I'm just wondering if there is a way to fix music controls on screen when using a music player on the phone. I hate that I need to go to my watch and slide to music widget so I can change the song, I feel like it would be faster taking my phone from the pocket and doing it from the lockscreen.
Thanks
Set up the music app as a double press shortcut. I did this and change songs all the time while I'm riding a bike. For further info see: http://www.wareable.com/samsung/samsung-gear-s2-tips-and-tricks-776
Best solution I've found for this problem (and others where persistent display is concerned) is to use Wearable Widgets. I use this to control Amazon Music, for example, on my phone from my S2. WW has a "watchface" which is simply the configured widget(s) from the phone.

Was wondering if it's possible to download an app to play music other than the stock media player. If so, does anybody have any recommendations for a good one?
Yes. Try cubed (cool interface) or mixzing(lock screen widget).
I use double twist.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I use doubletwist. I tried mixzing (love the possibility to get recommendations) but it shows all my compilation CDs as individual albums on the Album screen. Their only solution is to move all the songs to its own folder. Don't want to rearrange my library.
I have actually gone back to the stock music player as it actually indexes my playlists correctly. I am syncing my library using iSyncr and it seems all other music apps except the stock and doubletwist pull up multiple coppies of all my playlists with all but one of them empty.
I really liked doubletwists look and feel, but at the time the lack of a lock widget was a dealbreaker (not sure if they have added one yet). the biggest drawback with the stock app IMO is the inability to go forward and back tracks via the headset controls. But it seems even the apps that do have this still are flakey with the controls.
A friend bought bTunes and that also looks very nice and has the lock screen widget, but still has the playlist issue.
I play music from Google Play Music at my work with my phone on wireless charger. I would love to be able to glance to my phone and see the song that's currently playing, coz I have bought quite a lot of albums and not sure which is which.
Is there an app (maybe if not I will write one) that displays the music being played? The one on lockscreen is perfect, but I can't keep the screen on on the lockscreen.
I managed to use dashclock + music extension, but the words are too small.
Hello.
I have a little question regarding the music player on the gear S2. I am using the gear S2 to listen music when I am at the sports club. While doing sport, it is not easy to make a lot of manipulation on the watch. However, every time my watch is activating, it is showing the watch face. I have to manipulate to go to the music player if I want to pass a track for example.
Is there any way to display directly the music player when the watch is waking up or a watch face that would allow to directly control the music player more easily ?
By advance, thank you.

Two options:
1. Assign the home button to open Music Player when pressed twice. Settings>Device>Double Press Home Key>Music Player.
2. Use a watchface that includes a "tap zone" that opens Music Player when you tap it. I design my watchfaces to do this.
AFAIK, there currently is no ability to set the S2 to wake-up in Music Player. I have requested/complained to Samsung to include a wake-up to last used app option, and they just laughed at me and said go away pissant.

you can try Music Player S2, it got internal engine to copy any audio files to gear s2 from a phone
Thank you. Affecting the music player to the double press home key button is enough. However, to make it even more easy for manipulation during sport, i finally found and opted for bluetooth earphones that integrate full control button on it.
And yes, Samsung have one of the worst customer's service that can be imagined. It was so difficult to obtain informations about the release of their new phone in Japan... But Japanese customer seem to not forget easily. The popularity of the brand in Japan is bad enough for them to close their unique Shop in one of the bigger town in Japan. They are making great products but are really bad at communication.

I am running @da_anton's lightweight ROM and still getting slowdown issues. I noticed once the headunit bogs down, the tuner also starts having trouble. I think part of my problem is I have a large music library on my External SD and the music app seems to rescan it every time it boots. I want to total replace the music app and replace with something very lightweight like Eleven Player, but only if I can completely replace the existing app.
Since I am on da_anton's ROM, I am rooted, and know I can delete the default, but how do I get the replacement player to work as default so it has app priority when I select it? By that I mean if I have the radio on, and select music, the system knows radio sound stops and music app takes control.
+1 for that, I would like to use other version for music player as well, the way it sorts the folders is not good for me, need standard style, like pc folder style, not all folders at same time.
MtcdTools for set a steel button for:
1-next button
2-previous song
3-open the better music app: jetaudio
Hi,
Is there any way to assign third party app to Steering Wheel Controls command MODE so that instead of Radio -> Music -> Video -> AUX cycle thru Radio -> [My Music App] -> [My Video App] -> AUX?
Guys youl can get every other music player to work.
Just install it.
Now change buttons.
With dasaita greaser (even scip music with the round button, or ehith steerling whel is possible)
You can see it on my video.
Please skip to 4:40. And wait. I even show button functions and synchronizing mp3 with phone without pc, just music that's changed rating.

I like to listen to music on Spotify while browsing the web or using social media on my galaxy s8, Does anybody know how to play next song or previous song while you are in a different app? I don't even know how to change to next song even when I am on Homescreen, the only method I know is to go inside Spotify and do it from there...
If you're using Spotify just use the notification drop down from the top bar. You'll find music controls there as long as Spotify is running in the background. As for the homescreen, you can add a Spotify widget that shows album art, title and artist name along with the music control.
If you activate the music control lock screen widget, that will give you music controls for Spotify on the lock screen (found in facewidget settings)
Thank you guys, spotify notifications were turned off that was the problem
