Missing edit option in quick settings - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

I'm already assuming that it's totally my fault for not finding where to enable this, but I'm at a loss as to how to make the edit option show up in the bottom right corner of the expanded quick settings pane, to add and reorder the tiles therein.
I already enabled System UI tuner by long pressing the settings icon... now what?
On a Pixel running Android 7.1
I'd post a screenshot, but my newbieness doesn't allow external links :\
Cheers!

Yay! I've cracked it since I posted to you (thx to How-to Geek). But thx for the same tip - simple when you know how (otherwise complete blank, as for so many stuff). issue closed.

Google Pixel: Enabling Battery Percentage

How can I enable the battery percentage on my Pixel?
Swipe the notification tray down.
Then hold the setting button, it looks like a bolt or cog.
Hold it for a few seconds the let go.
You'll see system tuner pop up in setting menu.
Tap that and go to status bar and it'll be at the bottom.
Good luck!

That requires a modification. If you care to and are rooted, flash this via Twrp. Select the very last option first (base). Hit finish, on next screen select check box at the top and hit finish again. This time select either percent with battery icon or without. Hit finish and finish again. Always make a backup first.
There are other mods in the theme section that will get you there too.

Might help to install busybox into system first
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767132025
Edit: I might have misunderstood. The systemui tuner method will give percent inside the battery. The mod method gives you percentage beside or instead of the battery icon.
Thanks. I may root it soon.
i have no mods and battery percentage...its an option in setting like the first reply suggested

Why is is inconvenient? Perhaps you misunderstood? Pull down the notification area, press and hold the settings icon until you see a message that says system tuner has been enabled (or some such thing). Then go into settnigs, scroll to the bottom and you'll see system tuner there. Touch it and enable the battery percentage there. It puts the percentage in the battery icon in the status bar. Only has to be done once.

Hey I just came over from Sprint and got the Pixel. I am 100% stock unrooted and long pressing the settings icon does nothing. I have even found a YouTube video showing this method and it simply doesn't work. I am on the latest February patch, could this patch have changed this and it's no longer available? Not knowing the percentage on the fly kinda sucks.

It should still work but I've heard stories of some people both on Nexus 5X and Pixel having difficulties getting it activated.

(Guide) Hide Navigation Bar / Immersive Mode/ Transparent [root required]

Hello.
I asked myself why you can not hide the Navigation Bar from the factory.
I Have long researched and have come to this solution until an official version works. It works very well and I am quite satisfied.
On Playstore I discovered this app (All in One Gesture) by YS Liang.
What it can do;
【Supported Gestures
• Swipe from edges.
• Double tap on the status bar.
• Long press on the physical keys (for Android 4.3+). Works great on Android 7
• Mouse or stylus (S Pen) is supported.
【Supported Actions
• Home, Back, Recent Apps, Screen Off, Immersive Mode, etc.
• Launch of an application or a shortcut.
Step 1:
- Open All in One Gesture> Enable Swipe
- scroll down to Corners> aktivate Lower Left Area
Step 2:
- swipe from left to right, you will see Side Panel [Settings]
- go to Personalisation and open Edge Preference; and make your settings.
- (mine configuration is: Opacity 0% , Corner Size 15px, Edge Sensitivity 60px, Edge With 50%, Horizontal
Offset 0%, Vertical Offset 0%, Swipe Distance 40px).
- activate Behind Keyboard
- go back to Side Panel [Settings]
Step 3:
- swipe from left to right to see Side Panel
- click on Immersive Mode
- if you want to see the Status Bar, activate it
- Enable Blacklist and click on Manage Blacklist to exclude your desired apps from Immersive Mode
- Now activate the Immersive Mode in the upper right corner (for constantly usage )
or deactivate Blacklist/Immersive Mode (for using with a swipe down activation....)
you're Done, that's it. play with the settings and find your best solution!!)

Do you have root? Check in Magisk Manager if root is granted for "All about Gesture". If not deinstall the app and install it from Play Store again, use link in post #1. Then check in Magisk Manager Settings, if "busybox" and "hide magisk" is marked on.... :highfive::good:

Ahhhhh that's why i haven't rooted.
For the first time i want to see how long i can go before it does my head in not having root
Thank you for explaining. Might want to add to first post that root is required for per app basis.
You don't need root to enable immersive mode: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-enable-system-wide-immersive-mode-without-root/
Wait, the S8 has been rooted???

Yeah, but you don't even need root to do this on a per-app basis. Just providing an alternative, non-root solution here.
Using shell I typed in:
"adb shell pm grant com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS" and the blacklist became visible. Also, my keyboard now works with this app.
Is there any ADB command or other non root option to increase auto-hide time when immersive mode is on?
Thanks ?
Alternative to this is go to your Edge settings (default by Samsung) and install the Edge Softkey and the order your Edge Softkey to be first.
Enable Immersive and swipe at the edge for navigation keys.

must have apps for unrooted ?

Hey all, since we don't have root or custom ROM's yet, what are some of the must have apps to add additional functionality you find missing from your favourite roms? Things like additional tiles for the notification tray, etc. I'm looking for whatever you can't live without!
@mikeandjaimie
Immersive mode is cool, especially for video/games:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/razer-phone/how-to/tip-immersive-mode-root-required-t3714812
An Ad blocker is #1 on my list, whether rooted or not.
For unrooted,I go with Block-This:
https://block-this.com/
Real easy to use:
1) Choose whether to have auto-start on boot
2) Whitelist on a per-app basis

I'm on UK 3 branded, so maybe it's been disabled in some way.

Didn't open anything but "settings" for me but then when I scroll down the menu ,it is above "about phone" and below "developer options"
Also I noticed my settings icon also has a wrench on it. I held it again and turned it off just to test, then I was able to turn it back on and even got a toast pop-up saying congrats it's enabled...

Accessibility icon

Hello, how can I disable the accessibility icon in the button bar ?
Maybe it's impossible
Same issue here. I had it activated for something to do with FFBE on my other phone and it carried over to my OnePlus. Unfortunately, there is no option to disable or enable it, they've seemingly only added "triple tap to zoom" and hidden the icon zoom.

Disable the android Accessibility suite. Search for it in your settings, disable the app and it should go away.

Question WTF is this little stick figure icon on the left/notification side of my status bar? UPDATE, screenshots and found out what it is

Every now and then I'll see a stick figure icon on the left side of my status bar by the clock and on the lock screen/aod in a bubble.
when I unlock the phone or pull down the notification panel any info disappears.
Anyone know what this little guy is for and how to get rid of him?
and the screenshot is.................? kinda hard to help if we don't see what it is..
The only icon I can think of that resembles a stick figure is the SMART THINGS icon.

It;s a stick figure, like the stick figure that was coming up on peoples nav bar on 8's and 9's for accessibility settings
it looks JUST LIKE THIS ONE IN THE PINK CIRCLE without the dots under it but its a icon by the clock
When you need a hug. Push this. That makes you more accessible.
here are screeenshots, I got it in action.
It has something to do with one of the apps I enabled in accessibility mode.
Anyway to stop the "check access settings" little guy notification from coming up

Thanks, no clue then. It must be one of the apps, maybe the Galaxy HZ app having access to screen as it shows the stick figure in the notification as well. Check the app in Accessibility settings and try disabling it.
Also, what is the other app with moon and glowing clock? (screenshot attached)..looks cool

My stickfig has a purpose, I can dim the screen at night or brighten it up. The icon comes up when you slide out the 'stick'. You can park this feature anywhere, to enable go to 'visibility enhancements' >>'extra dim'(screenshot is from S22)
So I'm guessing you can disable your stick figure somewhere there as well.
