I bought my mom a SGS4G last week (her first smartphone,) and I've been searching EVERYWHERE for a TPU case for it. She just wants something simple, preferably clear or smoke colored, but every one I've found at a reasonable price has a pattern (diamonds, argyle, etc.) Even on eBay, the majority of the TPU cases have some sort of pattern, which is extremely frustrating. I don't understand why, because the SGS4G is a gorgeous device... you would think more cases would be designed that accentuate the design, but that's just not so.
Can anyone recommend a good TPU case that fits well and doesn't have a pattern in it? It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just as long as it fits properly and doesn't have a stupid pattern. A bundle with a screen protector would be nice, but not necessary.
Speaking of, can anyone recommend a good quality screen protector for the SGS4G?
Thanks in advance for any help, I've got a massive headache trying to sort through all the ugly cases.

I just ordered the smoke one last night. The image was different last night when I placed the order. I'm not sure why they keep changing the pictures like that. Weird.

Thanks for the link, please post once yours arrives and let me know how it fits! I'll check out the other thread and see what I can find as well.
The guy who originally posted it said it fits great. I'm not too sure about buttons though. I'm really iffy about buttons for TPU cases, since they're usually very difficult to press. The smoke case looks really good though, because the buttons seem to be very distinct (two buttons for volume instead of the usual one).
I bought that same 'smoke' case from eBay. I guess its really iffy on if you get a good one. It isn't exactly a smoked case but more of a hybrid case. Its outer rim is black tpu and the back is a frosted polycarbonate material. There are 2 versions of this case though, the one wirh the covered buttons is the good version. everyone said it had a perfect fit and they absolutely loved it on the vibrant forums and then there's the one where there are cutouts for the buttons. That version, which I unluckily got, SUCKS. The fit was loose, the bezel wasn't fully covered and well eventually it broke . I hope you have a better experience than I did.

I just remembered you were the one with the trident aegis. Lol why are looking for another case?

I love my Trident Aegis, but its look is getting bad. The matte finish on the plastic is coming off, which makes it look cheap. Kinda disappointing. I really liked the case too. I also snapped the bottom a bit when I was taking it off (although it still all stays well together).
That's very interesting how there would be such a huge difference between the cases. I hope I got a good one then. The one from DayDeal (the one I posted in this thread) looks pretty good. The buttons are protected, but it looks like it would be easier to press than the standard TPU cases.
EDIT:
I just want to note that the IMAGES are different for DayDeal and the other retailers. DayDeal actually has the image as http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/3106XVVkf1L._SL500_AA300_.jpg and http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41k4wppV-9L._AA300_.jpg, while all the other retailers have an image like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51PiNV1S4zL._SL500_AA300_.jpg.
That might be something important to keep in mind.
EDIT #2:
I think what you're talking about are these cases:
1) http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=45703
2) http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=50098
I'm betting the former is better than the latter.

The case that I got was the one with a black rim and transparent back cover. It feels really durable because of the polycarbonate back, but it makes taking it off a hassle.
With that said, I still love this case. It covers everything perfectly and it keeps the phone slim. The buttons are extremely easy to press as well.

Yeah, mine were covered. I like that the buttons are separated too. I gotta press a bit harder than on my Trident Aegis case, but I guess this will do for now.
I decided to gather up some different types of accessories for this phone, varying from cases, pouches, and even chargers. Detailed photos as well as a small written review will be provided for each accessory. I hope this will give you some informed decisions on purchasing these products. I would also take any constructive criticism to improve these reviews for future use..
Diztronic TPU Case
Review
Diztronic did a great job designing this TPU case. As you can see, this case provides great coverage in protecting the phone. With a lip covering the sides of the screen, the phone can be set face downward without the screen touching the surface. The buttons are great and have a nice feeling when pushed. Like other TPU cases pressing down on the buttons seems like such a hassle, but not with this case. The matte black finish provides a non-glossy surface that also makes it harder to see visible scratches or marks on the back of the case. All the ports (headphone jack, USB, speaker) are easily accesible thanks to the specific cutouts it provides. Overall, this is one great TPU case and I prefer it over the rest of them out there.

XO Skins
Review
XO Skins is one of many screen protectors that are done through a wet application. The whole installation process was simple. Only thing you have to take into consideration is the amount of liquid applied to both the screen protector and the phone should be minimal and just enough to let the screen protector glide over the phone. You also have to be careful squeegeeing the liquid away from open ports such as both front and back speakers. It took a little over a day for most of the leftover air bubbles, as well as marks, to dissipate.
There was little to no orange peel on the protector, compared to other competing companies such as ZAGG, which is way worse. I really like the it has all the cutouts for the front facing camera, proximity sensors, speakers, camera, and flash. Also, take note that their customer service is really nice and they will take care of an problem you have on the screen protectors. I definitely recommend this as protection for both the screen and the back glass.

LG WCP-700 (Wireless Inductive Charging)
Review
I've never used an inductive charger before owning this one. After a week of using it, it seems to do its job perfectly. The soft touch feeling covering the base provides a non-slippery surface for placing your phone. There are two LED indicators near the top that let you know whether it is on, and show that it is charging. The charging speed for the charger is fairly fast, averaging at about 10% in around 45 min. The charging does automatically stop once it hits 100% but as soon as it dips below 95% it picks right up. I would, however, like it if it kept the charging at 100%. The charger does make a beep when it is placed on the mat. It may be useful for some people but aggravating for others. This post will guide you in removing the speaker. I had tested the charging with a couple cases and can finally conclude that it does charge through TPU material as well as through the Ringke Slim case.

Clear S-Line TPU Case
Review
I really like the fact that you can see the Nexus logo through the back of the TPU case. The left and the right side has a nice textured material for better grip. The bottom of the case has to holes so that the USB and the microphone will be accessible. The back has a nice double texture; top part a matte clear finish while the right-bottom half is the clear TPU portion. The camera as well as the rear speaker is also easily accessible. The final part of the case is the top part which has two cut-outs , one for the headphone jack and the other for the secondary microphone. Both the volume rocker and the power button are slightly harder to press; I only hope for a future TPU case with cut-outs on these two places.

OEM Bumper
Review
After an extensive amount of waiting I finally received my bumper. Shipping and processing time was pretty quick. Overall, the bumper feels great in the hand even though it is slightly wider than a few of my cases. Compared to the Ringke /Diztronic slim case, it was fairly wider. Compared to my TPU case, it was just slightly wider. The most important part of the case is that your phone will be protected from drops and at the same time keep the phone looking great. The shiny bezel surrounding the phone keeps the premium look of the case. Both buttons, volume rocker and power button, provide a tactile feel when pressing down on them. They aren't like the TPU cases and it almost feels as if the actual case was integrated with the phone. On the bottom of the phone, there are cut-outs for the micro USB port as well as the microphone. Along the top, there are cut-outs for the secondary microphone and the headphone jack. I've read around some threads about the bumper and most people have trouble fitting their headphone jack to the phone because the cut-out is to small. The case was a bit pricey and I hope their will be other opportunities for people to try out this case when it's available again. I also hope that 3rd party companies will start producing more bumpers.
....More reviews will be available ...
Any question or places you would like for me to describe with more detail, I'll be happy to do so. Thanks
Thanks for the nice closeups. Is it just me, or is there a pretty big gap in the seam in the fourth picture?

It isn't really a gap when you're holding it in person. The macro shots just makes it seem kind of a big gap.

I actually did have a problem with that. The diztronic case has is a pretty tight case and when I tried putting it on my phone, the edges peeled just slightly. You can however try stretching the case over the edges to try and prevent that.

i got my diztronic in today and i am not impressed. luckilly the case will still work for its intended purposes. it fits fine and the all, but it really cheapens the look and feel of the phone.

Thanks for the reviews, but it would be more helpful if you took the pictures with a higher aperture, so the FOV isn't so narrow.
Do you think we should get the case fit XO skin if we're using the Diztronic case? I'm torn between either the XO skin or Xtremeguard. Have you, or anyone, had experience with both of these screen protectors? Is there a difference in quality between these two brands? Basically I would want the one with the least amount of orange peel, hardest/smoothest, and tough enough to not get peeled off by the Diztronic case. Opinions?
Just received my Spigen Neo Hybrid case for the HTC One M9 and I honestly think this is one of the best phone case investments I've made. The metallic colored buttons for the power and volume buttons, is slightly offset from the case for easy pressing. It also looks GORGEOUS.
After using it for only a few days I've really come to love this case, I've used plain silicone cases before (it didn't add weight, just added grip), Otterbox's, and just a plain plastic cover. This case is great to show off and has perfect cutouts for the camera, flash, and even a hole for the noise-cancelling microphone.
I've noticed that the textured back plate provides a great amount of grip. It also shows reflects the antenna bands that the HTC One likes to boast. It has this cool looking top side cover design for the IR Blaster. In addition, it has a slight lip for the front of the screen in case of accidental drops on the screen itself. I myself had a few to drink and dropped it on its face, I picked it up and not a single scratch or scuff on the case.
All in all, I've thoroughly enjoyed and will continue to enjoy this case, uploaded some pictures in case anybody is in the M9 case market...

It is a very nice case in both function and looks. But if you use a holster it begins to wear along the edges all the way down to the white plastic, so keep that in mind if you are planning on buying this and a holster too.
I have the same case and I do agree, it is freaking gorgeous. Great thing it comes in all the colors an actual HTC One M9 comes in so I got the gold case for my silver/gold M9 and yeah, looks sick...

do the buttons rattle like the old neo-hybrid cases used to?
I have this one as well and love it, well except it seems like I need to open up the slot for the headphones, as my plug I use in my car it a bit large.
I have this case and it rocks and or rolls out of control awesomeness..second time buying this kind had it on my nexus 5 too
i almost bought one of these. got the rubberized clear one instead.
spigen does make some pretty nice products.
I have both. The one you have and the one without the plastic around it. I love both of them. Great cases!
love mine! felt cheap at first
I was actually really upset when i took it out of the packaging and felt the sudo metal clasp... but once I figured out how to properly put the case on the plastic rib thingy feels very sturdy. They did a good job with the case. Mine took a nice fall from ear height (about 6' 2") onto a parking lot and it hit the corner of the plastic band. Few dings but the band is still in one piece and help up surprisingly well since i figured that d be the first to "go" whether from wear, damage, etc.. It was a pain to take it off and I actually told myself (the first time I tried to take it off) that this is a case that's never coming off.. screw it.. but once you figure out the trick its very easy.
I got the silver, I love it.
Def recommend it, had same brand for n5 and loved it. Speck for my m8.. the grippy one haha only one you could ever find in a store.

Yeah a little bit but not much bulk.
I am satisfied with this case for the most part. My only gripe is that the buttons may be too sensitive, but that could be the phone too. I seem to find myself turning the screen on by pressing the power button accidently a lot when I put the phone in my pocket. Very sleek case though.
Best case ever, with bonus!
I have the spigen neo hybrid silver accent case along with http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SXNVXPM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00 installed.
BEST combo ever. It hardly adds bulk! I used to use an iOttie mount in my car. But hated the fact that my buttons were covered/pressed by accident. This magnet eases up everything plus provides a less congested feel. On top of that it keeps my device cool if i decide to charge it. I would HIGHLY recommend the combo to those who likes the simplicity and less congestion on their dash.
- Also don't take off the 3M sticker just place it in between and it will hold the magnet in place. I use the large magnet slab for placement flexibility rather than the smaller circle slab.
edit - also the magnet still holds firmly even though it's between the case. I have never had my phone drop.
you guys know if i can buy this case here in the philippines?
Just got my Incipio dualpro midnight blue case from NewEgg ($15).
Thought I would upload a few pics for anyone interested and give my two cents.
I chose this case because of the two layers = better protection. The outer layer is smooth, and the areas that aren't covered by the hard outer plastic are smooth as well, thus it'll go in and out of pockets reasonably well.
The inner plastic is harder than I expected, but I've never used a case on any of my phones in 6 years
The inner layer didn't seem to want to come out of the outer layer that easily so I didn't force it. I just pushed the phone into the whole case. It went in easy enough. After it was on the phone the outer hard layer peeled off easily for easy removal of the phone.
All the holes line up perfect. However the USB-C Port hole is just wide enough for the cable shipped with the phone thus some adapters I have won't fit.
Of course the buttons are now harder to press. Some reviews said it was very hard, they aren't IF you press the buttons squarely straight on, but if you squeeze the phone to push the buttons then they seem very hard. So, it's more of an angle thing when pushing the buttons.
Most of the case doesn't flex/move when you squeeze the phone, but the area where the buttons are does as there's no hard plastic in that area. So a screen protector needs to be just slightly into the black bezel on the side, about 0.5mm imo. I won't be using a screen protector....
I wasn't sure about the color until I seen a review of the same case for the Note 8 on YouTube. It's a nice dark blue with a slight shine at an angle. From a distance it looks black. It looks much better than the pictures on Amazon or NewEgg.
Personally I don't think it adds that much thickness but it certainly isn't the slimmest case possible but I'll take the 10 foot drop protection instead! Hey, it's still smaller that my Moto X Pure
I can see it will collect dust and stuff around the edges, and like I've read elsewhere, it's probably wise to put a micro fiber cloth on the back of the phone inside the case so that any grit that gets in there won't scratch up the back..... If you want to go that far.
Almost forgot..... The all important effect on signal. I read one reviewer say it dampened signal noticeable. Not in my case. I actually seem to have gotten an improvement. I was usually sitting at -96dBm and now it looks stable at -93dBm or better. I did notice when testing signal that how I held the phone affected the signal..... So who knows....
If anyone has questions feel free to ask.
I have the smoke clear incipio and love it. Paired with my iq shield screen protector, im set. I buy incipio for everything

I just got the same midnight blue case today, and it is very nice. I wasn't quite sure what the color would look like since it's advertised as being irridescent, but there's no sparkle to it at all, which I appreciate. I also have Incipio's smoke TPU case, which is nice, but a horrible greasy fingerprint magnet, and I have the Poetic carbon fiber case, which is a great size and feels great in the hand, but it's kind of cheesy looking, in my opinion. I will agree that the inner layer of the DualPro is stiff. My wife has had DualPro cases on her phones for years, and they've all had a very soft rubber inner liner with easy to press buttons. I don't know why they changed that for the Essential case. I'm probably going to slit the buttons with a sharp knife. That's always helped on other stiff cases.

I've had this Incipio on every phone I've owned that they supported. This is the most I've ever paid for the case, normally they are $5 or $10 off Amazon or eBay. I had to pay almost $20 for this one on Amazon. I sold 2 of the 3 essential I got from prime day so I basically got the phone, USB C PD car charger, and case for free anyways.

All, recently bought this phone during Prime Day. Too good of a deal to miss! It looks beautiful but very wary of it staying that way so based on your various experiences what would you say is the best slimline case? The Incipio looks good but does add quite a bit of bulk to the phone...

this screen seems extremely fragile based on videos on youtube, posts on reddit and xda etc. For a phone that hasn't sold too well, it seems like there's a lot of broken screens out there. This made me decide to go for the incipio dualpro, hopefully with the additional protection, i'll be able to keep the screen intact!

I'm not sure what people are doing to their phones. I have a cheap tpu case and a plastic screen protector.
RhinoShield so far is the only option I've found for a BUMPER-ONLY case solution for our Note 9. I've bought this case twice after giving it a second chance and sent it back for the second time. The bumper frame itself is fine. It's got a fair amount of front lip to allow me to lay the phone face down to show off my Dbrand skin. Strangely enough, the lip on the back of the bumper frame is taller than the front.
Anyway, the biggest issue with this bumper-only case is the buttons. Oh my god, they have the worst buttons I've ever tried. I've mentioned in other threads that Spigen is the king when it comes to the buttons they build into their cases. They are raised a healthy amount so they're easily found and they have the best feedback ever. Very "clicky".
This RhinoShield bumper case buttons are so hard to register a click. They're too firm. The plastic is not soft at all. The second time I bought this case I tried pressing the buttons without the phone to try and soften them (like hundreds of pressings) and that did nothing to make them more malleable. I bought this case for the OnePlus 6T and the buttons on that case were just as ****ty as the one for the Note 9.
The other issue was the area around the S-Pen is too small, making retrieving of the pen more difficult compared to the dozens of cases I've tried before. I'm an average sized dude. My hands aren't huge but they're not small either. If I had longer nails maybe getting the S-Pen out would be easier but I don't.
Clear cases are not an option for me. They'll always reflect glare and distort the look of my drband skin. I just need a bumper-only solution. Just something to protect the edges of this phone. I cannot believe this type of case is not more popular. Like, why Spigen and others do not offer this as an option. Hell, if they could just make some kind of rubber band-like thing that I can wrap around the edges, that would be fair.
If anyone finds any BUMPER-ONLY cases, please share them with me. Thank you.
I've got one and I agree that the volume buttons are too stiff. I had to play / force them in and out with my plastic card holder edge to soften them a bit.
The lateral part are not that "firm" around the phone so unfortunately it feels a bit flabby.
It still makes the phone bulky, but according to one YouTube video where the guy toss the phone very high a few times without the phone being damaged at all, the protection is REALLY good.

I meant to do a review of the rhinoshield to warn everyone how awful they are. I had the exact same esperience as you and to add insult to injury, when I contacted the company to voice my concern they wanted me to ship it back with me paying for the shipping and would only accept it if it was BRAND NEW WITH NO SIGN OF WEAR. Really? Very bad customer service and crappy product..

That why I bought that case from Amazon. Can't beat Prime.
I had Rhino bumper on SGS7, totally agree with you. Hard buttons and slipery material. My buttons chopped off after almost a year of wear and tear.
My gf is using Ringke Fusion (clear back case) + dbrand skin. It looks beautiful so I ordered same case for Note9 + dbrand skin. It looks much better with lighter skins. Darker skins looks great when there is enough light around you. In low light it acts almost like a mirror.

No way I go back to Rhyno again. It's not bumper case but I don't mind to flip it over and show camo skin

The only way you can fix the button issue, is get an Stanley blade and cut the sides of the button.. So the top and the bottom of the button is the only place where the plastic is connected.. Then they will be so easy to press!
I did that on my case on day 2, it helps but I wouldn't say it is enough. At the end, when my Rhyno bumper buttons wear I even tried to cut them out and flatten the area around button. I've got choped case with holes where buttons are placed and it was bad experience. Hard plastic, rough edges, not easy to dig and not pleasant to fingers. Too bad, unfortunately, I've used cases on same phone (sgs7 like I said) with much more tactile buttons so I gave up on Rhyno.

I'm tempted to buy this case for the 3rd time and try this method but I don't know. The buttons are not raised enough to begin with. If they were as tall as buttons you'd find on Spigen cases, then for sure I'd try this razor method to try and fix the faulty design but I don't know.
I just cannot understand why RhinoShield is the only one making cases like this. Why is this type of case not more popular? Why would more users not want a bumper-only design. Why doesn't Dbrand and other skin makers not make a bumper-only case that helps show of their awesome skins better?

I think what’s happened as Rhinoshield get there case made in China, plus they purchase in bulk, there has been a manufacturing defect...
So at the moment Rhinoshield are stuck with the defect stock, I asked the exact same thing they would not answer me.. LOL
Razor blade is your only option! Some user say it works fine others say it dont so it's your call!
Or you can wait until they get rid of this stock and order more stock without defect! But that could be in the note 10 days!
Plus they aren’t telling me when they will get new stock, so I am guessing!

I honestly don't think I've ever been pleased w/Rhinoshield's bumpers.
I gave 'em a shot only after this design/model from Nillkin disappeared,in the Note 3/4/5 days (guessing you had one) :
Supcase had something similar, but,it's nowhere to be found on devices from the past 2-3 yrs as well.
Anyhoo,I think the problem w/Rhinoshield is their marketing pitch is strength/brute protection & if they pared down the overall width/thickness & eased-up on the button stiffness, they'd fail on that account.
IIRC,I 1st gave Rhinoshield a shot w/the S8+ & found the fit to be way too loose. IDK how the button situation was,as I returned it as soon as I got an RMA.
The exact opposite w/the S9+,a very snug fit, but, the construction lended itself to adding too much width to the grip & the buttons were stiff.
It got little use & I tossed it in the garbage soon after taking delivery.
IDK why no one steps up to the plate & makes a backless bumper that has a decent fit/low profile & usable buttons,or,for that matter, just have cutouts for the buttons.
I get it on the less popular phones, but,I'd think it'd be profitable for at least one mfg (if not Samsung themselves) to make such a bumper for the Galaxy S & Note lineup.
I suppose we shouldn't be surprised,as we've seen feature loss since the good 'ol Note 4 days, the same applies to case variety....................................

I'm tempted to try and modify one of Supcase's clear backs but the razor knife that I have doesn't seem strong enough to slice through that kind of plastic because I've tried to modify some other cases I have to create a backless case. It's so, so, so stupid that case makers don't see the benefits of a bumper-only design. It's frustrating for users like me who don't drop their damn phones all the time. I haven't used a screen protector since my iPhone days and my displays have always been great during the time I've had them until I sold/donated them off to another user.
If only I could find some kind of rubber band material that I can wrap the edges of my phone. That's something that these case makers could do. Make rigid edges (with soft, clicky buttons) but top and bottom elastic material so there's a tight fit. Does that make sense? Because getting the phone in and out of a RhinoShield bumper case is difficult. Yet another design issue with their cases.

I've tried modding a few cases where it had a clear distinction from the bumper part of the case & the back cover portion.
Same here,no success,as the remaining bumper didn't have enough rigidity to hold shape.

I totally get your design idea.
It's a different take on the 2pc metal bumper design,but,w/o the necessary assembly (screws). Remove the screws from the design,build-in some elasticity on two of the sides for easy removal-installation,yet,still holding shape & retaining edge protection.
That's actually a very nice idea, perhaps you have a friend or two who have some experience w/CAD software & sell the idea/patent/etc.... to one of the case mfgs...................

If only I had the time and resources. I'm happy to see someone else take this kind of thing and run with it so I can just get myself one case. I just need one for my 6T and one for my Note 9. lol
I got the rhino shield bumper, no trouble with the buttons, just not as clicky as I would like. It is also quite slippery and doesn't stay put on the vehicle dash.
With that said, my dbrand grip should be here in a week or so, it is the best case I have had, and loved it on my note 8. They are taking preorders still for shipment in Feburary, so check them out for a bumper style case.

Is it wrong to assume the dbrand grip would be almost impossible to pocket?
I was just about to order the Rhino Shield.
Dbrand is slightly bigger, but very VERY grippy. I wear Duluth Trading Co. Cargo pants and always have 2 phones in the front left cargo pocket.. also fits in my work shirt front pocket. Not sure about jeans or skinny fitting clothes.

One thing that I really do not like the look of with this case is that there are no raised buttons. The sides of the case appear to be flat, which would make it hard to find the right buttons you're looking for in a pinch or when the phone is inside your pocket or bag.
It's the one thing that's holding me from ordering this case. It looks pretty thick. That's fine but in my opinion if the case is going to be a bit thick you may as well have easily accessible raised buttons on the sides.
I just wish, considering the advancement with 3D print tech, that we could just design our own unique case for our phones. A case the way we want/need it. Like, if I could just have one of Spigen's cases but just the bumper, just the edges and no backing.

It's CrashGuard #3 for me today. Trying this case out for third time since it's the only viable option today for a bumper-only case.
I followed the advice of some users who suggested using a razor to slice into parts of the volume button grooves in order to make them more tactile. I'm happy to report that it worked pretty well. The buttons are actually registering clicks much easier than out of the box. Just to make it easier, I did the same thing for the power and Bixby button.
The other problem I had with this case is the area around the S-Pen makes it very difficult to remove the S-Pen. It's too small. I have average-sized hands and I have to use my pinky in order to get the S-Pen to eject. So I also modified that area and make some incisions with my razor. Then there's how tight the case can be as you try to put it on so skins can be pushed from the edges as you can see from the photos.
I just can't stand RhinoShield's tone-def response to criticisms to their CrashGuard cases. You have users reporting defective design features and they do nothing but push back with their half-baked suggestions to make their product work instead of correcting their design flaws.
They need to listen and stop deflecting. Spigen needs to also listen to us and give us a bumper-only solution.

Already had the Dbrand on for weeks and I've never used a screen protector on any Android phone. Last time I used a screen protector was on my iPhone 4s.
