Rooting Mate 8 and some other questions - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I did not buy the Mate 8 yet but being able to root easily makes me more sure about the choice.
1. Is there any good reason to change the basic ROM after unlocking BL&Rooting? I was planning to get root access for some cool apps (e.g. the firewall) and stay with the basic ROM.
2. After I unlock and root with "[TOOL] SRK Tool Huawei Bootloader/ROOT/Recovery/Backup/Utility", I guess I cannot upgrade the EMUI if there is an official upgrade. My question here is, can I return to locked bootloder&unrooted and upgrade normally if Huawei releases an upgrade? How?
3. Actually I’m not sure about to choose Nexus 6p, Mate 8, ZTE Axon 7 or LG V10, but the biggest screen and the biggest SOT aim the Mate, but since I want root permission without being expert and being able to upgrade if there is an official update I’m not sure if I should buy a Nexus 6p. Any suggestion?
Thanks.

I've just bought the mate 8

Honor 8 (UK) update to Android 7.0/Nougat?

Hi all,
I'm from the UK and have the Honor 8, was wondering when I might be receving the Android 7.0/Nougat update?
Reason being, I've bought the phone and don't want to start using it until the update is installed, I liked the look of the Beta ect..
Maybe there is a way to update it manually? My phone is stock btw.
Cheers.
Depending on the variant of the Honor 8 you have, the update should be rolling out shortly. If you're eager to update your phone however, there are various methods available that should allow you to update your phone to Nougat; just do a quick look through of the other subforums for the Honor 8and you'll find your answer.

Look at this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/debrand-frd-al00-to-frd-l09-update-to-t3552445
Just skip root/debranding part. Charles method works seamlessly...
No I'm running N in FRD-L09 and it works great. It's really stable and EMUI5 is just amazing.

Some questions

Hi, i'm about to root my Honor 8, with your tool, and I ask my self: How maintain my phone ?
My phone is under Android 7, And EMUI 5.1
I don't know if after the root, he can work as far as a non rooted phone.
How I can update it if a new version of Adroid or EMUI comes out ?
What should I do with ?
To conclude, I wan't root it, but i need some informations before. (working, updates, ...)
P-S: I'm using those tutorials to root my phone:
How to Root Honor 8 and Install TWRP and Xposed (xdadevelopers)
How to Unlock Bootloader on Honor 8 (xdadevelopers)
Is it good or not? Tell me.
Thanks to read / answer this thread.

Please ask yourself why are you wanting to root your phone ,??
There is no stable custom ROMs for us to use.
Why root your phone just for the sake of it ???

Buying Advice: need to buy a new phone to replace my old HTC One m7

Hi,
I'm looking for a new smartphone.
I'm not looking for the best phone ever, I will happy whether it has the following features:
A 100% working "rooting / unlocking bootloader" method (best if OTA updates will work after rooting);
A very good battery that will let me stress my phone until night;
Good performances in everyday use.
The phones I have found that could satisfy the features above are:
Lenovo P2
OnePlus 3T
Honor 8 / Honor 8 Pro
but I'm not sure about some things:
Lenovo P2:
-> I'm sure there is a 100% rooting method that allows OTA updates to run fine (do you have a link to a working method?). Also I don't know whether latest updates have solved the issues about notifications and other problems (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/how-to/p2-bugs-issues-t3549690)
OnePlus 3T:
-> I don't think it's worth to buy it because OnePlus 5 is coming at almost same price. Also I'm not sure about a 100% working method for rooting (do you have a link to a working method?).
Honor 8 / Honor 8 Pro:
-> Reviews show that the battery is not so good and it could be battery drain / over heating problems. Also I can't find a 100% working method for rooting (do you have a link to a working method?).
What do you think?
Any advice?
Thanks

New Honor 8 owner here, needing a few answers if you could!

Hello, I'm new to the whole Honor/Huawei system, last Huawei I've owned was a U8650NFC-1, which was running Gingerbread.
I'm coming from a Samsung Ecosystem, and Knox was a thing I had to deal with, I want to install a Camera MOD on my Honor 8 FRD-AL10.
Is there anything I should look out for after rooting the device? Any disabled features like Knox and all?
Thank you. Cheers!
Note that after rooting you will not be able to use android pay(if supported in your region) and your device may brick when doing OTA updates without stock recovery or unlocked bootloader in some cases.

Easiest Phone to Root in 2018 ?

Currently I have a MI Note 2 and trying to Root this phone has always been fun. It won't even run xposed on Oreo now. So what would everyone suggest for 2018 model phone that is easy to Root and can also run xposed. I'm thinking maybe the Oneplus 6 but perhaps there are some better suggestions.
thanks
