Hello,
i have found this one in section for HTC One XL for locking the bootloader again.
I am curious, if this would work also on ours TF300T's?
Just in case i would need to send it for repair (hope this will not happen).
The command should be:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Even if it would be possible, it wouldn't matter since Asus already has your tablets serial number registered as "unlocked" in their database.

Hmmm, i didn't realized that.
And if it will work, will the OTA updates work, or no, because of their DB and my unlocked Transformer?

I'd say no because they push OTAs based on serial numbers in their database

I'm hoping for one of two things or both to happen...the decompile the bootloader unlocker project in the development section is sucessful in their efforts to unlock the bootloader without relaying your SN back to asus, or, someone figures out a way to install CWM recovery without having to unlock the bootloader.
one question. I have unlocked my bootloader 5 minutes after I got the tab.
Tested all available roms. Today i got back to stock and rooted it with the root.zip.
Booting into system and Ill get an update available message from asus. Thought there were no on air updates after unlocking
@mikaole:
I have upadated the tablet right after unboxing.. and then unlocked in 15min after update. But it was 2 weeks ago, so i don't know, if i will get any other OTA notification.
While i am checking the FW update, it says: no update available
*nevermind

But that doesn't matter if your locked because you can download and install the upgrade from Asus site. (re)rooting with unlocked bootloader is easy.
hey all.
i planned on getting my GS3 a week or so ago buy a family member on my family plan decided to take the upgrade without letting me know and now im stuck waiting for the next upgrade (comes in november)
i wanted to know if the current unlock bootloader method is permanent? as in cant be patch by future OTA updates?
i should have my GS3 by the end of this month (no later than the first few days of november) but i dont want to end up getting the phone then come to find that they released a OTA update (maybe official JB) and it patches the unlock method.
please bare with me as i have very little knowledge on how some things work with phones. im trying to learn. i have pc hardware pretty much down though (LOL)
i know that root methods can change easily with updates to the phone but not sure about unlocked bootloaders
thanks guys for reading and hopefully helping me out.
It could be patched, yes. However, if you unlock and install a custom recovery and never take an OTA, you will be fine. All you would have to do is be patient enough to wait for a Dev to release a safe version for you to flash.

Once I get my phone first thing will be to root and unlock bootlader. I don't plan locking the boot loader (unless I had to issue with the phone and needed a replacment)
I'm just worried that when I can use my early upgrade and buy the phone it would be to late and a ota would be on the phone already that would cause it to not be able to unlock.
I should be fine (plan on getting phone on October 29th) but I don't want to be stick with a phone I can't install ROMs to. (Hate touchwiz) want aosp.

Nope, it could be patched in an update.

You'll be fine. We have access to an unsecured bootloader so they can't patch that. The problem could be obtaining root. The current root method exploit could get patched and then another method needs to be found.

I'm sure even if they did patch it, we can Odin back to original factory firmware and unlock again.

You should be fine. Even if there is a OTA it most likely wont come installed out of the box.
Even if they put out an ota you can just use Odin and put older firmware onto the phone.
nothing lasts forever...
It will be patched but then unlocked again by the great dev here at xda

They didnt unlock it the first time. It was a leaked bootloader that got it unlocked.
Pending!
This new thread for only BTU UK ONLY unlocked goes here, I'm sure there are a lot of people waiting for this, and when it arrives the title will have pending removed.
If anyone notices the update available either through kies, or OTA,
Post here please.

BUMP....:good:
I wouldn't be surprised if the network's get it first in the UK, and those of us on simfree BTU will have to wait weeks before we finally get it.
No update here either.

Nice, then you can let us know which of the two will get the OTA update first.

From my understanding OTA updates are way down the pecking order. Samsung have said all region releases will be done via Kies first

No call recording. Stuff kitkat. We have already seen it brings nothing special to the party.
Can't wait

My other phone's a Ferrari.
A little bit annoying as we in the UK were the one of the first in the queue when the Note 3 was launched so you would have thought Sammy would give us a bit more of a priority For the record many here had their Note 3s in 24th September 2013.

I saw on the Internet that KitKat 4.4.4 with security bug fixes has been launched only for nexus 5 through OTA but when I check for updates, the phone says your system is up to date. I'm running stock android 4.4.3 unrooted. Why is this happening? Any help regarding this?
P.S. - I don't want to update using factory images. Only using OTA. Want to know why my phone is unable to get the update.
Thank you

They roll out in stages. You'll have to be patient or check out the ota help in the general forum and download the ota zip

Floating around here are stock 4.4.4 zips you can flash.

Don't worry. I've not received it either. Google sucks with updates and gives absolutely no change log or support. Apple walks all over them in this area. I've read it may take two to three weeks for everyone to get it.

and thats why on update day at apple it takes 12+ hrs for the update to download because their servers are hammered.
pick your poison.
I'd definitely take the staged rollout. No question. Then again, I never wait for an ota. There are plenty of other options available if you're not patient enough to wait. Even waiting for the ota, you'll still get the update before most other devices. Some won't get it at all. Wait, or go a different route. Simple.

I don't understand why people who are so desperate for the update don't just install a custom recovery and flash the zip.
Or just adb sideload like a savage.

Just a question... Did anyone get a OTA update from MetroPCS today (06-25-2017). If so, how is the update and should we update..

I received the update for T-Mobile. Not sure, if it's better than the previous update, so far don't see any improvement.

The update is mostly for security patches from what I can tell.
