I did something really dumb and took a hot shower with my phone in the bathroom. I think some vapor got inside the phone and shorted the digitizer (touch panel). Everything works still, including the screen. I have to use a mouse to control my phone. I hope someone can help me.
You know that the S6 is not water resistent? So technically it's your fault that your Touch Screen doesn't work anymore. And when the Hardware is damaged the only way is to replace it. There is nothing anyone here can do...

Yesterday after I took out my touch pro from my pocket something happened. My touch screen didn't work. I don't know why.
I thought a flex/ribbon cable don't connect so I took apart it. Everything was right. I removed the Digitizer ( plastic over the T.screen) and tried out the screen it didn't work. I inserted the Digitizer back the phone feels my touch but isn't there where I touch.
So what can be wrong? Digitizer can cause this problem because of scratches?
I hope you understood my problem and you can help me. I am not an English man.
Uh, did you try screen alignment after replacing the digitizer? I can't imagine that it'll work still after taking off the digitizer and replacing it. I'd probably say best to just replace the entire display.
I tried screen alignment with a new rom. After that I had known
it is a hardware problem. But I don't know the touchscreen or the digitizer is wrong.
So I've got a relatively cheap used sensation off ebay. It was announced defective and it was stated that part of the screen is dead. So I thought there were some dead pixels which didn't seem much of an issue for me. However, there are no dead pixels, the screen looks fine. However, it is very unresponsive. I have trouble pulling the ring to unlock the screen, selecting icons, typing, ect. There is also one part of the screen (one whole row) where the screen is completely unresponsive (doesn't react at all when touched).
Tried the SGS screen booster, tried cleaning the metal contacts on the battery side of the phone... nothing worked. The phone still has it's warranty seal, so it doesn't seem to have been opened..
Any suggestions other rhan faulty digitizer?
Thanks for your help
Sounds exactly like a faulty digitiser, which is costly to repair unfortunately, although it it surprisingly hard to break them, recently smashed the glass on mine, and the touch still worked perfectly!
I just asked the seller what made the touchscreen to stop responding. He said the phone fell off, hit the ground and afterwards the display wasn't working properly. Maybe there is some other way to fix this? The digitizer itself is not broken.. maybe there is something that got displaced.. or maybe there is a faulty connection somewhere on the pcb... do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
just noticed that if I squeeze the phone top to bottom (i.e. grab it with the thumb onto the unlocking latch for the back cover and the middle finger on top of the phone, just above the speaker) it opens 'messages'.. So maybe there is some bad connection on the pcb? Or should this definitely point to a faulty digitizer?
How do you diagnose what to replace on your tablet? Is it possible with the tf700t?
Here is the scenario- I travel a lot and kind of pack my backpack tight and I think the extra pressure on the tablet has screwed the right side.. I turned on show touches in developer tools and a touch comes and goes from the right mid side (sometimes it moves) .
I was able tdeal with this for a while but now after my last travel it's made it almost impossible to use the tab. My tablet it is out of warranty, unlocked and rooted so don't know if I could sent it to Asus for repair.
My question is, is it my touchscreen I need to replace or is it another component? Currently I I hold the tablet and apply pressure on the right side (back) I can make the touch go and come. If I turn the screen off it will remove the touch for a bit. if the touch won't go away I try to apply pressure to the back in various spots to it goes away
My understanding is if you can see what's on the screen the display panel is good. If there are touch problems then you MIGHT need a new digitizer. It could also be that in bumping it around and what not that the ribbon cable connecting the digitizer has come loose. Heat sometimes seems to be involved in this happening too. There are a couple threads here about these issues, fixing them and how to go about replacing the digitizer yourself and where people have bought them. It's not a feat for the faint of heart but it can be done at home.

Thanks I'll check it out didn't know if it was the touch screen or digitizer. I'm typing on it right now so seems like touch is just fine.
I suppose I'll open it up and see if a cable is loose. But do you think Asus would accept it for repairs? It's unlocked and rooted.
They woud gladly accept it for repairs... but they would charge you a bundle. Your warranty is void since you unlocked.

Touch screen/digitzer I believe are one in the same.
Sure Asus will fix it. In/out of warranty. But as mentioned, they'll charge you big bucks. My guess to replace the digitizer would be about 300USD. MIGHT be a little less.
If you open it somewhere inside, can't recall position, there is a service switch you should turn off 1st, before you do anything else. That might keep you from frying some component should a short develop somehow. Just remember to turn it back on last before you finish inside.
I recall reading that the ribbon cable is held in place by either glue or double sided tape and the heat aids in its becoming loose and can be part of the problem with the digitizer getting all crazy.
BTW Anyone can feel free to correct or add to this....
So, I got a cheap Yarvik G1. All good and fun, however during cleaning up the device from smudges I accidently cracked the screen. Usually no problem, but... The digitizer isn't even responding anymore...
I could probably manage to replace this, given the right part. However, parts for this thing are nowhere to be found. I was hoping maybe the tab220/200 parts could be interchangeable, but I'm not too sure. The bezel does not seem the same (the G1 has a slightly thinner bezel on the left-hand side) . And I'm going assume that the crack in the glassplate ruined the digitizer's capacative capabilities.
Is there anyone knowledgeable out there that can direct me to a spare part? ACTablet.com doesn't have any, can't find on eBay. I'm lost :'(
I changed screen assembly to my boys Honor 8. All went well.
Not so nice job BTW.
I tried that the screen was working but didnt tested the touch. I reassembled it and noticed that the touch is not regonized.
Does somebody have any clue or is the assembly just broken? :crying:
Likely you didn't connect the digitizer, or the digitizer is broken. Touch won't work without digitizer. I don't know how to fix it, you may have to look it up, maybe Ifixit has a guide. You may need to buy another digitizer for Honor 8.
Problem solved. I detached screen again. In bottom of the screen there was digitizer connector. It looked OKAY but I disconnected it and but it back firmly. Touch started to work. Yeah baby ??
Nice. Was I of any help?
