Setting phone back to defaults for dummies - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It doesn't appear anybody knows what to do with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-assist/incoming-calls-answered-vener-make-to-t3500914 and I now have to go back to full factory stuff with no custom recovery and stock os to find out if this is a hardware issue. I did a TWRP restore from several months ago when the phone worked fine and it still has the incoming call issue from the link above. Did a factory wipe in Teamwin, same thing.
Rooted Sprint Galaxy S6 on Lollipop 5.1.1 with Teamwin recovery

Please pretend than I am a not particularly precocious ten year old who needs to make this phone as if I just took it outta the box. I have searched here and around the web. All I find elsewhere are paid download sites or 3 hour downloads and here I can't make heads nor tails out of the volumes of impressive information in these forums.
I do have PC skills, and this is my first smart phone and getting it rooted and the recovery installed and all that wasn't too tough back when I got it 15 months ago. It appears restoring it back to stock is quite a bit tougher.
I have to see if incoming calls still don't work when the machine is totally stock. Is there a way to do this without a 3 hour download and a masters in computer science? I sure would be most grateful for any help with this.
Thank you.

You can simply do "Rescue firmware" via Smart Switch.

Thank you sir! I will have a look at this a bit later tonight when possible.

This won't work with Teamwin recovery right?

I have none of the boot options in this video. Not that I don't appreciate it.

I have none of the boot options in this video (TeamWin). I also have totally different options in SmartSwitch. Not that I don't appreciate it. It doesn't have an option to search like the video says and already has an upgrade in there. I deleted my google accounts like it said and now I have this:
http://tiribulus.net/pix/Phone/smartswitch.jpg
Root will mess up the mobile phone, but the whole point is getting rid of root and fixing the mobile phone. . Again, it's not that I don't appreciate the help, but this is what I've been going through. None of the instructions I find match what I have,.

I appreciate that sir, but like I say, I never get step 4. It doesn't exist for me. As soon as I click the device initialization tab I get this:

}
If I proceed, I get this:
It tells me the update may fail if it's rooted and being unrooted is one of the goals of this. It also says that the mobile phone function may not work, but it's exactly the mobile phone function that's not working now and I've been trying to fix. That's what started this whole thing:

You won't do anything on TeamWin.
1. Open Smart Switch on PC.
2. Turn Off the phone. Press Volume down (not up) & Home button & power button. When you see the warning screen, just press volume up once. If you see "Downloading" screen, plug into PC
3. Do "Rescue Firmware" via Smart Switch.
Thats it.

Well they had to write that, because if something happens during flashing it is not their fault, and you have been warned.
You can also uninstal supersu, and download that same fw Smart Switch would install from another internet source, and it will probably be a painfully slow download, but that is up to you.
I cannot guaratee you that Smart Switch emergency initialization would solve your phone issues, but it is the way to unroot and for the phone to become officially stock, offcourse knox will stay tripped if it was tripped during rooting (and probably is, unless you are on 5.0.2. and were using ping pong root).
I used Smart Switch emergency a lot, and it was always succesfull, just follow instructions, connect your phone in dowload mode when it asks for it, and there should be no problems getting to stock.
...I saw just now, in your other topic that you have fixed it /thumbs up!

Anyways. I rooted my phone so I could delete the useless Samsung all shair and other stupid services like that from my phone, then i started to delete other stuff off my phone, it eventuly broke notifications, and i was no longer alertaed about texts.
The next day i desided to do a factory wipe from the phones menu its self.....NOT SMART. because i had changed out my launcher and deleted the orginal one it came with, so after it was done the factory restore i could only go in the settings... kind of useless. and when i looked at the apps i had installed, there were alot of apps at 0b,
now, I had!!! clock work recovery mod... but i never made a backup or anything.like a smart person should anyways I did a factory restore from there, and now my phone no longer has clock work recovery mod, and it informs me it must be conected to samsung kies now, and that failes to work. my computer sees it but cant conect properly, I've tried with a few diffrent usb wires and another computer, so thats not a problem,
now the phone still shows up in odion, and i can put it in download mode still, so where do i go from here?
I amuse my phone is totally empty
I feel rather stupid and well if theres a way to even get a custom rom on there that'd be cool.

Ok first of all..always remember search button is your friend..you wouldn't need to post also if you search once.
ok now second, dont worry your phone is not dead and its very much possible to revive it. Ok start from here http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-S7560M.
I wont tell you how to flash from Odin as you can easily search here and there are several tutorials here on that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539
Important thing to keep in mind is this. Don't cross flash a rom not meant for your phone. and even if u do make sure you dont overwrite the bootloader or preloader of your phone. As long as your phone will get detected by usb,your phone can be revived.
happy flashing
Wow, well i wasent shure what that samsung site was about but figured it out on my own with out the guide. odin aint hard to understand besides where to put what...
There was no koodo file so i took telus, (telus and koodo are the same) it seemed to work fine
any ways, its almost all done installing, I hope it works, its been like 4-5 days now,
Yeah I'm no good with search....
.... Anyways, It flashed properly and my phone actualy booted woah..... Awsome!!!
well atleast i have my phone back... .
anyways is there a custom for this phone? thats another think i have a problem finding, ... and the ones i find, they have dead links,
GT-S7560GSMH dead - please help!
Friend gave me GT-S7560GSMH to change rom in his telephone. I changed to CM11 4.4.1 but it was problem with camera it was taking pictures 90 degrees angle. Then I decided to try to flash other rom. But I try first change the recovery since there was some problems with recovery. So change to other version of CWM or TWRP or something else. I flash through CWM some recovery zip file and after that the telephone became completely dead. No any signs of life at all. Trying buttons for download mode and recovery mode, removing and put battery back, nothing at all, no signs of any life. Please tell me there is any way to resurrect the phone? To bring back to life? It is not my phone. I wish I could give back living phone not a dead phone. Hope to hear any help from you. Thank you,

[Q] Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 (SM-G388F)

This is the first phone I've purchased without it's own seperate section on XDA. As I'm no developer, I've always simply jumped on XDA, found the appropriate root/custom boot recovery/ROM development threads, but it doesn't seem like there's any info our there for this phone. Google searches only returned spam/malware/fake root methods.
I understand not being a developer, I have no right to expect others to create roms/develop anything for this phone.... but is there a general way to at least attain root access for Android phones?
Thanks for any help you guys can offer
I'm also looking for a way to root my g388f. Also find only a lot of junk when I google for this.
Yesterday I came across this info, annyone who can verrify if this works or not?

for me the same, i Need the root for changing the non working sap Profile ....
sap Profile out of the box was the Point why i purchased the phone ...
I already spoke to the Samsung Support, they tell ist the fault of vw ...
but it testet the sap with another android phone (S2) works fine out of the box
Even I am looking for root method for XCover 3. towelroot, Kingo IRoot are not working
Even with a large amount of requests in the cfroot thread, it seems that no one is interested in making any form of auto root for this phone.
Anyone know of a universal, manual method that can root our phones?
I am also looking for root access, or lolipop, I need to write to my SDcard..
Any news? I am trying to root my phone but after extensive googling I can't find it. I tried "everything" but it does not work.
Working root
Hi
I used this guide and it worked for me. Used the Odin method.
The guide for Odin is not that accurate, amoungst other things it tells you to use the "AP" to load the image you downloaded. In my Odin i used the "PDA". Also the setup guide for disabling "Re-partition" and "PIT table" is not correct.
But if you are used to using Odin, you will figure it out. Anyway, it worked for me.
Follow the link at the bottom and download the Super SU, before rooting. This saves you a reboot.

Hi guys... Is someone know where to get network or sim unlock script?.
Root Galaxy X Cover 3
Recently I got my X Cover rooted !!
It costed me sometime, but it works !
I've got a package of 11 MB with all the tools !
Now the phone says it's rooted
How can I post the package here, ive got it on Filedropper, but I cant post urls here......

Not working with Lollipop?
Hi guys,
I successfully used the method above to root the phone when it was on Android 4.4.
Now I updated to 5.1.1 and the method doesn't seem to be working anymore.
After I flash TWRP with Odin and (immediatly) try to boot into recovery I get the message: "recovery is not seandroid enforcing", and nothing else happens.
Any ideas? I didn't find anything with google or here on xda and there doesn't seem to be any newer version of TWRP than 2.8.7.0-xcover3ltexx.img.
I'd be grateful for any help!
So if I'll update to lp I'll loose rooting & twrp.. Bad indeed... I'm very tempted to buy this phone after my xcover 2 breaks down but with zero roms I think I'll wait some other time... Thanks for any info!

Hi, I have huge problem with my xcover3, I tried to flash a rom from sammobile, but it was wrong region I suppose, and the odin procedure failed and ended up messing with the bootloader, the device doesn't start at all, no logo no recovery, no download mode, nothing, it only just vibrates when I press any key combination, which means it's not completely dead.
What should I do? I think the only way to fix this is to boot somehow from microSD card, is there any way to do that, or anything else I can do, I even tried the usb jig and same result.
Xcover 3 root with LOLLIPOP
Somebody knows a way to root Samsung Xcover 3 with LOLLIPOP 5.1.1 ?

Really confusing softbrick (small reward offered for fix)

TLDR: LGUP will just straight up not recognize my G5 no matter what. I'll give you five bucks on Paypal for a solution, if that means anything.

Hi guys, I try to avoid posting, but I've searched high and low for an answer and I really can't find it.
I've got a T-Mobile LG G5 H830, that I have recently rooted and installed TWRP on it. Last night, I decided to try changing a value in build.prop, stupidly without making a backup first and after I changed the value and rebooted, stuck at T-Mobile bootscreen, go figure. All I did was change a value from false to true for adoptable storage..
Anyway-- I tried factory resetting, I tried flashing that FLUENCE rom I found somewhere here on XDA, I've tried just about every thing I could, before I gave up and decided it would be easier to just revert back to stock and unroot. I wasn't really utilizing root for more than Titanium Backup anyway.
To the point; I've got the LG UP program installed, I've got the DLL for it installed and inserted, and the appropriate .tot file to flash it back to factory default. No matter what I do, no matter how many different COM ports I try, different drivers I've tried etc, I cannot get it to read my phone in download mode. ADB mode works in TWRP still, but this is driving me insane. The only other phone I have is a busted up BlackBerry Priv, and I want this phone working again asap.
If someone can shed some light on whatever the hell I'm doing wrong, it would mean the world to me.
Please.
P.S: yes I've tried just about every USB port on my computer, and I've tried restarting Windows many times.
you have tried jiggling it?
You know what? Hell, if someone finds me a working solution to my problem, I will personally paypal them five dollars. I just want this fixed. I've had LG G3s brick on me obnoxiously and then never come back from it, I don't know what it is about LG phones.. Samsung phones, Nexus phones, and basically any other Android phones I've worked on aren't nearly this hard to restore and repair.

Use the twrp restore file in the development thread it will revert your build prop back, and from there your phone will work again. Editing build prop is not advised on the H830 has been discussed on numerous threads even before root was established. At least it's only a soft brick .
Have you tried jiggling it perhaps?
so did @wolfu11 get the 5 bucks? his solution should have fixed it.

Not holding my breath lol. That's why I declined any of the root bounty.
Try manually pointing to either the lg drivers, or adb drivers had that same problem when trying to root H830.
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
IDK if u fixed it or not, but i have a simular issue where LGUP does not recognize my phone. i'm guessing it could be the buildprop could have broken it. i have factory reset my phone, but upon turning on wifi, the phone crashes and i need to factory reset. i am rooted and retain root. My guess is that changing the buildprop causes the phone to be unrecognized. I did backup my buildprop but its stuck in an encrypted backup. Thanks alot gooogle...
Same problem here
I am having the same problem but I never touched my build prop. I rooted and decided to install cm14. When i flashed, none of my partitions are mounting and phone would not boot. I put stock back on and flashed tot and tried mounting partitions and nothing. Now computer doesn't recognize it as well as it will not boot into recovery or android.
I have seen this and I think I fixed it by disabling one of the two, in device manager. 1st listed, iirc.

Can't flash custom TWRP recovery image on Motorola Moto G7 Power phone

I've got a brand new Motorola Moto G7 Power running Android 9.
I also have Ubuntu 19.04 running on my desktop.
I want to root the phone.
I've managed to unlock the bootloader using Motorola's online instructions and the adb and fastboot utilities that come with Linux.
The next step is to flash a custom recovery application on the recovery partition.
I'm trying to flash twrp-3.3.0-0-river.img, a new image that I grabbed from here.
When I tried to use fastboot to flash the image, I got this error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After this failed attempt, I attempted to put my phone into recovery just to see what would happen.
What I got was a screen displaying the Android mascot on its back with its chest plate opened and a black exclamation point inside a red triangle.
The words "No Command" were displayed underneath the graphic.
After waiting a few minutes, the phone, on its own, booted normally.
My phone's OS seems to operate perfectly fine.
I can only surmise that whatever was originally on my recovery partition from the manufacturer has been wiped and there is now nothing on the recovery partition at all.
So, I decided to see if I could boot into the TWRP image directly without flashing it.
So, I ran this in the terminal window: fastboot boot twrp-3.3.0-0-river.img
I received this as a response:
There didn't seem to be any errors.
The phone, however, switched from the bootloader screen to the Motorola splash screen, and then just shut off with no further response.
So, what am I missing?
How can I flash this image onto the recovery partition of my phone?
this is normal
this is normal between recovery and when it looks like that android doll click on the button off and on the volume button up together and release the volume button and soon after releasing the power button and will appear the recovery stock
I'm exactly where you are my friend. Have you found any solutions, though?
Also, when my phone boots up it shows "bad key" and it seems to take a little longer to boot, but everything runs fine once it does.
I can only assume that these TWRP files don't work on this device/model. Thing is, I don't even wanna run a custom ROM, I just want to make a simple change to a root file to get the cast feature working on any smart TV, as Motorola has it disabled by default. I've tried patching the boot.img file using magisk, but when I try to flash it on to the cell phone I run into an error. I guess we're gonna have to wait until the official TWRP version comes out for this device. But if you find any other solution, please, do let me know. Thanks!
Guys next time please actually search for how to root the device you own. Or at the very least go to the GUIDES forum that is on the G7 Power page you had to go through to post this thread. The TWRP image you have is extremely alpha, which is why it's stuck in the Telegram group and not yet posted here on XDA.
Typically I'd tell you to use the search function but I'm honestly worried that you're going to brick your phone by randomly flashing things you haven't researched, to do things you don't understand, and to access features you don't know how to use. Recovery has had close to the same button combination for years (either holding volume up or down and power).
Because I'm scared you'll actually make your device a heavy paperweight here's the link, but please in the future research more. You are after all making system level changes that could destroy your device if done wrong or the wrong file is used. Not trying to attack you, just stating the truth.

Hey guys, just a piece of advice. Please read everything and research everything related to your device and everything related to the procedures you want to execute. After you gather all that info/knowledge then proceed to execute what you have learn. And please verify every single file be sure is targeted to your specific device if it's not DO NOT FLASH IT you will end with "pretty fancy paperweight" that means a damage permanently broken device.
Lately there has been a crowd of "New Blood" coming registering to the forum and most of them are not reading or following instructions. Please ask old/experienced members we are here willing to help new members in all we can, but first try to use the search function and be sure about what I stated in the first paragraph then you have the second option our support. Welcome to the family and happy flashing.

Exactly. I don't mind new members coming in at all, and am happy to help when I can, but you need the right mindset if you're going to make changes to the actual system files of a relatively expensive device. New members please be ready and willing to search every time you have a question and have the patience to spend the time needed to fully grasp the procedures, and imo not just how to do what you are trying to do but to also understand what happens to which files when you do it and why those changes have to be made. Please help, Samsung A11 - TRWP problem

Hi everyone,
Recently I purchased and Samsung A11. I wanted to root it and unlocked the bootloader first. Than I used Odin to install TRWP recovery. Odin showed "PASS" and I was supposed to press certain buttons which didn't work. Phone kept coming back to "Download Mode" although I pressed those buttons. So I was stuck. The only option was to cancel the download mode, so I pressed volume down + power button for more than 7 seconds. That was the end Now the phone turns on until I see the Samsung logo, there's a small vibration but it can't go forward. It resets back and now stuck in a loop. None of the buttons work including Volume Down+Power combination. Don't know what I am supposed to do now. Can anybody help?
Thanks...
1. Add Samsung A11 to this thread's title thus mainly owners of such a phone get addressed
2. My recommendation: Re-flash STOCK ROM to get rid off of all mods you applied.

As I can see you are proud owner of a softbricked phone.
Take it to authorized service center and let them fix it.

Yeah, veeeery proud
I plan to let it die on battery and will try to see if I can turn on "Download Mode" after recharging. Do you think it may work?

it wouldn't ... usually the cause of bootloop is certain corrupted partition and as long as that partition is corrupted it would keep bootlooping.
if you doesn't know what your doing your best bet is Take it to authorized service center and let them fix it. like what @jwoubeir said
I don't have the A11 model but have used this on other A models that were in the same loop.
Press the volume up and down at the sametime and plug in the usb cable.
This has to be done within a second or two after it vibrates and before it reboots and will likely take a few tries. Good Luck

great tip work on ADB too anyway OP is provably using sp flashtool since his phone is samsung so this method would be rather tricky
Yayy, I managed to get into the "Download mode" doing exactly how @sammiev told and I tried flashing another TRWP file thinking that might have caused the problem but nothing has changed. Same loop again ! So I flashed the original ROM back using Odin and it's back live again Thanks for the help guys. But to be honest, I am still curious. What might be the problem in not getting TRWP flashing going right?

Used that method of a few peoples Samsung phones. Worked for me every time. It's just to get the timing right.
Sure you have the correct TWRP?

I tried again from scratch with a new TRWP file and the result is the same. Odin shows "PASS" but the "Download Mode" screen gives the error as in the photo:

My phone model is A115F and I downloaded the TRWP file from this link:

The version I used is "twrp-3.5.0_10-3_afaneh92-a11q.tar"
I also tried rooting with Magisk without the need of TRWP installation. That was also unsuccesfull. Odin was PASS but I got bootloader screen saying Secure Check Fail : vbmeta
Here's the screenshot of Magisk fail in "Download Mode"
Can't figure out what's wrong ...
Have you flashed the latest stock rom to this device?
Was there other TWRP files for this model?
Is other people having trouble with this model?
I never worked on A11 Samsung yet
I would hate to give you bad info and have you brick your phone.

Following your advice, I managed to get into the Download Mode and I flashed the original rom. So phone is up and running now but not rooted. So I've been trying to root again first with Magisk to bypass the need of TRWP installation and with others which need TRWP installation first. There seems to be something blocking the flashing of anything other than the original rom !! On the link I shared above, there are other (older version) TRWP files. Shall I try them?

Usually the latest TWRP with the latest firmware.
Check my profile, your KG stated is ****ed. There is nothing you can do about it, there is abosulutly no way to fix this without unsoldering the eMMC and resetting it entirely. Some people on 4PDA had the same problem and found no fix. I was hopping to develop a custom rom but I cant as my kg state is prenormal. This mexican dude on youtube fixes devices with KG and FRP issues, but yeah this aint something that you can do at home. At least I learned not to buy any samsung devices in the future https://www.youtube.com/c/TeamOcmineMMCBootRepair
edit: nvm your oem is unlocked, you can just flash the vbmeta reset script via odia and everything should flash fine.
