Do you use nova launcher?
I'm on marshmallow and have nova pro and get that notification, it's not a nougat thing. I've not tried disabling it, but yes it is annoying

Try to disable Peel remote. Or search it's settings. I think it was related to this app.

Nice workaround for notch notifications.
Full tutorial by developer of Super Notch here , u do need klwp pro apk for this to work though.
