Galaxy S6 O2 Charging issue - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
The battery died on my S6 tonight with the indicator showing 13% (unlucky I know!). I plugged the phone into my wall fast charger and went for a bath. When I came back down 30 mins later I picked up the phone and it was showing 0% but in the notification area it had recognised the fast charger and said 1 hour 20 mins to full.
I changed the USB lead from the charger to the phone and initially it charged up to 30% in around 15 mins and then immediately dropped back down to 0%.
I have again changed the USB lead and it seems to be charging again it has made it up to 42% this time without dropping so I'm hoping it fully charges.
Does anyone have any advice or has anyone had a similar issue?
After this I will NEVER buy Samsung again I've had nothing but trouble with this model I really don't think its fit for purpose.
It is sold as a multi media device but if you try to use it as one you need to carry external battery packs. When I took it back to Samsung they said its a "screen on issue" and the screen on time is no more than 3 hours.
***************************************************UPDATE*************************************
It now appears to be stuck on 42 %

I've had similar issues like this but I am rooted. It involved me doing a clean install of my preferred rom. If you are stock then try the following 1. Factory reset 2. Flash a firmware via odin. If you still have issues then try a new usb cable and charger. This issue has only ever happened to me once since I've had this phone last September.

[Q] P3113 Won't Turn On Or Charge

*The tablet is completely stock, other than a couple apps, like a dictionary and google translate*
I got a Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch a little while ago for school use, and didn't use it much after Spring finals. But when I went to use it today, it would not turn back on. Thinking that the battery had been drained from being left on for an extended period, I plugged it in. What I found was that it would stay black for a couple seconds then show the battery with the stuck loading circle. It then shows the quarter and half charging increments in orange and shuts back off for a couple seconds. I have attached a gif in case my explanation of the animation is not sufficient.
Edit: My problem was purely hardware. The battery had failed somehow, and I fixed the problem with an OEM replacement battery. I'm glad that it was that easy to fix, and I hope that this can help someone else with the same problem.

you charging using direct charging adapter or USB charging?
based on my experience ...
1. If you tab out of the battery to 0%, can not be charged using usb charge for charging low power and not enough ..
2., And if you run out of battery at 0% and you charge using the adapter charges but still can not keep his charge, and so the possibility is still there charging cable / USB you are damaged .. if so you should try to use another cable / new and charging using adapter ..
try it ... I think maybe it will solve your problem ..

[Q] slow charge, fast drain, hot batt, jb update

 Hi guys
I have a galaxy s relay 4g
It took 2 hours of constant usage, to kill the battery from 50 to 0%
Figuring this was normal, I was configuring everytthing while downloading 50apps over wifi
Note phone was on airplane mode, but wifi was on.
Next day I updated from stock ics to stock jb
Turned it on, it was at 91% and after 5 min of usage the phone said it was too hot to charge the bat.
Phone went from 91% charge down to dead with one hour of moderate usage and 2 hour siting idle on airplane mode, wifi on..
It was 46c on batt temp whole time
Charged for 3 hours from pc usb and it gained 3%.
Charged another 3 on wall socket that came with nokia lumia, rated at 1400mA.
Charged 15%
The battery info showed that even though the phone was off, it woke up many times during the night -- IT WAS OFF as in the battery with the 4 white circles on the bottom were showing!
Turned off, removed sdcard, factory reset (left sd out, its still out) i
Came back ok, it syned to google and reinstalled all my apps, then died again
I've tried 2 batteries, and 3 different chargers,
I factory reset the phone too.
Wake lock says the android system used 18% of the battery... other than that I can't see anything obviously wrong
Stock on any device is also resource hungry.... What are the specs of the chargers you are using...certain chargers will not put out the needed amount of ma or volts...which also messes with a Samsung battery overcharge feature
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Charger 1 is my pc usb port, which charged my other two phones (mytouch q by lg and sammy captivate glide) about 70% as fast as charger 2.
Charger 2 is what came with phone but doesn't appear oem. 5.7v at 600mA
Charger 3 is the oem charger which came with wifes lumia 925 which rates at 5v at 1400mA
Its "charging" in my car now, no sim card, wifi on and connected to a medium strength signal, 0% charged and I wached the voltage steadily decline as I hit refresh in the gsam battery monitor. Started at 3.3v and in a minute was at 3.18v. Still 0%
Car charger is a no name brand (which kept my captivate charged pretty well despite using gps at the end of my 6 hour drive the phone was still at 75%.)
The battery is samsung oem.
The first battery I tried is also samsung oem.
I also have a 5v 1amp charger that will fill both phones between 1 and 2 hours if memory serves, the 1.4 doesn't seem to go any faster as I guess the won draw much if any more than 1 amp.
Given all of the above I'm inclined to think its software or other hardware issue.... phone was sold as "seller refurbished" on ebay, but the description says its just an open box sale of a phone that came back within the first 7 days....and yes I bought a square trade warranty in case some BS like this happened.... but want to try and fix before going that route.
Is there no way to factory reset to the original ics firmware?
I see you also have a relay, once I get this all figured out id love to root and rom mine like you have yours!
I know the newer android roms have more features but are they more or less responsive in general?
Main reason I got a relay instead of another captivate glide is the relay has much more rom development.
And now the red charging led isn't even turning on..... I wonder if its defective.
Shame I can't return it now, the screen has light scratches (was in my pocket while I was working under my carL
And it was sold in like new condition
Grabbed a brand new USB cable plugged the phone into a 5th charger, oem HTC radar, 5v at 1amp
swapped the battery for the 1st one I had.
Appeared to charge fine. Pulled out the charge cord at 50%, plugged it right back in.... the battery charging screen went from about 50% down to 20% in 1 second.
Confused, I left it plugged in and went to bed.
Got up this morning and it was dead again.... while plugged in, while off, not even the charging led was on. switched to the 1.4A charger, still nothing... hit the home button a couple times and the thing woke up into the battery charging screen (it ignored the power button the whole time)
The gsam screen was even more interesting:
it doesn't show much but the line graph showed a rapid decline from 20% down to almost 0 from some short time before 3 am, then
3 hours from 3am to 6am, the charge went from near 0 to 50%, and then in half the time back down to near 0.
The temp graph wasn't a line, but fragments of one
does Gsam show the amperage of the draw or charge on yours? its only ever given my the voltage of the battery and shows 1mA on the bottom of the battery,
ebay seller says clean the charge port with alcohol.... not sure why someone should need to do that on a "like new" phone but I'll have to try and find something tiny to shove a paper towel in there with..... that would account for the not charging but not for the high drain.... could thins thing have a short someplace?
sounds to me like a defective device. the fact that you did a factory reset and it's still not charging even with it turned off is probably the biggest sign there. it can't be any apps you've installed because you wiped them all off. i think you've gone way above what should be normally expected of a customer in terms of troubleshooting your device. hairline scratches on the phone are fine. you should still be able to return/exchange it IMHO. especially with the squaretrade thing.
yes, it's possible to flash back to stock ICS but if it's not working with the factory rom (whether ics or jb) the phone obviously has issues.
i just bought mine a couple weeks ago too, though not over ebay. i found a local tmobile "authorized" store (advertising on craigslist) that was selling stuff with similar description - open item or customer purchased and returned within a week. i have used mine on all sorts of chargers without issue: a motorola dual-usb rated at 750ma in the car, a monoprice 2.1a charger built into the 10-outlet power strip at my desk, 2 different laptop usb ports, and a samsung wall charger rated at i think 1.8a which came with my wife's galaxy tab 2. i never ran stock rom for more than about a day or so, just to verify proper operation of the phone, and now i run cyanogenmod11. i can go all day on a charge with what i consider medium to semi-heavy usage, which i think is great.
for example, yesterday i unplugged at about 9am after an overnight charge (with the phone on - i almost never turn it off because i have to be able to receive on-call alert emails from work). i got the day started in the attic installing radiant barrier (so it was rather hot). i had the phone in my pocket streaming a shoutcast station over wifi for probably about 4 hours. later, i watched a 30 minute show on netflix (also wifi), played some wordfeud, surfed the net a bit, watched some youtube videos on fixing my weed eater, did a few emails for work, probably 20-30 texts and maybe 10 minutes worth of phone calls. by 11pm i was still around 30% charge remaining. at no time did i plug in my phone during the day.
i have an extended battery on its way from china, so i expect to be able to go 2 full days on a charge with similar usage. and the thicker back plate will make it easier to hold, since i have such long fingers.
tl;dr - you got a bad phone. exchange it.

[Q] Says 'not charging' but slowly charging

My dad owns this old Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 and it died today day. It did not charge at all (i thought the cause must have been from the battery charge dropping too low and dying) and so i decide to do some DIY teardown.
Opened it successfully without damaging anything and saw the battery inside. I unplugged it and read a charge of 3.05 volts. This was really low but i knew due to some previous experiments, this was enough to make the tablet work. I put it all together and plugged in the charger and the charging logo magically popped up (maybe produced a small reset).
The main issue is that the tablet says it is not charging in battery settings even though it is (after 2 hours, went from 9% to 13% and later on from 16% to 19%. I think the battery is just damaged. Is there a way to fix it or should i just buy a new battery for it?

[Completed] [Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 charging problem

The past 2 weeks ive had trouble trying to charge my s3. At first the phone would charge but out of nowhere it would stop and charge and the red light would go on and off and it did this repeatedly until i disconnected the charger. A couple days later the phone would barely charge. It would go up from 47 to 53 percent in 2 hours soon the phone didnt even charge at all! I noticed it would discharge because i saw the parentage go from 47 to 38 only in a matter of minutes. At this point i didnt know what to do because i tried different chargers and outlets and tried charging through my xbox and laptop. I was told that changing my battery would fix this solution. The new battery worked and my phone charged the correct way but only for a couple hours because the charging problems came back and while i was using my phone on 34 percent the screen had black horizontal lines flashing in the screen kind of like a static tv and then my phone just shut off and didnt turn on for an hour. Upon turning the phone on again the screen showed it had 0 percent and it shut off and I turned it on again and it had 17 percent (this is still the new battery) but soon the phone shut off again. Now when i turn it on it only makes it up to the AT&T screen then the blue flashing light start fading and the phone dies. The only way i can get the phone to charge it by putting the charger in a certain position also i cleaned out the charging port yesterday with a needle and took alot of dust and the phone started to charge normally but only to 7 percent but then while it was charging it dropped to 0 percent. The times ive gotten my phone to charge it hasnt gone past 9 percent and when it reaches 9 it just starts draining battery like crazy to 0 and then it shuts off. I was wondering if anybody has had this problem or have a solution or explanation. Thank you

Battery/Phone Shutting Down

Recently had to replace battery.
Phone was shutting almost immediately after it was disconnected from charger. Charging status when not switched on showed the battery kinda going in reverse. Phone was really odd as it would suggest the battery had 100% charge and then within minutes of disconnecting it was shutting down.
I tried a factory reset/refresh with no change. So I ordered a Genuine replacement battery off flea bay and installed that last Thursday.
Initially phone seemed ok, then wen a bit weird and shut down even though charge was like at 70% or so. Wouldn't restart until plugged in and then in shutdown mode the battery/charging indicator would show 0% and then very quickly showed 70%. Good bit though was it was going up and not down like before.
Fully charged phone overnight. It then seemed really good and lasted until Tuesday with 66% charge still showing. I had not installed FB or Twitter which made a huge difference. Then yesterday it just shutdown again. When plugged in showed 0%, within minutes back to 70% and then charged to 100% in the space of an hour or so.
So I am looking for any advice. Is this just calibration issues that the phone needs to get past. Is it possible the phone has corruption int he ROM.
I appreciate it might be a hardware fault but seems weird that the replacement battery is clearly showing a big improvement suggesting battery was EOL after 2 years use.
TIA

Same problem here i will try to install the oficial rom of xt890 if works i back here if not i don't know what to do
Sooo............issue is still present. Odd thing which I am unable to confirm, due to rnadomness of shutdowns, it that I think it is slowly learning the state of the battery as it originally was shutting down at 70% after 2-3 days on standby. then 66% hen 56%. I did a clear cache partition and a fresh install but still the issue was present.
Clearly the new battery is lasting longer than the old one, just the phone does not seem to know to reduce the charge indicator all the way to 0%.
Anyone any idea why this might be happening.
TIA
G
Just to add i'm having the same problem.
Symptoms started last week running the stock kitkat rom so i ordered and a fitted a new battery. Initially everything looked good phone said 100% left it over night and noticed it had shut off when i came back to it. Plugged it in to the charger and it said 0% so i charged back to 100%, booted up android and almost immediately it begins discharging rapidly, i would say within 15 minutes its back down to 0%.. I've done this a few times now even left it on charge overnight for 8 hours but its still discharging rapidly everytime. The craziest thing is even if it says 0% in android i can still boot in to recovery and flash away so clearly there is charge in the battery its just android thats out of sync.
What i've tried so far:
Different wall chargers/USB leads/Outlets
Wiped everything in TWRP and flashed CM11
Factory Reset several times
Various battery calibration apps
My next step is going to be trying RSD to flash the stock ROM but beyond that i dont know what to do.
I'm experiencing EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE with my Razr i, replaced the battery and it's still discharging very fast
Eventually managed to resolve my new battery issue simply by fully charging and discharging several times. It started to hold charge after the 7th charge and after several more discharges it's now up to full capacity.
