[Q] Ext2 partition problem

Hey guys I have a problem with link2sd on my rooted HTC legend.I have made a ext2 partition of 500mb with easeus but when I start link2sd it asks me which file system I want want for the 2nd partition so I select ext2 but then I get an error ''mount script cannot be created not enough memory".also when I look in drive watch I see that 0mb/0mb is free of the 2nd partition. So my question is how to fix this.
I really need some help.........
maybe ext2 is not compatible with your system. try upgrading your ext2 partition to ext3 and see if that works!
link2sd?? isnt app2sd
Thanks for the response but when i format the ext2 partition to ext3 it doesn't seem to work either when i start up link2sd and select ext3 i get an error message"ext3 is not supported".If this won't work i'm willing to try data2ext but i don't know if it will work on my rom i currently have the b 0.7(stock htc froyo with root)rom. So that is another question.Do you guys know if it will work with my rom or maybe i need to mount my ext2 partition can you guys give me the command how to do this?

[Q] EXT3 or EXT4 for SAGA LBC MOD

Hi all,
as I have not yet enough thraeds I can't post in the Development section. As the new SAGA LBC MOD V.0.6 is on the way (I am using 0.5.4) I would like to know how my partitions should be formatted using this mod?
Should everything be EXT4 or EXT3 or even a mixture as I have today.
I have flashed the recovery and I am now on 4EXTRecovery v2.1.0 which shows following FileSystems
system ext4
data ext3
cache ext3
sdcard fat32
When SAGA LBC MOD v0.6 is out I want to start from scratch with a perfect configured device.
Please advice what I should do.
THX
LBC Mod fully supports ext4, there is no reason to use ext3 for any partition as ext4 offers some performance increase. SD stays fat32 of course, there is no need for sd-ext on our phone.
Thanks for your quick answer.
I will then partition my Filesystem to EXT4.
Thank you.

Don't worry about doing any specific partitioning, ensure that you're using the correct RECOVERY EXT4.
If you're not then download EXT4 Recovery if you don't already have it and use CWM to flash it.
There is an option in EXT4 recovery which will show you the type of all of your partitions and another option that will convert any EXT3 to EXT4 without data loss.
Although the LBC WIPE script that it is recommended that you run before you flash LBC v0.5.3 will pre format all of these partitions in the correct format (EXT4) before you flash the ROM!

[Q] Is Ext3 or Ext4 Partition required for S3-Evolution-Beta3.1-Ultimate rom ?

[Q] Is Ext3 or Ext4 Partition for S3-Evolution-Beta3.1-Ultimate rom ?
Is Is Ext3 or Ext4 Partition for S3-Evolution-Beta3.1-Ultimate rom for galaxy ace s5830?
This is the post where they have mentioned it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1775257
Do we need Ext3 or Ext4 Partition for S3-Evolution-Beta3 ultimate only or we need it for S3-Evolution-Beta3.1 as well. Just to be sure in this case. Is it compulsory for S3-Evolution-Beta3.1 or we can do the normal wipe data and partition and install it from zip.
Can anyone provide me answer to this question?

[Q] When formatting EXT4 Partition, It doesn't stay?

I tried using MiniTool Partition Wizard to format my android sd card, I split the first half to be fat32 and the second half to be ext4, when I do that though the ext4 partition doesn't stay... I even tried twrp to partition it, to no avail it said it wasn't able to create the ext4 partition but the fat32 partition was made successfully.
**NOTE**
Apparently, you need a swap partition to be able to have ext4? Well, I created one and now everything works fine and dandy, before I didn't have one and it worked great...
You dont need swap for ext partitions.. there is no connection between them.
I dont know much about those tools but if you create partition through recovery.. first it makes ext2 partition later you need to upgrade it to ext4.

If I could post link I would, but since I cannot mostly because to the site I'm not a developer (stupid rules) and claims I cannot post anything truly helpful, so as an effect cannot post links to my recovery.
My recovery (ZenGarden 2.0.2.7-T) can create an ext2, ext3 and ext4 partition; the use chooses which format and because of Windows limitations you cannot have more then two partitions on an external drive.

[Completed] [Q] Help with CWM partitions

Hey guys, i'm running CWM recovery v6.0.4.7. In the recovery, i see many partitions under 'Mounts and storage' like:-
/boot
/system
/cache
/data
/persist
/firmware
/sns
/data and /data/media (/sd card)
Would someone care to explain what's inside these partitions and what are the risks if i format them ? Also can someone explain which all partitions are changed when i flash a ROM/kernel etc ?? Thankyou :good:
Hi there,
This thread here ( [REF] CWM - Clockworkmode menu options & Partitions– GENERAL KNOWLEDGE) gives you a lot of the information you are looking for. Though this is in the S2 section the principles are all the same so you can ask questions in that thread.
NO hope there
That thread was last updated in May. And i only want to know about /persist, /firmware, /sns more importantly, which i searched everywhere but could'nt find. Any help would be appreciated

I would suggest asking in the thread linked above.
Also asking here may be useful: Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Please keep in mind also that the partitions you are talking about are extremely important to the device, messing with these areas could lead to irreversible damage.
Yes i do understand that these partitions are vital for the proper functioning of my phone. But i would love to know which all partitions are changed when i flash a ROM. For eg: I formatted /boot partition once, but flashing a custom ROM immediately restored the necessary files and i was up and running again. Only later did i discover while reading a post that /boot partition consisted of the kernel and the RAMDISK, which is included in every ROM zip file.
Thank you and thread closed!
