Tablet Factory Reset Without Volume Keys - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I have an android tablet. It has a password on it which doesn't allow me to access data from an sd card, open any files on it, etc, it basically limits what I can do. There is a password blocking the storage settings, and so I want to reset it to factory settings to get rid of this. The problem is that the tablet does not have any volume keys to scroll up or down in order to select the correct option in order to restore it.
Here is my question, is there any way to get around this and restore it somehow? Possibly a program or something that would automatically start the restore once plugged in etc? Or if it would be possible to make an sd card in which the tablet could just boot straight from that?
Thanks in advance!

Flash any touch Custom recovery like twrp or philz meant for your device. These recoveries have touch interface. Download flashify app from play store that will take you to recovery directly without touching any hardware button.

Thanks for the response. Do you know if the tablet needs to be rooted for that to work? Because mine currently is not.

If you have a PC then you can use different flash tools like spflash tool or ADM and your device need not to be rooted for using these tools but if you don't have a PC then you need to root your phone and then use flashify tool.
If you have a mediatek device then use mtkdroid tools for PC.

[Q] Dopo D7020

Hello,
I'm new to tablets and their operating systems. I was wondering if anyone knew how to root the dopo D7020 tablet. It was gift for my children and I would like speed it up so my kids don't come up to me 5 minutes telling me that it's froze.
Thanks and any help is appreciated,
Jon
Rooting won't fix your problem. A custom rom is needed and it's hard to find these for such tablets.
I'd recommend using a lightweight launcher so you have more free RAM.
Stuck in CWM 5.5.0.4 No ADB DOPO D7020
So I rooted the device no problems , and I used a generic CWM recovery for RK2918 devices, since I thought thats what it's running
Livesuit Shows no Rockchip device , it is now detecting a A10 device and I cannot load a Rockchip driver for the life of me , in the CWM recovery mode.
1. Is this device rockchip or not?
2. I have no control with volume controls can only press power which reboots right back to CWM
3. Is there a proven recovery technique for this issue?
4. Does anyone have a backup <--- I was installing CWM to do this I belive I may have put the wrong on or
5. The factory firmware image <----- Double powertech site does not even list this tablet.
6. Is there a way to get the device out of CWM recovry mode? Yes I have done a hard reset via the reset button still CWM recovery.
Device is a DOPO 7020 it detect under windows as a D7016 though
Im not sure how to get out of this if I could even gain control of the menu up down to apply an update from zip this would be fine. I can work in WIN. MAC, Linux dont matter just need to get it working agin for my kid. Any help wold be appreciated.

Using windows or linux, please try to boot into CWM (since it only does that I'm sure that's automatically) and then use ADB to push, pull or even restart in bootloader or recover mode if I"m not mistaken. The commands are "adb reboot-bootloader" and "adb reboot recovery" without quotes. This should allow you to work with your phone. Use ADB to reboot into the bootloader (fastboot mode) and then use fastboot to flash whatever you may need. Hope this helps. I spent a lot of time working on my kids Tablet too and ended up in a similiar situation.

Cheers! Good luck.

[Q] android system recovery 3e is missing, after unrooting and factory delete

after i rooted and tried different custom rom for my model qmobile A10, and later i unrooted from same app which is through pc.
before rooting i had android system recovery 3e as in my recovery mode when i click power button + vol up and down .
but when i rooted my phone it was replace by cwm based recoverey v6.0.1.2, as then i used other custom rom.
i first install someone else stock rom of same model as for some reason before rooting it saved my rom + apps as in userdata_20131227_090252.backup and i could not recovery it while being in rooted as it wanted only .zip.
and with this file .backup nothing else was made by my mobile.
now when i unrooted using the same dos software Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17 .reboot and then did factory delete from setting, it seems that my android system recovery 3e has gone missing, as when i click on recovery mode it just refresh my phone as new but not going to setting anymore. it just show android and centre cube moving n restart my phone as start as new.
how can i get it back so maybe that way i can access my .backup file which is 739mb size
do i need to flash it if yes how. As i want it to be as when i bought it.
update:
when i check with root checker , some say terminal rooted and some rooted but missing bootloader, and super su.
Can someone please help me as i can only go to recovery mode through cwm based as my mobile is stll half rooted. how to totally unroot it as the software i think did not completly unrooted.

Re-root after Kitkat update?

Hi,
I finally managed to update my Moto G to 4.4.2 by flashing stock rom. However, before I did that, my phone was rooted and I used Titanium Backup to back up some files. I then copied that folder to my PC. Now, I have tried to root the phone again using superboot, but my screen goes purple literally 2 seconds after I load superboot and then I have to switch it off and back on again. It hasn't installed SuperSU so I'm assuming my phone isn't rooted any more. I am a total noob in these matters and I really do appreciate all the help given on this site.
I would greatly appreciate if you can help me by getting my files from Titanium backup back up again, and how to re-root my phone. I have searched the forum but I didnt find anything too similar to my situation and I don't understand a lot of the terminology. It took me a really long time to even learn how to flash the stock rom!
So I would appreciate any help. Thank you
Root option 2 doesn't work either. It just says "waiting for device" at the first stage. When I click on recovery, it says no command. USB debugging has been enabled. Im confused!
Put latest superSU zip on /sdcard on phone. Copy across to phone using USB or use airdroid app. Search internet for superSU zip by chainfire developer.
Flash custom recovery CWM (search forum for it). Be sure to get the one for 4.4.2 bootloader.
Boot into CWM recovery (boot to bootloader and choose recovery option using UP volume button) and choose to flash a zip file and then pick the superSU zip.
You are now rooted and have a custom recovery.
For titanium backup, either copy to phone using USB or use airdroid app.
If you still have probs then let me know and I can give more detailed instructions tomorrow when I am at my laptop along with links to files needed.

Thank you very much for your help. Just a few questions if you dont mind. How do I put the SuperSU zip on the /sdcard part of the phone? When I access my phone via the pc, i cant find that folder.
Also, how do I go about flashing the custom recovery CWM. I don't know how to do this. The rest I should be OK with.
Thanks again pal
Go to android development section and follow the cwm 6.0.4.6 guide you can get the latest supersu from chainfire website just DL the zip plug your phone in and open your device and place the zip there. Then when you flash cwm don't reboot just move on to updating SD card and flash the super Su zip

When you access phone via PC do you see a list of directories, eg data, documents, pictures. If so that is the sdcard. Just put the superSU zip in any folder, or just copy it across so its not even in an actual folder. As long as its on there its fine.
If you don't see the folders then maybe you don't have the right drivers for the phone. In this case may be easiest to use airdroid app.
You may need drivers for fastboot below though anyway - not sure on windows as I use Linux. Bit of reading on forums should help with that.
CWM - have you used fastboot before? Basically fastboot is a program you put on your PC to allow you to flash images to your phone. You will enter a command like
fastboot flash recovery cwm.img
Where cwm.img is the CWM recovery file. You need to be in the bootloader to allow the phone to accept fastboot commands. The cwm.img is then flashed to the phones recovery partition.
Check the forums for a link to a fastboot program, that's the easiest way to get it.
Honestly, thank you so much for your help guys, a special thanks to you scott. I kinda understand now!
Now, I did all that, but I got a problem. When I try to flash CWM by using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
On my phone, it says mismatched partition size (recovery). Also, a bit off topic but when I try to restore factory settings, the phone doesn't do it properly. The android logo comes up....then it disappears, then appears again and disappears and so on.
Have I messed something up?
The partition mismatch is fine try factory reset on the phone setting not by recovery and see if that works

RK3066 Boot loop in recover mode

hi i purchase China brand rk3066 label as UG007 II
here the story
i wanted to flash finless rom on the stick but i want to backup my stock rom thru CWM
firstly i tried to root, using petrus. install it. run the reboot apk. when i choose reboot to recovery, my tv reboot and after awhile it goes back to home with ALL my apk missing. it seems that chat comand has factory reset my tv stick.
secondly i tried this method from Geekbuying website
install moroboro, and tpsarky successfully and my stick now rooted. moroboro successfully detect the rk3066 chip.
thirdly i want to install cwm as i want to do nandroid backup from here and choose genericrk3066 as i am not sure whether i should use imito or ug007 as this china brand tv stick
so.. following the method rename the cwm to update.zip and placed in external usd lashand reboot.
upon reboot, it goes stright to recovery menu ( it takes quite sometime to reboot probably few minutes). but unfortunately i cant move my mouse up/down. the cursur stuck at reboot system. when click the mouse, the stick reboot.
no matter what i do the cursur wont move and i cant highlite the install from sd to flash rom.
so no i am stuck at recovery mode.
worse part is the reset hole/button seems doesnt do anything. presing it while in recovery mode does not do anything.
if i press the reset button and connect microOTG to notebook usb (tried many method combination microOTG/power/reset), my notbook cant find the driver. if i able to do it, i able to flash new rom. but unfortunately. but Moroboro still can detect the stick when i install it.
anyhelp can extend to me please. i have open up the stick at techbliss website says you can short two point to go into mask recovery mode but the circuit is different:crying:
I able to flash new rom now. there's program to install rk driver. forgot to backup the rom before I flash new rom, now my wifi won't work anymore

No you didnt do anything wrong. Some h/phone models do not respond to Vol+/- + Power. Out of the 11 device I owned my latest MTK powered phone do not respond to the hardware button.
But you did not describe your phone completely.
What SoC? Kirin, Exynos or MTK? (I assume it is MTK)
Are you rooted?
Do you want to access customs recovery or stock recovery?
If you are not rooted and on stock recovery, you can only access (for these problematic models) via "fastboot recovery"
command. It is not hard install adb driver on your PC, and your device driver. search for "fastboot adb" installer from the web. It is less than 1 Mb size and your USB cable from PC to device. End users cant do much when facing this problem.
If you are rooted and on customs recovery all you need to do is to install "Rebooter" from Playstore and click the rebooter from Android homescreen to get into TWRP recovery. (this doesnt work if you dont have root and on stock recovery).
I rooted , install customs recovery, by using fastboot and my device ROM flasher everything works well for me. And I enter TWRP via "Rebooter" and clear my dalvik and cache. Try it.
