Galaxy S6 Format in ext4 internal memory - Android General

Hello guys,
I want to convert my internal storage from my S6 to EXT4. I have tried this. But this guide is not working with the S6:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-format-ext4-internal-memory-data-t2852815
The problem is that TWRP (3.0.2-1) not work. The storage is not visible in recovery mode. I have no access in parted magic.
I need the EXT file system to create a symbolic link to the internal storage. But the filesystem from the internal storage is
not compatible to symbolic links.
Has anyone an idea?

formating external SD in ext4 ?

Hi !
I just installed the Lag Fix in my Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000B and looks like it is fine.
As far I understand, the lag fix patch formats the internal SD as ext4 to have more stability and speedy.
So I am wondering if the external SD card would have similar benefits if I format it as ext4 too.
I don't have a spare external SD to check it my myself, so if anyone could provide any information, would be nice.

Hi
I have an external sd card and i want to have a second partition in ext4, to put somme date on it (larges files)
i read and test since 15 days and what i can said is
you need to have a first partition (primary in fat32 on the sd card)
the second partition in ext4 is not seen by android os !!! I mean, there is no way to mount automaically these partition at boot and use it.
I have found a old lagfix from mimocan which mount external ext4 , but it is to store applications as we do in sdcard. I do believe we can use for data but it is old now we have kernel and rom with ext4 in native mode and i don't find how use ext4 on external card for data instead of program (with link2sd for exemple)
link2sd or app2sd only works with internal sd card !

[Q] 4ext vs 2nd partition on SD card

Hello,
I have secondary partition on my SD card with ext4 filesystem on it.
With help of Link2SD i can use this partition for installed apps.
So the question is, when i create a backup with 4EXT (currently installed) or CWM does it include links and actual files from the SD card?
Got also a ext and ext1 seems to be a strange mounting problem..
It works but s2e cannot find the ext patition..

Hi,
4EXT nandroid backup takes a complete snapshot of your phone system, settings, data, and apps.
It does NOT make a backup of your sd card.
So, I would think that if you restored the backup, and you had not moved the apps in your ext4 partition, then they would match up again.
Why are you using an ext4 partition, anyway?
Isn't 1 GB of space on the phone enough for you?
software logic
well,
in linux filesystem, and in windows nowdays too, any storage can be mounted anywere, so if backup software differentiate external storage vs internal storage, it probably should follow symlinks and backup application from extended filesystem as well.
it could be a feature request

How to format internal memory?

I accidentally formatted data under TWRP and now the internal memory won't accept files larger than 4gb.
How do I format the internal memory to another filesystem?

I would not expect that Android works at all with /data on a FAT32 partition - are you sure that it's not ext4? The problem could also be somewhere else. Please post the output of "mount|grep /data" (e.g invoked using adb shell).

[Q] use link2sd with internal sd

I have a rooted Xolo q700i phone. I've installed a external sdcard and which is shown as sdcard0 in /storage. In /storage there is also sdcard1 which is i think internal sdcard. I am not using this internal sdcard. Since my internal memory is full, I want to use this internal sdcard with link2sd.
Can someone please help me with this.
- How to create partition in internal sdcard?
- How to use internal sdcard with link2sd?
I don't want to use my external sdcard for this as that one is nearly full and I have to remove it sometimes.
Thanks
