I have same problem, I can't send any MMI commands, even like *#06# to read IMEI. Went to Verizon store, most phones were same way that had Jelly Bean.
Was this disabled? How can I enable?
Been digging around, can't find any help on it.

I bought a blacklisted galaxy alpha, the seller wont take it back.
I tried to all the guides how to change Imei (MTKdroid Tools, mobileuncle tool, Chamelephon, Imei changer and etc)
I spent 2 straight days trying to fix the problem but I came to conclude that those method is not supported for Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850W)
If anyone know how to mod Imei on galaxy alpha, please help me!!
Changing imei numbers is illegal in most areas and definitely not discussed on XDA. Sorry you bought a bad phone, but you won't find help with it here.

Phone suddenly got the error stating " Not registered on Network"
Everything else working fine, but not able to make calls or use mobile data.
Samsung service people say that motherboard needs to be changed, lost IMEI and unknown bus band something.
Rooted my phone as suggested on online forums, downloaded busy box installer and installed Ariza patch but no change.
Please help
