Disable Wifi Power Saving Mode - Galaxy S7 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Themes, Apps, and Mods

By default the Galaxy S7 has a WiFi power saving mode which affects bandwidth and response when the device screen is off and on battery power.
New method to disable WiFi Power Saving mode. Should work for other Samsung devices.
The *#0011# method I've found creates a file /data/.psm.info and contains a 0 to disable power saving.
Open a Terminal session.
su
echo '0' > /data/.psm.info
chmod 664 /data/.psm.info
Or you can use my app to toggle the setting.
Play Store App

Power Saver Off - Sees a fast response every other ping.
OLD Method
Follow the instructions below or use my own attached modded file to disable this power saving mode. The option is in a service menu but the activity hides the power saving button to toggle it.
My scheduled Wi-Fi tasks now don't struggle.
My S7 is a UK G930F. Will also work with G935F.
Copied /system/priv-app/serviceModeApp_FB/serviceModeApp_FB.apk
Decompiled using AndroidMultiTool and latest apktool.jar
Edit /res/layout/wifi_information.xml
Change the powersavemod lines - android:visibility from "gone" to "visible"
Recompile the apk
Copy back to device /system/priv-app/serviceModeApp_FB/serviceModeApp_FB.apk
Restart device.
Open the Dialer and type *#0011#
Click More
Click Wifi
You will now see the WIFI Power Save Mode option
With Power Saver of, screen off and no USB connected, you get better bandwidth and a quick response every other ping.

Can you please upload a video on youtube about how to disable wifi power saving ?
Because i did not understand your steps ?

Thank you man. I looked everywhere for this.

I used the old method as i had trouble getting su to work in the TWRP terminal.
I took the apk file as explained in the steps above that i qouted.
I decompiled it with APK Easy Tool like so.(Make sure you select the framework file in the framework tab!)
After that i changed the 2 lines in the decompiled files as explained in the steps.
Then i recompiled the apk again and copied it to /system/priv-app/serviceModeApp_FB/serviceModeApp_FB.apk overwriting the original.(I needed a file explorer with root to do that.)
i rebooted and dialed *#0011# clicked more then clicked wifi and disabled power saving.
I hope it helps.

Thanks a lot @zeroprobe, this has been a problem for me since they removed the setting in the service menu (I need to enable it for WiFi tethering and it had been off since they removed it so no WiFi tethering), now I have the option back.
I bought your app even though I didn't need it in the end to say thanks for the post!

NO Root Acces
Does anyone can help me, I have no root access over my phone?
When I run Android Commander, the bottom status bar says "Root Access : NO"
I don't understand what went wrong.
I tried to click the status bar, it just keep on loading.
Doesn't even find my HTC Sensation (adb drivers installed+rooted), while both QTADB and Droid Manager are able to access the phone.
So it's a no go for me, too bad, looks promising.

Maybe because you are runing jb mr1 4.2.2
For all those that get "Root Access : NO" on rooted phone, it's because adbd is running in "secure" mode.
Try adbd Insecure v1.30. It worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687590
It won't show my device
it says my Galaxy nexus(4.3 +rooted) is offline and that I should reboot it.
done the reboot, nothing changed, tried insecure adb, the same message.
can someone help me.
I need to to modify swap file as im using androidcommander with rooted note 2 4.3
thank u people
works just fine with Chainfires Insecure Mode app and KitKat on my Nexus 5.
You need to overwrite the files that are in $ROOT/Android Commander DIR/bin/ with the ones that are from an up-to-date sdk.
There are 4 files.

since I don't have knowledge in modifying kernels, can anyone add more frequencies to stock kernel and oc frequencies as well?
There are some OC kernels in thread about Ace 2 rooting. I think page 4 or 5. But there are also some doubts about real effects of OC.
anyone knows how to change bootanimation on this phone?
I bought a usb jig and it works... When you plug it in, the phone enters download mode.
What do you mean by works? Does it reset a counter of custom kernel/ rom? Is this a way to have valid warranty?

[PC-APP] SGN3 Mod Tool

DOES IT WORK? I am yet to receive my SGN3, so I haven't been able to test.
I made this tool originally for SonyEricsson Xperia X10, but have now modified it to work for our Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I hope it will make life a little easier when modifying files on the device. It uses ADB to pull and push files, change file permissions and much more - so users don't need to remember long command prompt/terminal emulator commands! It also has a nifty little application manager, which allows for quick installation, backup, and removal of both pre and self -installed software. It has a LogCat function to read and save logs on the go when investigating errors, as well as functionality to decompile/recompile APK, JAR and ODEX files, sign and zipalign APKs, and decompile System images. Finally, straight ADB shell access is integrated.

Instructions:
1. Download.
2. Extract archive.
3. * Install LinuxReader to GalaxyS3ModTool\tools\LinuxReader.
4. Run SGN3ModTool.jar!
*This step is only needed for the Decompile System function in the ROM Manager.
Note: Make sure your phone is connected in debug mode, you have root privileges, and unsecured your device's shell. The application will try to unsecure your shell if you haven't already, but worst case scenario you might have to do this manually.
Also, the manage ROMs functionality is still experimental, and the Recompile System function is disabled. If you know how these processes can be automated, let me know and I will incorporate the functionality.
If you have problems, let me know and I will try to sort them out with you. Keep in mind that often when a modification goes wrong, you can simply push back the original files and reboot. So keep backups handy!
Reserved in case of future expansion.
Very interesting, will test when i get back home. Thanks!

this actually does work!
if somone still wants to use it for whatever reason you can:
get a kernel that is not SElinux enforcing (permissive).*
get adb insecure by chainfire and switch to insecure mode.
be sure that in the app it says:
Binary: Insecure
USB debugging: Enabled
should work, at least for me it did.
not sure if every custom kernel(permissive) works.
*lastest wanam exposed module has an experimental feature to set the selinux to permissive.
i havent tried it but maybe you can do the above with stock kernel and just setting permissive mode in wanam.
edit: does not work with stock kernel, at least for me.
i have not tested every function of this tool but connecting, pushing, pulling and so on work.
there are other tools that can do that, i wrote this just for information.
works well here! well done

thanks MrRusch for your great work!
I am a newbie about these stuff so forgive me if these are questions are stupid~
I was trying to use it to deodex the SamsungChineseIME apk and I got 2 questions want to ask.
1. when it asks for "Install Framework?", I choose the framework-res.apk extracted from my rom. But I also notice there is a twframeworkres.apk in the rom, do I need to include that also?
2. I came to a prompt asking me for "Select framework directory to reference" (as attached screen), I was hold back since I don't know what to choose for this.
Thank you again for your effort and this great tool!

Same issue with me... Stuck at AT&T logo during phone restart
I flashed back to stock 20c, and then OTA update to 20y. After root, tethering is enabled.
Has anyone found a solution to enable tether on AT&T lollipop (30f)?
I also ran into the same issue after following this guide. I had to start over and flash back to kitkat. I edited the database while still on kitkat, confirmed it worked. Then i ran the OTA to lollipop. To my surprise my database entries had stayed and my tethering works on Lollipop. Not sure if this will help others but it worked on my D800 G2.

On my AT&T D800, I allowed the OTA to upgrade to lollipop, but afterwards the phone lost root and tethering was no longer "authenticated". The database gives the "currently locked by another process" message.
I wonder what's different between our procedures? I did remove some of the AT&T bloatware while in KitKat, before OTA occurred..... maybe that's different.
It works for me. I have no problem with tethering but I lost LTE.
I have 2 D800, the other rooted but have not been edited the setting.db and is connecting to LTE fine. Also confirmed by swapping SIM card.
Will factory reset and see.
P.S. The one that has LTE working does not have the 2nd entry on the Setting.db, interesting!
Flash back to kitkat and still no LTE using Simple Mobile. It must be just my phone! Guess they are not build equally!
Try everything I know how to no success and then I flash the T-Mobile stock Lollipop and LTE connected, Wow. Stupid AT&T have to remove the network type selector from us. It available to international G2 as well.

Getting a virus alert on this file...really would like to get this tethering issue resolved but not sure if its worth the hassle of (possibly) getting infected with this trojan script..
For those trying to tether on the latest AT&T G2 ROM, the solution is very simple if you are rooted. Once you get ADB access going, you enable it with a single command-prompt line:
Code:
adb shell settings put system tether_entitlement_check_state 0
That's it. No need to restart phone.
If you need more instructions, you can follow similar articles written for the LG G3 such as this one.

Hi guys
Came back to xda after long times
Sorry to all my fans
If you like my work do please hit thanks
Now it is a very bad truth that core 2 will never ever get a lollipop official upgrade as its hardware is not going to support lollipop.
So i thought to provide my fans a bit long but trusted way to get a lollipop look, feel, performance on their lazy kitkat devices.
Lets get start
I SUPPOSE THAT YOU HAVE A ROOTED DEVICE. if not then check out my previous guides.
YOUR DROID HAVE ATLEAST 80 % BATTERY.
AND YOU HAVE NO BRAIN
with all this things you arevready to go.
Folllow me boys step by step
1 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP LAUNCHER
for this we are going to use NOVA LAUNCHER. You can use any lollipop styled launcher for yourself.
Firstly go to es file explorer and onnnnnn the root explorer option.
Then copy the nova launcher apk and past it to /system/priv-app.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like thisView attachment 3431496
After doing that just delete the default launcher apk and odex file from same folder.
Reboot device and you get the lollipop launcher.
2 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP KEYBOARD
for this we are going to use latinimegoogle keyboard.
Firstly go to es file explorer and onnnnnn the root explorer option.
Then copy the apk and past it to /system/app.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like thisView attachment 3431496
Then copy the lib and past it to /system/lib.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like
thisView attachment 3431496
After doing that just delete the default samsung keyboard apk and odex file from same folder.
Reboot. After rebooting go to settings of keyboard as usually and go to advance section there you will find that material theme option.choose material theme for lollipop look.
Apk and lib files are on this link

Lib https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByZiuaK2U388ZGZVMFFrVk03RFU/view?usp=docslist_api
3 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP LOCKSCREEN
just follow all instructions which you used for launcher.but you do nat have any specific apk for lockscreen in samsung devicea so you do not need to delete any apk.
Download any lockscreen from market of your choice.
Make shure you have changed file permissions.
4 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP NOTIFICATIONS
all love heads up notification.
For that you need to download two akp
Xposed installer and its module " heads up notifier" both are in apk form so for both files follow the same instructions as launcher but again you do naot have to delete any apk at last.
Remember the correct permissions.
After rebooting just open xposed framwork and click on modules and enable the notifier module.come back to main menu and click framework and click on install and it will ask for rebooting.after reboot younwill have heads up notifications enabled.
5 - UPGRADING CORE 2 DISPLAY
now a bit different thing.
Open es file explorer and navigate to /system/build.prop.
Open this file.
Tap on the pencil on right top.
Now you will see a line ending with 4.4.2 just change it to 5.2.0
There are two lines saying ro.sf.lcd_density 240 change the value to 200 in both the lines
There are lines like
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=5m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=68m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=94m
Change them to
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=10m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=68m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=256m
Done save changes and reboot
Your device now is mostly like lollipop and you have a 20% boosted performance device which eats less battery when in power saving mode.
6 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP STATUS BAR ICONS
You can download xstana module of xposed installer.install it on your device and tap on notification in status bar after rebooting open the app and choose which style you want.
Follow the same launcher guide above but you dont have to delete any app.
NOW FOR IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A NAVIGATION BAR IN YOUE DEVICE YOU HAVE TO EDIT YOUR BUILD.PROP AND ADD A LINE AT ITS END
qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0
After saving fild just reboot and you will get mavigation r right at botton.
This is a screen shot of my device
