Here's the thing. I want to flash new firmware via Odin but I'm afraid of what would happen if God forsake the USB cable accidentally unplugged or the PC went off when the process of installing firmware is in progress. If that were to happen can I restart the process again or will my galaxy s6 be hard bricked? I've heard of cases of hard bricking when Odin firmware flashing is interrupted. Is this true? Also using smart switch is not an option because the Internet is very slow and I have downloaded the stock firmware for galaxy s6 flat g920f. I would appreciate some guidance here. Regards

Here is the situation, I tried to flash a stock Skyrocket with CWM via Odin, and Odin keeps saying write failed. I then tried different USB ports, restarted the computer many times but still no luck.
This computer flashed SGS3 and Hercules before with no issue. I've also tried different USB cable. Now whenever I book the phone it said i need to connect to Kies to update. I can't even get into the stock recovery. The only thing i can get into is Download mode but Odin will not flash anything. How can I resolve this?
Please help!
Thank you.
RESOLVED:
I flashed the wrong ROM =D The phone is AT&T Galaxy S2. I kept thinking it was called the Skyrocket hence i download the wrong rom and recovery. That explained why Odin wont flash! After a while i realized the i-727 on the rom doesnt match the i-777 from my phone
You got lucky, really lucky. Flashing a ROM for the wrong phone is usually a hard brick. Read the ROM threads and make absolutely certain you're flashing a ROM for the right phone the right way before doing so.
I have a galaxy s6 G920F and has only been rooted once however, my phone seemed to have soft bricked 3 times, the first 2 times i was able to flash the stock firmware over odin but now it just isn't working even though i am using the correct firmware for my device, does anyone know how i can fix this, most tutorials don't work.
1. Try redownloading the firmware. There could be errors in it.
2. Try changing the USB cable or change USB ports.
3. Reflash again and again until you succeed.
hasn't worked, still fails almost instantly
Bring your S6 back to Samsung for warranty repair.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930A. I recently rooted my phone and it was causing alot of problems such as slowdown and bugs. So, I tried to put stock firmware on it and I was unsuccessful. Now my phone is stuck in a boot loop. I need to know how to properly install stock firmware into my phone because I have followed guides on XDA'S website and Odin keeps failing. I really need help with this because I don't even have a working cell phone.

Download samsung kies 3 and put the phone in download mode and try to recover the phone by flashing the default firmware that came with the phone.
Kies 3 does not support my device (SM-G930A)

Thank you for the response but when I connected my phone to Kies 3, I got a message that said "we do not support this device". I have also tried Samsung Smart Switch and that did not work either. Is there another method for restoring my phone and getting it out of the bootloop?

Yes i know you get that msg in kies but you still will be able to flash the orig fw back to the device with kies. Just put the phone in download mode before hooking up the phone to the pc then start kies
And go to the top bar and select the 4th tab where you will see recovery. Then it will ask you for the model number and some other things and after that it will flash the fw for you. I have done this a couple of times now so i can tell you 100% that it will work

I'm actually trying to do exactly this now, and have tried re-entering the correct model number and serial number into Kies numerous times.
No matter what, Kies continues to state "Please check the model name and enter it" even though all of the info entered is correct.
Any suggestions? I'm doing this with my G930A on Nougat (model "SM-G930A")
Hi, long story short, I was doing a factory reset on my 930F and for some reason that failed and now all I can get to is Download mode.
Yeah, I know, then there should be no problem with a soft brick to flash stock firmware right?
Odin gets stuck on the initialization step in Odin all the time. I have tried 2 computers, 3 cables, different Odin versions and yes, I have the correct drivers. I even took the back off and disconnected the battery
Please, if anyone has any idea how to fix this I would be so grateful. Any input at all.
I have almost set my mind to get a new phone already :crying:
Sorry for my bad english

I wanted to update my s7 edge to oreo via odin. So, i think i just flash it bad (instead of put one archive in bl i put other in ap, idk things like that). so i saw it told me An error has occurred while updating the device
software. Use the emergency recovery function in Smart Switch. I tried flashing again the firmware in odin but it just stuck in initialization. I just tried in diferent version of odin nor switch mode.
I tried with diferent usb cable nor other usb port
When i try to recover it with switch mode it just tell that it cant because it isn´t compatible (I even put the s/n)
Could someone tell a alternative tool to odin?
Help please, i think im losing my s7
I'm not an expert, you could try using Heimdall (https://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/) instead of Odin, not sure if that helps.
If not then your phone may be bricked.
If you are desperate there is this thing called unbrickable mod that requires physical intervention, but I haven't found it for s7 edge
