup and permissions.
Feel like I'm banging my head on a brick wall, any idea what could be causing the videos not to show?
Thanks in advance.

Hey trem,
Thanks for the alternative but these tabs are for my 3 daughters aged 4,5 & 6. I don't want them to have access to the file system so I'd prefer to troubleshoot using the default video app as it means they can't get access to anything other than my default media libraries. Do you think you could help?

No 3rd party software, W8 with homegroup configured and sharing to devices enabled. Music, pictures and video libraries fully shared to network and the tab default picture and music apps pic up the share but the video app doesn't.
When I open the video app I can see the HTPC but it displays "no videos".
Ok round 2
The hard way
1st register to Samsung Apps on all the tablets
2nd You need to install on your PC Allshare Notification from samsung
3rd Update on the 3 tablets Allshare Play
www.allshareplay.com
Then you sign in to that web page (from your PC)
Whats going to be shared is on settings :
Registered devices
Setup the folder to share with registered devices
You must have your PC and the 3 tablets shown on Registered devices
If you still cant connect from the tablets , right click on the icon of allshare on your PC (next to the time bottom right corner)
Ckick nearby device connection settings and put on all the tablets allow.
You must use allshared to browse.
Good luck

My guess is its a way simple prob, ready?
Video format is not supported, In other words, try a 3rd party video app from the play store

There is a difference between network share and DLNA or UPNP shared. Folder shared on the "network" may not show up in DLNA devices which is what Samsung Allshare expects.
Check this article for tutorial on setting up DLNA in Windows . applies to windows 7 and 8. I use this and my video work great on the Sam Tab

[Completed] Stuttering on local streaming of videos with 40 Mbps bitrate

I am having problem with local streaming from external hard drive. Its mostly related to large files more than 4 Gigs or high resolution videos 2k or 360 , 180 scopes which need more than 40Mbps bitrate .first i thought is the router or harddrive problem .now im certain that the phone cant receive very high bitrate videos and get intrupted every now and then. I used different apps and transfer protocols and didnt work the only way is streaming directly from local memory .
I have no problem streaming 4k content directly from internet , i dont know why i cant do the same thing from my external hard drive. I can stream 4k without any problem from external hard drive to my pc or surface .
Anyone knows a way i could fix this?
Is it the android related problem or the phone itself ?
How the same phone can stream the same content over internet but not over local network ? You might say try plex and such and my guess is i have less problem with apps with dedicated servers but i need this to use with some cardboard player app for virtual glasses. Thanks

Transfer whole albums to PC

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to transfer whole albums from my android phone (LG G4) to my Windows PC. I use Google Photos as my app for managing images and creating albums within the app, but when I connect my phone to my PC via usb, I no longer see the albums but all the images mixed up. I figured there must be an app (diferent to google photos) which will allow me to do this. Do you know any? Or any other way to do this?
Thank you!
I just use seperate folders and Syncthing, it's open source too and works really well

Stream music on my phone from my computer hard-drive through 4G...impossible ?

Hello, so I'm looking for a way to play/stream music from my computer hard drive to my Android phone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 plus) when I'm away from home, with 4G connection...
I'm using a music player app which can play music from my phone internal storage as well as my PC (windows 7) shared folders but only on LAN with WIFI, but is there a way to do so on long distance ?
Desktop sharing/Remote control (like teamviewer...) seems to do so, but I tried some and it was suffering from many audio lag/stutter, maybe data transfer problems, probably because it was dealing with video transfer at the same time (which is something I don't care at all, I just want to access my huge mp3 collection on my hard drive)
Thanks for any suggestions !
Let's hope there is a way :cyclops:
