How do I pair the S3 with Gear IconX? - Samsung Gear S3

I can't find a pairing mode. The Gear App does is seamlessly with the phone and IconX but need to pair it directly to the watch.

Use Bluetooth to exchange data or media files with other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
1. From the Apps screen, rotate the bezel to *Settings.
2. Tap Connections > Bluetooth.
• Bluetooth: Turn the Bluetooth feature on or off.
• BT headset: Search for Bluetooth headsets and connect them to the Gear.
Note: The headset can be only used for playing music on the Gear.

I've done that but it doesn't see the IconX. Is there a setting on the IconX I need to put the IconX into?

Have you done this?
Insert the earbuds into the charging case, close it, and then take out the earbuds.
Put the earbuds in your ears to enter Bluetooth pairing mode.
If the earbuds do not connect to a mobile device within three minutes, Bluetooth
pairing mode will be deactivated. To enter Bluetooth pairing mode again, insert the
earbuds into the charging case and close it. Then, take out the earbuds and put them
in your ears.

Does any one know if the iconx earbuds can be paired up with the gear fit 2? That is, may I stream music from te gear fit 2 to the iconx via bluetooh? Thanks!!

the real question should be, does the iconx connect to multiple device at the same time or only one at a time. now i cannot figure out how can i switch from the mobile to gear s3 as it seems it only connect to one and every time you want to switch you should go through the whole hassle of pairing it again from the box.

I'd be happy to just pair them with my Tab 4. Kind of sad they take something as standard as Bluetooth and cripple it, requiring an app and not allowing it to do a basic dumb pairing on anything Android. My tab 4 can see the IconX's. I put them in pairing mode but they won't pair unless it opens the gear app. But the app doesn't see them.
I honestly don't get it. A $150 pair of headphones can't pair to a tablet. Samsung says the Bluetooth profiles are not compatible.

Bluetooth headset not pairing

I have a new GN 10.1 and I'm trying to pair my Bluetooth headset to it.
In the settings | Bluetooth | Available devices,, the headset shows. But when I tap it, it says "Pairing rejected by [device]".
It does not prompt for the pairing code, but the headset uses the default of 0000, so maybe that's why.
The headset pairs fine with my desktop and with my iPod touch.
Any suggestions on how to get this working?

Check the users manual for your headset. It may have a limit on how many devices it can pair with. If so and if it's still paired to your desktop and your iPod, you may need to de-pair with one of those devices before it can pair with the note. What is the specific brand and model of your headset?

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought of. I turned off the Bluetooth on my iPod and desktop to be certain there was no way it was pairing to either. I also turned off and on the headset, though I have not tried resetting the GN, yet.

Bluetooth handsfree set for car

So, I have Nexus 4 and I want to make my car Bluetooth friendly. When I get in the car and bump NFC tag that is sticked somewhere in the car dashboard, Bluetooth on phone toggles ON and get connected to Bluetooth set in car.
I found this one on Ebay
nfc tag - http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-NFC-Tags-...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item27d2c5f3a8
hands free set - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Bluetoo...7?pt=UK_Car_Speakerphones&hash=item53fad82e39
Does someone have experience with this Bluetooth set, will this work ok? Do you have some better recommendation?

I have the Parrot Minikit Neo
http://www.amazon.com/Parrot-PF4100...1374116610&sr=8-1&keywords=parrot+neo+minikit
I have this paired along with my pebble watch, ODBII BT dongle, AND HTC Stereo Stick (A100) There's a A200 now but not sure what the difference is besides price lol. Anyway, the Neo can be paired via NFC and it's really easy. And the kicker is that the unit turns via vibration in the cabin and turns off after disconnection.
Before this, I had a blueant S4 and that worked pretty well, but the mic on the Neo is way better IMO. There's also an optional android app that you can use to record your own turning on msg and turning off message. I recorded me saying my child's name, so she gets a kick everytime I strap her in her car seat. It's funny lol.
Really nice set but little bit expensive...
Which app do you use for turning on/off msg ?

[TUTORIAL] How to use Gear 2 (Neo) in harmony with other Bluetooth devices

When I bought Gear 2 Neo a week and a half ago, I immediately faced the following issue: how the hell I keep using my Bluetooth earpiece for conducting phone calls? As cool as it looks talking to the Gear, it's not as convenient as wearing an earpiece, and I've been using those for the last 12 years. This new annoyance combined with an old one: when I'm in the car, I want my phone to automatically switch to the car in-built Bluetooth audio, both for phone calls and for media. I don't want to do this manually! And now, with the Gear, just think of the possibility of talking to the watch while driving the car!
Now, the Samsung phone owners have the luxury of being able to switch to the earpiece after picking up the call on the Gear. Not ideal, but workable. Still puzzles me though if you're able to choose a specific Bluetooth phone audio device if you have more than one (e.g. as with the earpiece and the car example). But we, the non-Samsung owners, don't even have this option. So finding a solution was due!
So, here are my use cases:
When I'm not in the car, I'd like the phone to be connected to the Gear all the time while not in the call. This makes sure I get all the notifications etc.
When not in the car and I'm engaged in a call, I'd like Bluetooth phone audio to switch to my earpiece as soon as possible. This automatically disconnects the Gear, meaning I'm no longer able to receive notifications on it. But this is not an issue, as, when I'm on the phone, I prefer not to be distracted anyway. At the end of the call I want Bluetooth audio to reconnect back to the Gear.
When I'm in the car, I'd like my phone to connect to the built-in Bluetooth phone and audio. I would like to stay it like this for as long as my car audio system is on. This means I won't receive any notifications on the Gear, but I reckon this is rather good while driving. When my car audio is off, I'd like the phone to automatically reconnect back to the Gear.
There are two pieces of software that helped me with achieving this:
Tasker. It's not free, but is worth every cent you spend on it. What's more, you can download a 7-day free trial to play with this guide before you commit to buying it.
Secure settings. All the functionality you need for this guide is included in the free version.
My triggers are:
Phone ringing or off hook and not in the car: connect to the earpiece
Phone idle and not in the car: connect to the Gear
Car application is launched (happens automatically when I plug my HTC One M8 into its car holder): toggle car mode on, which, in turn, connects to the car Bluetooth
Power disconnected (which is what happens when I turn car engine off or pull the phone from the car holder) and the car mode was on: toggle car mode off
Car mode switched off: connect to the Gear
Device boot: connect to the Gear
Now, you can import the attached file into Tasker on your phone and give it a go. You will need to go and replace the device MAC addresses and names with YOUR devices first (in Secure Settings configuration for each and every relevant task).
If you don't have in-car Bluetooth, just disable the corresponding profiles.
Now, there are some things that need improvement:
Right now I can't answer the calls on the Gear even if I want (e.g. if I forgot my earpiece at home or if it's out of battery). The reason for this is the way Secure Settings plugin performs BT Connect action: it disconnects the currently connected device first and only then tries connecting the other device. Also, there is no way to figure out if this connection was successful or not. I'm thinking of implementing a special toggle that will disable automatic earpiece connection on user request.
One scenario that is not properly implemented yet is switching from in-car BT to the earpiece while in the call (e.g. when you arrive at your destination while talking on the phone and want to live the car without disconnecting the call). Right now this requires manual intervention.
Unfortunately, Bluetooth connectivity of many devices is still quite buggy. I often find that, despite the fact the phone shows it's connected to the device, the audio is not going through. Or the device doesn't think it's connected (both happen quite often with my in-car BT). Usually, what helps in this situations is resetting Bluetooth on the phone or on the device or on both. I'm thinking of adding BT off/on action before any device switch just to improve reliability. However, sometimes the device needs to be reset, which may be easy (e.g. turning the earpiece off and on) or not (you can't turn the in-car BT off without stopping the engine).
That's all for now. Feedback is appreciated!
Great add thank you!

I'm having difficulty opening your file below. Do you open it using tasked, open via file explorer and edit or open via service manager. I also have the m8 and appreciate all the work you've done. I'm fairly new to tasked so figured it would be easier to change your file and then load it.

I have appradio 2. Is there a way to modify this to always disconnect the gear and connect the car radio when I plug in USB from the radio?
You can also accomplish all this with LLama profiles which is a free application
I ended up making my own. Was better as now I have some working knowledge of tasker and secure settings. I dont have Bluetooth in my car so was a little easier.
One thing I did add was a 5 second wait/delay so I can still look at who is calling on the watch, decide if i want to answer or reject from the watch and then if I do answer it automatically disconnects the Gear and allows you to talk through the phone or earpiece.
Thats my only addition as it maintains some function of the watch to allow screening of calls without pulling phone from pocket.
There is a bluetooth setting if you'll only use it for media or phone calls or both )

I need some resolve to me after the call is automatically disconnected BT Handset Gear2 but have remained constantly connected. Do with Timo anyone have experience? Thank you.
I solved this by using an nfc tag as a switcher! I bought an Nfc tag for just 25cents and I wrote on it with the free app Trigger... When I get in the car I swipe the phone on the nfc tag and it connects to the car BT and when I swipe the phone again it switches back to the gear!

[EDIT]
Hi,
I'm trying with Llama, can you give me some help?
I add a new condition "ringing", but I don't understand the related action. Per my understanding I need to disconnect the GEAR, but I cannot find the specific action.
Ok, I understand that is needed Secure Setttings, but I still not able to do what I need: when the action is executed, I need to disconnect gear...
Ok, now everything is OK.
Just to clarify for who is not able to import che xml for Tasker or just want to use Llama that is free.
It is necessary to install "Secure Settings" and to create a Local Plugin Action, involving Secure Settings.
In Secure Settings, selecting the BT connect/disconnect action, it is possible to select from a list of paired device on which of them perform the "connect/disconnect" action
Thanks a lot.

Bluetooth behavior?

On my Galaxy S7 Edge, when I had it connected to my Bluetooth earphones playing music, i'll start my car and my S7 Edge would seamlessly connect to the car without me needing to do anything. With the U11 it doesn't do this, it continues to play through my earphones and is a hassle to switch to the car. Is there an app or setting that can be changed so that I can make the U11 behave like the S7 Edge?
I also noticed the edge was super aggressive with holding the Bluetooth connection as when i tried to connect to my earphones while in the car, it would try to switch back to the car.
Sounds like with the U 11, it is doing its job. Holding on to the current connection. How would it know to stop play in the headphones and switch to car if you don't make. As with Edge that sounds more like a pain the butt, switching to different devices without your permission. I would stop connection with earphones and reconnect to car. Ultimately turning off earphones before entering car.

Until you enter the car with someone else, and the car starts to broadcast your conversation through its speakers...holding to the connection is definitely better behavior.

When a call comes in, I can answer it on my Bluetooth earphones. So that isn't a problem.

Reading into it looks like being able to connect to at least two devices at the same time should be normal. The U11 isn't doing that.

Do keep this in mind....phones can connect to two different devices... technically. When I connect my phone to the car, it has to connect the phone AND the media to the car. I know this because I was playing music from my Bluetooth speakers at home that don't support phone calls, and my wife pulled into the driveway, and called me. My phone was able to connect to the car, while still connected to the speaker (and the FitBit Alta on my hand).
Point is...phones can connect to different devices from different profiles simultaneously. Forgive my terminology, because I am not an expert in this department.

Bluetooth device to only let my phone know I'm in the car?

I want to find a way for my phone to automatically know when I turn on or off my car while I'm in it. I will use tasker to turn on and off my mobile hotspot when I'm in the car, so my echo dot ,connected to aux-in, can play music.

My car doesn't have bluetooth, so I have been looking for some sort of bluetooth device that will turn on and off with the car.
I don't want to use any type of bluetooth receiver since:
I'm already using my aux-in for my echo.
FM transmitter is also out since I'm switched to aux-in.
If I have the bluetooth receiver audio go nowhere, then I won't be able to hear my phone's GPS navigation.
I thought about bluetooth hands-free calling speakerphone devices, but the ones I've seen all use batteries, meaning it'll not turn off immediately when I turn off my car and will also probably need me to manually turn them on when I start my car. Anyone seen a batteryless version?
Are there any other bluetooth devices that run purely off usb power or off the car charger port?
I just tried the nonda zua smart charger that is suppose to connect to your phone when you turn it on. Only problem is that despite it showing up in the bluetooth device list, it doesn't seem to be a device that you can normally connect to. You have to install their app and the app somehow connects to it, even though the phone's bluetooth icon shows no active connections. Maybe the phone will only show a connection to devices it has supported profiles for. I can't even get tasker or android's smart lock to sense that the device is near.
Anything else out there? Is there a bluetooth input device that runs purely on usb? I have a selfie stick with a usb component that charges over usb and has an on/off switch, and I'm tempted to test if I can power it with the internal battery and have it turn on automatically when power is supplied. But I don't want to break my only selfie stick yet.
I suppose I can pair some usb-powered speakers to a bluetooth receiver so that I hear my phone over the speakers. Any recommendations? Of course, the speakers must not have batteries.
Found this:
It's actually a bluetooth speaker that doesn't have a battery. No idea if it will auto-pair when usb power is on or if the lamp can be turned off.
Can't you use an NFC tag on your car mount? When you mount your phone it hits the NFC tag and since you use Tasker you can set it to do what you want when you touch the NFC tag.

I may not always mount my phone and it may just stay in my pocket. And I would need to remember to hit the NFC again when I leave my car to 'automatically' turn off the hotspot. I also sometimes forget to take my phone with me and was going to have the phone alert me when the car is off.

I'll look into that. I need it automatically connect to my phone without the need to install an app. I don't want to face the same issue as with the nonda car charger, which requires the app to be running constantly to connect and it somehow can connect without android showing a bluetooth connection to it.
I've decided against obdii adapter because I am unsure if android has a built-in profile to automatically connect to it without the aid of a third party app to constantly monitor bluetooth. And they are rather expensive, especially for the ones that are smart enough to go to sleep and not constantly be powered on and drain the car's battery.
There are some speakerphone adapters that don't use batteries so I'm going to try one of them and connect them to usb-powered speakers. Going from a Nexus 6P to a Pixel XL, I'm finding the speakers are now rather weak and adding external speakers will help with GPS navigation.
It seems to me the easiest thing to do would be to upgrade your car stereo. By the time you're done with all of these workarounds, it might be cheaper, too.
Either that or ditch the echo dot and use the phone to replace it's functionality. I'd go to an auto audio shop and see if they could install an ignition switch controlled power source running a proper Bluetooth to aux adapter and compare that to the cost of a new head unit.

Do they make car stereo units that can mix multiple sources like aux-in and bluetooth?
I've had a cheap ODBII scanner in multiple cars for years and never had a battery drain issue. I honestly can't remember if my phone auto connects to it or not, last time I tried to read from it I couldn't because the latest Android beta update broke the connection.

You're missing the point, android auto will do your music and satnav prompts over usb. No need for the echo dot at all.
Rockford fosgate "rfbtaux" cheap reliable and will do what you need
You can use an OBDII adapter for detection
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kanetik.bluetooth_profile_condition&hl=en
You can set the condition to activate your task when its near the adapter
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kanetik.movement_detection&hl=en
I just learned they also have this app that should bypass the need for the hardware.
These apps are not free, $1.49 each. I can vouch for the bluetooth detection app, might try the movement one.
I bought this for my car and it turns on when there is no key in the ignition and off automatically when the key is pulled out.
